Just popped in to see family and had my granddaughter with me. Popped into toilet with her and got 2 cokes and sat outside At around 715ish she needed to go to the toilet again so went inside and got told she can't go in to use the toilet I said she's a 4 year old child they said doesn't matter So there take our money for drinks but can't go in Staff were extremely rude and toilets were disgusting.

Where do I start with this hole of a supposed pub 1 barmaid in a white outfit brown hair appeared to be on drugs could not keep still constantly messing orders up didn't know who was next the upstairs was closed apart from the toilets although no cubicles open disabled toilet only which is only 1 this is illegal in the UK toilets stink you clearly have a problem with you waste and drainage everyone please avoid until these issues are fixed it's disgusting

I’m a regular customer to Yates Romford but since it was closed and reopened. I did message Yates Facebook page to see if was any events before returning to Yates for the first time but didn’t get a response, Yesterday was the first time I’ve been back with my friend , unfortunately I won’t be returning, the atmosphere there wasn’t any, the music was a nice mix but the dance floor was empty it was like a normal pub with music. the only good was when the fight happened outside the security and the R something team was fast to react to break them up and help the injured man, i expected more for a Saturday night,

Yates in Romford is now known as a Craft Union pub. But it doesn't look any different on the outside or on the inside. When I went past there yesterday it was absolutely dead inside. I'm pretty sure that's something that they were trying to rectify when they changed it's name. But they need to put more effort into it if they want to bring back customers. Personally, I don't have much of a problem with it. I pop in from time to time to have a quiet drink and it does that job okay. I'm not sure why it's popularity waned since the end of the pandemic. It used to be jam packed before covid came along. Strange.

Great venue now reopened. Dj sets unfortunately not hitting the target group 05/04/24. Empty dancefloor high percentage on a Friday night which in good days would be busy. More group dance not random needed to needed before emptying at 11:30pm that better meet expectations of those wanting to get on dancefloor. Maybe better next time?!?!?

I suspect this review will be irrelevant in the not too distant future since Yates in Romford is closing down this month (March, 2024) apparently. In any case, I've been going to this place for years. It's not as big as a lot of the other pubs in the town centre but it does have a big screen television that hosts SKY Sports events, so it's good for the footy. There is a good selection of drinks on offer and the quality of them are what you'd expect for a Stonegate pub. Staff are generally nice and personable, but it does depend on the person doing the job. I don't know why it's popularity waned since the pandemic occurred. That's a bit of a mystery to me and is likely the main reason as to why it's closure is imminent. I have been told that it is going to be turned into a Craft Union pub. But we will see.

Great staff the manager(kye) helped me and my friends out when we were having issues deciding what to eat.

Great environment, friendly staff but special shout out to Jack who always goes the extra mile for the customers. Big screen available for the sport. We have eaten here too and happy with the quality of the food. Would recommend when in Romford as a place to visit.

Great place for Sunday football, with the biggest screen to watch sport. The staff are very friendly, Jack, was exceptional and had good knowledge about the drinks and food menu. I would recommend this bar to anyone. Amazing atmosphere.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. My friend took me out for my birthday for a meal and to watch football. We had a drink and then ordered a meal. They advised that they did not have chips and that they were going to replace it with waffle chips. I said no to this and agreed to a potato instead. Ten minutes later, a guy came and told my friend that they have no bacon so he would have have a sausage. My friend did not want a a third sausage but that was an awkward conversation because the guys was quite insistent. They replaced his 2 bacons with one hashbrown instead. This is not what he wanted!! Then the food came. I noted that my food (the mixed grill) was missing a chicken breast. I complained to the staff (I had not been told beforehand). I was told that they had given me an extra sausage. I said I did not want another sausage. The manager went to the back and returned. She asked what did I want as a replacement? I asked what the options were and she said I cam have anything on the menu. I would not mind a steak. She went to the back again and came back and said the chef said steak costs more than the chicken so they would not do it. I said fine, but the chicken breast I was missing out costs more than the one sausage it has been replaced with. The manager went to the back again and said no, we are not changing it. I said OK in that case, can you discount the meal? She said no, she will not discount the mean (she was not very polite by the way). In the end I suggested she refunds the meal, I don't want it (I had not eaten any yet) which she did and I did not eat.

Came in for a quiet few after a busy Monday at work. Mia was an absolute star! Her customer service and hospitality skills really cheered me up and turned my day around so please thank mia! I shall definitely return if she is working!

After a bad experience the first time at Yates Romford. They invited me back to redeem themselves, and I do have to say, what a difference!!! Rima, the supervisor is an exceptional person, and a great chef as well. The food served, mixed grill was cooked to perfection. Changed my mind, and will happily return at any time. Great venue for a night out, DJ plays a good variation of music. Drinks are cheap too! Highly recommend.

The toilets were dirty, smelly and covered in urine on the floor. Tiles were off the walls and wires were exposed. I complained to the bar staff to enquire if they were being decorated but he just shrugged his shoulders. The toilets should be condemned

Always a great place for good beerId like to say it's been a privelidge to have to have eaten here today. The steak for was just toy liking medium rare and sealed salad for chips easily. The staff very professional especially the manager. I watched him give his time out to help two elderly men buy there drinks. He could have easily joked about there naievity with technology but he didn't. He helped them spend the right amount and walk away satisfied. It was a joy to watch. Yates you should be proud of your staff and pay them more. The service was quick and friendly and easily approached . I would have said this about Yates 6 months ago but I can see a huge change. I was with my 12 years old daughter and we were hungry after roaming around in Romford. I ordered Steak and Chips ( Well done) and my daughter Burger. After seeing the steak I just lost my appetite! Born and raised in Collier Row, Romford, I travel up from Saltdean, near Brighton several times each year. A visit to Mum & Dad, watch our greyhound try his best at the dog track, and a couple of days/nights in a pub make for an enjoyable short vacation?First time in YATES, immediate reaction = WOW!!! Called in for lunch . Started with a range of starters which were very good. Had asked for a break between starters and main. We were on a lazy afternoon but were surprised that the gap seemed to stretch on . Lucky i wasn't on a lunch break ! Spoke to the girl behind the bar who apologised and offered us complimentary drinks . Food arrived a couple of minutes later. Very impressed with how situation was handled. Will def go again. Main meal was excellent and my companion said the meat pie tasted as good as home made .only down side was their were a number of screaming children with parents which ruined the overall experience.

Generally had a nice visit. Service was as expected I.e. basic and simple. The pub was quiet, clean and spacious. Toilets were clean . Disabled toilets were not so much. Not enough cutlery on the table nor napkins. Had to raid other tables for that as staff were not forthcoming. Food was hot and ok. Would eat there again. Only issue I had which was a a real shame was that bar staff were quite rude. I ordered three children’s meals which comes with a desert. I placed our main food order and drinks at bar and sat back down for food. After we finished I went back up to the bar to order the children’s deserts which I had paid for. Girl behind the bar said we can’t get them as we didn’t order them when we ordered our main food. But I said we’ve been charged for them. She said yes but you hadn’t put the order in when you paid. So I said why didn’t she mention that it had to be done at the time of ordering? She didn’t answer. I said the children just want a ice cream each. It doesn’t say on the menu that have to order desert at initial Payment stage. So surely the children can have their deserts that I’ve paid for. She went and spoke to someone else and the other lady put it through the till. Both didn’t say a word to me and both gave me continuous dirty looks thereafter that could kill. Just hoping that they didn’t do anything bad to my children’s desert out of spite.

Popped in for a quick bite and opted for a burger and a drink. All bitters were off, OK these things happen. Menu said, burger fries, salad and smokey mayo - sounded nice. Food turned up, eight hard chips and a dried up burger,no salad or mayo. Pretty poor quality all round.

I was in Yates last night and there was a girl serving me (just about) she was so slow and took ages to do anything. I had to wait at the bar for ages as it was. I made a comment about it and she said that she was new. I get that new staff need training but surely everyone knows how to make a drink and you would hire people with a little bit of experience. Didn’t catch her name but she was in on Thursday 28th in a black top and she had french braids.

After waiting over 20 minutes to be served I gave up and returned to my seat. Gave it 10 minutes for the bar to clear. Still no service... not only was the bar sections being inadequately waited, they were left with no response at all. I must admit after half an hour had now passed I called to the bar man who turned out to be the manager and said would you mind if I helped myself and leave the money at the bar? To witch he stormed over and said I will have you thrown out of the fu☆☆ing pub, to which I replied "all I meant was I can see you're short staffed it wasn't personal".

After waiting about forty minutes for our meal my daughters club sandwich had partially frozen bread, & luke warm sweet potato fries, my fries were also luke warm, beef & ale pie was ok & child size portion of peas. The girl behind the bar either couldn't understand me or couldn't hear me, had repeat everything & then the order was still wrong. When the meals did finally arrive had to go back to the bar to get cutlery. Next time we'll go to wetherspoons just a few doors away!

After a family funeral i tried to go in this bar for some karaoke after a recommendation from some people I'd got talking to.Myself,34 years old and my sister in law ,55 years old were refused entry as we had no id.There were no signs saying they were doing this and as a trained doorman with a cps licence know that it is illegal unless it is advertised.While I understand the concept maybe the doormen should just be better trained rather than relying on a machine.Also had been in the day before and the atmosphere was awful,bar staff uninterested and in general was the 2 lowest points of my visit to romford.I will not be going to anymore Yates bar where ever I visit and hope that when I work a door next I don't treat anyone with the disrespect that we were treated with.

visited yesterday 16/12/2018 where do i start no staff no glasses 1 week before christmas really poor had to ask three times for the sound to be put on the football even though everybody was in there for it at first the manager said the commentary would only be on upstairs but the bar upstairs doesent open. we go upstairs no commentary 50 percent of the screens were not working upstairs.customer service in here is very poor training is seriously required toilets are disgusting and smelly avoid this place at all costs if you want to watch football would not return in a hurry

Nice place for drinks and food (when the kitchen is open) It can close at random times which I guess is centred around staffing issues. Staff work hard at being welcoming and do their best to keep the place clean

I’m local to Romford but couldn’t find a roast dinner anywhere. Fortunately Yates offers veggie roasts. It was really disappointing and also we were short changed but only realised when we got home. Will go back to wetherspoons next time. Also it stank of toilets and the tables were filthy! Bar staff seem okay, did have a porn star martini which was lovely but other than that it was crap.

Went there yesterday afternoon with a friend for lunch, ordered their classic burger which comes with fries. When the food eventually arrived after what seemed like a lifetime, the fires were burnt being recognition.

I just won’t to inform you that last night between 6pm and 10pm I attended your public house, on arrival I bought one pint of fosters and one shandy and was short changed £1.60, I bought to the bar tenders attention and he said oh what did I give you I said you know exactly what you gave me he then went to the till and gave me my one pound sixty, when then had food I had the Thai noodle, I did not make it to the end of the football match I got home 21.35 I have been ill through the night, I will be contacting environmental health.

One of three pubs plus restaurants along this short stretch of South Street, it is possibly the cheapest. That said there is little more to say. All the usual pub grub available and beer and wine at very reasonable prices. Good staff.

My Son and I went in to here this week as we happened to be in Romford for a shopping trip. We went in pretty early, maybe midday, and it smells musky with single men sitting at tables drinking on their own - wasn't the best start, but my Son was hungry so we stayed. Burger and fish and chips - not good at all but only came to £9. Staff were friendly and willing to assist so thumbs up to them. No try somewhere else as there are plenty in the town.

I like eating here because the beer always tastes great. The pipes must be cleaned regularly. There are lots of great places to eat in Romford but this particular place has football on a huge screen like a sports bar. The food is always pipping hot and on time. The venue has an upstairs so can accommodate small to large groups. One problem is no children are allowed. Otherwise fantastic venue. In the evenings it has a DJ and one could strut there dance moves till the late hours.

Went here last Thursday 3rd of August. Waited a good 45 minutes to be served as was very busy and a student night. When eventually served after everyone other then my group was served before us, was greeted with a very rude young man. Who insisted that we didn't wave our money at him otherwise he would not serve us. I am unsure of his name, however his colleague Reece was pleasant and lovely. The young man they continued to be rude to other customers, who also agreed that he was an incompendant young man who needs basic people skills training. My friend didnt wave his money at him, and to suggest to refuse service is astounding on his behalf. Stonegate may need to step up their training protocols.
