I went to yallops yesterday with my friend and witnessed a larger member of staff I'm assuming the (boss) in another member of staff face shouting and belittling him in a way that was not fit for private let alone in a busy shop with paying members of the public , The language was foul and to be fair the other male member of staff did not deserve the abuse he was receiving , I was so disgusted I didn't even wait to be served ,At one point the larger male was head to head with the other male member and he didn't say a word just took all the abuse given to him absolutely disgraceful .Can't comment on the food as I left before being served but last time I did have food the chips were OK but the fish was all batter and bones , Definitely improvement needs to be made and definitely work ethics discussed as that's certainly not a way to run a business and keep staff . :(

We have eaten for years from Yallops. In the past we always had great service and lovely fish and chips. Sadly last few times on visiting Yallops the food has gone downhill drastically. The last time today, was the last time! Chips were cold and not fresh, fish.... well what fish???? It was just batter! Took it back, wanted a refund but was offered another piece of fish/batter. Very sad to see a well renowned fish bar selling food that's overpriced and not even edible. They are solely resting on their prime location, and ripping the public off by doing so. I for one will not be going here again, and many of my friends and family have also had the same experience. We would prefer to either eat locally In one of the many restaurants or travel up the road to another fish shop. Certainly will not be going to Yallops again.

Clearly the staff need a lesson in kitchen ethics! You do not scrape your greasy hair back and tie it up on the serving counter and then proceed to serve food! This was our second visit in two weeks the 1st was okay apart from the young girls hanging around out the back and chatting with the cook who kept shouting 5mins for Chips every 5mins stop talking and fry! The second time was the girl and her hair who just appeared from the back with her coat on and started serving, we left after waiting for her to at least wash her hands but NOPE.....From what I gather this place is managed for someone (Nick was the owner a few years ago) I'm sure he would be utterly disappointed and disgusted with the place, maybe a rethink. Am surprised at recent poor reviews which nearly put us off using this chip shop. Five adults and three children all had something at some point during our week in Mumbles. It was normally just one person on any day so we managed a total of six separate visits at varying times of the day (both lunch and evening). At times when Mumbles was crowded they would be very busy and they worked hard to keep up with demand. During these times the food was obviously served as soon as it was cooked. When it was quiet it could have been in the warmers for a little while but even then we never had problems with the quality of the food. The chips were always cooked to perfection and were not greasy and crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The fish was obviously fresh with crispy batter.

A party of 5 of us called in for fish and chips for dinner on Monday 27/06/15. Perhaps buying fish on a Monday wasn't a good idea. Quite a few menu items were off. so we just had small portions of cod and chips. The chips were barely edible and so none of us could finish them. My fish and chips, large sausage, ketchup and a bottle of water was more than £7 which I thought was expensive. After trying the chips, I would say that it was poor value too. The chips at the end of the pier were cheaper but looked a bit anemic, however, having smelt the curry sauce when I had passed this place earlier, I returned. I don't buy chips very often but I thought that perhaps £3.50 for a small portion with curry sauce was on the pricier end of the scale. It was well worth it though as the curry sauce was really good and very plentiful. Would have been a five star review if they had provided serviettes on the counter, the curry sauce is runny so take a plentiful supply of tissues if you want to eat yours by the beach.

I've never come across a group of people less interested in running a fish and chip shop in my life. This level of interest also applies to you and your order. We had to repeat the order and correct them several times which was all the more remarkable considering we were the only ones there! Requesting tomato ketchup and the wrapping of your chips is also met with confusion and dismay, but we got there eventually. The fish and chips themselves: well the fish was full of bones but it actually tasted OK. So, the taste has pushed my review up to 2/5, but it's probably easier to make them yourselves.

Very disappointed - lovely food but the customer service received leaves much to be desired. Decided on yallops for a visit this evening having spent the evening relaxing around the mumbles. on arrival there were quite a few customers waiting around for chips to be cooked (not an issue). Not a staff member to be seen on first arrival, eventually a young boy and girl made their way to behind the counter to look at serving. The gentleman before us certainly didn't receive a warm welcome and then it came to us. The young girl with curly hair proceeded to ask us for our order, not a smile in sight - in fact I would go as far as to say it felt as though we were more of a burden to even be asking for a service that as far as we were aware was going to be provided by walking through the doors of the shop. She was very ignorant, huffing, staring out other customers as they left the shop, looking them up and down. We were served our food and without eye contact advised of the cost, when passing back the change to my partner again she had no eye contact and a face like thunder. I'm certainly not one to complain - especially when the food was so good however it has left me so appalled at the way we were treated as customers and the arrogance of a staff member that is paid to provide a good customer service. In my own career if I were to treat customers as this girl did I would most certainly be out of a job. Perhaps management should take a look at the review of not only myself but that of others and look in to the reason as to why there are so many other bad reviews when there is no need when the shop sells such delicious food. May I just note that although I advise of the curly haired girl who served us as having a lack of customer service - I can't say that there was much more customer service received by any of the other staff working there this evening however it has left me utterly frustrated but our own experience. Also a fish and chip shop that didn't have enough fish (only one piece there ready to be served) to the point that me and my partner ended up sharing a piece.

We called in here at 7pm at night. there was a small queue and the girl serving said that chips would be five minutes, which is fair enough. however, that was 5 minutes to peel the spuds, 5 minutes to chip them, then 5 minutes to cook them! the 2 girls at the shop hid in the back room, popping their head out to see how many people were there and to enquire who wanted fish. When eventually the chips were ready, they really didn't have any interest in the customers. I fact they were quite rude an uninterested. the only time they showed any interest in their surroundings is when the girl serving mobile phone started ringing. They both actually got quite animated! Talking to each other across the range, the girl serving enquiring who was ringing her and the other girl full of fuss to see who it was! Really inspires confidence that these people understand food safety (& health and safety) when they have a mobile phone in close proximity to where food is being cooked & served. God forbid that you burn if you have your mobile in your hand. And your chip scoop isn't there for you to open the drawer of the chip cabinet. Food was ok, over priced for mediocre.

Been visiting this fish and chip shop every year whilst on our annual visit to Caswell Bay.Its been going down hill for the last few years but we decided to give it ago again this year! (What a mistake)When walking in, there was not a single piece of fish ready, as a large family we wanted about 6 pieces of cod. Seeing as the oven was empty we assumed they'd already have more in the fryer being cooked (it was 6pm on Fri), but nope, they had to batter and put them in to order! The next 3 customers wanted fish and were told a 20 minute wait!Someone came in and asked for chicken (there was a huge blackboard advertising this) but they were told there was no chicken, someone else asked asked for plaice and were told they didn't have any!!The whole time the lady who was cooking was talking on the phone and wasn't paying attention to any orders which then resulted in them not cooking enough regular cod and another customer getting to the counter to be told she'd have to wait again after her already 20 minute wait!!I totally understand that people want it fresh and dont want a piece of fish which has been sitting there for ages but surely on a Fri evening they should've been a little more prepared to save people waiting around. Useless! Aren't fish and chip shops supposed to be classed as fast food?? It certainly wasn't fast and very expensive at that! We'll give it a miss next year!

chips nice but overpriced. Don't be fooled into buying a premier pie though as charged over £3 for a "Peters" pie you can buy for a £1 in the supermarket Also the pie placed in tray first so only got half portion of chips. over £9 for pie and chips twice. Just no need to fleece people in this way

They have been in Mumbles for ever. The takeaway is the same as every other chip shop but much more expensive..they can get away with it in Mumbles

Delicious cod, freshly cooked, crispy batter and a generous portion of chips. Eat them on the promenade overlooking the sea.

We stopped by about 9.30pm in the evening, after a wonderful but exhausting day exploring the many beaches of he Gower. The chips were lovely, and there was a good choice of thing to go with them, from Peter's pies to faggot and home-mode rissoles. We ate them on the promenade, righ across he road from he shop. A perfect end to a perfect day!

Yallops is a good takeaway fish and chip shop. There were eight of us and they cooked our fish fresh to order. The chips and mushy peas were very good, as was the cod. I tried a portion of Faggots with chips and mushy peas, which at about £2.50 all in was excellent value and really good. A pity they do not have a dining room to eat in.

This was literally the worst breakfast me and my partner have ever eaten! Even our one year old little boy turned his nose up at his scrambled egg and toast. All of the meat was dry and tasteless! The
