Ordered scampi and a woman came out from the back, said "REALly ? WHO wants Scampi? "...it reminded me of a Monty Python sketch, only weirder ... Strange place ...

Absolutely top notch proper fish and chips. Came here last Saturday around 7pm. People queuing out the door for take away and after eating here I can see why. Staff very helpful and friendly. 3 of us ate in - 2 plaice and 1 cod all with chips. Fish was the width of my plate and thick. Batter superb, crispy and light. Loads of chips, cooked just right, all washed down with a bottle of pop (£2.70 for 2 litres). My new go to place for whenever I fancy a fish supper.

Just looked at the previous reviews. What is wrong with those people! The fish bar offers excellent fish superbly fried,accompanied by hugely generous portions of more/ish chips. Prices~~~so inexpensive. Perhaps the person who found it expensive ought to compare the prices of burger bars and other fast food outlets. Never heard such nonsense. And no I don't have a personal connection to the business!

We were visiting Swansea and looking for a quick takeaway lunch. Decided on Monni’s Fish bar and were not disappointed. Between four of us we had 3 large sausages and two large portions of chips. Food was plentiful and really great quality. Would definitely return in the future. Only issue was with finding a place to park nearby, not a fault of the restaurant but something to bear in mind if driving,

Asked for salt and vinegar but they still sent my delivery without salt and vinegar...not even sachets. How hard it is for a fish and chip shop to add salt and vinegar to chip and chips!!!!!????

Cannot beat a great chippy tea, and this place gives you exactly that.

Well I have to say, talk about shrink economy, normally I would purchase a large fish and chips from Monni's Fish Bar Swansea which would be enough for my daughter and myself, but yesterday, well, I even asked the person serving if it was a large cod! £10 for a potato and baby eel. Disgraceful

Fantastic fish and chips. Unfortunately, you have just increased the price to £10. I cannot afford to pay ten pounds for fish and chips as a single person home owner. I will not return as I simply cannot afford it.

I've sampled these chips plenty - over many years. have never had a meh moment, has always been mmm. Says it all really.. the fish cakes, fish, sausage etc is all window dressing as far as I'm concerned but from what I've had 👍 tastes good Staff all friendly n kind too

A proper traditional Fish n Chipper ! Real potatoes and fish cooked to order. We were in a hurry as we had concert tickets and the staff delivered on time. I loved it !

Food was meh. Not as good as some of the other chippys in Swansea but OK if your hungry. Not sure but the chips were a little bland, slightly on the soggy side missing that nice suble crisp. Fish also seemed abit tasteless and on the overcooked side.

Great value, and big portions. I had haddock and chips with mushy peas, this is a standard fish n chips shop traditional style, with a good selection of fish -the haddock was delicious and fresh, batter crispy, the chips thick and tasty, and a huge portion, for regular size, delicious, highly recommend.

Charming fish bar with lovely staff! Took our lunch out to the beach and the fish batter was still beautifully crispy. Will definitely come back 🌞

Monni’s is the real deal…great fresh fry and hand cut chips. A lot of love going into that and you can really taste it. A real gem!

Really good fish'n'chips! Large portions and very tasty. The only small drawback is that you have to read the menu carefully and the set doesn't include peas and you can't add them after ordering. Generally tasty and at a reasonable price.

Walked in to a lovely greeting from the lady. Old fashioned chippy with seating and all was clean and tidy, a bit chilly with the door open but it was closed after. Tried a rissole for the first time and found the batter soft but have nothing to compare it to. The mushy pea fritter was super as were the chips. I prefer the cod to be skinless but it was fresh and tasty. Loved the old fashioned menu behind the tills. Easy to park and good value for money.

The chips he made were perfectly cooked, and my son which never eats any sauces tried the curry sauce and loved it, they were really friendly and overall such a nice experience

We used Deliveroo and the large tasty cod & lots of chips arrived hot and ready to eat. Nice touch it came with vinegar, tartar sauce salt and slice of lemon. Good value for money.

Ordered cheese chips and gravy smallest portion ever tiny sprinkle of cheese you can barely notice that it has any on it and dont get me started on the tiny amount of gravy i had considering it was supposed to be a large and ordered cheese rissole it was disgusting as it was soaked in salt and vinegar only thing that was ok was the 2 saveloys and they are pre cooked anyway just warmed up in the microwave but they was luke warm won't be eating from this place again was even overcharged 10p but not bothered about that just the food was awful all cost £13 and was definitely not even worth a tenner for the tiny meal i had im staying well away from this place complete rip off with the smallest portions

I ordered large cod + large chips. Loads of chips, but the fish was very small. It's not cheap, so therefore it's poor value. I'll go elsewhere.

Love the fish here, covered in a light tasty batter definitely recommend it.

ordered online and can i just say the food was absolutely phenomenal! the chips were amazing even without salt and vinegar and the curry sauce was flavorful and delightful without setting my mouth on fire. honestly the food was so good i was writing poems about the curry sauce! monni's you have earned yourselves a very loyal customer!

I've been here many times over the years and I think it's one of the best fish and chip restaurant's in town but after not having been there in a little while I popped in today for large cod and chips, I have to say I was really disappointed, ok I know everything has gone up but it was £10 for the fish and chips, that I can accept but when the meal came out on my plate I couldn't believe how small the fish was and how little chips I had been give, definitely a lot less than you used to get there. I mean come on how much do a few extra chips cost the business? Sadly I won't be going there again.

Without a doubt the best chippie in Swansea. Staff are always amazing, the food is fantastic and they know how to make it properly! Nice place to sit indoors our out if you fancy - or grab a wooden fork and be on your way.

My favorite fish bar but the wait times sometimes can be overwhelming especially when you are hungry or in a rush. Then sometimes can be bit crowded but the wait is always worth it. Good fish , hot and lovely... so I ve learnt to always book ahead before going. So they have it ready

First visit to the food emporium, as I was there for a birthday treat. Very warm welcome, staff helpful and attentive. Food of a great standard and reasonably priced.

This should not be listed as gluten free - they have NO GF food.

Honestly, disaster from start to finish. 10 minutes wait before being served despite no que ahead of us. Proceeded to get order wrong, workers displayed huge lack of hygiene when moving around the kitchen. Touching floor mats in between cooking. Got home to enjoy our food after experiencing one of the worst customer experiences to date, to find the chips tasted like cardboard, fish clearly wasn’t cooked properly and had only been semi battered. Overall, I hope the depressed staff and horrible food was a one-off. Maybe try smile next time could go along way

Had chips from here saturday night. I went to use one down which had higher marks but was closed so moni's was the next nearest one. First of all, service was frustratingly slow. Maybe new girls but if they are experienced then they need to speed it up and maybe panic when the queue gets longer, customers waiting. Got my portion which was a good portion in quantity. eating them, they were under cooked so not so soft in the middle. Didnt enjoy them whatsoever. maybe a one off but will not use again. maybe the owner panicked and got the chips out too early inview of clearing the queue.

Decent food and huge portions. My in-laws have lived in Swansea all their life and this is the only chip shop they go to (which tells you something).

Very decent food. Live local so pop in now and then and always impressed by the quality. Price isn't too extortionate either tbf considering everywhere else has gone up. Pleasant friendly staff and good quick service.

Went on Tuesday. Two people were serving, a young lad and a girl. It was her first day but she did did a fantastic job of taking orders and wrapping food. The young lad was professional throughout the busy period giving time and respect to all customers while training the girl. Very impressive. Food was excellent. Monni's is now going to be a regular.

Had the classic (large) fish and chips with curry. Fish was hot and crisp and the chips weren't greasy. We were even offered hot sauce with our fish. All-in-all, really enjoyed. Would recommend.

Shame on you selling fish in Swansea I have eaten fish all over UK. And your fish for is the worst one I ever eaten. First charging your clients £9.10 And you giving them fish with skin. The good thing The fish test at fresh But your chipsTested very old your oil tested very bitter. When you putting salt on the chips don't put fish on the top Because you cannot Cover the whole chips with salt

Very disappointing. I ordered haddock, chips and mushy peas via deliveroo. The haddock wasn’t thoroughly cooked and the batter was raw in several places. The chips were poor quality, full of eyes and black bits. Monnies, you’ve just lost a regular customer.

We had called at Monni’s a number of times for takeaways but once the Covid restrictions were eased it was a real treat to “sit in” on Friday 21st May.We called again on Wednesday 9th June. I really enjoy cod and chips and it is always delicious. Staff are very friendly and all of the necessary Covid precautions were being taken.
