The cost is not worth the value. The pre-set menu for 2 people brings too much food that one couple cannot possibly finish, and that goes to waste, instead of providing a wider range of dishes in smaller portions. Or simply something cheaper for less food. The cocktails are unreasonably priced and the ambiance, though trying to be “quiet”, is loud, with added music that is also too loud. Service was great, some food items really interesting and well presented, but way too expensive in the end. Apple Maps shows it as a 2 out of 4 dollar signs - it should be 4 out of 4 dollar signs for price.

We had a lovely relaxed dinner here, only one note is if one person has the quarter crispy duck as their main, make sure to ask it comes at the same time as the other mains or you’ll be eating alone until they fire the next main

We decided to have a quick lunch here after having been to their Soho branch before and being impressed. I have previously dined here also, but that was back in 2017. It was excellent then, so with the fact that the restaurant is still operating, I assumed the food was still on that level. Unfortunately, I was wrong. We ordered dim sum, cod, noodles and rice with sparkling water and kombucha as drinks. The first point to note is that the server mistakenly brought q bottle of still water to the table. That’s no big deal but as they weren’t busy at that point, it was a mistake nevertheless. However, It was a >30 minute wait for the dim sum and a 45 minute wait for the rest of the food, which my husband (who is East Asian) found bland, tasteless and of very average quality. I happened to agree with him. The main dish cod was tiny, had barely any flavour and was cut into five small pieces. It was not a premium cut and frankly could have been any white fish, if you know what I’m saying there. Both the rice and the noodles were very bland. Supposedly the rice was meant to have egg in it but I didn’t see any and the Singapore noodles had barely anything of substance in them apart from overcooked prawns and scraggy little pieces of octopus. When we came to pay the bill there was a ‘discretionary’ charity donation already added to the bill. Ok, fine but it’s not cool to take someone’s money without notice that you’re going to do so. I like to know a bit about a charity before I CHOOSE to donate. It’s only £1, but this isn’t a good way to get donations. Ratings: the dim sum are good but not outstanding: 3/5 The rest of the food: 2/5 Service: 3/5 they are polite but make mistakes and are repeatedly at your table refilling your glass. It almost feels like you’re having your meal with them. I did also reluctantly have to ask how long our main food was going to take, despite having been only the second party to go in as we went in as soon as the restaurant opened at 12pm. Ambience: 2/5: The wait staff are overly attentive to the point that they don’t leave you in peace for a minute. This spoilt the experience. They didn’t work like this in Soho. I’d never return here as it’s expensive just to eat very average food which is not enjoyable at all for the money paid. I don’t mind a long wait for food, if it is worth it. Put bluntly, it isn’t here. The dim sum are ok so I’d advise anyone who has to go there for a business lunch to only have those.

Terrible experience. Will not be going back again. Ordered a drink which was completely bitter (Lychee cocktail) and was told that it’s not bitter. Didn’t quite understand why I was being challenged. Waiter was rude, we all ordered one rice each and only brought out 2 and said the 4 of us had to share. 5 mins later they brought out 2 more rice. Completely bad service. Will not be going again

This is the best dim sum place in London in terms of food quality and service. Price is probably a bit high but worth every penny according to my taste buds. The dim sums were super fresh, and presented beautifully, creatively and generously. The staff really took time to introduce and explain the food properly so you understand what you are eating which you don't see often even in London. I also tried their signature moon cakes before which are to die for. Highly recommended!

The starters and dim sum at Yauatcha is the best part of the meal - not really fussed on the mains. All of the staff are attentive and polite however Mo went above and beyond for us and it was really appreciated. Totally underwhelming food and service. Front of house staff felt quite confused, and most of the time appeared to congregate chatting rather than tending to diners. ¼ crispy duck was generous… however, wasn’t impressed with the remains of a bao bun in the bamboo basket lid the pancakes were served in. Egg fried rice was very dry, borderline stale… distinctly not Asian, and not at all impressed with the pride/arrogance I received when I challenged. Simply impossible to eat with chop sticks, unless you want to go grain by grain. Also surprised to see Hakkasan come up on my bill… should I expect the same standard if we dine there?

I have used yauacha in Soho several times and this was my first time visiting the city. The elegant Chinese food warmed my insides. After all, Asian food is satisfying. Disappointing and definitely not worth the money. Staff were awkward and not very friendly. Service was an ok pace however. I tried 3 different seafood dim sum and they all tasted very similar, pretty bland, nothing special and not better than dim sum I could get somewhere else for half the price. The only slightly interesting one was the seafood truffle one. The milk and cookies petit gateau was very good. But you can just buy the pastries separately. Don't recommend, not worth it for either the atmosphere or the food, and definitely not at that price.

As ever the food was really good, the variety is always excellent and always good quality. Unfortunately however, whilst the food was good the overall ambience and experience was not. The server was friendly but as the restaurant got busier service soon slowed, food was slow to come out and service less attentive. we also saw that an event was on so it was quite loud and it wasn’t a nice relaxed atmosphere as I had previously experienced on other visits. We also had a minor issue where our server had got a bit of our order wrong so we were left waiting for an item we expected, given the speed of service slowed this meant we were waiting quite a bit a while.

Yauatcha City: A Dim Sum Experience That Falls Short Yauatcha City, owned by the Hakkasan Group, has established itself as a popular dim sum destination in London. However, on my recent visit, the experience left me feeling a little underwhelmed. Getting to Yauatcha City is easy via public transport. Numerous buses stop nearby, and the venue is a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. Be aware that there is no car parking available. Look for the distinctive blue door and take the elevator to the restaurant floor. They also boast a patisserie downstairs for those with a sweet tooth. The first thing you might notice upon entering is the limited table space. While the restaurant itself isn't tiny, the tables are quite close together, making it tricky to navigate with a large group and multiple dishes. The decor is also rather plain – not bad, but certainly not opulent. Thankfully, the service was a bright spot. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. However, the food itself fell short of expectations, especially considering the price point. There are definitely better Asian restaurants offering similar fare for a more reasonable cost in the area. Let's delve into the specifics: Wagyu Beef Puff: This is one of Yauatcha's signature dishes, but the Wagyu filling was rather skimpy. The pastry itself was decent, with a nice crunch, but the star of the show was noticeably absent. Spicy Soft Shell Crab: This dish lived up to its reputation as one of the menu's highlights. The crab was perfectly cooked with a satisfying spice level. Pan-fried Lamb with Red Pepper and Onion: This felt like a less exciting version of the lamb dishes offered at other restaurants. It wasn't bad, but it lacked any special spark. Salt and Pepper Lobster Tail, Mooli Cake: Disappointingly, the garlic flakes seemed to be the dominant flavor here, overshadowing the lobster itself. The batter lacked complexity, and the lobster meat portion wasn't particularly generous. Hand Pulled Noodles: These were a bright spot! The in-house made noodles were springy and delicious, especially when dressed with the provided chili oil and soy sauce. Overall, Yauatcha City is an average Asian restaurant. While the service is commendable and there are some decent dishes, the high price point paired with the underwhelming food leaves it feeling forgettable. There are better options out there for a truly memorable dim sum experience.

Last minute dinner with friends and really wanted to try Yauatcha as had long been recommended. It was a hot sunny evening and the place was busy. It has quite a lot of background noise which I liked as you could chat and not feel you were being listened to. More of a "buzz" I would say. The food is very good. Crispy duck is not the best I've had (Min Jiang is the go to for that) but is good (shredded rather than my preferred sliced!). We all enjoyed the food and the environment. Kitchen was too busy with orders and we ended up waiting over an hour for food. Did not deliver all food together - chaotic experience. Manager tried to push the blame to us by saying we should have known this was an Asian experience and that food arrives as an when it's ready. We overheard another manager tell the waiters to not take anymore orders. Food eventually came 2 hours after we entered the building. We got up and left.

We chose off the a la carte one pork based dish for me then a range of things my vegetarian guest and I could share; all the dim sum was a glooopy mess of pastes and unexciting flavours with deeply unappealing levels of food colour in the pastry. Food is great but the environment is just okay. Their Cantonese dim sum is a new fusion type, a mixture of high quality ingredients and modern cooking techniques. If you expect classical Cantonese dish and fine dining experience, this might not be the right place. The servants are all nice; however, I found the tables too close to each other. The environment is also too noisy. In simple words, you get the food you pay for but the dining experience is not much different to Din Tai Fung.

A disaster of a Chinese New Year meal. Firstly there were other people still sat on half of our table when we arrived, with some of our party on one end! There’s no doubt that dim sum here is ok. But the rest of the menu went from under seasoned (Chilean sea bass) to inedible (Alaskan king crab cooked poorly and with meat that would not come out of the shell, also shell with no shellfish picks?) and all the large plate dishes came out beyond late and staggered. A little embarrassing that they also sent out dirty champagne glasses. Which had to be collected and then new ones sent out. And service was absent or just apologetic for the kitchen when they were around. They also tried to charge us for crackers that we eventually ordered to bridge the 45-60 minute gap between penultimate dishes and all the mains… as an experience this could’ve been so much more easily handled by the FOH team. Was compensated with comp’d drinks and menu price reduction but still disappointing.

Disappointing. I quite like Hakkasan and I was expecting similar quality. This was run of the mill cheap takeaway level.

Daylight robbery! Had dinner on 9 Feb for 4 pax. Chinese New Year set menu priced at around £100 ++ is absolutely ridiculous for what we got… 3 pieces of dim sum each, 4 mains and one rice to share, no desert or drinks included… food was tasty but for the volume and quality it just wasn’t right… my two prior occasions with the Soho branch I thought wasn’t great value but this one was outright absurd. Maybe it was an implicit cover charge for the lion dancers… ended up paying £140 pp for the set menu with two cocktails each, and no dessert… disgusting.

I much prefer the city brunch rather than the soho one Their only downside is service , which js not consistent and really depends on who is your waiter for the night Overall last night was good from both service and quality of the food

Sophisticated and very well designed place. Great dim sums and value for money. P.S. Honestly first time that happens in my life, where a server, without asking me,takes my napkin and puts it on my lap… that was really confusing and not very professional. For the rest, great place .

Had to request the advertised lunch option which was a selection of dim sum starters main course dishes. Food was impeccable with great presentation.

We had the vegan set menu, which was delicious. There was more than we could eat but the staff very kindly boxed the leftovers up for us. Service was amazing.

Great restaurant with amazing reputation and fantastic customer service Emailed them about gluten and sesame allergy and they replied almost immediately- I can’t eat there but always appreciate when a restaurant takes the time to explain to customers that require such information

Not enough servers. They move so fast that you feel rushed asking questions. There prep area is in middle of restaurant and they are so loud. Fried rice was over cooked Chicken fried noodles was ok Chicken dumplings and sweet & sour chicken were the beat

food was not so special. service was so so. The price is too high for the quality of the food.

Delicious fresh pasta, we chose to have the set menu selection that was £35pp. Consisted of three starter dishes, three main dishes and tiramisu desert. We enjoyed all the dishes and felt it was good value and nice to have some variation. Would be 5* but the service was a little slow and the atmosphere in the downstairs dining area didn't feel the same as the main area with the open kitchen. There is also some seating outside.
