Great pub with lovely staff and local people, the food is fantastic, well presented and reasonably priced. The Rock & Chips is a particular favourite of mine which most pubs fail to do. Also, the Sunday roast in the Bistro is also great value. The pub is well worth a visit and will not disappoint.

Stopped by at this great lil pub with my girl. Excellent food lovely staff. Will be back again. And here I am with that will be back update had a fabulous Sunday Roast here. Sirloin with all the trimmings was fantastic with a monster Yorkie and a nice selection of veg. The best Nut Roast on the plant was the cry from the Nutty bird so some endorsement and I'd back it as when I tried some I temporarily went insane and thought I'd give up meat. Cauli cheese was good too but we were so stuffed it became our desert. Is this the best Sunday Roast in England dunno! But it's very much up there! Will be back.

Group of 7. Given table in main bar. Pub itself was traditional but a bit scruffy. The staff were very friendly and quite efficient. Food was underwhelming. I had the burger. Not the biggest or best pub burger. Came with an underwhelming amount of fries. Same true for everyone’s meal except the battered haddock. That looked amazing. If visiting have the fish and chips and I think you will have a good experience

Always a reliable destination (Bistro) for a Sunday Roast. Only ever tried the chicken but friends have praised the beef too. Recent visit was particularly good: gravy was amazing and plentiful, everything cooked to perfection, the usual great service. Trying a Friday for fish night next time!

Lovely setting in the bistro.. Great service. Vegan and lamb roast dinners were delicious. Sadly I couldn’t say the same for the vegetarian goat cheese roast option. Very sickly and sloppy. I couldn’t eat it which made the meal expensive for what I had. If you are vegetarian I would advise going for the vegan option and asking for a standard Yorkshire pudding which I really wish I did. Wasn’t asked how was my meal so didn’t get to leave feedback but leaving here so you have the heads up.

As we all do I very much relied on reviews to determine whether I should book a table for Sunday lunch. Although the reviews were good we as a party of 9 found the sunday lunch to be very disapointing and totally over priced for what we received. The food was a plated meal and was luke warm. I think I counted 3 potatoes and a small amount of mixed veg. What made it even worse was that they had run out of lamb and cauliflower cheese. We certainly wont be going back in a hurry. Does anybody know where the nearest Toby is please....?

We were very impressed with our experience at the pub on a Friday around 2:30pm. We were there on Fish Friday and ate the haddock fish and chips, it was delicious. The fish was flaky and the batter was flavourful and crispy. We also had the butternut squash empinada and chimichurri, which was full of flavour. The service was impecible - the servers were very friendly and attentive. The pub has a very historic vibe and was very clean.

Sadly my milestone birthday meal was marred by the lack of service and atmosphere, though the majority of my party of 10 thought the food was very good. The main problem was the delay of more than 40mins in getting the starters on the table, which could so easily have been softened if we'd received an apology, some info on how long to go and someone checking to see if we needed anything. ( It was Sunday lunch, at the end of the session in the Bistro, so not busy by the time we were seated after 20mins wait in pub, and only us there by time meal started after another 20mins. Definitely didn't deserve service charge, but needed to get back to the rest of my party at home at that point. Very disappointing, won't be going back or recommending for larger group.

Spent a really enjoyable Sunday lunch. We booked a table in the Bistro which is cosy and atmospheric. We both had the pork belly which had the best crackling I’ve ever had. The roast potatoes were crispy as was the huge Yorkshire pudding and the veggies and gravy were great too. There is good selection of wines at reasonable prices and we were well looked after by the friendly staff. There are various deals on offer in the week so we will definitely be back to see if they are as good as the Sunday roasts.

Celebrated our anniversary here, first time visit for Sunday roast. Ate in the Bistro, lovely intimate historic building. Service attentive and friendly. I ordered the beef, hubby the pork. Absolutely outstanding. My test of a good roast is the quality of Yorkshire as it’s hard to do well on mass throughout the day. Top marks, soft, chewy centre, crispy top, enormous. Then it’s the roasties - although not at crispy as I would have liked, sweet and worth the calories. Beef was sublime with yellow buttery fat. Husbands pork was pullable and the crackling super salty and crispy. Add that the apple sauce was deliciously thyme flavoured. I’d perhaps have gravy on the side in future as I’m a bit particular about too much sauce. Deserts - STP totally sublime - light as a feather, super toffee heaven with a lovely vanilla pod icecream. We will be back totally loved it ❤️

Last Sunday we went for a roast at the Impy with family. We introduce as many friends and family members to the pub as the food and service is always exceptional. On this particular occasion, one of the chefs had an unforeseen emergency which meant there was a backlog in the kitchen. We just wanted to highlight how amazingly the team all pulled together with the pub and Bistro being fully booked. We were updated throughout and they offered olives and bread for the table whilst waiting. Hats off to the kitchen staff as we can only imagine the pressure to turn out so many meals consecutively with a chef down. In the scheme of things the wait was minimal and everyone was enjoying their drinks and chatting. Believe you me the wait was worth it. The roasts as usual were outstanding. The lovely landlady, Tina, and her team co-ordinated everything seamlessly. Tina took the time to check tables to make sure everyone was happy. It was my brother and nephew's first time to the Imperial Arms. They live all the way out on the Kent coast but they said they would do the long round trip again just to have a famous Impy Roast which speaks volumes :).

Have been once before and it was good so booked it for my 60th and my sons birthday for family and friends . Had preordered as requested about 10 days before . I am vegan and was told that they didn’t have the vegan roast as a member of staff was ill and they had had 15 other vegans so they had run out . I really don’t think so !!! It was the woman’s attitude that got me , I was offered just the vegetables that I was assured was very nice and basically I should be happy with that . At the end I was given a burger which was really not nice . Everyone’s dinner came with gravy on which to be honest people prefer a gravy boat and to put their own on . Some of the food was hot and some cold . So to be honest it spoilt our birthdays to a degree and I wouldn’t be recommending them

We went as a family on 4th feb. It is a very friendly pub with a warm atmosphere. Popular place was very busy with a nice buzz. We were told there was a wait as the chef had an emergency and had to take her partner to hospital. We had some lovely prawns and hummus to tide us over until lunch arrived. Roast dinner: one of the best we had. Excellent vfm, great variety and a decent portion. Beef was cooked perfectly. Same for drinks and desserts. We would like a bit more variety in the desserts but those in the menu will absolutely do the job. Service was good and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. The decor is pluralistic and eclectic, definitely more enjoyable than most pubs. The caveat: at the bistro, there was a lingering frying smell (it is adjacent to the kitchen), which means our hair and clothes smelly slightly. Additionally, the door does not close easily (it is a historic building after all), which means when inconsiderate people walk in/out and don't close it behind them, it is quite cold/drafty.

What a perfect pub...this is without a doubt one of the best, most historic pubs in the area. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we're greeted by a welcoming, attentive team who clearly take incredible pride in running the pub. The decor is unbelievable and the owners have made sure the 1700's historic pub has been kept beautifully. There is a great selection of drinks including a very reasonable wine list and some great real ales. The food is exceptional and way above a "standard" pub offering. The whole menu is fantastic but the burgers really stand out and should definitely be tried when visiting. A huge thanks to Alan and the team for a great visit, here's to many more.

Quite disappointed , food was tepid , parsnips were soggy , huge yorkshire pudding was virtually burnt and the nut roast apart from the goats cheese on top seemed not to have any of the listed ingredients in it ie, mushrooms snd hazelnuts, was mostly like a carrot suede and turnip toast which was not very appetising , I hardly ate any of it , when I told the waitress this she was apologetic but I was suprised it was not taken off the bill . We had a wonderful pre-Christmas Sunday dinner in the bistro today. Absolutely delicious roasts, both meat and vegetarian, and lovely desserts. We were especially impressed with the service here and the effort everyone put in to make sure we had a good time. I asked for a glass of wine that has recently been taken off the wine list and not only did they track down the last bottle for me in the pub they put through my two glasses as house wines which was beyond what I could ever expect! They also happily brought us an extra boat of gravy for the table, and paid some extra attention to our 3 year old son which was also appreciated. We have already booked in again to take our in laws in a few weeks’ time and look forward to trying the regular menu. If the Sunday roasts are anything to go by I’m sure it will be delicious!

The moment I entered at 12.01pm (just as they opened), I was greeted with a warm welcome and encouraged to bring in my family, without a booking. The staff were wonderful, the other guests were great fun and played with our baby. The food was amazing -I had scampi which was made on-site and my husband had the Philly cheesesteak with gravy. We will certainly come again as I hear their Sunday roasts are outstanding!

My mother and I had a wonderful experience at The Imperial Arms last Sunday; the first time either of us had ever been there. From the moment we phoned to reserve a table, the staff treated us very kindly, and the menu really drew us in, with such a high priority placed on where the food comes from, such as the high welfare meats, organic vegetables, great Vegan options and also gluten free gravy and Yorkshire puddings as additional choices, which is very rare to find. There's a lovely courtyard, which made us feel like we were on holiday, and the waitress Amber was so hospitable and sweet, as was Russell, who gave us great advice about the wine. With all of that care and attention, needless to say the food was utterly delicious - the best roast we've had in ages - and we're already planning our next visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed this pub for a Sunday lunch. The best lunch I have had for a long time with excellent service. Old fashioned surroundings which are very quaint. The food was very good quality.

Popped in on a rainy Sunday lunch with our dog during a walk - decided to try the roast - it was delicious and served quickly. The staff and other customers were friendly. Will definitely come back 👍

I've been here a few times but today was the first time by myself as a first outing with my newborn. The staff were wonderful and so very accommodating to help order and pay in the garden rather than me having to leave my baby/buggy in the garden alone or try and navigate through a full café with chairs and tables. Thank you, I really appreciate it.

Just about the friendliest place I’ve been to. A local where whether you’re local or not, by the end of the evening you’ll be an honorary local and have a new favourite pub. The place is run by the funniest, most lovely landlady I’ve met in years. Food is great, high class and interesting. The drinks range is extensive and the staff knowledgable. Location is brilliant. Near the station, easy to get to by car and in a quiet, suburban location. The building is tastefully decorated and they have a wonderful function room that’s incredibly stylish. If you get a chance to visit the garden you’ll be treated to a modern, fun and comfortable location. Perfect for parties, but also perfect for a wonderful evening midweek even when it’s wet and horrid outside. It’s hard to not love the Chelsfield. I’ve never had an evening that I’ve gone away without a huge smile after.
