Rossi's in Swansea

Its the only chip shop does vegan chips and they absolutely beautiful!. I recommend them to all my vegan friends.

I usually really look forward to visiting this chip shop before I go to the match when my team visits Swansea. Although I got there early to avoid the queues, the fish had clearly been cooked for hours and hours before, and the chips were thin and very bitty, far from the standards I have come to expect over the years. Sorry to say, but next year I will look out a different chip shop.

Lovely experience. Good fish good chips. Service was excellent especially the supervisor Johan who was a really cool guy.

Called in for a quick takeaway to eat before our journey home from visiting the area. Service with a smile it was not…made to feel like an inconvenience for ordering. Fish was awful and like it had been warmed up from yesterday. Chips…mostly soggy scrumps; I like scrumps but have never been served them soggy before…curry sauce like water. The only redeeming factor was the bread roll tasted like a bread roll.

Gone downhill. I've been a few times recently and it's hit or miss unfortunately. Fish is bland, chips portions vary, they are not consistent and they are not fresh at times. Shame. They've also got a new system to log your number plate, for what purpose is unclear. Toilets need a damn good clean. Disgusting and smelly.

Didn't want to hurt rossi sraff Feelings, but the cod was OK. But the batter was over chewy, overcrisped & rock hard on each end. Stabbed my gums, so we couldn't eat it. The Cod meat was barely filling and looked like it was farmed in a weight loss camp. So hardly any meat and then curled up each end. Chips was perfectly done. 5/5. If compare it to "youngs Cod brand" it tastes miles better compared to what we had. Now that's super filling fish meat and perfect batter that keeps it flat. Even the fish cake was lukewarm & tasteless..so added salt & vinegar to flavour it up. The place looked super clean, super cosy and welcoming. The staff are great there, kind & professional. So 5/5 for them. But overall the price is extortionate, in my opinion. £9 for Fish is super steep. To jump £6 to £9, nope. So won't be going back for cod & chips. Maybe I'll try something else on the menu.

Fish disgusting chewy and hard chips were vile always loved the food here never again!! 33.00 small fish and chips 1 kids chips and gravy and 2 cokes..Been ill all the following day never again don't waste ur money.

Absolutely shocking experience today. First time we’ve been there for a while. Shocked to see we only had half an hour free parking when eating in. Ordered our food which took nearly 20mins to come. After advising this only gives us 10 minutes for us to eat our food, the women laughed and walked off. Considering it took a while to come the food was cold and not what we’ve used to! Never returning again

Personally I think it’s over rated, but still decent.

We haven't been here for a long while. The food has changed dramatically. I had lasagne, it was disgusting, and my husband's pie wasn't much better. The best thing was the service

disappointed you can't give zero ratings, food was piss poor, and quite pricey for the quantity you get, a large chips from roma in Gorseinon feeds 2 of us with chips left over for 2nds, after I plated my chips from rossi's had to go and get more because there was no way that amount was feeding 2 of us, and the chips themselves were terrible, soggy and some were black will never return here again, reading the other reviews probably about time to get someone that can actually cook decent chips and fish

This chippy has gone from once the best chip shop to the worse ....fish was terrible chips same ....girl unable to understand what 1 fish and 2 portions of chips meant ....we went here again to try as it had been bad the time before, in the hopes that this time it would have improved but no....considering this was dinner time the food should have been fresh and at least edible for the expensive price charged ....If you want good value fish and chips I'd go to a different one as this has gone downhill sadly. Visitors to Swansea go somewhere else there are lots near by

1st time here for a while, like the new partition for the restaurant, but don't like having to wait to be served whilst gent is having a conversation on his ear buds, did not even stop the conversation whilst asking did I want salt & vinegar, as shown in my scores above

Definitely not the best chippy, poor service. Staff forgot to bring items paid for. What was described as a large Cod and chips definitely wasn't.

Food was disgusting...not our first visit but thought we'd give them a second chance....soggy cold chips and some green ones ....they should never be eaten !! Green potatoes should never be used!!....fish was dry overcooked and goodness knows how long it had been there...more skin then fish and what batter there was,on the fish was terrible....this was a dinner time visit so should have been fresh....pies were OK but they're bought in so not down to Rossi's....the original owners would never serve this stuff!! Adding insult to injury the girl....who couldn't understand 2 lots of fish and chips...fish and chips twice or any other way of saying it...overcharged us...after paying well over the odds for this so called meal we found we were overcharged too!!! Even our dogs wouldn't eat the fish or chips and they love their food....enough said!! The original Rossi's was great but these owners need to sort it out......don't waste your money here... drive a little bit further there are better chip shops close by.

Always lovely fresh food but let down by the service from blonde girl on counter with terrible attitude problem. Would sack her before she costs you more business. Our branch uses you every Friday for dinner for all our employees….thanks to Blondie, we won’t be using you anymore. 👍🏻

Waited almost 20 minutes for fish and chips around 4/5 o'clock, chips weren't cooked properly, fish was dry and cold, battered sausage was awful, as if somebody dipped it in the toilet and then gave it to me. Soggy, cold and not cooked. Curry sauce was okay but cold. 7 people behind the counter, all were standing around. Awful.

Wanted some vegan sausage but they said it would take an hour to fry. Why is it even on the menu? Either take it off or put a note that it's not readily available... service wasn't very friendly but chips were nice.

A great visit all round and the only thing stopping a 5 star review is the fact the fish had the skin on and was over cooked, meaning the skin side was so chewy. I’ve just realised now they also forgot my mushy peas. However the bread was lovely and the chips and onion rings were great too. Good service given the busy environment. Clean and tidy place with good parking. Great coffee and dandelion and burdock. Please remove the skin and double check the whole order before sending the food away. Thanks.

I've just bought in store and ask for lots of salt and vinegar on everything and they only did it on the sausages nothing on the chips eventhough he double checked with me? Also some chips are cooked nicely and others aren't even cooked. It's gone down hill won't be getting anymore food from here

Called to this restaurant unexpectedly and we were very pleasantly surprised. We both had the large Cod and Chips with mushy peas, bread and butter and a cup of tea for £12.50. The food arrived quickly, was a good size, portion and hot. Overall it was one of the best fish and chips we have had in a very long time - well done Rossi's

Been a few times now and did not like the chips they were hard 😕 for my taste

Disappointed with dine in for our lunch whic was chips, large battered sausage and curry sauce. The chips were nice. The sausage was in a soft smooth breadlike coating with no crispness like a normal battered sausage...looked like they are maybe supplied like it and then heated up. Very like a corndog in the states -yuk and soggy. The curry sauce was too runny so that affected the taste. Also a very small helping of curry sauce . So overall different to how it used to be and not very enjoyable, especially the sausage.

Went in with a simple order of two chips with curry sauce and was served by a man who was clearly angry from dealing with a customer who had complained before me (that should have been my first red flag). He was sharp with his responses, dismissive, and barely looked at me. He then went to prepare my order only to pour gravy over the chips instead of curry. When I called over and told him I didn't ask for gravy, he snapped back "You asked for gravy!" and told me I'd need to pay again if I wanted curry. I told him I wasn't going to pay again. A colleague asked him what was wrong, he replied "He asked for gravy but changed his mind." and rolled his eyes. Got the order home and both portions are inedible because the chips are undercooked; hard and pale. This feels like too much of a coincidence given his rude response to what was his mistake. This used to be a prime chippy but something's dramatically changed. I don't know if it's a new owner, new staff or what - but what a dreadful experience. I'd take these back but don't want what will be an obvious confrontation.

What a delightful experience. Had lunch alone, large cod and chips, rissole and a large sausage in batter. Washed down with smooth smooth taste of Dr Pepper. Food was sublime. Service...well let's just say TOP NOTCH! Will certainly be calling here again, hopefully next time in more suitable attire, as on this occasion I had to dine in my previous days t-shirt, swim shorts and crocs (due to a washing machine malfunction)

A real bonus for a trip to Swansea City's ground just over the road. Very well organised, clean, large portions including light chips unlike a lot of other places.

Called on on way home but were VERY disappointed with quality Chips ok Ordered a large fish but what we had was quite a scabby bit of fish. Looked like the worst of the cuts. Did not taste very fresh either Would we go back? Probably not.

I think the ownership has changed since the my last visit, which I think was prior to the pandemic. The chips don't seem to taste as nice as they once did. Curry sauce tasted a little bit odd. Think I will stick with Roma in future.

A lovely place to eat and convenient. The customer adviser pointed out the cheapest deal on fish and chips which was great. Customer service is always good as I usually have takeaway..service great and the person who served the food was very polite.

The food has gone downhill since the new owners have taken over. The chips were barely cooked and the fish was tasteless almost felt like recently defrosted. I wouldnt recommend when hicks is 2 minute drive away.

Absolutely no need to turn off gluten free fryer at 19:30 especially when they'd said on the phone earlier in the day it was 8pm. All staff nowhere near busy so to wait until 8pm was no extra work to them at all.

The food was great. However, the hygiene of the table and cutlery were poor. The service provided by the staff was GRUNT. Well that’s all we heard. Mumbling grunts.

Called in for a takeaway the 1st time in ages and it still is well worth a visit. The fish was massive & freshly cooked & the chips freshly cooked were gorgeous. The fish bites freshly cooked were more than a bite absolutely fab. The corned beef pasty with gravy was again fab. Another visit will be on the cards soon.

Awful customer service,awful staff,first and last visit,was denied to sit in at 7.25 because the restaurant closes at 8 for sit in with 35 minutes to spare the said no,proper miserable service and no communication

Rossi's once was the "jewel in the crown" of all chip shops.. First time there for a while today.. must say food abysmal , fish was well dry..must have been sitting in the cabinet since yesterday.. chips tepid and bitty.. went there at 5pm so they should have been ready with all fresh food waiting for the tea time rush.. the price of fish and chips and a curry sauce nearly £12.. I expect good quality food not something that I had to give to my dogs, I now can see why Rossi"s empty nearly every time I drive passed .and after this visit I'll keep on driving passed too.. shocking ...

Food especially chips outstanding and the best chips in the whole world

Chips were paler than Wayne Rooney, and so hard I heard each one drop into my belly. Rossis must have changed hands. This place was the best chippy around. Don’t recognise any of the staff. Will never eat there again. Terrible.

Went to Rossi’s for lunchtime fish and chips last week, and while stood at the counter looking at the menu board a big big man came in from outside fuming about his tray of takeaway chips and whatever saying they were awful, stale and should have been thrown in the bin rather than sold as fit to eat! He was fuming and demanded his money back, he was stood right next to me so I could not help but take a look, and to be honest, they looked terrible! I immediately about turned and thought I’m having none of them, but following me out was the big man counting his returned money! I spoke to him about the food and struck up a conversation about how years ago the original Rossi family were tops for fish and chips anywhere in Swansea, but alas, I remember when they sold up for a £Million pounds and the rest is history, yes it went slowly downhill and we are where we are! There are just no consistently good Chip shops left in Swansea, I’m crying out for a consistently good fish and chip shop but no one is listening! The secret, is no secret, if someone out there will listen…..it’s about buying the best quality potatoes EVERY week of the year, not just buying the cheapest you can lay your hands on!…then we get onto the fish! Do people know that there are all sorts of fish ranging from the absolute cheapest and tasteless they can cover with batter, ranging up to the best and tastiest Icelandic cod that you saviour as you eat!…now then, if you don’t know about your different Cod’s and Haddock’s take a look at “T Quality’s” website, T Quality supply mainly the fish and chip shop trade, look at the various prices and qualities of their goods, then scratch your head and think what I think the majority of chips shops buy from them,…what I’m getting at is, which if any fish and chip shop buys the absolute best for their customers, myself, I scratch my head to think!

Dearest and worst fish and chips I have had for yeas!

Awful service will never go here again. Can't tell you what food was like as we never actually got any. We paid for our order for table service fish and chips at 15.30 sat at our table, 16.05 no sign of any of our food or drinks. Upon asking where our food was... it appeared to have been forgotten so we asked for our money back. This on its own could be excused as genuine mistake on their part but another family of 3 also had a refund for their order after waiting at their table for 45mins. No explanation or apology from staff to either families

The Battered Cod was awful. Dry and tough. Batter was poor too.

They advertise cod's roe when we asked for it they couldn't understand what we were asking for. They were quite ignorant and not helpful. We walked out never to return.

Poor customer service, didn’t understand the menu or what was contained inside them! Part of order was vegan sausage which they placed with the fish after apparently cooking it separately. No idea how to separate food and they’re attitude was very poor!

Absolutely terrible experience the attitude on the staff was awful, made you feel as if you were a nuisance when ordering food, as If they couldn't be bothered, will never go again very poor customer service and they squashed all the chips so by the time we got home the chips were mushed up and stuck to the battered sausage.. avoid they don't deserve anyone's custom with attitude like that.

Overrated and staff made no attempt to help me. I have hearing aids and the excessive amount of noise in the cafe made listening to them difficult. When taking to me they would often turn away so I couldn't even see their faces to lip read that which I did not hear. I cannot recommend them after this visit.

I visited this place after seeing the reviews in google maps Its A complete waste of time and money The food was bad and smelly, my friend and I vomited within in 10 minutes after eating that. The staff are arrogant and were racist towards us. The food here was totally stale, tasteless, and complete waste of money. It smells so bad that I threw it away in dustbin instantly. The dustbins were fuller with food than paper waste. So can understand how bad the food is.. Eww.. never want to visit this again.

Everything was very good indeed ... except for the fish. Rather soggy batter ... and not the absolute best inside. Pity really.

Meagre portion of large chips and large fish, both fish and chips were super oily and soggy. Undercooked chips and greyish and the fish oil tasted off. Dry fish cake but tasted ok. Battered sausage tasted ok but was not crispy , the batter was soggy too. Gravy portion good.

Service is terrible, attitude when ordering something not cooked is awful. Hit and miss if you can order a special, guess it depends on stock and if they can be bothered to heat it up! Batter chewy and rubbery, chips ok but nothing to shout about Been going here for years, but now is time for a change, going to find somewhere that cares about the customers and what's being served.

Poor service, attitude of staff terrible. I dared ask for something off the special board to be cooked, was met with a look of disdain and a shake of the head, third visit in a row where they either didn't have or couldn't be bothered to heat one up. Everytime I have phoned for the vegan option chips im told that the fryer is out of use what's the point in saying they have this option when you can never get them.

Dining area was closed when we visited. Fish pieces were good (huge), good amount of chips/fries, but they were a little undercooked. Gluten free options (GF batter) etc. was great.

Rossi's chips hope is outstanding, especially for gluten free customers, there's not many places you can go and get a large variety of gluten free food's on offer, Rossi's do themselves proud with such a large gf variety on sale, all cooked at a separate cooking area and appliances and fresh, beautiful food, awesome quality, brilliant staff nothing was to much trouble, I would recommend Rossi's to all, we had cod and chips which was a treat for us, it was absolutely beautiful.
