This hotel is total disaster from bottom to top. I had to stay there several times because of business, and every time it was catastrophic experience. Once i was taking bath and it was 12st January and the bath started flooding the bathroom itself and a room! all my clothes was on a floor, and i did stay for one night with no luggage and no other clothes even a pants or socks! The clothes was completely and utterly wet, i have called the reception and the best solution 5* boutique hotel could offer ist to take my credit card go to buy h&M; something to wear! Although they double the amount they have spend `(£50) 5 days after i left, they have bought completely wrong sizes and they did also not bothered to ask how much does my branded clothes cost to compensate as i had no choice bu to throw it to the bin.

It's early days for this French-Vietnamese hybrid just off Leicester Square. While the food is stunning, the prices are a little eye-watering and on our visit there seemed to be way more staff than customers, who were talking to each other across the rather small restaurant room, seemingly oblivious to how awkward this made the very few paying diners feel. Being so close to the hotel reception desk is also a bit odd - you get the occasional tourist traipsing through the restaurant with their luggage, or heading out into London via the restaurant doors. Fix the lack of ambience and focus on giving the customers an overall experience that matches the food quality (and the high-end prices) and they should be onto a winner.

Really delicious, fresh British food, beautifully cooked, and at very reasonable prices. The pre theatre set menu is very good - when I last went, there was beautifully cooked meat, came with different veg to those listed, but all very good. Slightly disappointing roulade for dessert, but that is the first time I've had something there which didn't hit the mark. It is in a slightly odd spot, tucked away off Leicester Square, and seems to be quite quiet whenever I go, which I rather like sometimes - but don't go if you want somewhere really lively.

There's only an either/or choice on the pre-theatre menu but both the main course (fish) and the pudding (roulade) were really outstanding. (The artichoke and pea starter was, to my taste, so delicate as to be dull, but exquisitely presented!) I'm told it has a Michelin star - very likely. A bonus is that wine was from £5 a glass and that for £11 I had a terrific, properly strong cocktail in a bar that was agreeably peaceful at 5.30 on a Saturday when everywhere else off Leicester Square was heaving. (You don't get extras - freebie nuts, etc, but at this price, who cares?)Warning: Don't confuse it with One Leicester Street Penthouse - it's the other end of this very short street.

Lovely bar, but for £12 per drink it is lacking the service. Bar not busy but still need to wait for hours for a drink. Anything between 0-3 staff behind the bar with very little drinks being served. Seen actually few people sit down and then head off due to lack of service. Real shame, since this is a real hidden gem. Lovely bar otherwise.

I am absolutely love this restaurant. I have been several times and it never disappoints. Finding yourself in theatre land in a pit of tourist ridden chain restaurants you can escape to an amazing restaurant here. The food has built on the St. John concept after the departure of Fergus Henderson and now carries an identity of its own. A pre meal drink at the bar is a must as the cocktails and friendliness of the staff is amazing. True favourite worth a detour!

Kudos to Leo Carreira and the Viajante team for a brilliant popup dinner at One Leicester Street. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in recent years, primarily because of the intimacy into which you are placed with your fellow diners and with the staff. This is the first time I've had a communal fine dining experience and it blew me away. The food was obviously great as would be expected and was proportioned perfectly - I was beginning to think I would leave hungry from smaller courses, but then the Iberico pork came just at the right time. Just a tremendous evening and being able to meet the others at the table and discuss the various dishes (with the chef even) added so much to the experience. And the price for everything was simply too good to be true.I hope that the team is successful in this venue, and I couldn't recommend this more.

We booked this restaurant for a pre-theatre meal because of its location near the theatre and the fact it was in the Good Food Guide. The greeting was friendly and efficient, and since we were early, we were offered the choice of any table in the restaurant, a nice touch. The decor is a bit sombre but pleasant. There is a choice of either a pre-theatre menu (2 or 3 courses) available before 6.30 pm, or a la carte. The pre-theatre menu had a choice of three dishes in each course, but we couldn't see anything we liked so we chose from the a la carte, and for reasons of time, missed out on starters. However, even the a la carte menu is limited, and for example, of the 6 fish dishes - 4 were shellfish, one was vegetarian and only one was fish. If you're allergic to shellfish, this is very limiting. I would have expected at least two dishes to be plain fish. However, enough of the issues, the food we did choose came relatively quickly and was absolutely delicious, perhaps a bit rich, but very very tasty. Thoroughly enjoyable. The dessert was equally good as was the strong coffee with which we ended. Very well worth the visit. There was a cocktail list, and a selection of wines by the bottle and by the glass - we had a glass of the Nyetimber which was excellent.Service throughout was outstanding - cheerful, caring and very efficient. We didn't feel rushed, nor anxious that we wouldn't be finished in time for the theatre. We were glad we had booked and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

First visit but won't be the last, the food and service were great. The lunch menu although limited is very adventurous with some great combinations. Saying that I had a chicken and leek pie which may sound boring but it had the richest short crust pastry made with so much butter it melted in your mouth and the most succulent pieces of chicken in a beautiful creamy sauce. The wife's pork collar was amazing and far more adventurous but perfectly cooked.

We had lunch here on 3 January before seeing Martin Shaw in 12 Angry Men. Both experiences were excellent. The restaurant was virtually empty but the man on reception bizarrely went to ask if there was a table. It wasn't a good start but from the moment the friendly and knowledgeable waitress greeted us everything was very enjoyable. This must be one of the best value lunches around - £19 for 3 courses - with great value wine too. Try the middlewhite pork with celariac, the squash, goats curd and hazlenut and the excellent beef with beans. Even the home made biscuit with the cheese was exceptional. But what you really must not miss if they have any is the brown butter and honey tart. Sublime. And no, don't go there if you want gravy on your food!

An oasis of quiet and good food in the otherwise awful surroundings or Leicester Square and therefore very necessary. Glad to see that although the team behind Viajante has taken over, they kept the chefs that worked with Fergus Henderson and the menu is still very much "St John" which means unusual parts of animals and lots of seafood and shellfish to choose from, British cheese and delicious puddings in the form of main courses as well as sharing dishes. Excellent service, friendly, personable and attentive. Highly recommended.

This is one of my 'locals' and I regularly invite friends, colleagues, and family to enjoy fabulous reinvented British food. Everything is accurate: ingredients, tastes, textures, cooking modes and times. The result is deceptively 'simple'. From breakfast to Sunday roast, every meal the restaurant offers is worth going for. A little gem in an area where far too many restaurants favour glitz over substance. One Leicester Square does not...

My friend & I booked this restaurant for the Sunday lunch deal - 2 courses for £19.50 prior to our trip to the theatre to see The Commitments, which was great & well worth seeing. Anyway, the restaurant is small but tastefully decorated & you can see the chefs at work, which is always great. Our waiter was very friendly & attentive & the service was quick but we didn't feel rushed at all. When we arrived there were only a couple of tables occupied but they all started filling up from 1pm till it was full. The food itself was very tasty, I had the roast pork, which was a huge portion but sadly an issue with the ovens meant no crackling :-( My friend had the roast beef, which came medium rare, so if you like it more done than this, make sure you let them know. Both portions were very generous & more than enough to fill you up for the rest of the day. The wine selection was very varied with the least expensive red at £21.00, which was actually very good. I would recommend this for a pre-theatre meal for value for money & friendly, quick service.

I had visited the restaurant almost a year ago, when it was owned by Ferguson. Today the owner is a hotelier, as in the same building there are 15 guest rooms. The chef is Tom Harris, who - if I am not mistaken - was also in charge of the team under the previous ownership. Needless to say, I was quite curious to taste the food as Ferguson had set the bar very high indeed. Well, I was handsomely rewarded for my will to try. We had the smoked cod's roe and devilled pig's skin as a shared appetizer, and then brawn, white cabbage and mustard accompanied by roasted squash, childwickbury (a soft white cheese) and dill. We finished our meal with the plum, toasted almond and creme fraiche pudding, and colston bassett (cheese), oat biscuit and apple. Everything was delicious. It suffices to say that eventhough I am not a vegetarian, I enjoyed the roasted squash immensely. In other words, Tom Harris cooks tasty food! An this is a good enough reason to visit. If you combine this with the excellent service and the down to earth prices, you have an irresistible treat.

Had dinner here this evening, and on the whole, it was very good.A small intimate dining room with a view of the kitchen offering interesting food combinations and an extensive wine list.We had the choice of ordering from the Pre-Theatre dinner menu, which was 2 or 3 courses, or from the regular menu with lots of sharing plates. I had the smoked duck, which was delicate and buttery, with beets and walnuts. I also had the Middlewhite Pork served with turnip greens. The pork was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, and there was a lovely bit of crackling on the side. Dessert was rhubarb curd with creme fraiche sorbet and raspberries. The descriptions on the menu did not do the desserts justice. My only complaint was that the food was lukewarm when it arrived at the table, and I am not convinced that the Stilton was appropriately served with sweet oatcakes and apple chutney. However, on the whole, it was an excellent meal, and certainly would return to try something different.

When we saw the menu we weren't sure what to make if it but so glad we persevered. The waitress could see us struggling so she gently led us through the menu suggesting we share starters, which we were so happy we did. We tried the amazing pig skin with roe, beautifully cooked carrots with a crumbly goats cheese, fennel with crab and mussels - all delicious. Then we has the sausages with white beans & fennel as well as the plaice with girolles. Never had I seen such a thick piece of plaice, it was quite chunky but beautifully cooked. The wine list was equally interesting - I think our red was from Bulgaria and they plan to have Croatian wines next. You could watch Tom Harris & his team cooking in the open kitchen. He even came over & chatted to us. Our only complaint was the inordinate effort it took to book a table by phone. Yes the restaurant is no longer part of the St John group, but the St John staff coukd have made it easier for us to book. Tom Harris is still in charge of the kitchen so the quality remains. Tom really ought to market himself & the restaurant more because he really does have something to shout about. We loved it & will definitely be back. Highly recommended

We had a gluten-free diner with us but the staff really understood the menu well so were able to ensure there were no problems there. The £16.00 2 course menu is excellent value given where the restaurant is located (just off Leicester Sq) and had a reasonable selection of dishes. The food is certainly more adventurous that many a pre-theatre offering in other restaurants, but none the worse for that. The dishes were all freshly prepared & my wife was particularly complimentary about her crab starter.Four of us chose the monk fish main course, but they only had 2 portions left so the restaurant used (more expensive) halibut instead without any hesitation. The wine was a £29 bottle of Rioja rose (or blush for our American readers!). Overall, a great place to go & thank you for giving us a great dinner before a great show!

Rarely do you get service so good. Sometimes attentive service can be intrusive or bothersome, but here it was just right. They bring the dishes to life and if you've got an adventurous palate some taste surprises await you!You can have this as a traditional dinner or as a more tapas style sharing experience. I had the asparagus with pigs cheek ham and walnut and pigeon egg yolk with grated kirkingham cheese followed by roasted duck served with chard and some excellent minted peas. To finish I wanted three different items on the dessert menu and they created a tasting experience whereby I could have the brown butter and honey tart (light and delicious), the salted caramel and noisette dessert (very nice) and the cord, stitchilton and kirkingham cheeses with oat biscuits and amazing london city natural honeycomb. We had the sangiovese wine and plenty of glasses of champagne and other drinks. After St John's and Quo Vadis, we definitely note a trend in London. Use local, simpler foods and herbs (offals are top of the crop). Serve them fresh in inventive mix (pig skin as crisps for cod roe, a fabulous appetizer). Use a modest yogurt, add some blood orange sorbet and meringue and yummie ! Ask what the ingredients are as they are not always familiar names and you will be surprised and will enjoy an unusual and delicious meal (ok forget about your diet, as this is delicious fat and salty accompaniments ).In tourist-land behind Leicester square, this is a find, small and clean lines, you will love the food and the attention to details. Interesting selection of wines, well curated. We will be back, it is a promise.

Finding 100% authentic Vietnamese food in London isn’t easy, but Viet Food really stands out to me. It’s an absolute gem in Chinatown, London. I love that they put a lot of effort into the food, the atmosphere, and the details that remind me of Vietnam. From the menu design to the painting of a street corner in Vietnam and even the traditional cutlery like coconut bowls, everything feels so thoughtful and cozy. It’s like stepping into a little piece of Vietnam in the middle of London. I also love that they serve a variety of family-style dishes. There are many options to choose from, but I usually go for Pho, BBQ pork, summer spring rolls...What I love most is that, compared to other Vietnamese places we’ve tried - whether dining in or ordering through apps - the prices here are super reasonable for the quality. The portions are really generous, and my husband and I always leave feeling completely full. Highly recommend!

Very delicious Indian food in the area. Generous portions and value for money. The cheese naan was especially good. They also offer £6 lunch boxes which have very large servings. Definitely coming back.
