This place smelled really bad. The beer tasted awful. We did not drink it and left

Nice place, busy with good atmosphere, food was very good and reasonable priced, value for money, good selection of drinks, pleasant barstaff. All in all 10 out of 10

My wife and I called in at The Yates in Hull as we were that end of town. The staff were absolutely brilliant they couldn't do enough for you, extremely helpful and charming. The food was excellent and tasted just perfect. We both had a drink apiece and was tremendously refreshing. Thanks guy's.

Amazing atmosphere great bar staff our bartender Chloe was amazing and gave us plenty shots and we had a belter home and the drinks were lovely

Yates is a great place to visit, There's a large selection of Beers and Spirits at good prices. Very large screen, fantastic for watching sports. The staff are very friendly, the pub is very well presented and clean. I haven't eaten there but if the food tastes as good as it looks then I'm sure it'll be great.

My daughter and myself had toasties, each with chips with bacon and a pot of tea, the chips with bacon 🥓 very nice and the plates were warm. The pot of tea good, unfortunately the toasties were not so good, filling ok, bread pale like under a grill for a few seconds, will still use Yates, but have something different.

Lovely to be served by, Tegan and Chloe today. Great service nice atmosphere very good beer.

Cocktails are amazing and food is always on point. We come every Thursday and becki is very welcoming. I come with my sister and we are now regulars and it's our stop off for lunch every week.

I was impressed by Rebecca's commitment to going the extra mile. Also completely impressed with staffs professionalism and customer service. The ambiance here is always inviting and comfortable.

Fairly quiet on Monday lunchtime, food was usual fast food microwaved pie and frozen chips Beer was not bad though

We generally come here for a light bite when in Hull and found it to be good value. Today however we noticed that the menu had changed, with less offers on it! We went for the Bacon and Cheese toastie, with Dirty Chips, Barbecue Sauce and Spring Onion. When it arrived we were disappointed to see it was two pieces of toasted bread, not the sealed toasties I envisaged. They were over toasted to the point that the crusts were inedible, rock hard. There wasn’t any spring onion, the dirty chips were anything but and the barbecue sauce was more like tomato sauce! For £6.99 each it was one if the worst light bites we’ve ever encountered and didn’t warrant the asking price. The only good thing about the meal was the drinks!! Looks like we’ll be looking for another place to eat in Hull. Disappointed!!

Their food is amazing! Really enjoyed the mixed grill I had and my partner had the cheese and bacon burger and it was much better than expected, great service too! They come and check that everything is okay which is nice compared to other pubs. The cocktails being 2-4-1 is also a bonus!

Wetherspoons was where we wanted to go, but it was closed. We had been to Yates before and the food was pretty rubbish, but we were hoping it had improved - however, it was really, REALLY bad this time. I'd give 0/5 if I could. We ordered our food, and it took ages to arrive and it wasn't particularly busy. The bar lady plonked the cutlery on the table, and we waited. When it arrived, the breakfasts were thrown on the plate, no care on presentation whatsoever. Well, the toastie. Avoid at all costs. The bread for the toastie was like concrete and inedible. I actually laughed when I saw it as it looked so awful and unappetising. I think I would rather starve than eat here.

Food is a little basic. But it is what it is for the prices they charge 🤷

It's a good bar to be in, good atmosphere, plenty of seating and also has upstairs seating. It's a fairly big place, prices are reasonable on food and drink.

Popped in for a quick drink when visiting Hull Shopping Centre recently. Only a few people in.

After waiting for 40 minutes, our food arrived almost inedible; with one meal not as ordered, and both meals cold, with garlic bread and "toasted sandwich" resembling pavement slabs. After complaining, we were offered, by a pleasant barmaid, a full refund. However, this did not compensate for a most unpleasant visit.

Not a bad pub, I didnt order food but is good on a weekend night.

Nice place was having an enjoyable evening until a power mad doorman refused me entrance for being disabled. Was then physically assaulted by another door man who placed his hand on my shoulder and pushed me. I wasn't being aggressive or violent I was trying to explain I walk with a permanent limp. Shame you have to employ bullies like this. And have them disrespect innocent customers.

Went in today with a party of 7 , the food was lovley and we'll worth the price , cooked perfect - thanks to the chef's Kim and Danny, the drinks was nice and cold , perfect on a hot day , staff very welcoming and also a big smile and can actually have a laugh with ,thanks jed and beckie , will definitely be returning soon , highly recommend

Group of 7 3 hull fc, 4 Leeds rhinos fans tried to go to Yates Hull, the day of the first game after Rob Burrow lost his fight, the day before England played their first game in the euro 2024. Refused entry because we were wearing sports shirts - however - when door staff were asked if we were wearing England shirts tomorrow would we not be allowed entry - we were told - of course - its different rules. Someone needs to explain the difference between football & rugby.

Went in on a friday night with friends, busy and ques at the bar were quite waitsome. However good atmosphere, food okay, toilets clean drinks average price for town but overall this place is just tired. Desperatley needs a makeover, has had the same decor for years since it was Lloyds. Could be really great a its spacious, has an upstairs which is nice to eat but even during the day it is very dark and gloomy when it could be fantastic with a bit of TLC.

Just everything I want in an evening/night out. Nice burger friendly staff great atmosphere will definitely make this a regular spot

The food was well presented and hot. According to the server I was the first he had served a Bacon and blue cheese burger to since they added it to their menu and was eager to hear my thoughts. Good mix of classic and modern music. When we were there, it was clean and well run.

Wow! Great service and outstanding food. The gentleman who laid out a ramp for my wheelchair was VERY pleasant, the lady who served us our food and at the bar was great and both sported real and genuine smiles. The food? Absolutely the best pub-grub we have enjoyed for a very long time. Totally recommended!

I visit a few times but not for anything to eat,. I cane in Friday 3rd May, had smothered chicken. It was a really small piece, but enough to give me food poisoning 😟. Never again will I eat here again. The chefs was stood outside having a smoke with there aprons on.

It's reasonably priced with reasonably prepared food. Of the 4 of us everyone one said my meal looked the best. They can't cook a steak to save there lives! Medium rare does not mean we'll done or cremated. I suspect the kitchen cannot cope with the numbers and maybe so many have drunk to much to care. Usual large chain, big screen TV, very Loud. So if you want a conversation without shouting at one another give it a miss. Age of our group mid 40s to mid 60s. So, this review is possibly biased. But, I did enjoy the Katsu Curry. It was a Saturday afternoon, pre football match at the MKM stadium, Hull. So, there are influencing factors here?

Yates is a popular pub in a former bank. The spectacular building has been repurposed into a good food pub. There is a large room showing sports on tv, with two dartboards in the corner, and three small wooden panelled former offices that are a bit quiet. There is also a large balcony. There's a really good reasonably priced food menu. It's a good place to get something to eat, have a drink and meet friends. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. There's a wide choice of beers, lagers, cider, and wine. They are mostly the same as those available in many of the other town bars. There were three hand pulled cask conditioned real ales admans ghostship at only £2.80 a pint very cheap for a populartown pub. wainwright's and Taylors landlord.

A rewrite, and I've remarked my score, thinking about it, I underscored so I've gone three to four. Plus I read the managers response. This was a catch up with friends, I like yates, it's a regular venue whilst we are out on the town. Good for sport, due to numerous screens, and one very large screen, wish they hadn't removed our regular table in the corner, and remove the screen to put in darts, but hey ho. So, we've not had food here, for a very very long time, which was a bit of a disaster that visit , in which we ended up getting a refund, it wasn't nice. Different manager and so on. But feeling Hungry, we noticed food coming out that looked good. Let's take a chance, looked at the menu, and decided on the burger and chips, bit of a risk, as that was what we sent back previously. Now this was £8 odd, and from we gathered came with a free soft drink,or alternatives , not something that I wanted, I'd of preferred a beer, and would of been happy to pay a small extra charge to upgrade to such. Now in the previous reply from the deputy manager, I was told that they actually do this, unfortunately for us, it wasn't really clear, It would of been nice to be asked that on ordering, but assured this would be looked at. Least we know next time any way. The burger chips arrived, looked okay, smelt good, I thought it wasn't the biggest of burgers, but for eight pounds, burger chips, drink, I guess I cannot complain really 😁 Chips were okay, the burger was good, tasty, a step up from our first disaster, Actually I enjoyed it, only gripe, is I kept biting into little bits of hard, what I thought was gristle in the burger, not sure what it was, but it wasn't anything to put me off. Yeah, marked improvement, like this venue, good for beers, can get a bit busy, but one of the go to bars. And staff are usually friendly, and serve you fairly quick.

This is our usual place my mother and myself if we are in town.. If i have a day pick off mum up and we look forward to the warm welcome we get every time we are here. Rhe hrealfasts are hot well. Cooked well presented and good value. Could have some non caffeine tea but its cool. We would always recommend visiting here. Hannah and Tegan were on today great staff attentive and lovely. Been to Yates a few times over the years with my mates, always get served quickly even if it’s busy and the food is great whenever I’ve had it.

This is my go to pub .I visit most days .staff are great. I was served today by Becky and hannah. Walked in got served my usual . Did not even have to ask its just there ready for me (GREAT).

only do after noons personally i have a wife at home needs caring for i can get a few hours off every so often yates is slightly expensive but it helps keep the punters of a reasonable standard and not too over crowded
