Yellow Submarine in Oxford

We stumbled across this delightful cafe by chance this morning on our way back to the railway station. I so wish we had found it sooner during our stay in Oxford. The cafe is bright, clean and welcoming. The smiles and attentiveness from the staff was wonderful. On this occasion we only ordered tea but the selection of pastries and sandwiches available were great and extremely good value. We will most definitely return on our next visit. The young lady who served us was lovely and the staff who are supervising were so patient and caring. It was the nicest, yet most inexpensive drink of our entire trip.

Great food freshly prepared. Coffee is probably the best in oxford. Staff always chatty, friendly and polite. Close to railway station, making it handy if iam early for my train. This charity does great work as I know several people who use it .

Fantastic coffee in a wonderful, very uplifting atmosphere. I always try to stop by this place when I'm near the train station - the coffee's fantastic, and it's hard not to leave without a smile on your face.

I have been to Oxford many times and this was my very first spot I stopped in for coffee on my first visit. I always make time to return for at least one coffee and it is doesn't disappoint. Cute little spot.

The staff was so lovely and kind. The warmness that came from the young woman behind the counter immediately put me at ease! I got a croissant and an iced americano and both were truly perfect. Seating is a bit scarce but while I was looking people made room for me. It was a stellar experience!

This is by far the best place to get coffee in Oxford. Firstly, the coffee and food is amazing, the staff are unbelievably kind and the best bit, this is an amazing social enterprise! Come and support them, they are amazing!

How can you give 5 stars for toast and jam with a coffee? When the sourdough toast is perfectly toasted and hot, the butter creamy and the jam ( blackcurrant) sweet and delicious, all accompanied by a super tasty coffee. Of course it's more than that, it's the service ,the enterprise and the heart of this place. Most coffee shops don't make you feel you are in a place of compassion, that the staff who work there are benefitting more than simply a wage. I've been into The Yellow Submarine several times and found that all the staff are bright,helpful and professional. It truly is a place of wonder. I'm buying merch when I go in next !!!! So I'd urge everyone to step outside the city centre coffee shops ( they do sandwiches too) and go here. You'll leave smiling and wanting to support this fantastic business

Good coffee, one of the managers saw my group taking a selfie and offered to take a picture of us. Everyone in there was very friendly.

I used to work in an office about 10 mins walk from here and would treat myself (leave the packed lunch at home) at least once a week or come with a colleague for an informal lunch. Lovely toasted sandwiches freshly made, great cakes, juice and coffee. Swift service enough that could (within a 'lunch hour') enjoy lunch sat in the cafe, or take it away if it was very busy inside. And it's a social enterprise!

Great breakfast find and visited twice as the littlest loved the cafe, especially his baguette and butter. All the staff were great and had a warm welcome. Love the ethos of this place. The food is fab and coffee great. Can’t recommend highly enough.

I love this place. I come for breakfast and lunch. You can get a full meal for under 5£ and it’s quick and yummy. Most importantly to me, this shop lives by its slogan “life changing cafe”. By eating here, you help the restaurant continue to train and hire individuals who are differently abled. It’s great.

I've just had some Millionaire's Brownies and Lemon Shortbread Flower's delivered to my home and they are delicious and were beautifully packaged. Looking forward to visiting the cafe some time when possible. Thank you!

This cafe is just a few minutes walk from Oxford railway station towards the city centre, and the coffee is excellent (and reasonably priced), possibly the best in Oxford. Very friendly staff and a good range of sandwiches - the sourdough bacon sandwich is a steal at £4.

We called in for breakfast to this café which is very close to the train station. We realised that it was a social enterprise helping young autistic people to learn workplace skills. I was served by a young person in training who was being very well mentored and doing a fine job. We had coffee and toast which was of good quality and a reasonable price. An improvement opportunity I would suggest is that because the seating is all stools, somewhere to hang your coat would be very useful.

Not only excellent coffee, croissants and bacon sandwiches, you get to meet their great staff, who add extra pep to your day. Lunch is good too.

Every single time I'm in Oxford, I come here for the Millionaire Bars. They are remarkable and memorable. The service is also excellent and the place super great. Wonderful place/cause.

They do really nice cakes and sandwiches and the servers are always polite and friendly. The place also has a really nice atmosphere and a community vibe about it.

What a brilliant coffee shop. The staff were amazing. Myself and my daughter had freshly made sandwiches and coffee. Everything delicious. I would recommend anyone who visits Oxford to visit.

Still would visit again, because of the helpful staff and good cause. Tea was delicicious, and for those wondering "oxford brew" is a milder version of earl gray, simlar to lady gray.

I love cafes where people who don't get many chances can learn to serve and then go on to bigger and better jobs. This is a great example of that. Everyone working really hard to make sure it all works. ANd the food is amazing!

Just found this place by accident whilst waiting for a nearby store to open. Wow! Such a happy and positive place. Staff are genuinely kind. Coffee great. Didn’t on this occasion, but it it looked fine! Social enterprise at it’s bloody best! Use it please!

I needed a place to meet a friend who was arriving at the station some time after me and had googled this cafe. It was perfect. The toastie and tea fitted the bill perfectly until she arrived and then we had more drinks together. Service was prompt and friendly and very reasonable prices. I will definitely return here when next in Oxford.

Dropped in today with a colleague for a sandwich and coffee. The coffee was very tasty. The New Yorker sandwich was delicious and very fresh. Good friendly service too.

I've been a regular client and that is because they ate really good at what they do. More important than the great food is the ethos of the cafe.

My Favourite place to get coffee. Delicious food, lots of choice. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Better than any chain coffee shop. I also love how Yellow Submarine support young people with disabilities by giving them opportunities to help enrich their lives and how they bring a smile to all of us.. Thank you! :)

The service here is always fantastic, I love coming here because the staff are so attentive and friendly. They have a good variety of tea and a wide range of food. I almost always go a bit off menu when I got out for food because I'm pretty picky but these guys are always super helpful and really engage in suggestions and ideas - seeming very happy to help, which is really nice.

Nice café. Pleasant people. Good service. Excellent tasting toasted sandwiches, though I was surprised at the lack of any garnish. Small detail, but vital in my view. Suggest at the very least a little cress sprinkled over. Also I wasn't too impressed with the diced sweet potato salad, which was pretty tasteless and £2.50. Coffee was good though, and the fruit drinks. Toilet clean. Recommended, all in all.

The best coffee in town!, served by very friendly people. We also had toasties for breakfast which were very tasty. Once there, we discovered that they support programs to help people with learning disabilities, so great good for a nice cause.

Aside from it's amazing cause and name, the cafe itself had a great, positive vibe all around from the moment I stepped into it. The location of the cafe was excellent, being a kind of stopping point from walking from the train station to Oxford university. We had the mozzarella toastie (which I highly recommend), as well as truly amazing hot chocolate and mocha. The food and drinks were given to us quickly, and we soon found out that this was indeed "oxford's best coffee". I would definetly go again if I could, especially to support this charity- based coffee shop.

Upon entering the Cafe, I was greeted by a pleasant smile and a happy hello. All was going well, I decided to order the Chicken BLT, which in all fairness seemed a good idea... then I opened it but there seemed to be a hair in it, so I tried my best to call over one of their staff, but my efforts did not succeed and had to go up to the counter and say myself. However, I understand & respect that this is a charitable business but I will not be returning anytime soon.

The staff are very friendly the coffee is hot and very good, and is much cheaper than other coffee houses in Oxford and the food is well good, well worth a visit anytime your in oxford, just a short walk from the city centre.

Early in the morning we arrived. The service was very quick and kind. Two ordered a flat white coffee. I drank coffee is better, for me, was of medium quality, but honestly it was made.

My kids and I found this by accident today and what a find! With so many nice, but overpriced, coffee shops around it was great to find somewhere I could take the kids on half term that didn't break the bank.

I had forgotten to order some food for a meeting, and yellow submarine regularly supply sandwiches to us, I went in first thing in the morning at short notice for a sandwich lunch that day. They were so helpful and plated up the sandwiches for presentation at short notice and laid out the cakes nicely for me. Was really helpful.

We visited the yellow submarine at lunch and I hold my hands up...I'm a coffee snob and the coffee here was beautiful! The food was fresh and delicious and there was a lovely warm welcome when we walked through the door. I wasn't aware it was a cafe with a charity attached to it and it was lovely to support an amazing cause.

There needs to be more businesses like yellow Submarine, that have charity and opportunity s the focus. Run by a dedicated team, many of the staff have learning disabilities but that doesn't hold them back from being friendly, efficient and very good at what they do. Coffee is great as are the range of cafe fare such as toasties. All for a reasonable price. Always my go to if travelling for work on the train. Well done you guys, you put many other cafés to shame.

I am lucky enough to have started working over the road from this café. The staff are so friendly and helpful and I have just had the best Tuna Melt toastie I have ever ever tasted !!! It also warms my heart that it is dedicated to give young people with learning difficulties opportunities in the work place.. Pop in you will not regret it !

Visited for coffee and cake while walking from the railway station to Oxford city centre. A lovely cup of coffee and gluten free brownie. The cafe is quite small but wasnt overcrowded. The cafe supports the charitable work of helping disadvantaged young people to achieve work experience and running holidays for children who have special needs. We will return, not only to support a worthwhile cause but, their coffee is great and the service is friendly and welcoming.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the food delicious and quick. They mainly have sandwiches, toasties, (delicious) homemade cakes, croissants, salads and fruit. Lots of sandwiches were ready made to eat in or takeaway, but they also were happy and quick to make any, including a half sandwich for my kid and off-menu fillings. The sandwich fillings were fantastic - not the usual dull offerings but very tempting anf delicious. The price was amazingly good for Oxford, and especially given that it's a charity too. I would have expected to pay more not less. Fun artwork on the walls. Customer toilet. Immaculately clean. Very kid friendly, and wonderful staff interaction with both kids and adults.

Called in with my daughter and had brunch. The staff are superb and try very very hard. The food was good and it was very busy at lunchtime.

The food once it arrives is worth the wait, however, the service is extremely slow from the sandwich/coffee makers not the young staff ..Don't call in for a 'quick' bite unless you have plenty of time..

I've been coming here for quite a while and have never experienced anything other than dedicated and warm people and exceptionally good coffee. The cafe clearly enriches the lives of both trainees and volunteers making for an all-round good place to be.

We dropped in here for a coffee/tea break when wandering around Oxford for the day. My wife's coffee was apparently excellent whilst my mint tea was likewise very good, served with a smile.

Coffee was really good but that was just the half of it, loved the charitable and help minded focus of supporting people with disabilities ins the work place. I recently visited Yellow Submarine with my mum and had a lovely lunch together. We were served by a gentleman who made us feel really welcome, took our order with a big smile and made sure that our order was served exactly how we would like it. We had great customer service the whole time we were there, which along with the yummy food meant we left feeling glad we chose to eat there.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning when i woke up and imagined being in this place and so i began the journey to get my cuppa tea. The tea was magnificent it saturated my tongue with the beautiful taste of a nice warm cup of team am i right or am i right??

I pass this place on the way to work and I'd go out of my way to visit even if I didn't. Everyone is so friendly and the coffee is delicious, possibly the best in Oxford. Such a good cause that it makes no odds that the location isn't particularly glamorous - in fact probably all the better away from the tourist-fleecing spires! Lifts the heart as well as the tastebuds on every visit.

This place does the best cappuccino in town, possibly the world. It is also an excellent social enterprise and has the friendliest staff you could hope for. Their sandwiches are also superb; try the tuna mayo.

Food is fresh, staff are delightful and the welcome is outstanding. The idea of Yellow Submarine is to build confidence in those lacking this. It works by the soup-ful.

this little spare cafe with wooden tables and floor is a charming place to sit in in an otherwise rather ghastly part of Oxford, outside the historic centre on the way to the bombastic Said business school and the railway station. It has good coffee, hot chocolate, and herbal tea - we didn't try the food (which looked fresh and good). The cafe is run by people with disabilities and the atmosphere is homely and helpful. There are nice t-shirts for sale too!

Amazing cause, great food and a great price -- you can't go wrong eating here! It was great for our family with young children. Seating area is small, so go at an off time or plan for take away. Sandwiches were all very good and customer service was great!

The food is good, but the real reason to come is for the staff. They're some of the friendliest cafe staff I've ever met and it is because of them that I only ever get sandwiches from Yellow Submarine.
