Disappointment Dining Experience. I dined at A. Wong London, hoping to give my mother, visiting from Malaysia, a special Michelin-starred experience. Unfortunately, the evening fell far short of our expectations. The restaurant’s ambiance was decent — not particularly luxurious but comfortable. We ordered the six-course tasting menu priced at £220 per person, with an additional £125 for wine pairing. Given the high price point, we expected exceptional service and a memorable dining experience. The evening started well. Our assigned server introduced himself as the main person taking care of us and was polite and attentive at first. The first two courses were served promptly, and we were excited to continue. However, after the second course, the service took a disappointing turn. We waited about 15 minutes for the third course, which was still tolerable, but the delays after that became unbearable. We ended up waiting 30-45 minutes between each subsequent course. At one point, we asked if our plates could be cleared and the next course served sooner, as we were eager to finish dining. However, the server explained that the kitchen was very busy and asked us to continue waiting. The entire meal, which was supposed to last around three hours, dragged on for four and a half hours. The long waiting times left us feeling frustrated and drained to the point where we just wanted to leave. No staff member checked in on us during the extended wait, and the dining area felt warm, adding to our discomfort. While the food itself was decent, it didn’t meet the high expectations we had for a Michelin-starred restaurant, especially considering the premium price. One small positive note: when my mother experienced a nosebleed, a staff member from the bar kindly came over to offer help, which we appreciated. Overall, while A. Wong has a strong reputation, our experience was far from ideal due to the long delays and lack of attentiveness. We hope the restaurant can improve its service management to ensure guests receive the full Michelin-starred experience they promise.

We had the most amazing meal at A Wong. The service was incredible and every dish on the 30 course menu felt like we were tasting something new and interesting. We tried inventive new dishes and gourmet re-interpretations of familiar Chinese food, and really felt like we had the chance to try food from across the massive history and geography of China. We all agreed that if you like taster menus then this place is the ultimate place to eat!

A. Wong? More like "A. Wrong": Unfortunately this once amazing upmarket Central London Chinese restaurant has now become a pretentious, snobbish, up itself, grossly overpriced and poncy venue where the staff outnumber the diners, the chefs believe that putting caviar and truffle onto crispy duck pancakes somehow improve it and make it "fine dining" (it definitely doesn't) and the prices are beyond ridiculous.(Plus their stupid Mandatory Minimum £100 per head spend for lunch and their £100 per guest cancellation charge). For a start all the Dim Sum items are priced as individual 1 piece dishes and whilst mostly very tasty and well presented are definitely not value for money not to mention the mandatory minimum spend of "£100 per person" for lunch (the bill for two of us with no wine or dessert came to a massive £263!). Whilst the quality of the food is high, unfortunately the over-intrusive service and extortionate prices mean that A Wong is no longer a Top Tier restaurant in my view. AVOID if you don't want to be ripped off - There are far better high quality Chinese restaurants like Good Earth and Royal China.

First visit to A Wong, which has two Michelin stars. Although the food is in the Chinese cuisine category, it is a fusion Chinese cuisine with a strong essence of Thai cuisine. The course content is similar to French cuisine at Grand Maison, where each dish is presented. It seems to be a popular restaurant as the seats are full. The seats we were shown to were located in a renovated and expanded area of the entrance on the first floor of the store, and it was clear that the quality of the restaurant and the ingredients were not going to cost more than 20,000 pounds per person.

A real experience in Chinese cuisine, for such a talented chef the place is too small and half the space is in a weird greenhouse on the street. Food is superb nd richly deserves its 2 Michelin stars...the wine service is a financial scam they pour glasses when you do not need or want under the guise of pairing and do not make clear what they offer you is on top of the price you had given consent you. Too many French sounding sommeliers think that Michelin Stars mean it's OK to stuff the customer with a bill or pour what is not needed. Be careful better to order what you want. Go if you love Chinese..its an experience..

Perfectly sized meal for a special night out! My father and I came on a Saturday evening and we were at the bar. The bar area does serve the whole menu along with the wine pairing. We went for the premium wine pairing. Overall, each course was well done and the pairing was perfect (Michael was very helpful as our sommelier!). The price is high, but I think it is worth the quality and service. My favorites had to be all the fish dishes - especially the scallop!

The absolute best meal I have ever had, both the food and service were impeccable! Took my mom as a birthday treat while we were in London. From the moment we walked in, we were diligently cared for by their amazing staff. The waiter that served us most often, Abraham, was outstanding at his job. He went above and beyond to take care of us, explained the dishes beautifully, and was patient and attentive our entire meal. As for the food, there was not a single dish that we disliked! We did the Collections of China tasting menu (vegetarian version, as I am pescatarian and the regular set course contains beef/pork), and every course was carefully curated and beautifully presented. We especially loved the Sweetcorn, all of the Dim Sum, 'memories of peking duck', aubergine fritters, and desserts! Fair warning, it is 29 courses. That being said, the meal is paced out well and we didn't feel grossly sick or overstuffed by the end. Undoubtedly among the best restaurants in London, would highly recommend if your looking for an outstanding and unique experience!

This modern Chinese restaurant now holds 2 Michelin stars. I've been a couple of times when it was a 1 Michelin star restaurant and came in mid-November when it's now been upgraded. We had the a la carte dim sum lunch. Unlike traditional yum cha, you order the dim sum individually. So, when you ask for one of something it means you just want one piece. You won't get one basket with 3 or 4 pieces of har gau for example. They do explain this at the start, but it's since it's not the normal way some people don't quite take note of that. The menu is Cantonese food, but with a new interpretation. One of all of our favourites was the xiao long bao (Shanghai steamed dumpling, ginger infused vinegar). We also all tried the scallop and iberico pork cheung fun, which was a new take on a typical dum sum dish. It's more a millefeuille and the crispy pastry layers gave a contrasting texture to the soft cheung fun. The 'memories of Peking duck' was like a mini duck wrap that had a noticeable smoked duck flavour and aroma. We also tried the crispy wonton with garlic, Wagyu rice, pork criustade, black pepper beef, bamboo noodles, siu mai, BBQ pork prawn plum truffle, scallop puff, wild mushroom bun, soy chicken, Chengdu street tofu, crispy Peking duck. The custard buns are still outstanding and oozy (so be careful when you bite in)! We sat in the new conservatory area, which used to just be outside seating before they renovated. Service was on point. They handled a situation with a neighbouring table where they misunderstood how the menu worked and hadn't paid attention to the fact there is a minimum spend, which is clearly stated in the confirmation email and on the website. Our total was £434.70 including service. As well as the food we got cocktails - Henan and Xinjiang - and a sparkling jasmine. Follow here and the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

We visited to celebrate our double anniversaries, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. The cuisine was exquisitely fine and impressively creative, perfectly complemented by the wine pairing. Each dish was a delightful explosion of flavors, making it a memorable journey of discovering new tastes. The service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and seamless throughout our dining experience. A special mention for the team’s thoughtfulness in accommodating my husband’s fish allergy; their care and flexibility added a truly personal touch. I wholeheartedly recommend dining here. We can’t wait to return, this time to try the lunch menu!

Excellent food. Inconsistent service. It's very awkward to share the food the way it's served especially if one of you has a cold. I wish they would serve food in separate dishes. There were a lot of broth filled dishes and no way to share without double dipping. It's a lot of food! The main course was a bit disappointing with too much deep fried stuff. The desert was amazing!

We made a 12pm reservation for dim sum, arrived 15 mins early and didn’t expect to have to wait outside of the restaurant until it opens the door at exactly 12pm. Recommend the restaurant to have a wait area or give options to customers to book 15 mins after it opens. The dim sum was serve with decorative bowl/plates, however the food flavor was not outstanding. The roast port was too sweet. Although the puff was fried to crispy with single skin, but didn’t have the multi layer of crispy skins that a puff dim sum should have. The scallop is sliced so thin that it lost the scallop texture. The shrimp in the shrimp dumpling didn’t have the fresh shrimp flavor. Aside from the food, the service was very disturbance, having 4 to 5 different person constantly coming to the table asking repetitive questions like “are you enjoying?” Multiple people coming to the table so often has made the eating very rush and distracting. The worst was when one waiter came to the table to serve a dim sum presented in a bamboo decorated like a bird nest, he literally stand over the table and looking at us. He refused to leave us alone even after I ask if he has to watch us to eat. Then I had to ask straight out if he has to stand over me to watch, then he left for seconds and returned immediately to pick up the decorative nest like bowl, guess he wanted the decorative bowl back asap for the next customer. The overall experience was totally unacceptable. I always enjoyed a Michelin recommended restaurants and never expected everything to be perfect. This is the first time going to Michelin recommended restaurant ended with disappointment on both, food and service.

I remember looking at the reviews after I booked a reservation and thinking "Huh that's strange. 4.2 stars for a Michelin starred restaurant. Seems a bit low." Anyways it all made sense after eating there. Prices are disproportionate to the level of service and quality of food. London is a competitive spot for restaurants. How on earth its received 2 Michelin stars is beyond me.

Probably not a lot to add to the other 5 star reviews. Everything is perfectly executed - the way you're welcomed, the service and obviously the food. I've given 4 stars for the atmosphere as felt that the venue itself could do with a bit more space and feel a little bit more upmarket but that's just a very small niggle. This is dim sum at its best.

Having eaten quite a number of Michelin stars restaurant, I’m truly disappointed with this one. At the start of meal, we were introduced to select our welcome drink which were all branded champagnes. I feel it was quite pushy because this is probably the only Michelin restaurant that does this. You can see a few of the other reviews here choose them and realised the heavy price tag afterwards. For the food part, it’s not well balanced and underwhelming. This is not authentic Asian food or a representative of China history as the theme suggested. Peking duck is mixed with caviar and truffle, which I have no issue with that if it’s made well but it tastes so bad. Seasoning is really bad and heavy. As the dishes goes on and on, the taste get really worst. There is one part that they suddenly served a curry small dish and we feel that it was strange because it really disturbed our palate in the middle of the dishes. Nonetheless the price was expensive which I expected it, but having eaten them now I feel it doesn’t justify the price tag at all. If you want something pretentious and with fancy plating, you may like it. But if you want authentic Asian food and worth your money Michelin, then you may just skip this one. Im really wondering where did the two stars come from? If the evaluator think this is two stars then I’m sure there are many other restaurants that truly deserve the stars.

This is a great restaurant but very expensive. It was $342 pounds for lunch ala carte without much wine. The degustation is a lot more. That said my wife and I gave it a 5 star rating because the food was 4+ but the service was 6!! Favorites were Velvet Egg Crab with Stir Fried Vegetable, Moo shu, Black Pepper Beef, Wontons with garlic, Crispy Wonton, and the Custard Bun. However there were a few that were average like the BBQ Port Plum Truffle and the Siu Mei. They were ok for sure but for two Michelin stars and the price, we expect to be wowed pretty much all the way through. The Mah Jong tiled dessert at the end (and the chocolates all made in house) given because it was our anniversary were a very nice touch. It's a cool place. But the real treat is the extraordinary service. We eat out 100+ times a year from three star Michelin restaurants to sidewalk carts in Malaysia so we know the difference. Hats off to Somm Mickael, and wait staff Iris, Nathalie and Desmond. It is not often that the service was so professional, engaging and memorable that you take the staff names. It was at A Wong. Worth a trip if you have a few extra quid or an expense account!

Had a work dinner here in their private room. It was a 5 hour dinner (although 30 mins of mingling before and after). It was six courses, but each course had a variety of dishes so was 128 dishes to showcase the variety of cuisine in China. The food was delicious. Some of the dishes were excellent, some were just good. Nothing was bad. But each dish was a mouthful (or maybe two mouthfuls in a few instances). However, it took a long time to clear the plates to get the next course. I was hungry before dinner, hungry during dinner and hungry after dinner. I had to go home and order a pizza.

I booked the tasting menu online. The restaurant asked for my dietary restrictions 2 weeks before the reservation date. They replied my uncooked pear and cherries allergies could not be accommodated. Instead, they simply suggested I “skip” 3 dishes, without offering any sort of alternative or compensation (even after I asked!). We cancelled our reservation out of fear this could be a reflection of their overall food and poor quality service. I have never experienced anything like this in any “gastro” restaurant before (and they have 2 Michelin stars!).

Second time coming to this restaurant. Overall a good experience and recommend trying once for a special occasion due to the price. If you want good value, it would be better to choose another place. Sometimes dimsum can be a bit greasy and heavy on MSG etc. but here it is not like that due to it being a fine dining experience. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his birthday meal 🎈🎉 thank you to the very attentive staff. Service - good, they even open the toilet entrance door for you! Gave my partner a birthday card and complementary chocolate mahjong dessert (filled with raspberry sorbet or ice cream I think?!). Those mahjong tiles were unexpectedly very delicious!!! 😋 😋 Many staff wished my partner a happy birthday too 🎈 that's why I think it's nice for special occasions. Would order again: Chengdu tofu, xialongbao, chive dumpling, custard bun. Favourite was the Chengdu tofu (mini plant pot). It was the most fun to eat and tasted the best although I'm guessing not the most complex to prepare unless they make tofu from scratch. Xialongbao -enjoyed the gingery soup inside. Dumpling skin was thin but held the soup in very well without breaking easily. Scallop puff - recommended by the waiter and was tasty, puff pastry was good/light and not too oily. I could taste the scallop pieces inside. Ones I would not order again - the scallop Cheung fun one (although tasted nice, it deviated too far from "Cheung fun" for me), pepper beef puff (a bit sweet/heavy for me personally), coconut ice dessert (unusual combination of flavours for me but was fun to try once). One thing to note is they serve Chinese tea in short wine goblets/glasses. I prefer drinking from Chinese tea cups 🤣. This really confused my partner and I given how important tea is in our culture. Minus 1 star for service. Atmosphere - I think we were sitting in the converted outdoor space at the front of the restaurant with random artwork hanging and large ARTIFICIAL hedges by the main entrance. The inside bit seemed much nicer and gave off more "fine dining". Minus 2 stars for atmosphere. Price - ignoring price, the food is very good, I would give food 4/5. But given the restaurant actually has 2 Michelin stars and is expensive, probably makes the restaurant only worth going to for a special occasion. It wouldn't satisfy a traditional dimsum craving. Therefore I would make the rating for food 3/5 with price considered.

The restaurant is located in a bungalow on the street, and its appearance is unremarkable. The restaurant must require a minimum purchase of 100 pounds. If you order less than 100 pounds, you will be charged 100 pounds. I ordered a lot of dishes, all of which were in small portions. I thought the crab noodles would be a bit larger, but they were still too small. The only dish that was a big portion was the wagyu fried rice. The black pepper sauce of the wagyu tart is very spicy. There is no Wi-Fi in the store and you have to connect to the one next door.

This was the best food I have eaten, anywhere in the world. It was absolutely outrageous! My sister in law recommended this place to be, despite not having been there but regularly hearing great things. When we initially approached the restaurant, with the road closed and fenced off outside, an Argos opposite, I wondered what I had gotten myself into. Once we went through those doors we were transported into another world... Well not quite yet, we were initially seated in the extension, which seemed to block us off from the rest of the restaurant and felt more like a conservatory. However, we asked to be moved and as soon as a table was free inside they moved us. At that point everything fell into place and the experience was utter perfection. The service was so attentive it felt almost personal. The sommelier was very well versed and gave us generous servings with every section of the menu. We were also lucky enough to have Chef Andrew cook for us. The food was 28 plates, split into small groups/courses, a different wine with each course. They provide you with a postcard that they will post anywhere in the world for you and a copy of your menu as a souvenir. The story that accompanies the menu and the history of the restaurant is all very endearing. It is VERY expensive (4 digit bill), but the experience was worth every penny and I'm glad we did it.

A visit to A.Wong has been a long time coming but now after our amazing lunch on Saturday we just can’t wait to return and enjoy the full dinner experience. The restaurant is situated on Wilton Road and only a short walk from Victoria Station. When we arrived the place was already full and had a lively and friendly atmosphere. We received a fabulous welcome before being taken downstairs to the Forbidden City Bar for an aperitif. Here we enjoyed the A.Wong Negroni and the special Gin and Tonic. You also got to see the chef’s making the Dim Sum. Now it was time to head upstairs to our seats at the counter in front of the bar ready to begin the afternoon’s festivities. We opted for the Touch of the Heart Tasting menu that included a wine pairing. This would be fifteen courses and five glasses of wine priced at £195. Personally I thought it was definitely worth it. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and professional throughout our lunch as they explained every single dish and recommendations on how it would be best enjoyed. The sommelier was also excellent and the wine pairings were amazing. The menu includes some absolutely stunning Dim Sum to begin before moving on to dishes including Memories of Peking Duck , the Cantonese Chicken , Wonton with Garlic , Shanxi ‘lamb burger’ , dessert and petit fours. Every single dish was beautifully presented and the flavour combinations were simply incredible. These are matched perfectly with the wine chosen by head sommelier Mickael who it was a pleasure to meet. This really was a team at the top of their game and now I just cannot wait to come back for the full evening experience. If you haven’t been to A.Wong yet then I would highly recommend you do so. Nothing of the classic high-level Chinese restaurants: here China is culture, origins, traditions but the dishes come from the hands of a chef who has plenty of technique and originality to spare: thus the result is a menu that amazes for a dinner that you don't expect, full of incredible small dishes, of absolute goodness, all combined together in a skilful way. Six courses each made up of various small dishes, sometimes a single bite but always a discovery of something you have never eaten before and that you would like to eat again soon. The wine pairing is original and also challenging, a bit from all over the world, including a surprising Armenian wine. Top service, attentive and with attention to detail with explanations of everything that is brought and some pleasant and welcome jokes. Very high bill, but we are in London and in a top restaurant. Nothing to say; simply memorable dinner.

This was our first time dining at a Michelin starred restaurant, so we have a lot of interesting things to take away. However since this experience I have visited 3 other restaurants in the 2-3 star range so I feel it necessary to update my review. Dining here was impractical, everything was served in bowl’s that made it difficult to even eat the dishes given to us. Overall nothing was impressive in flavour despite the ingredients used being high end, it felt like a gimmick meal, and the non alcoholic pairing was 4/6 parts vinegar based drinks which didn’t capture the imitation taste of wine but were rather unpleasant to drink.

Note: I grew up in NYC’s Chinatown and ate dim sum almost weekly growing up. Food: incredibly expensive for aggressively mediocre food. Whatever marketing tools they’re using to try and pull one over on us will get us in the door but certainly no further. Lettuce wagyu fried rice - dry, flavorless. I can get better XLB frozen at Trader Joe’s…, the “rabbit” carrot ball was literally EMPTY when opened. I’d only recommend one thing and that’s the custard ball but good luck eating 200£ worth of it (bc that’s the minimum spend to dine here). Service: our initial waiter was friendly enough, but the person who took our order was pushy, intrusive (constantly reaching over our food, brushing his arm repeatedly against us), and just wouldn’t take no for an answer. As the kids say, the vibes were off. Overall, what an awful experience. I won’t be recommending this to anyone.

We have been to this restaurant two times, simply because it is the best food we have ever tried! No joke! This restaurant deserve all the stars and let me tell you why: Our expectation weren’t let’s say the highest since Chinese food is already so good and comforting that an upscale-tasting menu Chinese restaurant seemed like it’s going to be unreasonable. But this was by far the best experience in terms of food service and the whole ambiance of the place. The food: we took the tasting menu and it goes in a way that you try local food from different regions of China. And that was already so cool. It had plenty of taste from different veggies and fruits and ofc a lot of seafood and meat. The service: Twice we were attended by Ben, he is just lovely and very attentive. And all the staff was very nice and very hospitable. You could really feel the Asian hospitality not the snobby Micheline experience. The ambiance: Very nice and cozy you can see the chef himself and the kitchen from every seat. I would really recommend this place and also they have lunch hours for A la carte that we still owe to come and try. Thank you very much A Wong ♥️

Having eaten at ~10 Michelin Star restaurants, this might be the one that convinces me that Michelin Stars are a scam. Giving food of this quality TWO stars is just inexcusable. The Xiao Long Bao tastes worse than basically any cheap XLB you can get in Chinatown. They don't even present it in a way that makes it nice to eat; just a standard one of those miso soup style spoons you get at any XLB place. Missed opportunity to serve it in some giant spoon that would collect all the broth. The fried rice was mushy. Explain how a 2 Michelin Star Chinese restaurant has bad fried rice. The rabbit carrot ball literally had two crumbs of rabbit mincemeat in it. It was basically hollow on the inside. The whole time, you feel like you're being upsold. The waiters are pushy. The first thing they do is bring out a big champagne tray with 4 champagnes that cost well over £30 per glass and ask if you want some. Of course, the prices are not listed on the tray. I've been to some disappointing fine dining restaurants and found at least one or two positive things to say. I did not enjoy a single aspect of A Wong. The worst money I've ever spent on a meal.

We went for the tasting menu last night and were blown away by the brilliant experience. The food was absolutely incredible - a banquet of tiny, perfect dishes representing the 8 culinary styles of Chinese cooking. Every dish was distinct and worked with the others. The level of detail and technical skill that has gone into the experience is absolutely outstanding. And sending a postcard at the end of the meal was a cute finishing touch. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be returning to try one of the restsurant’s other menus. If you’re looking for a celebratory meal and you like Chinese food, this place is perfect. Just a brilliant meal. We did the Dim Sum a la carte, and the staff guided us through our choices with wisdom. (One criticism- a confusing menu layout. It's worth checking the menu online before going.) The food was stunning; definitely 2 Michelin star level. Plate after plate of superb dishes, all cleverly designed. The new lemon dessert was a triumph. There was always plenty of staff on hand, and there was never a wait for food, even at the beginning. The tea was delicious. These dishes are cooked to perfection. My greatest thanks to the talented and hardworking staff- you are part of something special!

A rather disappointing, it used to be one of my favourites chinese restaurants, creative food … but no anymore , trying too hard to make too many different dishes, but too random, all sorts super rich flavours don’t really go together… as it was tasting menu only for the dinner, we didn’t have choice . £200 per person plus wine etc , we ended up £400 per head. Any restaurant in China is better than this Michelin star restaurant The atmosphere and setting is boring, we may just go to Park Chinois , Hakkasan, Roka, The Maine etc so many excellent restaurants, offer much better food at much nicer setting with many very interesting entertainment too … they all cost less per head

First time being in a 2star Michelin restaurant and it blew me away! My favourite dim sum are iberico pork croustade with raspberry powder and the mushroom truffle buns. They are so creatively made and well balanced in terms of flavour - which was a very pleasant surprise! We then had the custard bun to finish it off. And that was one of the best custard buns I have ever had! The bun is not too thick and egg yolk is runny with the perfect consistency and they even fried the bottom so it’s insanely delicious! Their service was super attentive and they even brought out a small bench for me to put my handbag under the table. Great experience overall and it was a perfect afternoon dim sum lunch.

The food was absolutely outstanding and deserves clearly the highest rating. I go regularly to China to high end restaurants and A.Wong is in this category. Usually I am very frustrated to not find the same quality outside China, but at A.Wing you get it! Where I have however somewhat mixed feelings is in the decoration and ambiance of the restaurant, which I think doesn’t correspond to a michelin standard. For the price we paid (1400 pounds for 4 persons), I would expect much more. At the beginning we were seated in the front part of the restaurant, where it was freezing cold and guests kept on going through the entrance door with the wind blowing inside the restaurant. Later we changed table, but then had cold air coming from a door behind us. So all in all very happy to have had excellent food, but the restaurant itself needs improvement to be in line with the price.

We absolutely love this restaurant: we've been coming here for over 10 years, way before Andrew had 1 Michelin Star - the restaurant now has 2 Michelin Stars. I think Andrew's restaurant is the only 2 Michelin Star restaurant outside of China - what an accolade and recognition of the food that he creates, and the way he makes us customers feel. We came here to celebrate my birthday - such a treat. We chose the excellent Touch Of The Heart Dim Sum tasting menu, with wine pairing. Everything was so superb: the service, the wines and of course, the food. Beautifully created dim sum, wonderfully presented, with a whole range of flavours and textures. We left feeling completely satisfied and can't wait for our next visit. Thank you Andrew, Nathalie and the whole A Wong team. Also posted to my food blog on Instagram @AbbeyKing16

Total waste of money. Far better Cantonese food can be had elsewhere – fine dining or not. Trust the other 1-star reviews, because they’re all accurate! I arrived 10mins early for a noon seating and was asked to wait outside the restaurant until noon, which was surprising. Thank goodness it wasn’t raining! The staff were all very nice, but most clearly had no experience with service at fine dining level, though a few clearly did. Champagne is pushed on you almost immediately (as if it’s a welcome drink - it’s not!), and before a drinks menu arrives, which feels slightly tacky particularly when no other beverages are offered that might be more suitable for lunchtime or people who don’t like champagne or alcohol. Most distressingly, the sommelier had a persistent cough and was coughing into his hand regularly through the whole service, and then proceeding as if nothing happened, touching everything everywhere before washing his hands. It’s well known in foodservice you cough into your elbow so you don’t go around contaminating everything - even trainees in fast food know this! One or two others seemed to have a cough as well, and I spent my entire seating wondering whether I was going to catch something. If they hadn’t had my credit card details to hold the booking with a minimum spend, I would’ve walked out. I mentioned my concerns and asked if he was unwell, but in hindsight, I wish I had asked to break the booking with no penalty since it’s a clear health and safety violation and the guy kept doing it. The food is shockingly mediocre for what’s supposed to be a good Chinese restaurant. You can get much better elsewhere for the same spend or less. I know my restaurants, and I know my Michelin-starred restaurants well. Stars should be a good indicator but they don't necessarily mean good food or service. That said, it beggars belief the cooking here won any stars at all. It’s downright disappointing food for a restaurant with any Michelin stars, let alone two. Their focus seems to be more on elaborate plating than balance and seasoning, which makes no sense since it’s mostly a per-piece dim sum menu and the huge plates for each piece don’t even fit on a table. The cocktails were well done but 85% of the dishes coming from the kitchen were bland. The Peking duck was the same as a bad takeaway, which is strange because the dim sum item featuring the same type of duck came with the duck done the proper way. One dish another Google reviewer mentioned was indeed overpowering, unbalanced, and highly acidic, being delivered early in service despite it basically destroying the palate for the rest of your meal. If the Michelin inspectors come by again this year, I don’t see Chef holding his stars much longer. You can see from the reviews that many of us genuinely don’t know how he got them in the first place. The à la carte pricing is actually reasonable, but I agree with those who say it would be difficult to hit the minimum spend of £100 per head without ordering alcohol or the most expensive items on the menu. My problem is with the quality of the food, not the pricing. Had I opted for the tasting menu (or worse, the pairing!) I'd be fuming right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if the minimum spend was introduced because once people had their first few dishes they decided it was not worth sinking more money into! If you’re looking good Cantonese food with an upscale environment, there are so many other places in central London where you can spend the same money but get much better food and a much better ambience. If you don't care about throwing away £100-200 out of curiosity, make a booking. If you do care, then best find another restaurant, because it's pretty much guaranteed you'll get nicer food elsewhere.

Went for Lunch A-la carte Menu. We were sat watching the kitchen . The service was immaculate and really friendly. We appreciated all the dishes being explained. The food was 10/10. Every dish was just unbelievable. I have found with most restaurants in London consistency with the dishes lacks but not here. Yes it is expensive but everything is hand made and they use very expensive ingredients. (The only complaint i would have is placing the tray of very expensive champagne placed right in front of us without asking if we were interested in a glass it felt we were being a little forced when it was lunch time and we are couple who don't tend to drink that much) Bar that one small complaint A.Wong is one of the best restaurants i have been to. My son and I came to belatedly celebrate his 30th birthday. We had the tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and entertaining and informative introductions to each course. He has eaten at a few Michelin star restaurants and ranks this in his top three. I’ve only been to Heston Blumental’s “Fat Duck.” Neither of us were happy sharing/eating from the same dish as some of the dishes were difficult to serve ourselves individually, and I found some of the whole mouth dishes difficult to put in my mouth in one go and would have preferred two smaller portions. I do think a 15% service charge is excessive considering the Michelin price, and a flat rate charge would be more reasonable. Overall, I’d recommend the restaurant and was very glad we experienced it.

The tasting menu was fun and good. But they sat us out in the extended front patio area separated from the main restaurant. The ambiance was lacking and noisy. The glass window separating us from the restaurant would shake when the various doors close. The inside actual restaurant looks better where there is a view of the kitchen. The experience may have been better inside but I wouldn’t know. Also I was charged around 500 pounds when the tasting menu was 200 per person. We had 4 bottles of water and jasmine tea for 100 pounds? I don’t know because the end of the dinner was somewhat abrupt. There was no explanation that the dinner was over or an itemized bill. Disappointed frankly.

The level of cooking, techniques and presentation is sky high. The endless parade of dishes is a experience that we haven't experienced anywhere else. Some sauces take 3 or 4 hours to cook and you will try like 28 dishes so you can imagine how much effort is put in this menu. The service was outstanding ( shout out Beeraj) and what we really liked is that the service is very informal. You will share dishes and eat with your hands sometime if you want. Today we went to A Wong for the first time. We were generally enjoying the meal until we were moved to the windowless basement bar to finish our tasting menu. This was in fact to free up our table for the next guests. We were led to believe that this was normal protocol and all guests were to attend the basement bar for the end of their meal despite the fact that we were the only people there and the restaurant upstairs was packed. This was very disrespectful to us and we will not be visiting the restaurant again. This ruined our experience and is unacceptable for a double Michelin starred restaurant.

it was recommended by a friend but totally disappointed. Probably if you do not know Dim Sum or never tried any 'Haute Cuisine (or in Hong Kong we call it 'Nouvelle Cuisine')' restaurant, you may be amazed. It was a totally let down that there are a few typos / grammar mistakes / awkward translation found in the menu. (Please do not mix Traditional Characters with the Simplified ones). There are so many weird things that I can point out (1. Choy Sum with century Egg?? seriously? 2. Dim Sum Duo under Dim Sum...what do you mean?) but after all it is just a restaurant run by a British Chef🤣. The amount of dishes is overwhelming as well (It is quite rare to have Dim sum for dinner and we do not usually order more than 10-15 for 2 people...remind you Dim sum is quite unhealthy!) To say that A. Wong is a massive disappointment is an understatement. You know the feeling when you are at some snazzy art exhibit that everyone is raving about, but you have no idea what you are seeing or why it’s such a big deal? That’s exactly how A. Wong feels like but with food. There’s absolutely nothing special about the taste of the food except that the pieces (the very small pieces) look good for Instagram. The dim sum comes by piece and they have the audacity to call a piece a dish! The waiters should all work in sales instead because they rave about the “dishes” while you’re ordering to make you believe it is that good (spoiler alert: it’s below average). I have had better dim sum in almost every other place that serves them in London. This place is pretentious and vapid. If you want to pretend to be cool cause you’re spending 100+ pounds per person for a handful of dim sum pieces, then this place is for you. Otherwise; avoid this rip off restaurant.

The food was presented really well, in a traditional Chinese sharing dining manner. The food was flavourful, diverse and well cooked. Couldn’t complain about lack of truffles, caviar and wagyu beef. The interior, despite it being a 2 Michelin starred establishment, stays true to its Chinese diner roots. One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to. I have tried Chinese food all over the world: Africa, Middle East, Europe, and London. Great service, great food and great family atmosphere. People start comparing and saying I have better/worse etc. well of course it's their right to do so. I have been here more than once and the food is consistently very very good with good filling portions (Be careful not to over order) even cooking us something not on the menu . How many times have they cooked something and it turned out the exact same. This all depends on seasonal ingredients' availability etc. My only regret is that for a Halal Chinese restaurant, I did not discover this sooner. Thank you. I will keep visiting you again.

We had our work Christmas dinner at No6 Hamilton Place the week before last, and the experience was amazing from start to finish. There were 18 of us, and we had a beautifully set private room. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. One of our team members was running quite late, but after discussing with the catering team, they managed to space out the courses so that the main course arrived just as the final team member did, which kept everyone happy. We chose the European Set Menu 1 for our dinner, and they catered to all dietary requirements, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. They checked with those who had dietary needs before serving, ensuring everything went smoothly. The food went down a treat and I received only positive feedback from the team. I couldn't recommend the venue more highly. Thank you all!
