🇿🇦🇿🇦 South African food in china town??? 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 Went in here on a whim. Was shown the old menu (Chinese food) but also their new menu. Noticed bunny chow on there…. And turns out their new menu is essentially a better version of Ocean Basket menu!! We had this deliciously seasoned sea food platter, along with their piri piri sauce. The cheesy mussels on there were amazing. Super friendly owner, and turns out she lived in SA for years before emigrating back to UK. Will definitely be back again!

Best Chinese food, hidden nice place that we found on google reviews and came. We visited every month since. Very friendly owners, quick service. This time we visited we saw it was nicely redecorated. Amazing food and deserts.

A small independent restaurant, very cute and good delicious food. Came on occurrence and spotted this hidden gem, seems quite quiet from the outside, but don’t be afraid to eat there.

Easily missed little gem. Very simple family run cafe, with best Chinese seafood in town. Without doubt the best place for Seafood in Chinatown. Freshly cooked in this little family run cafe, with some unique but delicious tastes. We went for the Ocean Platter for two. Everything was just perfect, sea bass, prawns, calamari. We also tried some fluffy potato croquet and fish in cheese sauce. It was so fresh and tasty.. (A advise just having rice with the platters, forgo the chips. Nothing wrong with them, but a chip is chip!) A must visit when in China, with truly friendly and welcoming service. Don't miss out.

We always come here for food when we are in the city. The service is excellent, food is amazing. It’s a very clean and nice little restaurant. A hidden gem. Revisited many times, which speaks volumes.

Honestly don’t judge the book by the cover, small restaurant, the last one from the alley, but truly good, food is delicious, home made taste, family owned, the women is kind and friendly, the cook is the best. Definitely my favourite now, before I used to eat at Peachy Garden, but Tung Lok is much better.

To tell the truth, I haven't really liked Chinese food, I've been to many places and I always prefer other types of food. However, this is an excellent place in terms of order, cleanliness, service and seasoning, this would be my favorite place in terms of Chinese restaurants, the lady who served us was super friendly, it complies with all the principles that all places should have Those of us who go, not only love the food, but also captivate with their good service. Without a doubt I will return to this wonderful place. 1. For its food. 2. For their service and kindness when serving our table. 3. For their cleanliness and cleanliness, which leave a lot to say on a personal and business level in your business. Food 5 out of 5 Service 10 out of 5 Atmosphere 5 out of 5. I recommend the place.

No frills, cheap and cheerful. Cantonese style in the main, excellent value tasty food. Don't expect a five star silver service for the money, but the staff are friendly and helpful. Unsurprisingly the triple roast is great, but have had some cracking soups and porridges here too over the years. Think it's cash only, not 100% sure, I usually bring cash to be sure.

No frills meal deal (you get a main dish and drink for £9). The roast pork rice was delicious and drinks include soy drink, yum! Staff was friendly which is a bonus.

A lovely and tranquil little family food court full of delicious Chinese SIU Mei and fancy dishes. The taste is fantastic and the staff are warm and friendly. Love to visit again and again

Simple, unpretentious and satisfying. Some exciting mystery items if you order from the English menu (very interested to know what the spicy water chicken with rice is!) But the special lunch menu is pretty good, and is available at weekends too.

A lovely little place. We visited in a group with one of our party being Chinese, so we left it to her to order everything. The food was superb, the service excellent and the prices very reasonable. Would definitely recommend a visit here. The menu is on the wall and is in English and Chinese so no problem in ordering (if you know what to order!)

I don’t even usually leave reviews but the fact that they doesn’t accept card payment or does delivery causing me to travel in an Uber to collect my food only to get home and see that the egg fried rice was more like soy sauce fried rice and the satay sauce was a container of oil… Their salt and pepper prawns were terrible do not go here it’s dead

Bossman was very friendly and service was spot on despite that they only charge£7.50 for all in one dish and free drink Food was decent but only possible improvement will be the rice they really should use better rice and don't cook it too soft However it was still a pleasant experience!

Can't believe I missed this place! Food tastes the best and the most fresh compared to other Hong Kong restaurants of this street (If you enjoy the other two three HK restaurants you would like here even more) - proper HK restaurant/cafe flavour, but not too salty at all comparably. Very clean tables, even the menu was so clean. There were also Sichuan/Shanghai dishes to choose from including Beijing duck..will try next time. Hidden gem!

We loved our meal here. It's a small authentic Chinese eatery serving very tasty food. The servings are plentiful and comforting. An older couple run this homely establishment and I loved the ambience they have created. A 👍👍👍 for me. Salt and pepper squid was a highlight.

Excellent Hong Kong style food served in here, staff is friendly. Today, the chief recommended the new dish to me, which is Prawn and roast pork with silver pin noodle, something new to me, and it was brilliant.

Good Cantonese dishes like stir fried beef noodles, stir fried vegetables. Will go back to try the Cantonese congee, Xichuen chilli dishes.... Very friendly welcome and hope there would be more choices on drinks, like beer next time.

We found it up a side street in China Town and the offer of £6.95 for lunch and free drink appealed to us. Our choices of pork with rice and duck with rice were quickly served by a very polite waiter, each plate with additional pak choi - a welcome green veg. Although the plates were cold we enjoyed the food. Shi shi (thank you in Chinese).

Really enjoyed our meal from this Hong Kong style cafe. The decor isn't going to win any awards but the food was really tasty and arrived very quickly. The brisket was absolutely delicious, as was all the food!

Been here twice. The first time I had a really tasty well cooked two course meal but second time was very disappointing. It's a busy vibrant Hong Kong style café, which is inexpensive and fun. However, on this occasion the food really did not taste right, and I was charged a lot more than I expected for one plate of food. Didn't order with reference to the menu so I suppose they saw me coming.Don't know what happened to the "meal deal" which another contributor has mentioned. Disappointed really because I would have gone there again.

It is quite rare to find a Chinese restaurant that has a hygiene rating of four or over in Birmingham so I decided to check this out. It is a small eatery with a menu similar to what you get in those restaurants or cafes in Hong Kong. The set menu is good value for money. The food is authentic and good for the price. The service is reasonably quick, consider that there seemed to be only one chef in the kitchen. The toilet was clean but there isn't a baby changing facility so for those who have babies and toddlers, it may be a problem. But for the price, you really cannot complain.

This restaurant serves delicious, authentic food for outstanding value. They do a £6 meal deal with choice of mains, rice and drink, I would recommend the Chinese curry as in my opinion, it's the best in Chinatown. It's tucked away which adds to it's charm and the family who run it are very polite and helpful. I've been several times and never been disappointed.

I go here nearly every week, reminds me of Hong Kong. I highly recommend the crispy pork belly - absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced and good portion sizes.

Basic noodle bar (ie not aiming to be romantic etc) offering excellent value, Quick service, good tasting food. This is a very good noodle bar for value and convenience.

The food was quite cheap and the taste was mind blowing. This place is managed by a Chinese family. You might not like the interior but u would surely love the people who serve, who cook. I would visit this place just due to the taste.
