Tonight was the last visit I shall make and all as a result of who I suspect was the landlord….back bar and kitchen staff I’ve have a good laugh with for 4 weeks during my visit, front bar tonight…the new young lad (very polite and smiley), but barrel needed changing …landlord(?)….hope not as he instigated the worst visit I’ve had at this pub…sat near me, then went to do it, his attitude was awful & simply walked past to the other end of the bar to serve a lady first despite me waiting for 7mins for him to do a simple task of a lager cask change….he is no doubt happy to take over £200 of my money since mid Oct….but he doesn’t care about those he doesn’t recognise…..seating is a big issue in this place but they don’t care so long as they’re full……take your money elsewhere is my advice.

After a long walk along the canal, the 7 of us (and 2 dogs) popped into The Talbot for lunch. It has 2 main rooms with the back room extending into more of a dining area. The toilets are near the rear door, leading to a beer garden, which looked OK but might be more appealing in the Summer. Inside was very well presented, shining taps, clean, warm and welcoming - I would happily come here again. The Craddock's beer was well kept but as only 2 staff members were working (chef and bar/food server) with 15+ punters eating and drinking, service was a little slower than I would expect but they worked as fast as they could and were still very attentive. The little wait was well worth it! I had the fish pie, it was labelled as home made and it showed, full of flavour, a decent portion and my side of cabbage was properly cooked with just a little crunch. Others had different pies and everyone enjoyed their meal. Main meals priced around the £12-14 mark and great value in my opinion. We all enjoyed our visit and would happily return, especially as it is dog friendly.

Absolutely top notch pub. A proper local where you are welcomed as a friend. Andy & his team are amazing & serve wonderful, home-cooked food, which you can tell, is made with love. Family & I went for Sunday lunch - a couple of us had the roast beef, which was gorgeous & I had the chicken pie which was stunning. All vegetable accompaniments were nicely cooked, not hardly cooked like you get at some places. We even had a special request, a roast beef lunch to takeaway, for my daughter who wasn't feeling well at home. This request was fulfilled without a bother & the lunch was put in lovely containers, which were easily transported home. Even when warmed up later, everything tasted fabulous! There's lots of good value drinks too, with several real ales on tap. This wasn't our first visit & it certainly won't be our last. Highly recommended.

The Talbot is quickly becoming my favourite Droitwich drinking hole. There are no annoying video gambling machines, no trashy piped music, and no blaring sports TV. Add to this a great range of ales from Craddocks, and you've got the recipe for my kinda pub. The management team are friendly and supportive, and the staff are great.
