We recently visited the Masons Arms while we were staying in the area for a few days. It is such a lovely country pub and well worth a visit. We were treated with kindness from the moment we stepped inside, nothing was too much trouble. We had a fabulous Sunday lunch and also had traditional pub grub from the menu ( pies are especially good). Thank you to Simon and his family for making us feel so welcome.

We stayed here as park of the Britstop membership. Simon, Lydia and staff could not have been more welcoming, accommodating and fun. We chatted with them and the locals on a busy Friday after Cheltenham races came to an end. The food was fantastic. Proper pub grub. We had lamb and mint pie and a first for me, cauliflower cheese pie! Couldn’t fit in dessert but were offered a sample which was delicious. They definitely have the right mix of decent food and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely come back.

My husband and I were staying in a cottage walking distance from this Pub and decided to eat there one night… so glad we did as it was excellent. I had a fantastic homemade chicken curry (with rice and naan) and my husband had an absolutely gorgeous homemade chicken & chorizo pie ( the pastry I think was that crispy hot water crust type) lovely friendly service and nice local feel to the place. Well done to the owners as they are doing a great job running a local pub with superb food.

Super small pub to visit with very friendly staff (daughter of owner). We turned up quite late for lunch, but she very sweetly allowed us to place an order. Delicious cheese panini, friend had cob, both well presented and freshly made. Serve Butty Bach and HPA beer which may attract those who like real ale. Will visit again and are hoping to attend quiz night which is held on the last Thursday of each month.

Seven of us ladies went for our Christmas get together. We had booked. The place was cold (we had to keep our coats on) and uninviting. No atmosphere at all and very little in the way of Christmas decorations. We were given a menu - no Turkey or Christmas fare at all. Most of the group ordered a chicken dish as that was about the only item available. The waiter told us that the meat order had not arrived and that we couldn't have the steak most of us would have liked. When the food came it was sparse to say the least. I don't consider 3 sprouts and a swirl of parsnip puree to be sufficient in the way of vegetables. All in all a disaster - never again!

I have visited The Masons numerous times since moving to the area several months ago. Often, I go with my husband and sometimes, with friends. The barman/manager has made us very welcome and goes to a lot of effort to make guests welcome. He has a great rapport with all of his guests from what I have witnessed. On New Years Eve we had a blast as he and his colleagues went the extra mile to give a very happy crowd a fabulous evening. I’ve eaten here too with family and friends- some who are quite fussy but we’ve all come to the same conclusion ... food here is consistently delicious and good value. Good beer, Guinness (according to hubby) and I can vouch for the merlot and spirits! The Masons has made our move to the area a particularly pleasant one.

My wife and i popped to the pub for a couple of drinks which we sometimes do. Over the past few years there has been a few different faces behind the bar some good bad etc . Friday night there was a young man serving who was foreign . As a bar man you should listen and interact with the customers this young man was loud and foul mouthed. The group of men at the bar were trying to explain about legislation in this country .Clearly he has an issue with English people as he became very aggressive with his responses . It is normally very enjoyable in The Masons and everybody can interact and have a good discussion the locals who sit at the bar always include you in conversation and say hello and goodbye. My wife was very uncomfortable with the way the evening was going and decided to leave . At this point of leaving the bar man then starts saying that he is going to get his gloves and beat everyone up. Walking home were quite upset by the comments and we doubt we will return again .

Like a carvery but served to your table. 4 meats offered and you could choose more than one. Given a choice of around 7 different vegetables and asked if any we didn't want then another four also brought to the table! Huge portions of everything, a shame that so much would be wasted, and no room for pudding. A special mention for the roast potatoes which were the best I've ever had out, as good as my husband's home made! Being picky, everything was a bit chunky in size, like the cabbage and carrots. Excellent value at £12 for a main. Excellent staff

We were keen to go back, having had a great meal last time not long after they reopened. We were greeted by a very friendly young man who served us throughout. We both had the steak ale and mushroom pie, with chips, peas and carrots. It was all very hot and the pie was exceptional, with lots of large pieces of tender meat and mushrooms with tasty gravy. It was very filling. A flatter moist pastry on top would have been better than a very crispy tall one. £3.80 for a pint of Coke is excessive but the menu prices are very reasonable.

Volveremos otra vez.

Having moved into the area about the same time as the publican and his wife we have tended to treat this great eatery as our local, though it is a three mile stroll and back to go there most days. The food is cooked on the day and often is cooked to order. Any delay is due to this fact. Hence anyone ordering a pie is advised that they will sometimes have to wait a while before it arrives, so please please to have one of their excellent starters. My fave is the pear and walnut salad. The time between courses here allows the pie's wonderful suet pastry to bake to perfection. In due course it is presented with a wide range of well prepared vegetables to everyone's taste. The fish is fresh and the fish and chips comes in two sizes, so be sure to take a hearty appetite if you opt for the large size! All fish and meat comes from a highly regarded supplier just up the road and it is worth trying.Just a small note, although the pub is not the largest in the area it is tardis like once you step inside. Restaurant and bar areas are separate entities and can accommodate a surprising number of guests. The kitchen is in proportion with the pub as viewed from the outside with the kitchen running to maximum capacity from the moment they open to pretty much the time they close. It is well advised that you call ahead as they do get booked up and despite your best efforts they can only accommodate the number they can. This was initially annoying when we had walked there, but once you understand the logistics there all becomes clear. The meals cover a wide range of home produced meals using well sourced produce. All washed down with drinks makes for an excellent afternoon or evening. The atmosphere there is great, not so noisy you cannot hear yourself think.I ddi think that by putting on a review l might be a contributor to the increased popularity of this pub, with the potential result they would rebooked solid, but their efforts do deserve some recognition they do try.We have even known guest chef's on odd occasions offering such dishes as lobster thermidor, but that's another review. The staff are all great too, a friendly bunch. We go there either as a couple or with the elderly parents and are never disappointed.Just reminded further down the page but the prices stand great comparison with anywhere nearby, and better than many.Keep up the good work team.

The only, very minor comment I would make is the TV by the bar. The flickering of it is reflected in to the bottom restaurant by a mirror in the top pub area. This was very distracting. went for a birthday meal, enjoyed the food, nothing special but it was quite good value for money. We went as a table of 4. We all had different dishes and it took quite a long time to be served so we decided not to have desserts. My friend had been before and said it was similar when she visited.

This is not a bad place to go for ´tea´. Its an average village pub that makes you feel at home and serves food like you can cook at home. I would go again if I wanted a quick bite to eat and was passing through the area. It has been closed a lot over recent years and so good to see it open again with a few people in it.

This is an unpretentious proper pub serving great beers and fantastic Pub Food at an affordable price. My Wife and I are frequent users of the Pub and whether we have Fish and Chips, Denise's special curry or Rib eye steak one thing is for sure we will not be disappointed with the quality of the food or the service. It is also our Granddaughters favorite eatery.

This is incredible value for money as food is excellent quality and mostly homemade. Choices are from £8, £10, £12 menu so a big saving can be made. This is not a low grade frozen pensioner's lunch, but an excellent offer that everyone can enjoy in a traditional English pub setting. There is a restaurant and bar seating for dog lovers. The pub dog Kissy is a remarkable dog who welcomes 2 & 4 legged friends, and is a favourite of us regulars. Denise the chef makes fresh soup every day, and the Sunday Lunch is to die for and cannot be bettered anywhere else in Worcestershire. Its advisable to book, we cannot recommend more highly.

Having visited this pub many times, over the past 20 years or so, and finding the standard decline, in that time, under three managements, my wife and I decided to give it another try, following a further management change, having read a number of, recent, glowing reports. We decided to go for the 8, 10, 12 menu, as it was lunch time, and found the choice good, for the price. The food was average pub standard, although the fish was excellent quality. The service was excellent, the young man who looked after us being pleasant and helpful, but the landlord was sullen and unfriendly. However, our main complaint is that the pub was, on the day, very cold. Considering that it was March, and the ambient temperatures have been fairly low, recently, it might have been expected that the central heating would be on. Both of the, adjacent, radiators were cold. In fact, my wife put her coat back on, shortly after we arrived, and kept it on throughout her meal; something I have never known her do before.

The new winter menu is great and at lunchtimes you can have the £8,£10,£12 menu for 1,2,or 3 courses or the option of other dishes from the main evening menu. This mean a much wider choice of meals. We frequent the pub several times a week, and the consistency is always excellent. Homemade soup is always vegetarian and seasonal, and is served with a choice of bread from a local bakery. The food quality is way above average because it is all freshly cooked, with many dishes homemade by Denise the chef. We always book to avoid disappointment.

We have eaten here a couple of times over the past few weeks. It's ok to call for 'tea' when in the area. They do a nice pint and quite quick pub food. I do question all of these first class reviews as they do not match what you get here - is someone making up reviews I wonder??They have a lovely dog which comes around for fuss, but no so pleasant when he rubs his rear end on the carpet in front of you!

We needed a pub that would allow dogs but I didn't expect to the food to be as lovely as it was. I had cod and it just flaked onto my plate and literally melted in my mouth. The chef came out to check we were happy and she was really friendly. Definitely recommend.

The Masons Arms has changed hands many times since we first visited the pub in 2004. The pub had new owners in July of this year. We had an excellent lunch about two months ago and decided to take two of our friends to the pub for lunch. We all had the pumpkin soup. The soup was excellent - hot and tasty. For the main' I had chicken. The plate was cool and the chicken was dry. The other three quests has scampi. They all thought that the scampi was not particularly good. We had a bottle of red wine that was excellent and good value for money. However, we were disappointed. The pub is small and cosy. The atmosphere is great and the staff are polite and friendly. The pub is not expensive - £8 for one course, £10 for two and £12 for three courses. We did not complain about the main course and told the staff that the meal was ok. I think that most people would not say that the food was not particularly good but just decide not to go again. I think that the plates need to be hot and the food must be well cooked and tasty.Pup food is highly competitive. If the food is not good then patrons will cease to go. We will try the pub once again with friends that are visiting us at Christmas.

This was our first visit and we found the food good and ambience truly excellent. A real find and intend on it becoming a regular venue for us. The steak was cooked just right and the duck was sublime! The portions were plentiful and the vegetables well cooked. Only a slight criticism was the long wait for our main course but we accepted that the chef was the only one cooking and everything was cooked fresh. I'd rather wait a little and have great food so no problem. This is how a traditional pub should be!

We have moved into the area recently and enjoy road walking as the field paths are often impassable due to nettles and mud. We popped into the Mason's Arms a few weeks back and vowed to return. This we did today and had a good time. Great selection of beers included Abbot Ale and Black Sheep bitter, a long way from home this one.The restaurant is bright and cheery and some locals were already in there ahead of us. Our standard meal, by which we tend to compare venues, is battered fish and chips. This was ample in size and freshly prepared, a great dish. I waited for the cottage pie and was not disappointed. Food is piping hot and very very tasty. The waitress is very pleasant and helped out with our local knowledge gaps! The Mason's Arms is even on a bus route so no excuse for not going. We will be back with aged parents soon, and wish the team every success during these cold winter times.

Was passing through the village and thought we would find a pub to have a Sunday roast and we weren't disappointed. Good chose on the Sunday lunch menu, it's best to make reservation too as it gets very busy. Service was fantastic, food was perfect, I had a lamb roast and my partner had a pork roast. Both were excellent, came with fresh veg on the side which were cooked to perfection. A little on the pricey side, but I can live with that as quality does come at a price. Most defiantly would go there again! Well done!!!

Have only visited the Masons a couple of times before and it was instantly forgettable. New management and it is now a different place - and all positive. We visited on a Saturday night with another couple, arrived to a friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere. Were served nice breads whilst browsing the menu (which had 3 separate sections, effectively an al-la-carte, 8-10-12 cheaper option and specials). This slows down decision making somewhat, but there is a good variety of choice overall - or at least there would be if they had not run out of several key dishes. Not a huge problem, and is more likely to happen where the food is good (and fresh) than somewhere that it is not.The waitress was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - much better than the average pub waitress, I understand that the new owners brought her with them from their previous venture and we could see why.We had quite a long wait for our starters, and another significant wait between starters and main course. We made no complaints but all the same were offered a free round of drinks because of the delay which shows both awareness and consideration which we really appreciated. A long wait followed by a below par meal would have ruined the evening, I am happy to report that when the food came it was very good indeed, well worth waiting for and much better than average pub food but no with pretence of being something they are not and charging stupid money as seen all too often at 'Gastro Pubs'. We all really enjoyed our meals, the atmosphere and friendly service. Both bar and restaurant areas have a pleasant feel about them and we will be back before too long. Give it a try, based on our experience you will not regret it and may make it a regular.

I wrote a review of this pub & restaurant over a year ago - and was not very complimentary. It has new owners now and the difference is amazing! We have eaten here three times recently and not been disappointed. The atmosphere is warm and friendly as soon as walk in and it has been redecorated and look smart. The bar serves some real ales, the services is good and the food is just excellent. Portions are a decent size, well cooked, well prepared and delicious. Cannot think of anything to be critical about. Even the house wine I had, a Merlot, was very nice. There is a decent children's menu and a separate choice for £8 one course, £10 two courses and £12 three courses! Brilliant. I recommend it.

As locals we have watched the changing fortunes of the Mason's Arms over the years and have often eaten there. I have visited twice during the past fortnight and would say now that it is the best it has ever been. It is a very welcoming pub with a friendly atmosphere. Many improvements have been made to the décor and furnishings, yet the original features of this very old inn have been retained. The food is great! I had two courses for £10. Both were tasty and substantial and the main course was very hot. I've also tried the daily specials and again really enjoyed the food and thought it was excellent value for money. Service could not be faulted- friendly waitresses and waiter making sure you are happy with everything. We will certainly be visiting more regularly in future.

The Mason arms has changed ownership many times in the past 10 years. The pub reopened again about two months ago. My wife and I decided to try the pub again on a Tuesday evening. There were lots of people having a drink and also ordering food and reservations were already booked up for the next weekend. We ordered prawns and home made broccoli and stilton soup for starters and lasagne and fish and chips for the main course. The food was very tasty and served piping hot. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will not hesitate to return in the future.

We have been extremely fortunate to taste the incredible food that Denise, the chef, seems to magic up from heaven, when they ran the pub in our village. Her food is legendary, and we had to drive out to her new place for Sunday lunch. The beef was beautiful and pink, huge portions, two yorkshires (!) and as usual, a huge bowl of fresh garden vegetables. The atmosphere is cosy and warm, with a cute bar and truck loads of atmosphere. I defy you not to start looking up properties for sale in this village, because it literally has it all !

We arrived a bit too early when the place was still closed so disappeared to fill the car with petrol. We considered eating near Worcester but I can honestly say we are glad we went back to The Masons Arms. It's in a backwater between Pershore and Worcester that you wouldn't normally drive past. When we arrived the barman (I think the owner) was jovial and cheerful. The Guinness was cold and well poured. The pub is very small and cosy inside and the dining area is clean and made me want to eat. I had the battered cod. It arrived in two separate pieces (cut before battering and cooking) because it was too big to fit in the fryer! The chips were good and the mushy peas tasty. My friend had the roast cod with a tasty crumb topping and fresh vegetables. He said it was very good but I could see he'd have preferred my whale. For the first time in living memory I couldn't eat everything on the plate. That's a record. We still managed to have a pudding called chocolate indulgence with vanilla ice cream which, if I'm honest, was too much for me - but I managed to shovel it down. Another pint of Guinness and we'd had more than enough.Food excellent and HUGE portion. A lovely pub. The waitress was sweet and attentive. The cook/chef came out to check all was well with the customers. A lovely pub. Great food and well worth the trip. We will certainly return. Thanks to the staff.
