Roma Fish Bar in Swansea

I literally had to put 1 star up in order to post a review it doesn't deserve a single star for what i have been given. I haven't had from here in quite some time and I can honestly say it is the worst I've ever had, ordered two cheeseburgers a small chips and a saveloy, the saveloy was an exploded mess that was inedible it looked and smelt more like a microwaved hot dog, the chips were awful and a small chips was not even enough for two people and the burgers were so dry we couldn't even finish them. We definitely will not have food from here again so disappointed as it used to be a nice chip shop.

Ordered a large chips there was about 50 chips in the rolled up piece of paper Utterly disgusting the lack of food for £5.50

Visited this fish bar in morriston yesterday with my son, he ordered a LARGE chips in a tray to find when he opened them it was served as a child's portion, I went back in the fish bar to be told by an ignorant young boy working there that is was a LARGE portion chips and that he was told to serve smaller size chips, Well if you serve smaller size portion then you should lower your price NOT PAY 3.60 for a large when you get served a child's portion!!!!

Foods nice, but the large bag of chips is tiny

Ordered veggie sausage and onion Bhaji. After 15 mins asked how long would it be and was told it was cooked just waiting to be served. After 20 mins they started my order but no Bhaji. Waited while they cooked one, but when I got out the shop was cold in middle. At least chips were nice

Great local chippy. Tends to be busy in the evenings so there’s a bit of a wait but that’s expected. Staff are friendly & they work as fast as they can when there’s a big queue.

This is a take away. It serves good fish and chips. Parking is a nightmare and a bit of a nuisance. All dishes are good quality.

They have lovely fresh food. Fish was very fresh and not soggy. Their prices have jumped up and more than the worth of the food. Nevertheless a good fast food take away.

Bad new using uber not romas fault but shouldnt be using uner if the deliver driver gonna dump it on the road about 2 miles away lol marvel mun

Had to wait for chips ,so thought l would have hot fresh portions, When l got them home ,they were cold , and so dry and resembled cardboard .The sausages , one of which had a lump of rock hard grizzle inside ,the other 2 in batter soggy and bland. My last visit. I would not recommend. Never consistent , go elsewhere people.

Very friendly staff and owner. Always a delight to pop in when visiting the area. Would certainly recommend it to anyone who's after good fish or even something more unique (fritters, rissoles etc)

Comparing with current economical situation on the market! 🫰) Fish 🐟 & Chips 🍟😋 Large COD 🎣 + Large Chips + Proper Mushy Peas 🫛 around £12 There were Two things which I didn't like tbh. 1) Waiting time (Deliveries have priority!) 2) SERVICE - lack of interaction/disinterest, slow PS. DELICIOUS CHEESE RISSOLES 😍

It's a Chippy in Wales. Very clean with good local food. Do a variety of Welsh only specials not found in England. The staff were kind and helpful. Thanks 🙏

I recently tried the fish and chips at this restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The fish was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the chips were perfectly seasoned. The portions were generous, and the service was quick. It's a great spot for a classic and satisfying fish and chips meal.

was in fish shop today,place an order consuming 2 large chips I regular chips fish and large sausage and batter costing £18.75, when we got home to find that the boy who served me needs to be told when paying for a LARGE chips we should be given a large portion not the size we were given there wasn't even enough chips for a child so when i ordered 2 large was goin to share a large but couldn't as my child would haven't enough for her self let alone an adult, very poor, and disappointing, when the girls serve you get a decent LARGE,please this needs to be addressed ASAP

On this occasion the chips were overcooked. The fish was lovely. The were flies everywhere which was off putting and the store room is now way too close to the seating area which meant staff were passing us all the time and clattering in the store room and fridges. A bit disappointing on this occasion.

This fish bar is by far the best,the food is amazing and the staff are lovely, spotlessly clean inside,and never wait long for order 😁

Ordered a delivery, one product was not delivered, the manager (Alex) argued with my wife that they would not deliver the missing item and was quite happy not to receive our custom again, we used to make regular purchases between £25 and £30 it's quite heartening that a local company is happy to lose regular customers over a £2.30 bottle of drink, this person Alex is quite happy to be confrontational on the telephone over a fault that was not the customers. Dreadful.

Food is great if a little on expensive side for a chip shop. Service is dire. Simply unable to cope when it gets busy. Sunday evening uber delivery was 20 mins late (uber fault) I rang roma to be told the food was packed and ready BUT no attempt to replace cold chips or reheat them. Also quite indifferent on phone, whoever answered you would think had never used a phone or spoken before 🤷

Nicely cooked chips and good portion sizes. Great to see some vegan items on the menu too.

Second Sunday in a row and the service and food is spot on. 👌Phoned order thro and it was ready. Can't wait for next Sunday. 😁

Usually my favourite go to but had delivery tonite paid for large chips and small chips both same size small. Also curry sauce carton only half full . Absolutely disappointed today with what I received. Delivery was great.. Had delivery since been 👍

Absolute joke lately.. portions of chips are ridiculous, £3 for large chips and there was about 2 handfuls of chips no word of a lie, used to go there and a large would be enough for 3-4 of us it was barely enough for 1 adult

Probably one of the best fish and chip shops in south wales! Definitely hands down the best in Swansea..always fresh and tasty..shop is immaculate! Friendly staff too. Always worth the wait for their yummy fish..would not go anywhere else!! Cant reccomend enough 😁👍

Sometimes hit and miss. I've had some beautiful meals from here and some not so great. If it were more consistent I'd give 5 stars!

Got food from here for years but lately they’re more interested in the Uber eats mob than the loyal customers who take the time to visit the shop. Went in this week and only 2 customers in there but made to wait over 10/15 minutes while they were arranging orders for the delivery men who just walk in and go to the front of the queue. The 3 staff didn’t once acknowledge we were there the whole time waiting just focused on the online orders and delivery men. Walked out in the end and went to a competitor whose customer service was so much better. Can’t rate the food obviously on this occasion but customer service - zero. Safe to say we’ll be going elsewhere for fish and chips from now on.

Lovely food, only one person in front of me, waited half an hour after ordering and paying for my food, staff were so busy with online orders it was like didn't exist, I will never go there again.

Arrived at 8:50 ordered fishcake and chips first of all I was short changed buy £5 secondly I did ask for the chips to be double wrapped because I had to walk home that didn't happen when I got home the fish cake was completely not fit for human consumption it was totally rock hard on contacting the shop I was told we will give you your money back which doesn't help me when I ordered food to eat when I got home absolute disgrace

Possibly the better Fish N chip place in SA6 as having been using there services the foods always ready al so fresh then watching the staff it’s so smoothly run kudos to the owners they have it off to a tee . Definitely be back , also they deliver through Dileroo, on Amazon prime

I found this place rather expensive for a chip shop. I had fish bites which in my view were not worth the money. Staff were friendly and happy.

Been there 7 times, and 6 out of the 7 times they've messed the order up. Food is good, so that's the only reason we go back.

Sorry to say but large fish seems to get smaller everytime, chips lot of bad ones in portion surely they could cut out the black/bad bits. And the prices have gone up 😪😖

Ordered food on line , picked food up got home we had some of our order and some of someone else’s order and what we had was awful. Could not take back as shop was closed. Chips not cooked and some overcooked fishy bites had so much salt and vinegar were inedible only good thing was pie but they only had to warm that . Had someone else’s rissoles and chicken nuggets which were thrown away don’t waste your money. Rubbish

Best battered cod in Swansea... My favourite chippy 😁

Ordered from there for the first time for my elderly dad who's been missing his fish and chips since lockdown. He's very fussy about his cod and I asked him if it was good and he said he would give it four thumbs up if he could. It was fantastic, big piece of cod in a nice thick batter and chunky fish inside. Smelled and looked really nice I might try one myself next time!

I ordered a fish and chip supper for 2 using the phone and collect service, I gave 15 minutes notice and my meal was ready on arrival and the fish fresh out of the fryer, the staff are always helpful and polite, always cleaning and attentive to detail. There's always a friendly atmosphere even when they are busy, the owner/manager is always looking for perfection and makes sure the staff are on top of everything. Excellent portions the fish cooked to order and the potato scollaps are the best in Swansea, prices are in line with other local chip shops. I recommend this chip shop delicious you won't be disappointed.

Dreadful service, rotten chips. Signage states “maximum three people inside”, however on the contrary the same sign has a circle and a cross through three people - rather confusing. There was one person already being served whilst our party of two entered, we looked at the menu and were chatting. The guy behind the counter asked that one of us leave. It was raining heavy outside. Going off the dig by I assumed two people maximum, only for him to call the next customer in. Dreadful customer service, why should I stand outside in the rain and have to wait? When we had our food, the chips were as bad as the service.... rotten black and hard chips that had clearly been standing there for what must have been hours. Nothing like the other Roma’s in Gorseinon/Penclawdd. Won’t be returning, will stick with Central fish bar in Morriston which has better service, and nicer fresher food, not to mention much more generous portions for the money paid.

Restaurant was clean and service was quick and friendly. There was a very friendly young woman who served me I didn’t catch her name she must have only been 16 or 17 but what a pleasant,friendly and efficient young woman she was. I placed a large order and she got everything right I will definitely be returning.

Very hit and miss, the Morriston branch! Chips are very rarely nice and run buy school kids :( To avoid disappointment i would go to the gorsigenin branch or order a pizza

Simple order of sausage, chips and curry sauce. There was one person in front of us, they happily accepted payment saying it'll be no longer than 5 mins. With no exaggeration we were left waiting over 30 mins outside as there were no chips! It was the dishonesty at the start that is the main reason for this 1 star review

Really nice fish and chips. Good portion sizes and fish is in crispy light batter and chips are large and crispy but soft chip-shop style. Definitely recommend!

Excellent Fish n Chips and has recently reopened after Covid outbreak. Well organized and safe to visit, ticket handed to us on payment and we waited outside until fresh fish was cooked.

Food good when cooked fresh sadly they try and pass of food that's been cooked for hours asked owner why do this had a lot abuse of him told not to come back so when vist look at quality of food before you buy

I have been using this chippy since 1995, and yes its changed hands in recent years but the quality remains the same. I always give my family a choice when we visit the Gower, Either a nice sit down meal, or a chippy tea and sit in the car park by the sea. And everyone asks " Are we going the Roma chippy?" Oh yes!, Roma it is then!. I have never had a bad chip, here let alone a bad meal. I cant believe some of the bad reviews are because of salad? Salad for gods sake! its a flipping traditional chippy. I always have the Chicken and mushroom pie chips and curry, and then the house specialty on the side! battered local Cockles, hmmmmmm yummy. If the owners read this, I wouldn't let the negative reviewers worry you to much. The food is excellent, staff are excellent, prices are excellent. And we will always call in every single time we are down the Gower. love this place.
