I booked an afternoon tea for 17 people as a little celebration for my mum’s 70th birthday. I cannot recommend Wrattens and the cafe enough. Wonderful service from Gaynor and her team and a fantastic relaxed atmosphere. The food was very good, lovely sandwiches, cakes, scones and homemade sausage rolls, all great value for money. The shops itself is lovely, with lots of interesting pieces/gift to look through, whilst the cafe is a little hidden gem in Chislehurst High Street. Definitely give it a try!

I visited Wrattens on the 3rd January 2024 at 12 noon I arranged a afternoon tea for my sisters birthday. I pre booked with a staff member a day before called Jay she was very helpful on the phone and provided great customer service also most importantly checking on dietary requirements very detailed was excellent also considering I tried my luck a day before for reservation she managed to speak to her manager and arrange a table for two she was amazing thank you Jay. When we arrived the manager was very friendly, helpful and approachable. When seating us the staff and manger seated us at a good table the service was outstanding. Very clean lots of options of sandwiches cakes and hot and cold drinks. I had the three tier afternoon tea it was delicious every bite and sip was good quality of food really enjoyed my experience I highly recommend and the staff was absolutely phenomenal really friendly and attentive. I definitely will be back to try the breakfast and lunch options. Thank you for your service and making it a momentum :)

I often visit Wrattens on Saturdays for lunch and a catch up with my mum. The staff there are so warm and friendly. I can highly recommend the toasted sandwiches, homemade soups and cakes. This Saturday I had a bowl of broccoli and Stilton ‘soup of the day’ and it was absolutely delicious (the best soup I’ve ever tasted), followed by a warm apple strudel with cream! After lunch we always have a browse through the shop at the stunning dresses and unusual gifts. A gem of a shop in the middle of Chislehurst High Street.

Took my sister for an Afternoon Tea on Thursday lunchtime in October last year. Great selection of teas and happy to accommodate a swap for a coffee too. Sandwiches were, Ham & Tomato, Chicken Tomato Cucumber, Egg and Cress and Tuna and Cucumber. All tasty. Scones were excellent. And the sweets were excellent too especially the Raspberry, Peach and Strawberry Macaroons. The stand out bit of food, however, was the Sausage Rolls with Chorizo, which Gaynor (I believe the owner) proudly told us she had cooked fresh that morning, they were simply superb! With change out of £30 it's geat value too. It's well worth an hour of two of your time when you are in Chislehurst.

A beautiful sunny lunchtime and three of us decided to visit Wrattens. We looked around the beautiful high class gift shop and made several purchases, it would have been rude not too !! The coffee shop inside is lovely but not overly large and the need to social distance means seating is heavily reduced. With that in mind we sat outside at one if the three tables. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and 3 Lattes and our bill was roughly £7-8 each. They also had lighter lunches and hot food. Although they were busy our food was served quickly and was very fresh and delicious. We had such a lovely visit here and will definitely be back again. Thoroughly recommended but would suggest you perhaps call ahead to book a table.

Wonderful and neighbourly cafe in the heart of Chislehurst. Lunches are freshly prepared, their cakes are to die for and the coffee is the best in the high Street. It's a pleasure to support local businesses, the week wouldn't be the same without visiting this friendly and delightful cafe.

I have to say that the food and drink we had was lovely but it was ruined by a member of staff trying to usher us out before we were ready to leave. She said..."they are leaving" in a rude tone, looking and pointing at us while we were still drinking our teas. It made us feel unwelcome.

Came to wrattens to meet a friend who lives in the area. We turned up and only one person in front of us. She sat down and then server carried on pottering and not making eye contact for another 5 mins. When we did get served I was abruptly told to put my mask on - fair enough. We sat down and had a catch up. We had been there about an 1.5 hours. The restaurant was starting to get busy. And she then starting passively aggressively came over and cleared our stuff away then said 'Are you finished? As we are getting busier' as it was a long awaited catch up we ordered another tea. To which this female server shouted to the male server that's OK as long as they leave by.... We enjoyed our drinks and at 12 she abruptly comes over and says we need to leave as she needs the table which was reserved. We look around the restaurant and its now quiet again with several other two seated tables not with reserved signs. I get these are difficult times and that tables need to be made available. But we were paying customers who just wanted to enjoy a catch up over a couple of cups of tea. Be nice in delivering your information to customers rather than be rude. There were no signs or information offered at the outset when we were being served that's all it would take. We wouldn't have left feeling like we were a nuisance I wanted to support and independent business but I won't be coming back.

Having visited here many times now and sitting at home in lockdown, thought I’d give another mention to the lovely food and service that I always receive when eating at this establishment. My final visit pre Covid-19 saw me with a friend and enjoyed a tuna salad with a nice strong English Breakfast tea. Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed this and found it to be very tasty! I have always found staff and Management to be very attentive, accommodating, polite and prompt. Looking forward to returning again when able to and would recommend you do the same.

Go there regularly for morning coffee, always good service, sometimes treat ourselves to a pastry or cake, which are delicious. The lunch menu looks inviting and when we are leaving they are beginning to fill up. The cafe is at the rear of the shop so on way in and out you can browse at the various items, can normally find something different from the usual high street shops to buy.

Very nice local coffee shop, with a gift shop to browse in before or after. Nice and clean with good coffee. Not table service, so order when you arrive and it is brought to your table. You can actually reserve tables which is a good feature. Prices are average for the area. Recommended

This shop is absolutely lovely, I always take my dog in too which most places are snooty about! Love the products, a nice different variation of pretty bits and bobs for the home or gifts for yourself and others, and you always get greeted by a friendly face or three which is nice and welcoming. You just can’t go wrong with Wrattens if you need any gifts or want to treat yourself!

Recently visited here for the first time and had a coffee and cake. Found the experience to be very pleasant. Coffee shop was clean, tidy and you can see that every effort has been made by management to provide a good atmosphere. Service was polite, food served hot and tasty and was reasonably priced. Will certainly be returning back here in next couple of weeks with a friend for lunch and looking forward to it.

Visited for a quick lunch whilst doing house viewings in Chislehurst - thought an hour would be ample time for a quick sandwich. Service was appallingly slow, the staff had seemingly run out of bread as we watched one person have to go to Sainsburys for a new loaf. Tables took a long time to clear. In the end we waited almost 45 minutes for 4 sandwiches and missed our next appointment. Really disappointed as looked so nice from the outside but should be much better prepared for a Saturday lunchtime.

We love Wrattens for a spot of lunch or just tea and cake, which my daughter and I pop in for regularly. It is expensive compared to the chains, but it’s charming and everything is home made, so we usually don’t mindToday we popped in for an after school treat - my mum, me and my two little ones. Mum found her cake to be dry - i agreed with her (it really was stale tasting) and she took it back to swap for something else. The staff were so rude, loudly claiming that it had been baked fresh today, even tasting it in front of her and disagreeing that it was dry, essentially saying my mum was wrong. She eventually got a refund, but it was pretty embarrassing and completely unnecessary. All the other cakes we ordered were lovely - in our opinion one was stale and that really shouldn’t have been made into the big deal that it was.

I much prefer independents to the chains on every high street. Whenever I can, I pop into Wrattens cafe. Always friendly service, and I really like their coffee. Tastes like coffee should (ie of coffee and not milk), and is hot and not luke warm like some places. Gluten free food options, with food a decent price for a good size plate. Usually find something in the gift shop on my way out too. Just don't tell my husband this is where I'm spending all our money ;)

Wrattens until recently had a little antiques market and individual little traders selling their wares in front of a little sandwich bar at the back. It's right next to Costa on the High Street. The shop was refitted and does nice select pieces, clothing and jewellery items and other miscellaneous. We decided to visit one lunch-time just after the new year. The décor has completely changed much more contemporary now and quite bright and airy with an outdoor section at the back. Incidentally, they have a room available upstairs for hire (albeit not yet launched). We ordered the tomato soup, which was done more along the line of a Bistrot, with a little oil and some chunky bread. With two bowls of this and two drinks and one slice of cake it was not the cheapest café in town, but we did enjoy it. If you don't want the same old same old from Costa's and Neros then try this out. The staff are very friendly and we felt it reminded us of some of the alpine cafe's we'd visited on the ski slopes (funny how the mind works).

Visited for brunch on Sunday and the Turkish breakfast feast was absolutely delicious and plentiful for 4 adults and a 3 year old. Highly recommended. While we were there, there was a small film production shoot going on which was wonderful to observe and my daughter was invited to be a part of since it is her area of study. A unique and pleasant place to to visit and have some lovely food. We will definitely be visiting again for a delicious breakfast/lunch.

I love this place and have been coming since it opened but the last few times I’ve been, I’ve had to wait around 15 mins for a takeaway coffee. Staff are getting stressed and flustered, mixing up orders and on two occasions they simply stopped taking orders because they’d got so behind (but didn’t explain this to the waiting customers). I’m sure they are trying their best but it’s awful to see customers walking out. Such a shame as I really want to continue to enjoy coming here, and the coffee is great! I like supporting local businesses and want to see them thrive. Not sure what the problem is - maybe the kitchen is too small to cope with all the food orders or perhaps the staff need dedicated roles eg. One person making all the coffee. Maybe the menu is too diverse for that little kitchen? It would help too if a staff member perhaps explained that there would be a long wait due to it being particularly busy, and then we could decide whether to leave the queue. I’m putting this review on here in the hope that the owners will see it and make some changes. I really hope it improves.
