We’ve been wanting to visit since Yamas opened last year and finally made it at the weekend. Perhaps we had been waiting too long and were expecting too much, but we were very disappointed. Firstly, which door do we use? The single door in the side or the double doors leading off the outside seating area? We chose the double doors and had to squeeze past other diners to announce our arrival. Having booked, our table wasn’t ready. We understand that. The previous occupants were enjoying themselves and weren’t rushed, and we were invited to go upstairs and have a drink at the bar whilst we waited. Sadly, there was no barman so drinks weren’t forthcoming. Once seated, again squeezing past other diners, we chose from an excellent menu and eagerly awaited our Greek food. More disappointment, disappointing beef stifado, oregano fries with no obvious oregano, bland chicken skewers with an equally bland paprika mayonnaise and overly salted prawns. Having since seen the reviews, Yamas have clearly listened to some of them and increased portion size (we had too much) but they also need to remove a table so that diners and staff can move around the restaurant. It would also behove them to respond to reviews instead of completely ignoring them! Our evening was not the authentic Greek evening we were looking forward to, we hope that others have a better experience.

Great service! Yummy food, beautiful setting. The menu appears quite rigid with minor changes to meals not possible (ie no tzatziki) so not. Great choice for any fussy eaters (I assume they would accommodate allergies but we had no experience of this so can’t comment). The staff were lovely, the cocktails and wine delicious and the menu authentically Greek with gyros, stifado etc. on the harbour front with lovely views. Would recommend highly.

Me and a friend visited on Thursday, we love Greece and love Greece food but did not realise that this restaurant had Greek chefs cooking authentic Greek food. I can’t not possibly put into words how delicious the food was and how lovely the restaurant is. The customer service from Nicki who waited on us and Nickolai the chef was amazing even going as far as letting us try the fresh baklava and packaging up some to take home. My friend was in Cornwall visiting but I live here and this will definitely be somewhere I will visit again regularly!!!

With harbour views and a sunny terrace Yamas is in a prime Looe location. Our expectations of food quality were high given its sister restaurant is the award winning Sardine Factory across the river in West Looe. Booking is essential and we could only get a 6.30pm-8.30pm table - which was fine. Our starters of Greek dips and pitta plus cheese pies were very tasty and well executed. We needed and asked for more pitta (as did the table next to us) but was irritated to be charged £2 for it. The baklava to finish the meal was some of the best we’ve tasted: so moist and deliciously spiced. My husband enjoyed his main of beef cheek but needed some sides to go with it ( we did ask the waitress if it needed some sides when ordering it but she advised us it would be ok without any). I had the chicken souvlaki Gyros but was disappointed with it and felt it was poor value in that it had very little chicken in it. I’ll try another dish next time. The wine list comprises mainly Greek wines and we really enjoyed the white wine from Paros. There was a lovely buzz to the place and I wish it success since it’s important to Looe and of course to the people who run it.

Fabulous lunch at Yamas. Food was superb and staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Good sized portions. We shared 2 "starters" and a large greek salad which was plenty. Good wine. Will definitely be back when the sardines are back on!!

There were three of us and we enjoyed an excellent Greek meal with delightful and gentle service. We started with the dip platter - and the pitta was so very good - the dips were excellent! For mains two had the amazing seafood platter fit for a king and t other had chicken souvlaki - 2 skewers, the children’s portion, with those wonderful beans! Only two had space for dessert - one had baklava and the other Greek yoghurt with honey, figs and nuts. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Happily we are not tourists and will return often - especially in the non-holiday periods! Well:done and a massive thank you to the chef as well as the amazing front of house staff!

We stopped here for a light bite after looking for somewhere to eat in Looe and we were so pleased we did. We had a drink each and a portion of the sardines and the calamari. Both were cooked to perfection and delicious to eat. Staff were attentive and the price was very reasonable for the standard of food.

The service was slow, waited over 1 hour for our main meal, waitress said delay was because they had a Buffett upstairs (they arrived after we had our starter). The music was so loud we could not hear each other speaking. Veg was very overcooked, moussaka was bland and just warm. Mussels not very good quality with some very small.Sea bass was so small about 4oz (before cooked) overcooked. We were looking forward to our evening out and would not go back or recommend.

I’m so glad to have finally visited here. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was so tasty and well presented. It was nice to listen to Greek music whilst eating Greek food. The furniture also fitted well with the theme. The price was really reasonable with other establishments in Looe and especially Cornwall. Will definitely be back here again.

Superb authentic Greek food, the kalamari was soft and delicious. The octopus excellent followed by a nice large lamb shank, mousakka, local fish, souvlaki, gigandes (large beans) - all excellent. Nice background Greek music, service excellent and the Greek house wine accompanied very well. Tables are close as it’s a small place so you have to expect this and deal with it. Also has Greek beer. Baklava and milk pie in pastry delicious.

We had the best ever moussaka we have ever eaten. It comes with a small Greek salad which was equally as good. Service was very pleasant. Wine was good. Tables a bit too close together but it was not busy so that was fine. We came down from Pelynt especially for a lunch on Wednesday having checked it was open on the internet. When we walked up to the restaurant it looked like it was closed. We turned away to leave. Then my husband went back to peer through the window at very close quarters and then said it was open as he could just see a couple around the corner. I wonder how many people walk past early at lunchtime and can’t see any people and think it is closed and walk away. It really would benefit from a sign outside saying open please come in or something like that.

Both times we have visited have been for a birthday and the staff have decorated with balloons and banners. The food is delicious, we haven't found anything to complain about (and some of us are rather fussy). My 6 year old gave the tomato pasta 4 thumbs up.
