We visited today for coffee and to purchase an artificial xmas tree. We chose scones and coffee, one cheese and one fruit. Both of these were virtually inedible, the cheese had no flavour whatsoever, both that and my fruit scone were dry and extremely dense, neither tasted either nice or fresh and we were unable to finish. My black coffee was awful, a distinct undertone of washing up liquid or similar, undrinkable, I had to resort to glasses of water in an attempt to push my scone down. The selection of artificial xmas trees was abysmal, so the whole outing a huge disappointment and one we will not be repeating.

Every time I visit have to queue an age for coffee, why don’t they serve filter which can be dispensed with quickly to save customers standing and waiting an age for what is an horrible quality coffee. The food is overpriced, now I don’t have a problem with it being overpriced if it is good quality but we have experienced is never the best. They could offer table service many elderly do not want to stand for any length of time waiting for drinks service.

Visited Findon Garden centre this morning. Used to be Wyevale, but has been Findon for some time. Went to the restaurant for coffee, and was puzzled by the prices. Cup sizes were small or large, and I thought the small were very small. The prices shown, very clearly on the chalk board, were for the small size, and the large were 45p more, but this was written in very small print at the bottom of the board. I feel that having the prices side by side would be much clearer. Also would like to question why the Americano coffee was more expensive than the Cappuccino and the Latte. I have always found Americano coffees cheaper than the other two. The large coffees were all over £3, which is quite expensive. On a positive note, the restaurant was nice and clean, and the garden centre was nicely laid out.

Took my 2 year old for a visit to the soft play and for lunch. It’s been done up lovely and she was looking forward to playing. However the fact that you can’t order food from the kitchen to eat at the tables around the soft play area baffles me. Surely the reason parents like myself go there is to have lunch knowing little ones can get down and play and it makes it more of a relaxed affair. Instead you have to either eat before and then go in, a rushed process as 2 year old kept wanting to get down and go to play (defeats the point of being there). Or you go in and let them play and twiddle your thumbs waiting until the play time is up and you can go in the restaurant and order your lunch!! It’s such a great place with lovely food, please make it more simpler by taking and bringing orders to parents/carers in the soft play area who just want to order a cup of tea and a bite to eat stress free whilst their kids play!!

We came here this morning and things could definitely be more efficient. Limited staff with people doubling up or tripling to do temp checks on arriving customers, cooking breakfasts and serving. Some staff couldn’t do a frappe and needed others to make one. We were ignored for some time before our order was taken as you have to stay at your table. Prices are not great for what you get. It was ok, but plenty of better places for similar or cheaper prices

HORRENDOUS - the woman at the entrance of the Cafeteria, before we even started to queue advised us the Soft Play is open but you cannot eat with the children at the tables provided outside the soft play are. I am a frequent visitor to what used to be called Wyevale Garden Centre, Due to this horrible Pandemic I have not, like many of us, been able to take my daughter and my grandchildren out for a lovely day to this beautiful garden centre with soft play. The cafeteria was empty, bar some 4 people with a capacity I presume of some 30 covers. Immediately this woman asked did we want the soft play and if so we could not sit at the tables outside the soft play if we wanted to eat. I advised this was not a problem (which we later found out by the Manager was not the truth). The people in front of us in the queue were in number 4 and this women advised we would now have to wait until she decided if we could come in . After some 10 minutes of waiting she finally allowed us to take a seat inside the cafe but not near the soft play. She approached us with a tablet in her hand and ordered that the soft play would be made available some 40 minutes later, bearing in mind there was 1 other child in the soft play and the number allowed is 4. I advised not a problem we will wait. She insisted we could not eat whilst our children were in the soft play we must eat before and reiterated, we could not sit where the table were outside the soft play. We then ordered our food after 10 minutes of sitting and we waited and waited and waited . The temperature in this cafe wasp equal to a Greenhouse, very hot which for my grandson only 22 months and my granddaughter of only 4 weeks old were suffering but amazingly very patient . After some 45 minutes I asked where our food was and we had booked to go into the soft play which again there was only 1 child in there. The waitress aghast apologised and went to see where our order was. Finally after an HOUR the food was delivered and by now by daughter took my grandson into the soft play and could not eat her lunch and nor could I as now I am so angry at what SHOULD HAVE BEEN A VERY PLEASURABLE AFTERNOON WITH LOVELY WEATHER AND LUNCH WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDCHILDREN FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER 6 MONTHS of being in quarantine.

Firstly there is a lot of dedication and work needed to achieve a five star food hygiene rating. It is a pity the award was almost invisible to the side of the front door. It was great to have the atmosphere of a garden centre in such clean modern surroundings and the choice of eating inside or out of doors. We would not normally be prepared to pay £9 or so for breaded scampi and chips that we can easily homecook from supermarket frozen foods. For us, as bus pass owners, it was reasonable to pay about £10 a head for a meal that included the scampi plus dessert and coffee. Unfortunately the continental style option of chorozo chicken was not available. Portions were generous and would fill a hungry stomach! The macoroni cheese was not overcooked and had a pleasant cheese and creamy flavour The Manageress was friendly and helpful when we asked about the food hygiene certficate and apologised for our meal of first choice not being available.

My only criticism would be that please can I have cakes or even bread (for toast) that is gluten/wheat/dairy/soya free. It is so hard when we go out to not find items that he can eat (he can eat the fruit and thats about it). This cafe is also dog friendly and has a seperate area that is dog friendly if you dont want to sit outside.Soft play gets busy in holidays from about 10.30am.

We visited for breakfast, the restaurant was not busy. We ordered two breakfast mine without egg (ALLERGIC) but an extra tomato my husbands without black pudding and an extra sausage. They were written down by a very helpful till operator, When mine arrived there was no egg or sausage and only half a tomato. My husbands order was also wrong no sausage or tomato. We mentioned to the server immediately, she took them back to the kitchen TWICE to be corrected. When we finally received our breakfast beans, mushrooms and bacon were COLD. I went to the till point and asked to speak to the manager. I explained what happened and that I would like a refund which she gave. Her excuse for poor food and incompetent cooking staff on a quiet morning was they had been busy with Santa’s grotto!!! Loud banging was heard from the kitchen and I asked if everything was ok? The manager then said it’s the cook she is ANGRY. Needless to say we will never eat there again. As I was leaving another customer approached me and said “the food is appalling, we would never eat here”.

I took a friend here last week as I knew they did a good lunch. I was a little concerned about the seagull on the opposite table helping itself to some leftovers ( a common problem anywhere) so ... I gathered up the plates and took them inside, out of the way. When our meals were plonked on our table outside, we asked her if we could possibly have some butter. She told us very sternly, they were ON THE COUNTER INSIDE! - we were taken aback. The restaurant was not busy that day and I have never encountered this here ... and I come here alot! I will not be bringing my friends here anymore if she is going to be rude!! I advise her to get some people skills or lead by example... not that the other staff need it as they are always happy, helpful and respectful.

We used to love coming to Findon Wyevale for the soft play area, coffee and cake, and sometimes fish and chip lunch. The service is very slow but that is because they do not employ enough staff. The soft play area is ideal for our 2 year old and 4 year old, but today the place was empty and the temperature must have been over 30 deg. I know it is a heatwave at the moment but it's not unusual for the soft play area and café to be boiling hot even with the doors open, as it's basically situated in a greenhouse. Why they can't install air conditioning is beyond me. It must be awful for the staff to work in those conditions, perhaps that is why there's a high turnover in the café.

We had breakfast here one weekend after staying in the area, both the children and adults enjoyed the food and breakfast menu options. The food was a good portion size and was cooked fresh and was tasty. It’s not the cheapest option for eating out for breakfast but then again it was nice and everyone enjoyed their food. The restaurant was clean and the staff were helpful and accommodating when switching items around on the menu. There is a large restaurant area and the seating area is not squashed and small like some wyevale restaurant, which I nice. There is a soft plan there but you have to pay for that.

I went with my family for an afternoon tea at this garden centre. It was a very hot afternoon so we decided to eat in the outdoor area instead of the restaurant itself as the latter was uncomfortably warm and stuffy. We could not get a table with a parasol so we crammed ourselves into a corner where there was some shade. Having ordered at the counter, our afternoon tea was brought to our table by an unsmiling waitress (perhaps the heat inside was not conducive to being happy), but we had to go and fetch the napkins and cutlery ourselves, which surprised me a little. I was surprised that the napkins looked more like toilet paper than the traditional white ones I am accustomed to using elsewhere - murky brown is not particularly attractive! The tea was hot and my husband actually liked it (he is amazingly fussy about his tea!) and the food was delicious. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the scones were HUGE and there was a very nice selection of cakes to finish off - it was a pity, however, that because we could not sit at a table with a parasol, the sunshine soon enveloped our little corner and melted the chocolate brownies, rendering them too squishy to eat. It was also a pity that a ventilator/extractor fan above our table started pumping out a rather unpleasant aroma towards the end of our afternoon 'treat' which brought our outing to a hasty conclusion. I WOULD go back to this restaurant again as the staff at the counter were friendly and helpful and I think we were probably just unlucky on the day at not being able to be seated at a more comfortable table.

They carry a good range of fairly run of the mill standards, with daily specials boards, and everything I have eaten here has been hot and tasty. It's one draw back for me is the childrens's soft play area that spills it young patrons out into the main restauraurant making it a noisy place to eat if you are not too child orientated. It appears to be a God send to the young mothers of the area.

Went into Wyevale Findon today whilst car was being washed and decided to have lunch in the restaurant. It was busy so I asked how long it would take to get served and was advised 30 mins which I accepted. My till receipt was timed at 1.25pm. The main course finally arrived at 2.35pm after it had been taken to the wrong table first then back to the kitchen then out to us. Food was luke warm but we didn't complain as we were just pleased to finally get something to eat. Then we waited for desert (this is pre-ordered with the main course) and waited. We couldn't find a waitress to remind about desert so at 3.00 pm I spoke to a cook who was wandering round the restaurant and asked for desert. This arrived at 3.05 pm and was so hot from the microwave we couldn't eat it. At 3.15 pm after eating a little of the desert we had to leave to collect our car and go elsewhere. I asked the young lad behind the counter for their complaint procedure but he didn't think there was one but I could go to the cash desks and queue up there and they might be able to help. As we were already running late I didn't bother. So, if you want to wait 1 hour 30 minutes for a decidedly average lunch you know where to go. We won't be going there again.

We shop at the garden centre regularly and they sometimes give a voucher for two main meals for £10 or £12, which is a good saving on the full price. Mains are restricted to two or three choices, usually one meat, one fish and one vegetarian. The fish is usually battered fish, chips and peas but a good staple with generous portions. They have a licence and offer bottled wine plus the usual tea, coffee and soft drinks. A nice touch is a jug of water which is free on the counter - too many places now charge for bottled still water. There is a large play area for young children to keep them amused (and away from us without children!) and offers for the over 60's during the week.

Friendly staff, great breakfast/brunch options, good value. Lovely to be able to get food at a railway station from an independent cafe rather than a big chain :)
