What did I like about the place….Not a lot, staff helpful. Breakfast was nice but extortionate. The disabled room was not fit for purpose. Furniture layout wrong. Crick in neck to watch tv and phone on wall out of reach. Bathroom, handbasin too small no place to put toiletries and no handwashing gel at basin or towels nearby. Room was also located a long way from reception if you are a manual wheelchair user!!! Restaurant food massively overpriced and mediocre…I’d have rather gone to Macdonalds and I don’t like Macdonalds !!!

Following a morning at the spa, we visited The Gravel Pit restaurant for lunch. Very disappointed with the tuna open sandwich. It was one small piece of tasteless bloomer the size of a deck of cards with half a tin of cheap tuna, mayo and chopped peas. Not worth 10.50, even with the side of fries. Avoid!! Rip off!

What a wonderful place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and everyone was happy & helpful. Clarence, the House Keeper, especially, always stopped to ask us how we were & and if we needed anything. He was always happy The grounds were spectacular and the room was very comfortable, although storage was a bit sparse if you were staying for a few days, like us, drawers would have been helpful

We didn't plan to eat here, although we were staying at The Waterfront Hotel (which this restaurant is linked to) but decided we didn't want to drive anymore that day. I had read the reviews and was not expecting anything really good. The restaurant was busy and we expected to wait for our food but it came quite quickly. My husband had the burger and it was fine and my ceaser salad with grilled chicken was OK (the chicken was a little overcooked. Was was rather strange, is that the menu had no prices, only "supplement" prices - obviously a lot of people who book into the hotel must take a DB&B package? I had a glass of wine and my husband a coke and dessert and it came to £45, so wasn't too bad.

Stayed at hotel and ordered dinner. Two beers not available. Two dishes off the menu unavailable. One dish ordered was inedible replacement dish was as bad. Badly run restaurant. Two other tables also made complaints. Manager rather than overseeing restaurant is taking table orders! Menu is restricted and food quality really poor and it is not cheap. Shame as the hotel stay was good, although breakfast choices were limited unless you wanted a cooked breakfast. Staff can't see things e.g no bread left for toast, coffee cups need replenished. Think carefully before staying here

4 of us went for dinner and ordered starters and some Rioja. After 20 minutes nothing had arrived, we called the waitress, she told us they didn’t have the starters to share or the Rioja! She then came back and couldn’t even pronounce the names of the other wines she said were available? Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Bearing in mind this restaurant is quite pricey, her knowledge of the wine and menu was shocking! Ribeye steak at nearly £30 was very fatty too - such a disappointing evenings dining.

Stayed at the hotel and went here for dinner. Lovely location, overlooking the lake. Good decor. But sadly very badly managed restaurant with some lovely staff, but a few who need a LOT more training. Asking for the bill 3 times (it took an hour), it then comes out wrong, and the staff member can’t use the till - that’s not ok at those prices. Not their fault, seemed like lack of training plus their section was far too busy and another section was quiet and staff hanging around bar doing very little. Restaurant (which is also the bar) was also extremely noisy and boisterous! Like walking into a Wetherspoons during the football. Food at dinner was WAY below average for the price - basic and cheap ingredients, not well prepared, awful salad (better quality at Brewers Fayre pub nearby for half price! And 100x better service there). Poor drinks choice, very old fashioned. Food at lunch also really basic and below average. With such a good location, if the food and service improves this will be a lovely place to go!

Just returned to the willow centre at 10pm and it was closed, couldn't even get water, please make sure you stay in the main hotel. I've tried to get a drink from a vending machine and all they have is snacks. Lots of staff but apparently the tills are closed and the computer says no.

Lovely location and recommend for a drink but had two of the most naff sandwiches ever - £9 a sandwich and really poor. Thin bits of cheese thrown onto the bread and thin ham with a scrap of tomato clearly made by a 6 year old. Very disappointing and will not order food here again.

I’m a weekly visitor to the golf club and I’m seriously considering playing elsewhere after this weekends stay. In early July, my other half purchased a Par&Spa package for us and another couple to enjoy for my birthday and this experience has totally ruined it. First of all, days after booking the Par&Spa I was sent email saying that what was advertised wasn’t actually available. I understand why the Spa would be closed due to COVID but I shouldn’t have been given the opportunity to book the package if this was to be cancelled. We were given a refund for what the spa would have cost and ‘booked’ afternoon tea instead. We arrived to a spotless room which was fantastic, thoroughly cleaned and even a cleanliness seal on the door to prove that no one had entered after it had been clean. Later that night, we had dinner and the food was lovely but the service was dreadful. After we asked for our bill, our waiter finished his shift and there was no other waiter around to ask. We had to wait a further 15 minutes until another waiter turned up. After given the bill, all waiters disappeared again so we had to pay at the bar instead. The next morning we arrived for breakfast at 9am with a tee time for golf at 11am. Our order wasn’t taken until 10:15am and our cold food didn’t arrive until 10:45am. We asked a waiter if we could order our food and they told us that she was finishing her shift so she couldn’t take our order. This ended our relaxed stay turning everything into a rush, having to eat, check out and tee off within 15 minutes. As we were leaving, a waiter approached us and had noticed how distressed we were. Shortly after, they offered us a full refund on the breakfast. We returned at 2:30pm to enjoy our afternoon tea and were mistakingly sat down with a party of 11. After we were sat down, we were told that our booking was actually for lunch and not afternoon tea. We were told that the chef didn’t have enough food prepared for us, even though we had booked a month in advance. Therefore, we had to settle for the overpriced lunch menu. Our waiter was extremely rude and unaccommodating with us. Once again, the waiter could see our distress and gave us 50% off the bill. Throughout the whole stay the COVID PPE worn by the staff was inconsistent. They would speak to you within the recommended 2 metre distance and would wear a mask/visor when it suited them. Our experience left us feeling extremely unsatisfied and certain that we would not come back.

We ate here as a group of eight on a Sunday lunchtime for a birthday meal. The place was pretty empty, we spotted only two other tables ordering food. Our drinks order was taken twenty minutes after sitting down. We received our drinks another twenty minutes after this, after asking where they were. By this point we had already ordered our food, and we had to ask three times where this was, the third time to a manager, an hour and a half after we originally sat down. Suddenly the food all appeared - the majority of it stone cold beside one meal and everyone's potatoes. One of our party didn't receive her meal and upon questioning where it was (a sandwich) she was asked which bread she would prefer - it hadn't even been made! The food we did have was average, which wasn't surprising given the limited menu. We left the venue nearly three hours after arriving and only had one course. We were offered a discount and an extra round of drinks, and the serving staff and duty manager were polite and apologetic, but when the bill came we had been charged for drinks we hadn't even had! Unfortunately, this wasn't our first poor experience here as a group, some years ago we experienced a similar thing. This venue is fine for a light bite as a couple if you have a few hours to spare, or an (expensive) drink on a summers day by the water with a lovely view, but I wouldn't recommend it for any special events or group bookings.

Don't book your Christmas meal here I went to mine there last night and it was like being in a senior school canteen - staff continuously walking up and down, 250 people sitting in lines, not the comfortable eating experience you'd expect when you pay £50. Starter- dried up chopped meat (not sure what type) squashed together and served in a tube shape, green slimy stuff over the top, over fried bits of bread I couldn't bite, turkey roast - stuffing solid, compact and powdery tasting, roast potatoes solid in the middle really uncooked, desert was chocolate tart that was not east to cut but I was hungry so ate most of it. Mince pies were ok. The dance floor was so so tiny we were dancing on the floor matting and you'd expect the lighting to lower and dim to create a bit of an atmosphere but it didn't so was dancing in laboratory. Awful please don't ruin your lovely night by booking at this place. I wish I could get my money back and go somewhere else - so sad been looking forward to it for ages. I left and went home

Had lunch with good friend here for the first time. The Resturant is on the golf complex. The views over looking the lakes and golf course are amazing from the dining table. The service was impeccable and the food and menu very good. I had the fish and chips which was delicious and my wife had humus and falafel which liked very much. It’s a elegant setting with a good menu and wine and worth a visit if in the area and definitely worth a shout after a round of golf ..
