Good Friend Chinese Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Restaurant 🍽 could do with some renovation 🛠 , that said food is acceptable. Egg fried rice 🍚 was very greasy, chicken 🐔 balls were saturated in oil and strange tasting sweet and sour sause. Shredded beef was crispy, all in all about 6 of of 10. Staff 👩‍💼🧑‍💼 were pleasant enough.

Me and my partner absolutely loved it. The food was super delicious, the staff very friendly and polite. The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect. The chicken in the mixed hors d’oeuvres was nice and juicy even it was batter and deep fried, same with the quarter duck very flavourful and juicy. Highly recommended if you’re near , even if you’re not worth the drive.

We picked up our takeaway this evening. Our food was really bland, dry rice and clumped together noodles, soggy sweet and sour chicken and no chilli in the chilli beef. Ribs looked like they had already had the meat chewed off, chicken balls were actually decent. Disappointed as it was not cheap.

I was recommended this place by a friend. The seafood is really good. In my view it is worth a try. The restaurant is a bit dated, but this is compensated by the good service and the food.

Top draw.. 1st time we've eaten in. Had the take out for years now. Always a good sign when local Chinese families are eating in. Get there early or reserve in advance.

I visited Good Friend Chinese for the first time & had a good experience of local Chinese food. The staff are very welcoming & are happy to provide information on the menu depending on your dietary requirements. They have a wide range of dishes to choose from & the quality is very good. I recommend the the sweet & sour chicken & the beef in black bean sauce. The special fried rice could improve with more seasoning e.g spice, however I look forward to visiting more often & trying various meals.

This Chinese restaurant in East London is absolutely amazing! They have such a diverse menu with a wide range of options to choose from. And the seafood dishes are simply fantastic! The portions are huge, and you definitely get your money's worth. The staff is super friendly and always ready to assist you. Highly recommended!

Nearly £40spent and Worst Chinese I've ever had rice was hard as rock ,ribs deep fried impossible to chew anyone with dentures good luck best thing about takeaway was the free chopsticks

Used to be good but now has fallen down a few points ordered take out was disappointed wasn’t fresh rice was cold and very thick won’t be ordering again

Excellent food In fact, I couldn’t believe that having lived here for over 20 years I’ve never been in there. The food was outstanding. In fact I go so far to say the best Chinese food I’ve had in a very long time and the service was great. Highly recommended

Must be the worst Chinese I have ever eaten.. gutted as I really fancied it.. asked for no Prawns.. must of forgot and added them.. Special fried rice looked grey and mushy.. Zero taste. Special Chow mean.. no shrimp.. Gentleman said we have king Prawns asked for none.. yep they was there.. Not enough sweet sour sauce in the chicken with sweet and sour sauce.. I'm more gutted then anything else as this was a family treat... No taste. Wrong order Cold food. And crazy as it was.. there was an hour on the order.. Afraid. Will definitely not be ordering again.. Hey that's life .

Rude, had multiple issues over the years never say anything but the other week made a small complaint but still paid for food they then refused to serve us. Very poor customer service you should be able to raise concerns. I was still willing to order from there

We love this place. We could not find a nice Chinese near us in Chingford and tried here. The staff are really friendly, service excellent and food is amazing. We have also had the food delivered tasted just as good as when we ate in. Highly recommended. Will be our regular Chinese I don't even mind paying the extra charge for delivery as we are outside of their normal delivery radius.

We don't have an abundance of good Chinese food in Walthamstow so I was so pleased to find Good Friend (although I wish they delivered our way). We booked a table for my son's birthday and it was great - food fabulous, service super friendly and patient with the kids & a really great evening.

Great food and atmosphere . Recommend the steak with black bean sauce.

Best Chinese restaurant for miles

We’ve come back here a few times over the years. It’s a no thrills kind of place but the food is always excellent. Order in advance the seafood and you won’t be disappointed. For big family occasions and celebrations this is our go to place. Highly recommend

The best Chinese!!!! Nowhere else compares… We got sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong style, satay chicken, quarter duck & pancakes & shredded chilli beef

This lovely restaurant has been in the area for as long as I can remember, but this was the first time we've eaten here! The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and very nice decor inside. The staff are all incredibly friendly and attentive. We were seated very quickly and once we had ordered, all the food arrived very quickly. The portions are larger than we had anticipated but definitely not a bad thing! The food was all so good and we (almost) finished every dish. I also love that they give you chopsticks with some chopstick holders placed on the table which is a lovely touch. The price for our meal was very reasonable, considering the amount we ordered, and they offered to put everything we didn't finish into takeaway containers, which we did. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant with great service and great food. We'll definitely be back!

We finished our meal with my husband the waitress was the owner. She came to us and asked if you want something else, so we said no. She brought the bill even though we didn't want it. This meant get up and leave. It was a very disrespectful behavior. You are the boss. You are not kind and rude. Close the shop and go home!!you have to be respectful to learn to do this job!!!!

Add a very good traditional Chinese meal here today. They do really good seafood. You need to pre order some of the sea food to get it fresh!

Amazing food, great atmosphere and very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. The seafood here is fabulous, and they always have a specials menu which is very traditional and always top class. The waitresses will always guide you through the specials/traditional menu which I would highly recommend, go off piste when ordering, try something new you won’t be disappointed here.

Tasty meals and good customer service

Friendly restaurant owner. Always has customers when I have visited. Service is of good standard, so is the food. Food is well presented, colourful and tasty.

Ordered today for delivery. Food took twice as long to arrive as I was told and the crispy seaweed was poor. When I called for an update on the delivery, I was told the order was out for delivery but no explanation or apology as to why it was so late and no update on its location. No apology from the driver either when he arrived. Disappointed.

Its a simple diner that does very fresh and tasty food. We had lobster noodles, sweet and sour chicken, deep fried tofu, and stir-fried vegetables. The lobster is so delicious. Highly recommended for a local diner.

I dont normally review, but I feel this is a must, if you don't want to waste your time or money on under par food, I ordered from here on a recommendation, me and my partner ordered £50's worth of food to collect, I was beyond dissapointed. Every dish was over cooked and inedible, I will never stray from Chingford chinese again, don't bother i nearly lost a filling. TTFN

Wow. My Wife and I found this place online as we were going to a friends in the area in the afternoon. We arrived at 5.30 on a Saturday and the place already had some customers in. We ordered all by our usual favourites and to be honest the quality of the dishes was better than we have been used to! We also trusted the lobster but wanted it done “salt and pepper” style and that was not only fabulous food but really great value for money! The service was also very very good! We will definitely be coming back here! If your in the area and lucky enough to get a table, this is a must try Guys!!!! Enjoy!!!

Great service and delicious food, specialised in seafood. Have been there several times and never disappointed. Please try their lobster with ginger and spring onions, and their mussels in white sauce......yummie.

This place is a total gem. Liz and her team are so lovely and welcoming, and the food is the best of any Chinese food I've had in London. It's cosy and excellent value for money. A must visit, even if you're not local. Order the mussels!! And the crispy duck.

I wanted to have a good chinese takeaway and watch a movie and i definitely got it, highly recommended. Very good food and friendly staff on the phone. Crispy duck particularly good.

The staff and the owner are very acomadatin even though we asked for staff that wasn't in the menu. Is a great little place to enjoy fresh seafood. I would recommend it .

We had a farewell dinner with family on our last night in London. The service was prompt, and attentive. Our food was absolutely delicious. Every dish, spot on. Fresh, tasty and great portions. It will become a restaurant I will definitely come back to on my London visits, and they may have made themselves a couple of take away customers that live local. Thanks for a memorable feast with loved ones.

Authentic Chinese food. Delicious and aromatic

We ordered three dishes including Fried Beef Ho Fun, Sweet & Sour Fish and Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. Good portion size and reasonable price. Generally speaking the quality is above average but the seasoning of the Ho Fun can be improved.

I love this place but your prices have gone up by a third. I understand covid has hit businesses but a whole duck has gone up by £8 and some of your dishes by £3. The whole menu has increased!!

Friendly family run Chinese restaurant, which is well established. In addition to the normal array of Chinese dishes, they specialise here in the fish and lobster dishes which are cooked to perfection and are reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and eager to please. Had a great meal here, which included lobster with crispy noodles.

Tried this restaurant out of the blue. The food was tasty and ridiculous value. Menu B for 2 was enough for another takeaway meal each. Restaurant a little tired inside. Looked like it had enjoyed grander times. Value for money though it's hard to beat.

Never been here before. Crispy duck was great. Prawn dish was salty and chicken chow mein tasted ok but didn't look very appetising. I would go back for the duck but choose other dishes
