A cafe with a great view. Decent coffee and excellent loose leaf tea, Really good homemade cakes too. Reasonably priced, what’s not to like.

We were travelling back home and said we would go to Bude, we came across the board outside Wroes which said it was a Sunday roast, and other options, didn’t even know they did food, and dog friendly which is a real bonus. It was my birthday too, so had a Turkey roast with all the trimmings, staff were lovely and we didn’t wait long for our food, it was the best roast we have ever had, everything cooked to perfection, a great place, we will return.

Popped in for a quick Sunday roast based on recommendation and to check it out before a group visit. Counter staff were lovely and helpful, the roast was very good value and delicious, and good value. The downside was that some tables were left uncleaned / wiped for some time even after plates were cleared. it wasn't massively busy and there was no obvious reason for them not to be wiped. I do also agree with a previous comment about dogs, not everyone wants to eat around other peoples' dogs, and not every dog owner is considerate of that. Maybe a separate area would work. Although Bude is very "dog friendly" several places do no allow them inside, or only in certain areas, which seems fair to all.

We would not have known that Wroe's had a tea room if we hadn't asked a local person for a good tea room. We found it upstairs in their well laid out department store. It had a pleasant and relaxed seating area facing out to the sea and we ordered a cream tea from the helpful and friendly staff. This was soon brought to our table with wonderfully textured and fruity scones. The tasty gooseberry jam and fresh cream were freshly served in pots which could be washed and used again. For those who enjoy cakes, there was a quality choice and some were home-made. The tea was excellent and served in a good sized pot that poured easily. All high quality at a reasonable price. And the toilet was spotlessly clean.

Great food, friendly staff, quick service at a very busy lunch time. Nice atmosphere. Thankyou for allowing dogs.

A lovely cafe with a superb view, comfy seats and excellent portions of jam, cream, scones and tea. Staff very helpful and pleasant, and were very attentive when a child near us had an issue.

It's definitely the place for cake in Bude and a sea view, too. The cake selection is vast, and it's difficult to choose. I recommend several visits. There's also a lovely selection of meals, sandwiches, wraps, toasties jackets etc and daily specials. We visited several times and wasn't disappointed. We would highly recommend.

We have used this cafe for years. Today we visited again. My husband ordered a bacon and sausage sandwich. It came on white bread but was quickly replaced with what was supposed to be granary (looked like half white and halfgrain). Bacon was cold and had been microwaved. Slice of cake I had was small but ok. The floor had not been swept from the night before - we were first in the cafe. Standards have slipped!

Nice cafe situated on the 1st floor of Wroes serving yummy cakes, teas and light meals. Covid friendly, with welcoming staff. Plenty of seating and reasonable prices. Great place for a pit stop during shopping.

Situated in the department store the cafe offers a good selection of cakes, scones and soups made on the premises. Coffee is good and Covid restrictions enforced. Note the store's toilets were out of use the last couple of times we visited and it maybe a permanent feature during the pandemic.

Visiting Bude, we just wanted a coffee and found the I store coffee shop. Glad we did, and I couldn't resist the chocolate cake. The cake was amazing, sweet enough but not sickly, the coffee was strong, we left happy!

I didn’t want to break my diet after 19 days on the FAST800 Programme and the lovely staff in the café put together a fabulous prawn, crayfish and smoked salmon salad for me. So grateful. Just love this shop and the staff - so friendly and kind.

Just popped in for a quick coffee. Been there in afternoon but not at 12 noon!! We didn't realize how busy it was going to be. If we hadn't had lunch booked somewhere else I would have had some of your yummy cakes. Coffee and view excellent despite the queue.

A long time frequent customer visting with my desperate to use the loo, 3yr old grandaughter. After asking the server if we could use the facilities, rather snotily told only if your a customer, yes i know this is usual policy but some sympathy to a toddler jumping up and down clearly desperate to go might have been a kind gesture. End result soiled knickers... couldnt make to local public facilities. We are all about supporting our local businesses but unfortunatly in this case much to my hubby's displeasure im not going back. Plenty of other coffee shops in town and for our clothing and household items Barnstaple or Exeter here we come.

Wroes Coffee Shop has got to be one of the best, food is lovely with exceptional cakes and scones. Great staff always make you welcome with a smile and help if required.

To start the food is of good value and lots of choices!! The staff are extremely friendly and nice...with great service Very well managed...always made welcome... We use it often because it’s dog friendly and nothing is too much trouble

The view sells itself but not only that, the food and coffee is great too. Delicious cakes and meals all served with a smile. A must for all shoppers out there and even reluctant shoppers😀

If you're able to get a seat by the window you are able to look out over the sea it's beautiful. The coffee and scones are lovely here so are the staff.

Nice cafe / coffee shop on the first floor of Wroes department store. With views over the canal, beach and coast, it’s an ideal place to sit and relax, especially on a wet day. They do nice meals / snacks as well as yummy homemade cakes. Staff are friendly and welcoming and atmosphere relaxed. Well worth a visit.

I do this review reluctantly, but as I had no response to my email on Wroes website it leaves me to believe that my comments didn't matter.The food was excellent and the service was very good. However, the windows were very grubby and smeared on the inside. The floor under the table and the cills on the windows were dirty with food which could not possibly be just from that morning as we were there around`mid-morning.

Love this cafe you can look out over the beach. The coffee is very nice but you must try the scones they are delicious.

We chose this place to have tea on our first afternoon in Bude as we wanted a view of the sea. The staff were polite and friendly. As it was nearly closing time we were offered two scones for the price of one along with our tea. The scones were delicious and the tea was good and even without the deal we thought it was good value.The next day I had a very nice brunch of smashed beans and peas on ciabatta toast - delicious.

A fairly wide range of food and drink, prepared while you wait by helpful staff in a clean and tidy enviroment with a wonderful view over the area.

Ordered a jacket potato, when it came up, it was an awful grey colour, I refused it and was told it had been in the warmer since 12 noon, why would you sell it to me at 3.30pm. I was offered a prawn salad which I took and it was lovely although a little meagre for. £ 7.50 . Can’t say I’ll rush back, the ocean view was obscured by the misted glass panel that needs replacing,.

One f our favourite places to shop and this time around we went there to have our brunch. Good food, service and the price was right. The views were amazing too. A must when in Bude

My partner and i had 2 wraps that were both great,very fresh taste and full to bursting also had 2 cream teas loads of cream and jam,probably best value going £3.50 each coconut scones,or cheese or plain,or fruit

Came here on a recommendation from a lady in one of the local shops. Hidden away at top of dept store on main high street is the lovely cafe with lovely view. Very reasonable and delicious food....cakes looked amazing. Nice warm and cozy atmosphere and lovely staff.

Good selection of hot and cold food, toasties especially good! Great for breakfast/ lunch or tea-cream tea! Tables and chairs with great ocean view, or comfy sofas. Good for children too.

On a recent trip to Bude, finding a independent department store is always a necessary stop. And the bonus was definitely the Ocean View Coffee Shop! Great coffee, delicious, reasonably priced home made cakes - topped off with views over Summerleaze Beach.

If it is Coffee and Cake you want then this is a must place to visit. The coffee shop is just okay, comfortable and clean but not anything special. The cakes and coffee selection is special

Lovely coffee shop serving light lunches with views across to the beach. Very accommodating for gluten free options and all food served quickly, well presented and good value for money. Definitely recommend for a stop off morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea.

Amazingly views & scrumptious food amazing customer service given by Beth and Debbie, The scones were totally enjoyed so do sell out quick; the only downside of our visit was experiencing how rude some Of the customers were...

It can get busy in here but there is usually somewhere to sit. Amazing view. Great coffee and good selection of cakes and even vegan cake now ! Nice snacks and light lunches. Always the perfect place to pop in with friends or visiting family as you know there will be friendly staff and a high standard of food

Terrible service, had to wait 20 minutes for 2 coffees. Dirty unclean tables. No clean cutlery. Counter staff got order wrong and just shrugged shoulders. Won't be visiting again

If you and on a trip to Bude, call in to Wroes for something to drink and eat. The view from their upstairs cafe is amazing. Food is great and the staff are so friendly

Popped to Bude on a beautiful afternoon for a Wroes cream tea! Surprise surprise at 2.30 they had run out of plain/fruit scones. Was I happy to have one of the 4 cheese scones left for my cream tea I was asked by a apologetic staff member? Come on Wroes, this isn't the first time this has happened. Bude is in prime Summer holiday mode. Bake more scones in the high season! Can't fault Wroes as an amazing local departmental store but once again the Ocean View Coffee Shop is falling short. The Cornish Bakery had my custom & full praise goes to them

Wow.I have never been to Bude before ,but a friend who has a holiday home here took me to coffee as she loves it.We sat on very comfortable sofas.I had an enormous slice of raspberry and lemon cake(the size of this slice of cake many other tea shops would cut in half)My friend had a huge scone and butter.Both half the price many other coffee shops would charge.We didn't need any lunch later.

Always have to visit here when in Bude. Great cakes, only problem is which to choose! Good selection of Teas, Coffee & soft drinks too.

Arrived lunchtime offering a very good selection of food which included jacket potatoes, toasties, paninis, salads, sandwiches, baguettes, childrens menu, cakes and a selection of beverages and soft drinks. The food that my parents and myself ordered was nice and hot and of an excellent quality. The price was excellent and would also be ideal for families needing to be more careful with cost.

Haven't visited Bude for a while but Wroes was just as good this time..... Interesting store, good Coffee shop, great staff. The added interest of the climbing wall outside is still an attraction.

This is the best cafe in Bude but is easily overlooked, as it is hidden inside Bude's (also rather good) department store. The ladies in here remember your special requests and needs, they make the cakes themselves - and cakes such as 'the beast' are to die for! Every type of coffee, Cornish Tea, wraps, salads.... and all with a wonderful view down to Summerleaze Beach. Especially a good place to sit gazing out when it is raining: and also when the surf is particularly high and dashing over the breakwater. I am local to Bude and chose Ocean View every time we are out for coffee and cake!

Great views and good furnishings. Good meeting place. However the food is atrocious. Cakes are large but not fresh and so sweet to a sickening level.

Food is excellent and home cooked, cakes are delicious and value for money is exceptional. Views add to the overall experience.

I have visit this cafe frequently being local. Lovely views if you can get a window table. The food has always been good, especially the scones. Recently there seems to have been a change in the quality of food. Avoid the scrambled eggs as they are not fluffy & creamy as would be expected. They arrive to the table tepid and looking like dry chopped up omelette. Complaining only brings out an identical replacement! Order soup and this is often sold out by 12.30pm - prime lunchtime! The cakes & scones are certainly not up to their usual standard. The staff are always friendly but there seems to have been a disappointing change in the kitchen.

We loved Wroes dept store with all its unusual gifts, clothes, bedding etc. On to coffee shop where we enjoyed coffees with a fab view of the adventure centre next door and young people attempting the climbing wall. Coffee was excellent and I noticed the lunch menu appealing.

As I reviewed a few years ago, this café has a fantastic view and the staff are still very friendly. Not quite sure what has gone wrong with the cakes though, we had what was supposed to be a flapjack and a lemon and raspberry cake, both were really very dry! The flapjack had no buttery, syrupy texture to it at all and was quite hard. This was very disappointing, but we will try again in the future in the hope this was just a 'blip'.

Been here a few times as the food is delicious! So nice and the salad you get with the food is so fresh I will keep coming back. Definitely recommend!

Great little cafe / coffee shop on 1 floor of Wroes department store. Staff were friendly and efficient and food yummy. Portion sizes were generous and prices reasonable. A great place to have a relax during shopping or to shelter from the weather!

If the food , drink and service were not excellent the stunning view from most of the tables out across Bude beach would be cause alone to visit.

We decided to 'risk' this place for a much needed coffee on our first morning in Bude based on a few good TA reviews. The fact that they serve their flat whites in three different sizes was a slight worry, but our chosen small size ones proved to be OK if nothing overly special, which also aptly describes the view which others have mentioned as an attraction?!

The coffee shop at Wroes is a bit of a surprise. The food served is of a very good quality as are the hot drinks. The view is most unexpected, looking out over the adventure centre towards Summerleaze beach. Reasonable value too. The fact that locals frequently used it must say something.

I'm a regular visitor to Wroes Ocean View it have great coffee and the cheese scones are to die for, highly recommended. If you're lucky you can grab a seat with a great views out over the breakwater

On the top floor of a Quality independent department store, great food, great coffee and a good few if you can get a seat near the window. Well worth a visit if you are in Bude.

Smashing first floor cafe with stunning views over the bay. Part of a really nice department store. Smart choice if you're looking for a decent coffee, lovely cakes and all at good prices without feeling you've been caught in a tourist trap.

Couple of visits for afternoon coffee. We've had lunch here with friends on a previous visit and were satisfied with the choice and quality of the food. Can be busy but it got quiet late afternoon. A couple of customers were a tad eccentric which raised eyebrows but the staff are efficient and friendly plus the view is good on a fine day. Wroes is also nice for shopping.

We have visited previously, the place has great views, clean and attracts locals. After an amazing cost path walk out family party of five needed drinks and a rest especially as the drizzle now fell. Easy choice we thought and whilst very happy with the price the drinks were prepared rather haphazardly they were on the warm not hot side when we got theme to the table. Probably should have complained but with the weather getting worse the cafe had got busier and well maybe it was just an off day.

I cant speak highly enough of this amazing café. The staff are polite, helpful and always greet you with a smile. The food is second to none! Locally sourced produce and very proud to promote that fact.

We have been here a number of times. This coffee shop is located upstairs in Bude's only department store (Wroes). The cafe is very pleasant and has a wide selection is cakes, their scones are always very good. Often the specials selection is extremely good and generous too. This is a great stop for lunch with sea views and friendly staff.

Have enjoyed coffee and cake here on previous visits to Bude. Pleased to report that it is maintaining the usual high standard of delicious cakes and a lovely atmosphere in which to enjoy a relaxing chat. Great views out of the panoramic windows complement the experience. Can really recommend the scones, with generous helpings of jam and cream. The only difficulty is whether to go for the 'Cornish' or the 'Devonian' method for enjoying your cream tea!

Usually have soup of the day & cheese scone - both excellent. Great cakes, breakfast rolls, coffee, shortbread, & breakfast brunch dishes. Try the strange but delicious cheesy/hammy/eggy if it's on the menu!

I have been here before and the view is lovely - especially when it is a bit windy outside as its nice to be in the warm. The selection of drinks, cake and snacks is excellent and the staff work hard to serve you. However, it does sometimes take a while because of course all coffees etc. are made especially for you. Worth waiting for it though.

In Wroes Department Store overlooking the sea and a climbing wall. The cafe offers food and snacks with a good range of cakes and the toilets are on the same floor. Good milk shake, scones and shortbread.

Beautiful views over to the sea, light airy restaurant with plenty of room between the tables. Basic but very good food at a very reasonable price, friendly and attentive staff.

I had already had a piece of cake so showing remarkable restraint did not have a piece of the chocolate cake. It looked amazing (as did all of the cakes) and it was huge! Clean, helpful and pleasant staff. Worth a visit!

I discovered this cafe today and I can't recommend it strongly enough. Great coffee, awesome cakes, lovely staff, and a really good view. Less busy than Costa which is just opposite.

Stopped here for a cuppa. A great view (if you are able to get a table near the window)and an amazing cuppa with a Victoria sponge cake.

We always eat here on our annual visit to Bude The lunches are very reasonably priced and there is always something different on the menu as well as standard fayre. The cakes are always wonderful, The staff are always friendly and the views are stunning of the sea.

A pleasant cafe with amazing views across to the canal plus a good view of the Adventure School next door, very interesting to watch the climbing wall.A good selection of cakes and lovely pot of tea.The lemon meringue was delicous and my granddaughter enjoyed it. I had the chocolate cake and Peter had lemon drizzle cake. A very pleasant interlude enjoyed by all.

Although a nice coffee shop in the only department store in Bude, we found this a brilliant place for lunch. Although sometimes busy we could always find a seat and it seems less busy that a lot of the cafes outside, maybe because people thought it was pricey. For what we got I found it good value, for lunch it was around £20 for 2 adults and 2 children. The tuna baguettes and sandwiches much have used the equivalent to a whole tin of tuna and were lovely. It is bright and airy with views over to Summerlease Beach and the staff are friendly and helpful. They do things from poached egg or beans on toast, sandwiches, paninis, to more substantial meals (although we tend towards sandwiches) and a fantastic range of homemade cakes. For a nice lunch out when we are at the beach it is ideal. You can also get a wroes card and earn points on your purchases.

Had two breakfasts here. Staff really friendly attracts visitors and locals. Just did not get chance to try out cakes before we left but all looked delicious. What a little gem.

Wroes Ocean view coffee shop is much more than that - it has an excellent varied menu for lunch and snacks - I had the biggest chees ploughman's lunch that I can remember. Generous portions of 3 cheeses, pickles, salad, warm bagette - and a table with sea views - one of the best meals and views in Bude. Simply much more than a well stocked department store - a jewel in the town. Recommend a visit when in the area

So many tempting cakes to choose from & the cheese scones were warm, delicious!

went for a quick snack they was very busy so took a while to get served .. then took even longer to get your food . also was burnt . but staff where nice just not enough of them . obviously in the kitchen

We visited this Coffee Shop within the Wroes department store whilst on holiday in the area. We had tea and toasted sandwiches which were quite acceptable. We are likely to visit again when next in the area.

This friendly coffee shop is in department store with lovely views over summerleaze beach. They serve freshly baked scones, fruit, plain, cheese even cherry and coconut ! Along with huge choice of fresh cakes and excellent coffee. They also serve very nice light lunch.

Stopped here for lunch. it was in a shop and quality excellent. They had wonderful sandwiches and fresh cakes.

Based in a large department store this is a comfortable place to chill out with snacks and beverages. A climbing wall outside provided interest and the sea views were lovely. Clean toilets and handy parking nearby.

A warm welcome, service with a smile, mouth watering menu and homemade fare this restaurant is a delightful place to visit. The views from the restaurant is wonderful and unencumbered by unsightly mobile phone masts which makes using a smart phone a tad difficult, perhaps the store could add wifi to its excellent range of services for the convenience of its diners to complete the superb offer.
