We were promised good fish and chips and we certainly weren't disappointed. F and C were superb and the mushy peas were proper mushy peas.... excellent. Highly recommended

Moved to Yorkshire a while back but couldn't find a decent chippy near us. Until today. When OH happened to come across Y pas on his way home from Tarn and guess what: it is the bizniz. Fresh fish fried in thin n crispy coat of batter, with scraps which I haven't had in years. Not a fan of chips but had a few of theirs and they were pretty damned good. Staff v. pleasant too. Now know where to come next time anybody fancies a chippy tea.

Usually OK.been in today.chips were undercooked white and very cold.not good for over a tenner for 2 chip sarnies and 2 sausages. Won't go again.

Wouldn't go again, fish dried up with being stood,chips mostly dry as if they had been reheated, even the large fish was mainly batter, very disappointed as it went into the bin.!

Disappointed to see the server using her hands to pick up sausages for the lady in front of me and then use her hand to balance my fish when serving me.

I ordered bits of all sorts to feed family (3/4, one said he wasn't bothered about anything) Luckily he did have something has I had over-ordered (I can do this quite easy) good was lovely and fresh will definitely be back. Onion rings was the best I had in a while not frozen ones dropped in fryer like a lot of places do.

So much improvement from my last visit a few months ago.Cod was excellent with a light crispy batter.Portion size was very big and delicious.Chips were okish but open to improvement.All the same will return soon if only for the Cod.

Recommended by friends, thought would call to try. Wasn't disappointed, absolutely delicious. Lovely crispy Batter both top & underside. Staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend & won't be out last visit. Wish was nearer to us, then again we'd probably visit more often than we should!! 🤣🤣🐟🍟x

Easily the best little chippy in Tarn. The fish are always done in the nicest, lightest batter and the chips are absolutely top notch. I wouldn't bother with anywhere else... in fact we live at the other side of Barnsley and will often drive over that way just for Fish & Chips from Y-Pas! And if you go earlier in the week, you might get served by a folk-rock star too!

The service was good, no waiting around food was ok I've had much better I've had much worse price was good, portion size was not very good large chips wasnt much more their then my small portion.

This is my local Chippy it was recommended to me. It is really popular as on a main road in the village. All reasonably priced. Too.

The people are really friendly, amazingly well organised (I don't think I've ever got F & C quite so quickly from order to walking out the door) AND everything, EVERYTHING, was perfectly cooked, NOT greasy and tasted amazing. Thanks you guys that was a great welcome to Yorkshire..!

The best in South Yorkshire. Always busy to show it is well liked, but you never wait more than 5 minutes. If you do go here make sure you phone 15 minutes early to get the Big fish in the fryer. It's definitely worth it and the prices are extremely reasonable.

This is my new favourite chip shop! My local closed temporarily and I was forced to look further afield for my bi-weekly fried fish fix. Unfortunately for my local I now chose to drive past to go to Y-Pas. I particularly like the cod special, the batter lis light and crisp and the fish as I remember it as a kid. The chips are veggie friendly and gluten free too incase that is your thing.

I am so glad that finally my favourite Fish and chips shop is open. The food is so nice, well prepared and the Staff is so nice and friendly. I feel so safe each time I visit as they are making sure that people keeps their distance and only one person at the time inside the shop. Y Pas is so good with their customers, they have put gazebos out side while you are waiting to protect you from the weather and inside the shop there is available antibacterial hand gel. The shop is always spot on clean and the food smell delicious. I recommend to try the fish cakes also. Come and buy you will enjoy a delicious traditional fish and chips Gisela x ( gracias)

Great chippy,wife a little particular about the smell of Yorkshire chip shops, something to do with what they cook the food in,but this place is tasty,golden brown fish,and lovely chunky chips.you won't be disappointed.

This shop serves the best fish fodder in Yorkshire with yorkshire friendly staff and if it wasn't for the owners blase attitude towards customer health and safety I would still spend my money there. Upon being shown a substantial bone from one of his fish cakes he became very dismissive unapologetic and did not seem to show any concern or profer any apology preferring instead to excuse his dodgy product.

If I could give less that 1 ☆, I would. This is 1 of the most expensive fish & chip shops I've known. Tiny portions for your money, sometimes stale chips & batter (hard and chewy) . Below average cooking, ridiculous prices & terrible customer service. "Y-pas" because there are far better chip shops just around the corner.. that's why people pass. Wouldn't recommend! Would recommend the one in mapplewell or redbrook, far better prices, much bigger portions for the money, nicer & friendlier service and much much better cooked food :)

Traditional fish and chips for tea Friday where shall I go. YPAS the only answer. Ordered a lightly battered fish on entering and it was no problem. Very friendly staff and a very clean premises. Fish and chips are always very nice tasty and a good price. Crispy batter and not soggy at all. Very nice chips too. Always got a queue but you are not waiting long. Great little place.
