Visited this pub while on a solo break away with my dog a couple of weeks ago and it was a fantastic atmosphere, great service, lovely food and I have to give the highest praise to the lady (who I think was a manager or supervisor) (gutted I didn’t catch her name) but she was so friendly and welcoming, she made a fuss of my dog even giving her some doggie treats which went down (a treat) 😆would definitely recommend this place and will be sure to visit again next time I’m passing!!

We reserved a table to watch the rugby World Cup as we always do. The staff can’t do enough for you in this pub and the food and drinks are great!! Not expensive and brilliant atmosphere. So many tv screens so they can show rugby and football at the same time so everyone’s happy. Already booked a table for the next game 👍🏴

Doesn't look anything special from the outside. Inside, it's a typical sports pub with lots of TVs. Pleasantly surprised by how great the food was. Even the side salad ( a dry afterthought in many pubs) was delicious. Coffee was piping hot and good quality. Staff were super friendly from the second we arrived until we left. Dog friendly- even have jars of dog biscuits on the bar and chopped cold sausage in a dog bowl available upon request.

Luckily we found this pub in Bangor! Had lots of tvs for sport and the bar staff were happy to put the rugby on for my partner when he asked. The food was good, I had the spicy burger and would recommend. Prices were good value for money. The rest of the pubs in Bangor are dire so thank god for this one on our 2 night trip!

Very good in general. Staff are very friendly, food was of a very good standard and the VFM is fantastic!!! Definitely worth the money. Only thing that let it down was our table wasn’t cleaned properly and a sticky floor. Apart from that if in the area again, would certainly come again.

A group of us came to Bangor on a lads trip and we stumbled upon the Castle. The place is very friendly and has a pool table that kept the lads entertained. On Friday we had an unwelcome joiner to our group and after several attempts at asking him to leave us alone the doorman was good enough to have a word with him. The doorman I found to be very helpful and positive to everyone coming in. The doorman was very friendly and chatty with all our group and can't praise him highly enough 👍🏻

I come here a FAIR FEW times a week, and have BRILLIANT and FRIENDLY service all the time, and take advantage of certain offers such as Skint Wednesdays and Thursday Quiz night. However, when I visited on the Evening of Friday 2nd June, the doorman asked me for ID, I was ASTONISHED!!. Only it was late and I only had time for a quick shot, I'd have just turned round and gone to spend my money somewhere else.... Whilst at the bar, I had a chat with the General Manager Sarah (Who I've always found to be very pleasant) who explained to me it was his first night and was only doing his job. I understand a lot of people would say I should feel very grateful for it, but as a person who has a few wrinkles developing and hair starting to grey and getting lost on top of my head, a bit of common sense should have prevailed!!

I popped in for some dinner Sunday afternoon. There was a good choice on the menu (although perhaps there could have been a slightly better choice of starters - maybe the addition of prawn cocktail, pate, and garlic mushrooms?) I ordered the Hunter’s Chicken Pie, which I thought was an unusual twist on two pub classics - Hunter’s Chicken and the good old pie. It came with mash, veg and gravy. It was very tasty, and the portion was generous. I was very full after it. I would have liked more gravy though as it didn’t come with much. Nobody came round to check if everything was ok with my meal, so I was unable to ask for more gravy, and as I was dining on my own, I didn’t want to leave the table. Still, a good meal and good value for money. I’d come back again, especially on a Sunday when many places in Bangor are closed.

One particular security guard for this establishment is abusive and aggressive towards customers. On several occasions my colleges and I have visited this establishment, both during the day and during evenings. All the staff inside the pub are friendly and approachable, however on more than one occasion I have seen one security guard threaten customers during the evening, in one case saying he would “beat the sh*t* out of them if they came in the pub again and I have also heard reports that this same bouncer has physically pushed individuals. This is the only problem encountered at the pub, however, it seems to be a continuous occurrence, he should not be allowed to continue with such disgraceful and unprofessional behaviour.

Came here for tea for a bite to eat - not that busy on a Tuesday evening - served a lovely pint of Goose IPA and the place was clean and tidy and the bar and seating areas looked modern - it did look a bit like a newish weatherspoons so not a traditional type pub. The burger deal includes a drink (pint or soft drink) which makes it really reasonable price wise and the food tasted good - it’s not fancy but it does what it should - nice selection of food on the menu. They did get the burger order wrong for one of us but they did sort it quite quickly and were apologetic. A solid 4/5 for us and would return.

Curiously after living in Bangor for years, only recently started using the Castle as a "regular" and am amazed at its welcoming, warmth of staff, efficient and friendly service, highly competitive prices (drink and food) and particularly - for a city centre pub - its cleanliness. And, again, for a city centre, university town pub, notable is the stafff intolerance to any trouble: the sort of place which welcomes families. If it wasn't for need to pay attention to my girth I'd eat more there too. Their daily "specials" are spot on. Food looks and tastes delicious ... and probably cheaper than cooking at home!!!

I informed the girl at the bar of my dissatisfaction and the level of apathy was astounding. No apology, just a shrug of the shoulders and she walked off. Last day of a short holiday in Anglesey and I had time to kill in Bangor before catching my train .... I wanted to have a quick look at the Cathedral and found this place .... Only went in for a few quiet drinks and it was pretty busy for a Thursday lunchtime but pleasant and I found a quiet corner ..... I'm guessing it must be a popular place with the local students because there were a few large crowds of younger customers taking advantage of what seemed to be a reasonably priced menu .... Lots of food coming out of the kitchen so it seems the food reputation is good ... A few smaller tables of older folks eating in there too !! Drinks prices were really good and I didn't have to wait at the bar at all .... Overall , a really nice place ... I'd been travelling on buses throughout my little holiday and Bangor was the main exchange point for me so I'm gutted I didn't find the place earlier ..... But I'll find it again !! :)

There are indeed a lot of screens showing football, impossible to avoid them so I'd wouldn't come here during a match unless you want to watch it, but we came on a Sunday night when nothing was on other than match replays and the sound was turned very low. The menu here is really good with some unusual meals and good variety which suits everyone and I was more than happy with my meal, just one of the mother's said most of her food was a little cold. Our family of 6 stopped in here after getting of the ferry on Thurs. 16th Feb. We were all absolutely starving, however some of the meat for the mixed grill, burgers was not available for whatever reason. No worries we thought, the barman seemed to be on his own and busy and was apologetic. We waited a good half hour for food, my lasagne was first to arrive Im sorry I didnt take a pic of it because it looked as if it was someone else leftovers that had been put back in the oven and burnt, the so called salad was dead beside it. Needless to say I sent it back ,the rest of the food arrived in the meantime was not great the chicken burgers were burnt and hard, beans were missing of one of the kids meals and had to ask for the bread that should have come with the fish and chips. After sending mine back I was told it would be another 20 mins for the microwave lasagne, it came out sooner as everyone else was finished and while obviously cheap microwave food, the dish was now full and the salad was fresh. I can never understand why a so called cook can ever send such rubbish out [I did use another word instead of rubbish but I was asked to remove it] and expect to take peoples money and think that will do them.

Went here for a cheap meal with my other half as we couldn't be bothered to cook. Should have stayed home! The food when it arrived looked appetising however I was weary of how quick the food came out of the kitchen - a pie should take more than 5 minutes to cook... The mash served with my food was thick and dry, clearly packet mix. Same could be said for the gravy which was incredibly lumpy and clearly made from powder. The pie filling was good tasting but the pastry was dry and impossible to cut. My partners chicken wings were black and hugely overcooked - clearly been reheated in the microwave for too long. I know cheap food comes at a price but this wasn't even worth the little money we paid! The chef isn't even a chef - reheating food and making meals from packets doesn't take any skill at all.

Tem que dividir com mais pessoas, principalmente se já comeu um outro prato. Com certeza voltarei nesse Pub. Recomendo.

After the disaster of trying Dylan's and walking away. We reverted to our old favourite, The Castle. Always welcoming and food quality (and volume) that you can always rely on.Laura was excellent as usual and found us a table with no problem. The main menu is excellent and the Specials Board is always a treat. Overall, good service, great food and excellent value for money.

They had great offers on the meals, the food was nice. Friendly, helpful staff and would recommend to anyone after a bite to eat that won't break the bank.

On entering This place it comes across as a normal chain pub, it has a good selection on the menu and reasonable prices it also has various special nights we got a burger and a pint for £5.49 and it wasn't a small burger. Worth a visit, staff polite and friendly and accommodating. Keep up the good work guys

Called in for a change because of personal recommendation. Good selection of Tapas at a very reasonable price. Portions a good size especially when bits are in even numbers. Two of us have often been served 3 or 5 bits elsewhere. Also well cooked. Will go again. Very open area, very popular with youngsters so can be noisy.

visited with family recently, two of them had the fish & chip platter, which was on offer for £4.99 and I ordered the sweet chilli noodles with chicken in an effort to be healthy. The platters went down well and for the price, you couldnt ask for better, excellent value. Unfortunately, the noodles werent so good. In fairness the menu described them as 'wheat noodles', but I was still a bit surprised to see that what I was served was a bowl of spaghetti which looked like it had come out of a Heinz can, and then covered in a sickly sweet chilli sauce, with a dried chicken breast placed on top and lots of baby corn thrown in for good measure. I was hungry so I ate the chicken, and I did try a couple of forkfuls of the noodles but it was probably the worst thing I have ever tasted! I suppose I could have spoken to the staff, but the menu did say 'wheat noodles' which is spaghetti ... Will return in the future, staff were friendly, nice relaxed atmosphere and plenty of choice on the menu.

My 2nd review here. We went on bank holiday Monday and we ordered our food. We went large with the meals only to be told there was no sausages for the mixed grill and the fish and chips extra. We had extra onion rings instead. I had the fish and chips and my hubby had mixed grill. The mixed grill was swimming in grease and he didn't enjoy it one bit and my fish was mostly batter. My daughters had the curry and southern fried chicken. Neither of them like it much. We had dessert which was nice and for 2 for £5 was worth it. The staff was nice and very helpful but the food was awful

Called in at lunchtime while shopping for just a quick bite to eat. Served quickly and efficiently only to be told a few minutes later that there was no coleslaw for the jacket potato. Not a huge problem. When our scampi arrived there was no tartare sauce as they had run out and the meal was only warm. The price and size was good but don't know if I would return. A lot of good value places in Bangor now!

Chain pub....no frills. You get what you pay for. 2 drinks and a lasagne with garlic bread and side salad plus bacon and cheese burger with chips less than £13 filled a hole nothing to complain about.

I don't know who's the fool. Me for going back time after time or the management.I've been here roughly five times for food, each time it's been a disaster, the items on menu are never in stock and usually over cooked. Won't eat there again. Will go for a pint as nice place, bad management brings it down.

two full English breccies and large cappuccinos for £7.50!!!Nothing to complain about, food arrived quickly on heated plates [quite rare nowdays] and served by a very friendly and polite staff and a brucie bonus there was a run down of Ian Wrights 100 odd career goals on the tv, now that is what I call a real deal.

What a great spot! We had a great visit to this secluded pub on the beach. There are two places you can park, at the Golf Club car park with a cost of around five pounds through an app, from here you walk over the golf course on the path/road to the pub. Or, you can park further down on the National Trust car park and walk along the beach to the pub. We parked at the golf club, walked over the golf course and then walked back along the beach and back up to the golf car park. The beach walk is great. There was a DJ on when we went and that gave it a good atmosphere outside we did not sit inside as the weather was OK. Food was available although we did not order anything. Friendly staff who served at the outside bar. Be careful of the closing times as that can be early if there is not an event on.

Meifod Country House is perfectly positioned for Caernarfon, Anglesey, the mountains and the coast. It’s a lovely old building, extremely comfortable and the staff are delightful. The house is decorated to a high standard and the antique furniture is beautiful. Tripadvisor needs updating as there is no restaurant at Meifod House. The only food available is breakfast - standard help yourself continental and what looked like well cooked hot breakfast if requested (we didn’t have cooked breakfast). We only saw and met two staff during our stay, both of whom looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. Our bedroom (Brymer), overlooks the field to the side of the property. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. The bathroom is huge, with a double ended bath and shower attachment attached to the taps (no actual shower). Good big towels, high quality bed linen, and a fridge in the room. When we return to the area we will stay here again. I recommend it highly.

Stopped for breakfast in the cafe, it was lovely. The small breakfast is big enough for most! Cafe clean, staff friendly and importantly the toilets were very clean. Highly recommended 👍

First and last time that I use this place. Over inflated price for two bottles of pop. Can only assume that the extra £1.60 charged , was for the sponsored silence that every customer before and after us was greeted with by the member of staff serving.
