They have samples for you to taste the tea before order. I have sweet teeth so milktea is not sweet enough for me 😂 Boba is chewy 👍👍

Formosan is the best bubble tea place in England, i dare say even in europe. The atmosphere, the teas, they leave nothing to be desired. I’ve been there around 10-15 times, and not once have they disappointed. If you’re in oxford, and like tea, it’s the go to place for you for sure. I love ya’ll and kepp doing what you’re doing.

Excellent service and authentic bubble tea! We went to Oxford for the first time a few days ago and found this hidden gem following little signs on the street! Very kind gesture as they provided samples before we ordered to let us find the best we like! The ingredients are all natural and the bubble teas are really good! It is a small shop with lots of orders but definitely worth the wait! Please respect the shop and do not take photos! We will definitely come back if we travel to Oxford again :)

Formosa is the oldest and best bubble tea place in Oxford. A true institution, that still feels in many ways like a hidden gem. Their tea is great, the kombucha is great, and most importantly the vibes are impeccable.

Absolutely beautiful place with beautiful people. The atmosphere really satisfies my desire for peace. The aesthetic makes me think of simpler times and titillates my imagination. The taste of the authentic bubble tea is truly a delight to the senses and will make your mouth happy with flavor! Never have I been treated so kindly whilst being served here. This is one of Oxford's hidden gems.

My daughter and I went today for the first time and Rory was beyond helpful, from a tasting, a guided tour, a personal escort to our table and a description of where and how to sit, to how to get out of the bathroom (one must hit the little green button!) - Wonderful service and exceptional Boba!

No artificial flavour, clean bubble tea. My only bubble tea place in Oxford as all the others are water and powdered artificial nonsense.

A wonderful experience today on my first visit. I went to a competitor yesterday and was very disappointed with the product so found Formosan via Google search when trying to locate a better option. Formosan did not disappoint! The young man who was serving let me try some of the teas to help me select a flavour and gave me helpful advice on the best way to have the tea. I felt very welcome and well looked after and their product was great quality. They even had oat milk. I will certainly be back next time I am in Oxford!

Formosan Tea Bar, I was not familiar with your game 😔🙏✨ I've had the perfect milk black tea and took some black tea kombucha to go too. There are many assets to this lovely place, including but not limited to: - Small but extremely well balanced selection of quality teas - Knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff - Perfectly (and I mean it) soft, bouncy tapioca - A specialised tea room (!!?!) - Relaxed and calm atmosphere - Free sampling before purchase!! - Kombucha on tap! The bar for bubble tea places has well and truly been set. 10/10 would recommend and I hope to be back soon!

The milk tea felt like diluted. Very limited space inside the store.

It is located in a somewhat claustrophobic alleyway, but that only adds to the charm of the place, it is very smartly decorated with wooden finishes and not too big. It has a very nice sitting area in the back for those who have the card (free to obtain). Nice selection of bubble tea drinks, nothing too sugary, served in elegant glasses. Not your typical bubble tea store, it is one step above.

i always love coming to formosan. although the prices may appear to be higher than other bubble tea stores in oxford, the price is totally worth it as everything is completely handmade, from the tea to tapioca pearls. the service is also very friendly and they offer samples of all their tea! the drinks are also completely adjustable as you can make it more sweet. it is a must try in oxford if you’re looking for the most authentic bubble tea :)

This tea bar is the best I’ve been to in my whole life. Great people there, perfect location and the prices are faire given. The only thing that wasn’t the best is that there aren’t many options on the bubbles when you order a bubble tea. But all in all we even got little free try’s on the different types of tea which is a very great idea 👍🏻.

Very good quality bubble tea. A lovely little treasured find in the middle of Oxford, although it’s a bit random how it’s down a slightly dodgy alleyway but it’s well worth the find!

It was a really really good experience!!! The clerk is friendly and let us to try various tea. His mandarin pronounce is perfect. As a Taiwanese, I can say this is the best one I have tried in the UK, and taste similar as Taiwan’s tea!! Also they even have delivery. This tea shop really make my day, I definitely will come back!

It was located in a very discreet and quiet location. When we entered the shop, we were served with samples of their various drinks. I have particularly enjoyed their Oolong Bomba tea which tasted very similar to the ones at Taiwan. Unfortunately, the waiter serving mixed our tea up (only sweetness difference) and the ones we brought has a paler oolong taste compared to the samples. To conclude, I did enjoyed the atmosphere and the hospitality at the store. I would still come back to this store if I’m around.

I always love coming here which isn't enough. If you're more into your traditional high quality bubble teas then this is the only place to go in Oxford. It is also the first ever bubble tea house since 2012. The nice guy behind the counter offered us tasters as we weren't 100% sure which flavour to order. Great to see kombucha served here in different flavours on tap. There's a private room where it looks like a Japanese tea room where people can hire it out to have meetings. Look forward to returning here again.

For the UK this is as good a bubble tea as you can get. It’s spenny. But the real jewel is the seating area - perfect for work and chill! You get to take off ur shoes and sit on this massive kotatsu type table. Pretty cool!

Formosan was here before every other shop on the high street was a bubble tea bar, and unlike them it isn't thirty different flavours of sugar. The concept is simple - black, green or oolong tea; with milk, lemon or honey; with or without pearls - and the execution flawless. The staff are lovely. It's a tiny space and the vibe is welcoming but hushed - it feels like a library. Really great for working in, definitely don't go there for a loud catch up with friends. I'm a bit scared of kombucha but they brew their own which might be a selling point if you like that sort of thing.

I trained as a doctor in medicine, now I'm currently a PhD student in Oxford. I am always looking for clean ingredients in things such as kombucha (self-brewed/no added sugar content) and other teas. Their space is family friendly, and I feel comfortable in there. I enjoy the tasting samples when I first arrived. The kombucha is truly delicious and teas refreshing. They are laptop friendly too. They know their tea growers. Small selection of fresh AF tea varieties and squeezed fruit means you're getting really well done tea every time. In the back is a soft tea room for sitting and drinking. Sit in and drink from a glass or take away. Hot or cold. The baristas are kind and conscientious, eager to share samples and help you make your decision. This is Nice!

Great quality of bubble milk tea with strong tea flavor, fresh milk and soft chewy boba in Oxford. They also offered free sample to try. The atmosphere is excellent, a cute and quiet place to study and hang out. Highly recommend to stop by!

Small, hidden spot tucked down a lane. Friendly service (although can be on slow side), good boba. Wide selection of kombucha, some on tap, is highlight for me with personal favourite "Baked Kombucha." Highly recommend if in Oxford. They also offer delivery.

Love their kombucha — please make delivery to London more reliable, and would be great to be able to collect loyalty stamps when ordering online! Highly recommend giving their unique tea infused kombuchas a try. My other favourite is the jasmine green tea with freshly squeezed lemon juice & honey

My favourite bubble tea shop. It’s down a small alleyway and the atmosphere is very cozy. Authentic tea - no powders - and great pearls. GMP (green milk tea with pearls) is my go-to, but they let you try samples if you are torn between options. During the summer, the lemon teas are fantastic. There is a small sitting room where you can work from.

Absolute hidden gem! Lovely calm and quiet atmosphere and very underrated in terms of bubble tea places in Oxford. Much smaller selection than your major bubble tea chains, but they more than make up for it with the high quality fresh ingredients. Nicest red beans I've had in bubble tea as well.

The tea and pearls are exactly the same as I’ve tried in Taiwan! Simple but full of flavour. I love to have the tea with a tiny bit of sugar or without sugar.

Tucked away down the end of a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ narrow alley, this isn’t the sort of place that you are ever likely to stumble across but if you know it’s there then you will be pleasantly rewarded. Forget about those bright colourful places that peddle all those Matcha, Lychee and other fruity flavours – this place is all about more old-fashioned grown-up blends in a cosy environment. I had the Green Tea with Lemon and it was a veritable refreshing taste sensation – I could taste the Eastern notes and the actual bits of Lemon fruit – this is a world away from what Liptons do! I can’t comment on the milk-based drinks – I would never drink milk! Admittedly the drinks aren’t cheap but if you are on a day trip out in Oxford then you might as well treat yourself. I would’ve given this a five star review but I am dismayed by all the single-use plastic in evidence…isn’t there a more sustainable way of serving these wonderful drinks? I’m one of those types of people who has been really quite cynical about this whole Bubble Tea explosion but if like me you are the type of person who is unlikely to pay to drink any type of tea that isn’t loose-leaf and prefers the more refined brews then this place might just change your mind about Bubble Tea.

Tea is good, but the Polish guy has a terrible attitude towards his staff members. Have witnessed this twice now. There is a difference between being strict and unprofessional and he tells them off rudely infront of customers, instead of handling it in private.

我今天真的是不爽到了 先講商品內容 我點了一杯黑糖珍珠鮮奶 要價2.95英鎊 幹 珍珠有夠難吃 跟咬塑膠一樣沒味道 奶茶也很普通 反正就是我喝一口馬上後悔的程度 然後還打著台灣的名號？ 幹 就不要老闆也不是台灣人 就算是也是出來丟台灣人的臉砸台灣的招牌啦 然後再來 我點那杯飲料 單純只是因為我就想借個廁所 因為英國的公廁真的有夠少 想說買個東西應該可以讓我借廁所吧？ 結果勒 我付完錢 問了店員 店員跟我說店內的廁所是員工專用 客人不能用 要使用還要申請什麼東西的 我他媽尿都在門口了 幹 重點是 我同行的女性友人他媽前一秒才成功借到一模一樣的廁所耶 我尿急就不重要嗎？？？ 有夠雙標== 總之給一星都嫌多 但不能只有我體驗到這種爛店 所以我給五星😎

Nice and authentic Pearl tea shop. Love the Oolong milk tea with pearls and honey black tea. The pearls/bubbles were cooked well. However, the Oolong milk tea was a little bit watery compared to the ones I had in Taiwan and it’s still using plastic straws although it seems to be a problem for all bubble tea shops.

Lovely and cosy atmosphere with a nice seating area, which is now open! The owner is very passionate about what he does. The teas, most if not all, are tasty, natural, and home-made. A great local shop. My fav is warmed jasmine green tea with milk. And the extra pearls are free! Highly recommended!

Hidden gem. Proper, authentic Taiwanese bubble tea. If you are/ live in Oxford and want to try pearl milk tea, this is the place to do so! You can adjust both ice and sugar, ask the staff for more information.

I’m by no means a bubble-tea expert but Formosan was the first place I had bubble tea from back in 2016 (it was one of the few bubble tea places in Oxford then) and I’ve been going there regularly ever since. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable, their recommendations are always great and if you are not familiar with their menu they will do their best to guide you through it. I don’t have a favourite bubble tea and usually go with whatever seems best on the day but as a general suggestion would recommend their lemon-bases options as a refreshing summer drink and their milk-based options for the winter. They serve bubble tea both warm and cold but I always go for the cold option. If I had to pick a favourite, the ones I got for most often are the baked Oolong tea (OMP) from the milky options and the Jasmine green tea (GLP) from the lemony options. So far the only tea I have tried and not liked was the crushed almonds special tea (AMP) but this was very much a matter of personal preference as the tea was really well made as always. One of their products that does not get enough recognition is their kombucha which they make themselves - it is better than anything you will buy in a store so do give it a try (if you are not familiar with their options they usually allow tasting before you buy) Finally, the atmosphere and internal decor in Formosan is one of it’s main assets: the interior is calming, the decoration is very elegant, and soothing music plays in the background making it feel like you are entering another world. Seating is not available at the moment due to restrictions but once they allow it the bar is a wonderful alternative to the business and noisiness of Oxford cafes Only compliments and appreciation from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The best place for bubble tea in Oxford by far! Other places make the tea far too sweet. The guys at Formosan are always very friendly and the quality of the tea is excellent. They also serve kombucha made with various teas that are all delicious! The matcha bubble tea is extra delicious. It takes a little while longer to make but is worth the wait!

Best bubble tea in Oxford, with a very simple menu where everything is just delicious. They also make a very tempting kombucha, which I have yet to try! Also, the service is friendly and lovely, and the location in a little side-alley is cute and quaint. An obligatory stop before a walk in Christ Church Meadow.

If you want authentic, yummy bubble tea. Take the time to walk into the alley to the world of formosan. The pearls are super soft, the flavors and super real and the flavor is just right! The staff are super nice, and take the time to explain the products (I got to taste all the kombucha!). They're happy to adjust even for crazy people who want 3 shots of sugar, and the ambience makes me want to keep going back!

This is very traditional Taiwanese bubble tea spot, the teas are not super sweet like the commercial places. Quite nice, but some teas might be a little to strong or bitter so I would definitely state your likes and dislikes. There is also a lovely tea room, where you take your shoes off and sit on the floor around a low table. Overall a lovely place, great calming vibes. The young lady that served us was very sweet and helpful.

Venturing outside my house for the first time in months, it had to be Formosa one of my pre-corona haunts. Tea delicious as per usual. I see the staff disinfecting areas after people sit, you have to sanitize your hands on arrival with provided sanitizer. My one point is that I was disappointed I could not add on a pound or two to tip staff for their work (especially considering they were on furlough for months). Could this be added ?

Can I give 6 stars?? If so I definitely will :) ! Formosan Tea Bar was fantastic! The location is hidden but makes it more cosy and it was nice that there were some place for people who wanted to work as well. The staff member were really lovely and they gave you a taster before you order which was really nice touch when you don't know which one to get :) I have tried many bubble teas in Oxford but have to say this is my favourite!! (I do love Bubbleology too...) But Definitely more authentic and just nice environment to catch up with friends and drink good quality bubble tea. There were some teas from a tap? which I did not try but would love to try that next time. Finding ways to reduce the plastic straws will be even better but I understand that this is a difficult task to do. Will come back again :)! Also having student discount can help more as well. Also updating the website with more what kind of tea flavour they have can help bring more customers too :)! It said that we cannot take photos? which I was not sure why this is.

Best bubble tea in Oxford by a long shot. No weird flavors and gloopy boba like some of the high-street shops, just proper Taiwanese teas and perfectly balanced flavors. It's on the higher-end price wise (although not the most expensive in Oxford) but well worth the extra few pence. Swinging by for takeaway has been a highlight of our lockdown walks recently.

Came here after a disastrous experience at Bubbleology around the corner and couldn't have made a better decision. Peaceful, polite staff, willing to serve and give samples to taste. Tea tastes natural and not artificial like other places aforementioned. Will be coming back.

After touring around the UK and having tried so many bubble tea shops, I think this place is the best Taiwanese Bubble tea shop in the UK. The tea is of high quality and their bubbles are the best. Their kompucha is also a must try!
