Visited here with my wife yesterday, first time we had noticed this little side street which had multiple restaurants down it. We decided to give it a try and was very impressed. After a small wait for a table to become available, we sat down and ordered our food. I liked the fact that the menu included photos for most, if not all of the items on there. After choosing off the menu, it was only a short wait before the food arrived. The plates we had were delicious. I personally tried the Diced Sirloin steak in pepper sauce with rice and cheese, along with a dish of 'Lava' french toast which had salted egg yolk in, both amazing! We will definitely come back to visit next time we are in Birmingham, and can recommend to anyone visiting Chinatown there.

I like the food very much. This was recommended to me by others. It tastes very good. But the service attitude was very poor. The waiter didn't respond to her calls several times and ignored her even if she waved in front of her. Never went there again.

Singapore dishes took us back to eating in Singapore. Loved them. Would happily take my Singaporean mother in law for a taste of home.

It’s called Zuo Ge’s baked pork chop rice, fish-flavored eggplant rice, and golden sand bones. The baked pork chop rice is highly recommended, it tastes like a Hong Kong tea restaurant. Next is the frozen lemon tea and frozen milk tea, especially the cup of frozen lemon tea, which is the best in Birmingham.

I ordered a black pepper beef tenderloin baked rice meal (includes BB chicken wings x4, drinks) which was a bit more expensive, costing £17.5+1.50 frozen drinks. If you don’t want a meal, the black pepper beef fillet baked rice will cost 14.5. But the taste is really good, the other western toasts are delicious. I don’t even remember the added price for this microphone. It seems expensive.

My top go-to place whenever I visit Birmingham. I enjoyed their new mango sago smoothie so much!! So refreshing and tasted absolutely spot on🍹 The clay pot aubergine was nice as well, went quite well with rice🍚 Good portion overall, great value for money.

I've been a loyal customer of Wushuang for a long time, and whenever I crave cha chaan teng or stir-fried dishes, it’s my go-to spot! My absolute favourites are their dry beef ho fun and sliced pork crispy noodles. Sometimes, I switch it up with their baked rice dishes, which are also quite good. If you’re in the mood for fried rice, I highly recommend the salted fish and chicken fried rice; it has an amazing wok hei flavour that’s hard to beat. When it comes to drinks, their iced milk tea and red bean ice are top-notch. They also offer a delightful mango sago pomelo dessert drink, which you don't often find elsewhere. However, I’d suggest skipping the Hainanese chicken rice; it’s not their best dish 😆.

The two afternoon tea meals on the left were skewers, mussels, and company food. Both were delicious. The waiters are all attentive.

Ordered a set meal 5 (£15.5), changed the drink to HK style milk tea (+£1.5), the taste is authentic and the portion size is more than enough, I need to take the remaining 1/3 home and I’m not the only one to do it😂 will definitely try this restaurant again but make sure you have enough cash coz they’re offering 10% discount for next meal if you pay with cash

This has been my go-to restaurant when I’m craving some authentic Cantonese food. The environment is similar to local cafes in Hong Kong (茶餐廳), they even play Cantonese pop music here. Large selection on the menu for both food and drinks, also appreciate that they provide tea sets here.

2024.03: A restaurant located in China Quarter. Although the restaurant is small, it is comfortable to sit in. I like the Satay Beef Crispy Noodles on meal No. 6 better. The noodles are very crispy, so before I leave Birmingham, I will patronize this store for one more beef crispy noodles!

The food is one of the better ones in Chinatown. However, there are few seats, so it is best to arrive after 3 o'clock on weekdays to avoid queuing.

I was throughly impressed with this Chinese restaurant’s food despite my initial impressions expecting it to be mediocre. Under recommendation of my close friend I decided to visit this specific restaurant in the Birmingham Chinese district. Staff can speak both Cantonese and Mandarin which is a good sign. Firstly, I will provide some criticisms on this restaurant despite my 5 star rating. I found it disappointing that the Char Siu (BBQ Pork) was sold out on both occasions I visited. But this can be considered a good sign as it indicates its the best selling dish in the shop. I also found their salt and pepper chips to be somewhat too dry and underwhelming in comparison to their other salt and pepper dishes. But I will overlook this considering how good everything else was. The most impressive dish I will comment on is the Salt and Pepper Tofu! This has the perfect chinese 5 spice ratio, and the soft YET crispy battered tofu which is extremely hard to make and keep together is the best I’ve seen prepared here in the UK. Not many places actually put batter on tofu prior to frying, which is good to see it made this way as it can allow for softer tofu to be deep fried. The secreted juices from vegetables and chilli balance it out very well enhancing the overall flavour ultimately making the salt and pepper dish not dry & well balanced! I highly recommend this dish! Fried Squid, although its a small portion and I’m not a huge fan of seafood, is one of the best tasting and well prepared I have had in the UK! They used calamari to make it so the squid is not chewy at all and is soft with good texture, well battered as well. Excellent starter dish! Salt and Pepper chicken (not on the menu) is very similar to the tofu review above but slightly more dry, not the best but is definitely made well for Midlands standards. The Beef Ho Fun (Rice Noodles) is very tasty with authentic taste but was on the greasy side of the scale. They used a little too much oil when making this dish which could have been balanced with the use of water to reduce the dryness. Regardless, I cannot fault the taste and quantity of beef used. Definitely one of the best available in Birmingham midlands area. Overall, if you want an authentic chinese, this is definitely one of the options you can visit whilst in Birmingham city centre. But of course expect to pay London prices being in the city centre! Its certainly cheaper at a Chinese Takeaway!

Absolutely delicious and authentic Hong Kong food which I haven't had since I was last in HK. It was helped by very friendly service. Will certainly visit again when I'm in Birmingham. Second visit in February 24 was just as good as the last time in August 23. Delicious food and friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend

Best Hong Kong food in Birmingham

Great ‘char can teng’ that definitely brings you back to Hong Kong! The lunch sets are especially worth it for its price and the drinks they give you are massive as well! I would definitely recommend the dry beef ho fun. I also tried the beef brisket curry rice, which was quite good but the brisket could be a bit more tender. The iced lemon tea is also great. Would definitely recommend coming.

Omg what a find ..... The food is stunning and such value for money. Between the two of us we had 3 starters and one main. We had chicken wings to start (they were more like ostrich wings..... Huge), steak skewers and chilli mussels (again huge) then we shared a mutton stew with rice. We were stuffed lol .... Seriously try this place.... The service and food is awesome .

First time visiting and the food was great. Authentic taste of Hong Kong (as authentic as you can get all things considering). For those unaccustomed to the cha chan teng food culture, this is a place to experience it without having to fly to the other side of the world. Friendly service and cosy place to eat. 10/10 would come back again.

The food was sooooooo good and one of the waitresses even helped my little 6 year old cousin learn how to use chopsticks :) everyone was so nice and the food was cheap and phenomenal!!

What a change from the usual Anglo-Chinese rubbish you get in so many places in England. I’ve given up trying to find decent dim sum outside London so when I saw this place, full of Asian people, it was a no brainer to go for something else. This is a Hong Kong cafe where you could be in Hong Kong and even there it would be very good indeed. It is that unique fusion of Cantonese home cooking and the adapted recipes of English food that Hong Kong people eat. The Cantonese versions are mostly better than the English cuisine that inspired them! Everyone in the restaurant was Chinese when I went there with me the only gweilo. Most spoke in Canto with the odd dui, dui, dui also being heard (possibly as a result of the first mouthful of food!). I had the curried beef brisket which also had beef tripe, and this was very very good indeed (best brisket I have ever had and I love this dish). Also had French toast with condensed milk and peanut butter which I have been meaning to have in Hong Kong for a long time. Again, this was incredibly yum. Next time I will go near 230pm so I can also have the afternoon tea offerings (totally authentic HK thing) particularly the fried spam and scrambled egg sandwich. This is deeply authentic Hong Kong food, freshly prepared with great skill and good ingredients and at reasonable prices. It’s prepared with love in my view. The staff here are also super nice. Super super nice. This place is fantastic - best “Chinese” food I have ever had in the UK. Better than most similar places in Hong Kong. 唔該

A great taste of Hong Kong! Food and drinks were delicious across the board. If you like fish and can navigate bones, the Cod with Ginger and Spring Onion Clay Pot was really well done. Sherry, a staff member, was really friendly and helped us navigate the menu. Plenty of choices including meal sets. Also got an “Office” Sandwich togo.

I recommend the Hong Kong style iced milk tea. Why "iced"? Becoz the ice doesn't make of water, instead it uses milk tea. So it will keep tasting rich when the ice is melting. And I witnessed a thefing in the restaurant. 2 young men stole a lady's hand bag. But 2 customers saw that and stopped them immediately. One man escaped with the hand bag and the other one is locked in the restaurant. All waitress, chiefs blocked the door to prevent the theft escape and called the cop. Luckily, few minutes later, the one escaped returned and dropped the hand bag on the front door to try to save his party. Finally, two cop come and made a record of this. And the lady confirmed nothing lost in her hand bag. I am highly appreciate to the staff and the 2 customers in Wu Shuang. Without their help, it will be a sad ending. So at least I think it is relatively safe to dine in there.

Busy on the weekends, sold out of some options, good selection of food and drinks, has the menu and feel of a cafe from Hong Kong

Ordered the Hong Kong style beef chow fun (Beef ho fun). Succulent beef slices stir-fried with soft, springy rice noodles then seasoned with soy sauce, beef chow fun is a classic Cantonese delicacy not to miss! Milk tea was good and authentic as well!

Amazing place with lots of good food and decent service. The crispy squid is mouth-wateringly aromatic and is a true delicacy to be had. The XO noodles and sirloin steak with rice are extremely delicious and what I would 100% recommend!! The hainan chicken rice too is good, but not as good as the former.

Had dinner with relatives at "Wu Shang Cafe" in Birmingham Chinatown, where we enjoyed a variety of Hong Kong-style dishes, including cart noodles車仔麵, stir-fried beef flat rice noodles乾炒牛河, pig intestines豬大腸, sweet and sour pork咕嚕肉, and satay beef with vermicelli pot沙嗲肥牛粉絲煲. For dessert, we had a french toast with condensed milk and a cup of hot milk tea. The Hong Kong-style flavors were very satisfying, and everyone enjoyed the meal. 🥰 We stayed in a hotel near China Town in Birmingham until brunch. As we had an amazing experience last night with some stir-fry dishes, we encored and tried the next day: Curry beef brisket rice vs. Chu Hou beef brisket rice Creamy seafood baked rice vs. Hong Kong-style baked pork chop spaghetti Hong Kong-style local tea restaurants offer a wide range of options, so there's always something that suits your taste. 正宗港式茶餐廳。。。嘅趕客態度。第一次嚟諗住支持下。下晝三點幾，冇乜客，我兩個人拎住一抽二袋，入門口冇人理，見到有空枱咪坐。有個女店員走嚟話我地兩個人唔可以坐四人枱，指我地去返張二人枱。好，我去。我都未坐低(因為仲苦惱緊點安置啲購物袋), 一對男女兩手 fing fing 入嚟，個女店員問佢哋幾多位，佢哋答兩位，個女店員指佢哋坐張四人枱！仲使咩食，即刻走啦！

去完附近公園再次幫襯，野食既水準係絕對ok既，係英國既港式野黎講可能係Top之列。 唯獨價錢又再貴左。但叫2人餐抵食過2個1人餐。叫做好返d。 首先奶茶黎講，仲未係英國飲到香港果種無敵既奶茶。可能茶底唔夠，味都係淡。唔係全茶味，好似有冰溶左水果種淡。呢個真係美中不足。 2人餐叫左西蘭花炒蝦，羊腩煲，生炒骨。 加多個干炒牛河。 西蘭花炒蝦d蝦好爽又大隻，味道唔錯。 生炒骨d骨唔會好似香港咁難咬，算幾好食 羊腩煲終於食到羊腩應該有既蘇味。支竹唔夠軟身差少少，但羊腩搶返分。 最難得係牛河好有鑊氣。呢個真係好少見。 呢個價錢唔算平，2大2小食lunch食左40幾磅，不過，起碼比起其他所謂港式既，係堅飽同埋好食。份量都比預期中好。

We had tickets for the Hippodrome and decided to come back here for a traditional Chinese meal before the show started. As before, great service and lovely food, full of locals with their families. This has become a firm favourite.

This is authentic Hong Kong canteen food. Got the aubergine and minced meat - perfect flavour and texture. The Hong Kong milk tea is also legit, which you can get with a lunch deal for around £15-17. Good value!

Lovely service, I got Set Meal 1, but changed the regular drink to their mango soba🥭 , with an extra £2. They asked if I can use chopsticks😂, or need a fork, thankfully. The food was delicious, she asked if I want chilli oil or not aswell. The beef noodles were great, and it was a big filling portion, I had tasty wings aswell. The mango soba was topped with mango chunks, and I think grapefruit. I will definitely be coming again! Next time I will get something small so I have space for dessert 😋 Lovely atmospheric music playing, it can get very busy lunchtime, there was lots of families with children which is nice to see , even babies are accomodated 😊, the only downside is that it was very cold inside, but that may just be because it was snowing outside😂.

The staff make this place, the place to come, without exception. You want exceptional food, you won’t be disappointed. Trust, relax enjoy, smile.

So so busy when we went but it was Chinese New year weekend tucked away in a side street great food cooked fresh dishes came out when ready so not going cold when all at once. Still had a good choice even though 3 of us are pescaterian. no hanging about, eat then leave

This is a lot of traditional Hong Kong food. Friendly and attentive service ❤️ It's a casual, cafe style restaurant with modern decor. Here’s what we ordered 👇🏻 - Hainanese Chicken rice, Soup and seasonal vegetables 🥦 - Dry beef Ho fun, Garlic spicy wings - Salt and pepper squid The all food is absolutely delicious 😋 for me Hainanese chicken rice is the best 🤩The chicken was not dry and juicy. We ask for more chilli sauce 🔥 love it x Not the cheapest but definitely worth the price😂❤️ Would recommend to everyone

Been here to eat a few times now. Had to queue outside for a good 15 minutes. Confusing menu and misleading prices. Ordered 2 set meal with a drink included, however was made to pay an extra £3 as apparently soft drinks were not included (despite being stated on the menu). Food was average at best and rather greasy. Tables were left uncleaned for 10 minutes, when customers could be seen to a table. Staff were abrupt and absent of manners, apart from one lovely lady in a blue apron. Drinks were slammed in front of me, and when I went to pay, the card machine was pointed away so the price was obscured, I had to ask to see the card machine. I also had to ask for a receipt and it was essentially thrown at me. Will not be visiting again. Please be kinder to your customers.
