Wyke Down Country Pub & Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

Went for Carvery yesterday, was brilliant. Only thing is parking is limited, but that's not really a fixable issue!

A nice local pub/restaurant worth a visit not to expensive

9 of us just had our Xmas party here Would definitely be back The service .. The food was great infact I would say excellent, Food was hot ,tasty and well presented lovely to have family service of veg .. help yourself .Portions were good from starter to pudding.. so much so we were so full we had trouble Dancing to the Disco ! Well done Wyke Down

Absolutely lovely food We had a Sunday roast from the carvery the food was once again delicious 🤤 never had a bad meal here. The service was again great 👍 can’t wait to return.

Carvery on a Sunday. Certainly better than the other choices around for a Sunday roast.

The best thing of the place is the service. Staff was great and even though we were a large group they didn’t complaint or made it difficult for us. All good in time and great prices. The only thing to be worked is on the meat of the burger. It was too compact. Overall the burger is a 4/5. I would definitely be back to this pub. And was great for the kids. Had garden and park for the kids

The food and the service were very good but the separate room we were in was very cold.

Not very inspiring. Food was Bland. Side order of coleslaw wasn't enough for a mouse. Expensive for what it was. Not for me! Amazing how reviews can mislead.

We recently had our wedding reception at Wyke Down and it was amazing. Large venue with very helpful staff who just wanted to make our day special. Barbecue selection was excellent with vegetarian options and everyone enjoyed the food. Thank you so much for making our wedding day so enjoyable, hassle free and truly a day to remember. Thoroughly recommended ❤️

Lovely and large rustic pub with reasonable prices and friendly staff. The carvery is good on a Sunday and I was pleased to see you could order alternatives also. My only negative is there's no footpath down to the village.

We came for the carvery and it was fantastic! Food was lovely, well priced and they were fantastic with my son! Will 100% be back!

Visited on 14th August 2024 for Sunday lunch. Have to say quality has decreased since my last visit the other month, Roast potatoes and parsnips not fully cooked or roasted, edible but I wouldn’t call these roast. Also noticed that the small plate option has now been limited to just children under 12, intact the WD make this clear with notices everywhere. However, this doesn’t help pensioners who generally like a smaller plate of food. IMO you should bring in some offers for pensioners many of whom are on fixed incomes anyway.

The food was all made from scratch and absolutely delicious 10/10 will definitely visit again

Very nice pub with a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Service is very friendly and the food is very good at very reasonable prices. The Carvery is excellent, the food is of great quality. We loved our lunch here, well worth a visit.

Haven't visited for maybe 15 years and very pleasantly surprised. Very welcoming and nice outdoor area. Dog and toddler friendly. On this occasion was just what we needed

I was disappointed,that there didn't seem to have enough staff on,considering I was there for a wake,so was booked in advance!

Can not thank the staff enough.we had a 60th birthday party sunday lunch. For Linda Groves They allowed us to decorate to make it special. Nothing too much trouble. The calvary was amazing. Thank you so much...... We will be back.

It was ok. It was quite busy so they must be getting something right? The menu was limited and they didn't have much of the listing I saw online (although it was on a third party site) I'm unlikely to visit again.

Honestly, I visit here every couple of months maybe if not more, and the food is always excellent, staff are superb. Never ever had anything less than great food here. Only reason I don't visit more is families treating the pub as a childrens indoor playground. Quite off putting tbf.

Generic cuisine. Nice enough place as a local pub but not so much as a restaurant. Staff are friendly and willing. Probably the Sunday lunch would be a good bet.

I cannot thank the team at Wyke Down enough, for 'saving the day' on Saturday. We were let down by a pub near Pewsey where we had booked tables for our very large family. At very short notice (less than an hour) Wyke Down were able to accommodate 24 of us (15 adults, 5 children and 3 toddlers in highchairs) - we had choice of full menu, which included options for our vegetarians - all meals arrived at same time; all hot; all generous portions; and delicious. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Quiet but lovely place. Needs to be known more cos they're crunchy baguettes are worth the effort

Nice pub food at a reasonable price and good portion sizes. The service was very good all the staff were polite and helpful. Seemed to have strange serving times with the bar closing at 10 pm on a Saturday.

Lovely little pub, conservatory was a bit leaky. Nice to take the dog.

Used to go there a lot years ago Tried it again on Saturday there were five of us and we had an excellent meal that everyone enjoyed

It's been a long time since my previous visit, but I had an enjoyable meal here recently. The fish and chips are great.

Held my 60th birthday bash at the Wyke Down 5th August. So glad that I did. Ben and the team provided excellent service. Food was perfect, bar service was perfect and we had easy access to getting everything ready to have a great evening. Thank you Wyke Down, I would highly recommend you to anyone wanting to hold an event.

Really good pub, games room to play darts and other games like that, big outside area for children to play. 5 stars.

Lovely lunch , but staff need to be more aware of coeliac condition and allergens, and how they can make people seriously ill. Asked about Yorkshire puddings to be told there fine made with flour, really, yes but what type i asked - plain.Think ill give them a miss 😡😡

We had lush Sunday carvery Staff were welcoming and friendly Atmosphere was lovely And then the food was delicious. I had pork and beef that both melted in the mouth There are plenty of vegetables to choose from that were all perfectly cooked We will definitely book again

We’ve had ordered a lamb and steak and when these dishes arrived - lamb wasn’t cooked as I’ve requested and the steak was purchased from such a cheap cut - all chewy so we left it uneaten. No steak knives were served to we had to hack through these meats with some blunt dining knifes. What a disappointment for the high prices we’ve paid! Also the pub was visually ran down but the actual staff working here were extremely lovely. Not sure about the loud pop dance music playing when you’re trying to have food though.

Great customer service, quick service and lovely food. It has a lovely garden which has a children's climbing frame, two plastic globes in which you can stand and smoke in if it's raining and also a large covered decking area. The Wkye Down is family and dog friendly and has a good atmosphere. There is a games room consisting of two pool tables. Myself and family visited Sunday afternoon for a carvery and was pleasantly surprised with all the trimmings they had to offer. Will certainly be returning.

Went here for our work Christmas party. Despite it being busy with lots of people eating, the food was excellent. It was served hot and well cooked, looked good and tasted great. There were 3 or 4 options for mains which we'd chosen beforehand and all of the options arrived at the same time so people weren't waiting for others. The disco afterwards was good. We would definitely go here again for a Christmas party.

Mashed potatoes were a watery puree not what I call mashed potato in my opinion.

My wife booked a meal at this venue, as it advert said it was gluten free. We ordered the roast dinner no Yorkshire pudding or stuffing balls for me. They did have gluten free gravy, as for pudding all they could offer was strawberry ice cream. Very disappointed meal nothing special when it looked so good in their advert. Why advertise gluten free when they can not deliver.

Booked this specifically for our Anniversary lunch as the post on Facebook clearly stated we cater for Gluten and Dairy free. We opted for the carvery, meat and vegetables were lovely but there was no option for gluten free Yorkshire Pudding or stuffing, just gluten free gravy. We were asked if we would like to order dessert, when the board was presented the ONLY option available for gluten free was strawberry ice cream which my husband does not eat. On checking with the kitchen it was confirmed that there were NO gluten free options. So disappointed, don't advertise things if you cannot provide them. I did post to Facebook with these comments but they were promptly removed, seems they only want positive feedback. On this visit I would not recommend.

Auf dem Weg zum Highclere Castle haben wir hier zu Abend gegessen. Die Angestellten waren sehr zuvorkommend und haben mein leeres Handy geladen :) Wir hatten die Lasagne und dem Pulled Beef Burger und waren sehr zufrieden!

Had a family meal here a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely, I had a Sunday carvery and it was beautiful and didn't leave until closing time which was about 17.30.

Food mediocre noisy kids. On the rough side. Loud woman in garden obviously passed and swearing. Perfect for children then. Rough music. All I wanted was a decent meal, good service and reasonable prices in a nice quiet country pub. Went to McDonald's instead.

Took ages for any service. Looks too busy for little staff. For was nice but not as described.

There for a meal with my family last night. Never again. 4 of 5 children's meals delivered to table. After 20 minutes went to ask where the other meal was. It hadn't been put through. Another wait till it came. Over an hour later the 5 adult meals arrived. Previously had good experience there, but won't be going again. The photo is the garlic mayo on the piri piri burger!!!!!

Newly opened (A month ago). Looks nice and clean. That's where the compliments end. Terrible service as they forgot to put one of our orders through, no table check, no-one asked us if we would like another drink (we had to chase the staff down), my peri-peri chicken should have been with garlic mayo (which was a dot in the middle). Toilets were dark and I almost bumped into someone. How much do bulbs cost people? Once the 1 starter had arrived (after 20 mins) it then took 45 mins for the mains to turn up. Menu is very limited unless you want a burger. And the prices are insane for the quality of service. All in all not a good experience. I will not return for a meal here.

Was there to celebrate my sister's birthday along with family. Staff are very welcoming, polite and attentive. I've not had such a tasty steak for a long time, cooked to perfection. Thank you all for making us feel so welcome, Tracey & Roch elle *****
