When I visited Yauatcha first time in 2005 I was amazed. The popularity of the Asian cuisine around the world and the opportunity to try many others throughout those years left me skeptical to try it again. After all, I already had such a superb memory of the place and going again was more of a risk to shatter that rather than build up on it. Yesterday, I went with my friends and enjoyed the food again. I didn’t have the same amount of amazement, but I applaud the continuous quality they kept up during all these years. The only thing to note is the egg fried rice, which was bland. Anything else, feel free to dive in!

Had no idea that the icon next to certain items on the menu meant it was a signature dish... look out for these. All good save for noodles where I prefer their Singapore ones. A little unimpressed that the mains came out one at a time - what's that about? We wanted to share mains. The chairs and table are very low (I suspect this ensures quick table turnover) but the restaurant was buzzing - the desserts (pictured) were lovely.

Our long-planned visit to the renowned Yauatcha in London turned out to be an absolute stroke of luck. As soon as we entered we were overwhelmed by the sensational interior of the restaurant. The combination of modern design and traditional elements creates an inviting atmosphere that invites you to linger. What particularly impressed us was the skilful combination of casual dining and sophisticated cuisine. The selection of dishes was varied and offered something for every taste. From the classic dim sums to creative fusion dishes - every single dish impressed with its freshness, variety of flavors and aesthetic presentation. Of particular note are the dim sums, which are undoubtedly some of the best we have ever tried. Tender meat, aromatic fillings and wafer-thin dough – every bite was a pleasure for the senses. The service at Yauatcha was equally remarkable. The staff was attentive, friendly and competent. They were happy to give us recommendations and ensured that our visit was an unforgettable experience. Overall, we were very impressed with our visit to Yauatcha. For anyone looking for a first-class dining experience combined with sensational decor and casual dining, Yauatcha is undoubtedly the perfect choice. We can't wait to return and explore more of their fascinating cuisine.

The food was good, although nothing special. We ate here on Christmas eve and were thankful to have found someplace nice that was open. We had a reservation which was a must. We sat upstairs where the decor is modern and pleasant. There is also a large seating area in the basement which doesn't have the best atmosphere - kind of dark and boring. The service was good. It was pricey for what we got, but it was Christmas eve so maybe things were marked up for the holiday. Since there are so many really great places to eat in London, while it was fine, we'll try something else next time.

The quality of the food was good. Recommend the chilli squid, prawn toast, and sweet and sour pork. A two star review because the price of the wine was unrealistic. £70 for Whispering Angel, and Chablis starting at £82. The former retails at £16 and is typically £40-£50 in any good restaurant. Simply too expensive vs your peers to return. If your tables are full then keep charging what you do, if bookings have slipped then it may be time to check your pricing strategy.

Yauatcha Soho proved to be the ultimate destination for celebrating Lunar New Year. The atmosphere was vibrant and celebratory, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. The meal was nothing short of exquisite, with standout dishes like their sumptuous dim sum, expertly crafted cocktails, and delectable pastries that left a lasting impression on our taste buds. It was dinner time when we were walking through Soho and we ended up at the door of this restaurant. We asked for dinner without a reservation and they were kind enough to make room for us, but from then on the situation for us got much worse. Firstly, they sat us at a table one meter from a bar where they were serving drinks, with very little light and quite noisy people. It was quite unfortunate to have to look at the menu with the flashlight of your cell phone, it was not pleasant to have the feeling of having dinner in a nightclub or a cocktail bar. Secondly, they took a long time to serve us, we only ordered some rice, a soup, a sweet and sour pork and a duck. The duck arrived first, but almost an hour after we sat down, and the rest a long time later. And finally the price seemed excessive for what we ate (£6 for a bottle of water seems outrageous to me). What we ate was not bad, but not much better than any half-decent oriental restaurant. In fairness it must be said that the staff was friendly and attentive. Perhaps my assessment would have been better in other circumstances, but my assessment on this occasion is of a Chinese restaurant with the air of a nightclub.

My husband and I booked Sunday lunch for 13:30 but were in the area at 13:00 so stopped in and asked if we could have our table early. Efficient staff at reception said of course and we were immediately seated street level as requested when we booked. Attentive service from the start from Mamun who was personable yet professional throughout our meal. We asked if he could ensure our food was brought out slowly so we could relax and not feel rushed; he ensured we never had more than two items on the table at any given time. Food was great as is always the case. Cheung fun has to be the best dim sum on the menu, followed closely by the Venison puffs and Prawn toast. Ended our meal with a couple of special Dragon macarons on the dessert menu. For us, Yauatcha has always been consistent with its quality of both food and service; today was no exception. Thanks again to Mamun for ensuring our afternoon was an enjoyable one.

I've really enjoyed previous meals at Yauatcha, but it seemed to have gone downhill both in terms of food quality and ambience. We sat downstairs but it wasn't low lighting or atmospheric as it had been when we visited previously. The service was lack-lustre and it was hard to get anyone's attention to order wine. We had a vegetarian set menu. The dimsum starters were all tasty and the edamame puffs were the highlight of the whole meal. The main course of stir-fried green beans was underwhelming and more like a side dish except for the quantity - really just plain green beans with some seasoning -we ended up leaving a lot of it. The dessert was forgettable. I can see that they've changed the menu since we went, which I hope is an improvement.

Miserable dining experience facilitated by a restaurant team that wilfully commit an offence by knowingly continue to serve people who are already drunk. We were seated at 4:30pm and shortly after this, a couple who were clearly already drunk were sat in the same area as us. The next 2 hours they proceeded to shout and scream non-stop, and if they weren't sliding off their chairs, they were jumping up and stamping around other guests tables. This included, among many other interesting statements, shouting to the restaurant that they didn't respect people in the military because they only spend 12 months in Afghanistan, whereas they've spent several years in Thailand, so they have more world experience. Other tables made complaints with the staff, who proceeded to do nothing and continue to bring rounds of tequila shots to the drunk couple. The entire section of the restaurant looked completely miserable and we obviously weren't the only people who had our meal ruined. The restaurant team is either unable to ensure a good dining experience, or they do not care about providing one. Beyond this though, they also appear happy to operate illegally by breaking the Licensing Act which is supposed to prevent people like this from continuing to be served. This meal experience cost £170 for 2 people.

I’m a little concerned, I wonder if they’ve changed management or did we just go at a weird time? I had lunch there for my sisters birthday. We had the “fragrant” rice which is usually an edamame rice which has a slight green color to it, as in really pale green because of the beans but this time the rice was a bright green like they had put food colouring in it. It was so bad, it didn’t taste like it used to, the pancakes that usually come with the duck are always so good but this time they had an odd texture, then the sweet and sour pork, it wasn’t the same either. The waiting staff were also not what we are used to, they were rushing us and made it seem like we were bothering them when we asked for more time. I’ve been going to Yauatcha for 8 years and this was my first bad experience and I’m hoping it was just a one off because I love the restaurant.

Saw the good review on google and decided to give a try. Har gao and siew mai is okay, stir fried veg there’s flavor. They Kuey Yeow and cheung fun was really good. Down side was the waitress was very impatient with us, we just ask 1 question. Have to ask 2 times for chili sauce. however very friendly and attentive with other customer. Will appreciate if the same service level is given to all customers.

A very trendy place and modern setting. It’s mainly famous for their delicious and various types of dumplings. They have the best crispy duck you can eat in London.

Brought a large group of friends here for the third time. Nice food, impersonal and unattended service, noisy venue. Also quite uncomfortable chairs/sofas. Desert was impossible to share in an elegant way between the 6 of us. A place that used to be amazing but has unfortunately lost its charm and attention to the experience completely. Feels a bit like a tourist trap.

EDITING be aware if you do online reservation, in case you need to cancel it: I did a reservation online for lunch, then I did try to cancel, by calling directly the Soho restaurant, stayed long time on hold, waiting for my time to talk with someone....... mission impossible, they diverted me at the answer machine, where I left 2 voice message said that i would cancel my reservation, my name etc etc then I wrote an email with my reservation, name etc etc, to be sure........ Everything in less than an hour........ despite that I NEVER receive the confirmation email for the original reservation nor for the cancellation, THEY JUST TOOK 200£ from my card, UPDATE thanks for the manager answer, and full refund as arrived! feeling better about you guys

This place will divide the crowd I went with friends many of whom loved it The music was so loud I could not hear anyone The vegan menu was horrible and the dishes where brought out at a ridiculous pace before we had time to finish the first one Waiters would just stick there arm repeatedly between me and the next person who I was talking to with no care for the disturbance it caused The bill for all this was outrageous I would say this was the worst dining experience I can remember in London Others will completely disagree and can’t wait to return

In definitiva L’ anatra è rimasta in cucina ….
