Been here a few times now. Always people inside by can usually find a table. Beer is good with something new every month.

This is a perfect example of a weatherspoons. We know exactly what to expect and that's exactly what it is. Toilets upstairs a mile away, predictable food, don't touch the carpet.

Had a mixed grill all the meat was burnt, they did put the burnt side down, and chips was cold, but apple crumble was hot and that was lovely

Weatherspoons do have something of a bad reputation in some towns and cities, but this one was lovely. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice staff, great service, in pleasant surroundings. There for around 3 hours at lunchtime.

Will never ever step foot in this weather spoons again food I wouldn’t even give to my dog and manger was very rude to myself and my son

Usually service is good shocking today, waited 30mins after ordering on the app to finally get drinks whilst the staff stood chatting initially before bar getting busy. Visited bar twice in this time to be told they were poured and on their way, arrived 5mins later.

Absolutely useless staff. No organisation. Ordered drinks via that app and still waited 25mins and then had to go up to bar to ask for them. It's the worst one I've been in for service

Waited over an hour for food and wasn't even busy , complained then the manager brought our food out it was cold ,I asked him to change my fork as it was dirty , waited another 5 minutes for that to come out , will not be returning

Went into Wetherspoons starving and I thought they would fulfill my hunger, they did but at what cost. First of all there was no friendly welcome and when I entered I thought it would be packed ( I was wrong , barely anyone). When I sat down we ordered and drinks arrived in no time but the food wasn’t the same , supposedly only a 7 minute wait turned into 27 minutes On the 10 minute mark an employee entered our vicinity and said “ we don’t have peppercorn sauce” ( you need peppercorn sauce for steak) so we agreed to trade it for onion rings. Sadly after my excitement the dishes were served and the plates were looking lovely but the worst was yet to come . After that moment I was excited to dig into my medium rare steak but I was greeted by a burnt , well done steak. The seasoning on it tasted like papa johns pizza you get in a caravan park but I had to eat. Shortly after an employee spotted me curious of what happened and she asked if we wanted it recooked, I had to be polite and said it was fine but it was most certainly not fine. I also noticed the chips were a bit raw and hard. Overall the experience was amateur at best and I was saddened Wetherspoons was such a disappoint.

Based on the number of negative reviews I've seen my expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised. Food was hot and tasty and turned up quick

Terrible. Measly looking burger, tasted burnt on edges and barely cooked in middle, was dry as though it was pre cooked and reheated. You get what you pay for but would have cost less in McDonald's for a better meal. Would not recommend and will not be eating here again. Very disappointing

Really gone downhill. The food and service was rubbish and I won't be going there again.

Foods ok, but good drinks and customer service

What a dump! I had a vindaloor curry, it came FROZEN. My Wife's tikka masala was freeing cold and the nan was like a piece of cardboard. Sent the Back! The kitchen staff must be morons, can even cook food hot! I've heard it's closing, let's hope its true! Spoons in Merthyr you are a disgrace to Merthyr and so are your kitchen Staff!

Great cheap pub, good cask ales, decent food. Super reliable for a meal and a pint, never disappointing. I wish these existed in America. If you go on the curry club day the naga chili chicken tika is actually quite spicy which I was not expecting after being disappointed by the level of spice I had gotten at other establishments in the UK.

The best wetherspoons in the country amazing staff and amazing food

A number of weatherspoons are not clean, this one is filthy, unclean tables, just not very good. The food , well it’s not great, you start regretting ordering whilst your waiting. I’ve been in nice places where back of house is a dump. When front of house is a dump god only knows the rest. Go somewhere else.

It's a wetherspoons, and generally the're all good venues. This is no different. Good central location. Cavernous interior with plenty of places to sit. Usual selection of good beer, not too expensive, and a large menu. Toilets were clean. Service was a little slow, they lost my food order, and in all honesty the food was extremely average. But, if I'm in Merthyr again, I would be happy to meet for a pint here.

As Wetherspoons goes, this is one of the much better ones. Food is good, service is ok, as 2ith any of them it can get noisy and slower at busy times, but that's to be expected. All in all a good place.

"I had an absolutely terrible experience at this Weatherspoons location. I accidentally ordered food to this branch instead of the intended one, I tried ringing them but they were to ignorant to pick up the phone and when I politely asked if I could get a refund or discount, the lady I spoke to was incredibly rude and dismissive. She seemed more interested in rushing us out of the pub than addressing our issue. To top it off, I never received my food, making this visit an overall disappointment. I expected better customer service and communication from Weatherspoons. I won't be returning to this branch. If staff treat their customers like this then it’s understandable why this weatherspoons has such a terrible reputation.wasted my money on nothing. (Manager was very arrogant)

Usual fayre, beer cheap but badly kept. You get what you pay for !

We only popped in for drinks, we had to wait a while to be served, but staff were polite. A member of staff came over to wipe our table, which was impressive 😀

Dirty, terrible service and many food items not available. And the young lad on the bar got the order wrong for wine stating what I was served is the same. We asked for Prosecco he served pink still wine from a pump. Terrible experience

Didn't have custard for my apple crumble desert, tried it with the ice cream option, was vile, who even enjoys crumble with ice cream. Really poor packet stuff, not worth the price. A family members order also changed due to no items in stock. Table was also falling a part too. Puts me off coning here again even as a local. Wouldn't recommend.

Called in on 20/08/2023 to y dic penderyn. Went to place order and was told no gammon, Mrs went to order mixed grill ( no meat ). Tried ordering fish and chips ( no fish ) ! So luckily for them I was really hungry. Another attempt was ham, egg and chips Mrs ordered burger, BINGO . My chips ( all 9 of them ) were cold , the eggs looked like they had been run over by a lorry , couldn't tell where the yoke was ! Tasteless ham ! Mrs burger arrived BBQ with cheese, only no cheese and no sauce just a dry burnt burger. Shocking beyond belief. Only good thing about our visit was a good pint of lager. If you after anywhere near decent food look elsewhere !!!!!

What a filthy dirty dump. Asked a tall skinny man who I was informed was the manager for the table to be cleaned and was totally blanked. If the front of house is dirty and unhygienic what state of cleanliness are the kitchens!! Avoid at all costs

Not good unusually for me. Food was lukewarm and some elements not cooked properly. Peas were overcooked, rewarmed (so not hot) and discoloured and were almost mushy. We both only had a handful of chips. My first choice meal was unavailable and I was told by a fellow patron that this wasn't the first time in a short period of time. On top of this my beer drinking partner couldn't have a pint as it was completely flat owing to a "gas problem" again not for the first time according to a fellow patron. Toilets were also not checked, dirty,paper run out and a number of under age girls keeping warm in a corner. Sorry after being to a number of spoons this wasn't good and will be one to avoid

Nothing fancy, as expected. Staff were welcoming and provided very good service. The food was prepared quickly and it was hot, but mediocre in quality (again, as expected). Kids were welcome, unlike other pubs in town and the menu was available throughout the day. A decent, reliable place to go with a reasonable atmosphere.

Stopped coming here for breakfast as it was always cold or something would be missing from the plate, we decided to try lunch for a change and AGAIN cold food which is a joke when you’re sitting opposite the kitchen. Food over done and obviously left standing. Unless you’re having just drinks avoid this place. Something needs doing we’ve been to many spoons and this is by far the worst I’ve ever eaten at.

Desperately in need of a total refurb, tables extremely sticky and chairs dirty and damp, did have a halloumi wrap and chips which were both good, although wrap very small. Spoons is best known for being cheap and good value for money but people still should have a decent place to sit and eat and this was quite dirty I'm afraid

Orderd halloumi came so burnt I could not eat it I sent it back for a new one the new one came and it was the same one with the bite mark still there

Give us burnt food then when we sent it back they gave us the same piece of food and admitted that they didn't cared

Disappointed that the pancakes, bacon and syrup were cold when delivered to the table. 😒

Rougher than a badgers backside, visited few days ago, even drug dealing was done openly in the toilets. Awful place. Food was terrible. Mostly burnt. Never again

A busy little 'spoons in the main street, service was quick and the food was hot.

I mean, it's a spoons. Nice cheap tasty food that always tastes nice. I got a large breakfast and it looked like it was just slapped on the plate and the bloke sprinted out and handed it over haha. But that's exactly what I wanted so I can't really fault it. Don't expect the ritz but do expect a spoons 👌

Very nice place friendly staff very nice

This visit was spoilt by total lack of customer service. Ordered a food item and was told 25 minutes later it wasn't available. When the member of staff was questioned as to why this wasn't mentioned earlier, he proceeded to say I was being aggressive towards him when I was only asking the question why i wasn't told earlier . When the alternative food came it was great, really enjoyed it, its just a shame this individual and lack of training is spoiling it for this establishment.

Nice place to visit for a couple of hours and a few beers.

Descusting ordered food got told soldout then asked for another got told AGAIN soldout ,ended up with tasteless han with an over cooked egg and just enough chips too make a sandwich, had too clear the table b4 eating, no one came to see if food or anything was OK, NEVER AGAIN

Breakfast was served barely warm and the bacon was like it had just come from the fridge. Maple flavoured syrup was not served with the meal we had to ask for it. No rocket on the mushrooms benedict. All in all this is probably the worst whetherspoons I have ever been in.......

I'm a regular customer here as everytime I go to Caerphilly I come here to eat. Never had any problems with food or staff. If you do encounter an issue the staff go ubove and beyond to make sure its resolved as quickly as possible.

No food coming out the kitchen NO straws and the server jack was giving me dirty attitude derrrrrrr x

After winning £300 on a games machine I cashed out but the machine only paid me around £170-£200 owing myself approx £100 last Saturday. It was reported straight away, my details taken promised it would be dealt with. I have returned every day, asked the same question and had my details taken each time and promised a manager will call me shortly but no, not once have I been called. And the machine in question has had an engineer out to reset it and is now being played daily. It seems like they have no interest in my problem and want me to go away.

Food was very delicious. But the top gun was Christos. He made our dinner like at friends house. Very nice, friendly, charming, funny and perfect person for such a kind of business. You definitely want to come back to this place :)

Tried to use the app to order, said had to order at the bar, so went to the bar and was told they were not taking orders for at least half and hour, we gave visited weatherspoons all over the country and have never encountered this, especially as it wasn't that busy ☹️

I only gave it 1 star because 0 wasn’t available. A recent visit to Dic Penderyn Wetherspoons during a recent Wetherspoon real ale festival. I tasted 3 ales all tasted like vinegar, so I asked for a pint of Guinness. I was told Guinness wasn’t available by a barman of Wetherspoons “We hadn’t had time to change the barrels.”Added to this the disabled toilets smelt of urine and looked unclean.. Customer care was disrespectful! Simply not good enough for the people of Merthyr Tydfil community. I found it appalling I left the premises The customer service standard has fallen definitely.

No Abbot, watered-down Doom Bar, no chips on menu, barmaid was clearly inexperienced but left on her own to deal with the queue, tables in an awful condition and try as I might the only good thing about this pub was the toilets. Never again.

Food was terrible didn't have any chips or pizza available so had to have mash instead of chips and the mash was served cold salad looked like it was cut by a blind person steak was burnt but cold and curry was cold also did get a refund but was still a disappointing meal

Absolutely shocking service in here. We visited on a Saturday LUNCHTIME! And weren't even sat a few minutes before being told they had no chips, and most of the menu was unavailable!! 😡 On a Saturday?!! Staff weren't exactly nice about it either! They didn't even apologize. What the hell is going on?

The food was nice, but there was not much choice (no pizza or chicken meals) and the service was very slow, despite there not being many people in the restaurant.

Usual spoons high standards. First class. Staff very helpful. clean and tidy. I visit many spoons over Uk. Generally most ran very well.

We love Wetheespoons we always use them on our travels. But sorry to say we took our friends there for breakfast on sunday and the service was awful. To be fair there was only one girl waitressing. That is poor managment. The issues started of with the coffee machine not working properly, and once fixed you were limited to just coffee. We all had English breakfast aall were over cooked and somehow cold at the same time. We pmly sent two back as our friends did not want an issue. Two new breakfasts arrived piping hot but again overcooked. Iactually left half of it, something I am not known for. In fact none of our party cleared there plates. We could not wait to get out, as we were leaving we could see other English breakfasts left on tables half eaten. So it was not just us.

Good service for standard Wetherspoons menu offering. Food prepared well and quickly.

07/03/23 We arrived just after 12 pm (midday). Ordered food at the bar, waited over 45 mins. When it arrived the first steak wasn't cooked to required, chips were cold and hard to eat and the second steak were burnt not very edible to eat, my other friend had an all day brunch, as bacon didn't look appetising to eat. I've complained to the person called Bethan, who is the duty manager, stating it's not edible and was offered something different or a refund. Unfortunately I asked for a refund, due to the fact I had to go back to education with my friends. When I sat back at the table with my friends, we overheard that there's 4 members of staff up in the kitchen, and orders weren't adequate to satisfactory of discipline, and a team member to go upstairs to have a word with the kitchen staff...

Busy traditional family cafe. Lovely service nice selection of cakes. Will be back.
