Our favourite pub bar none. It offers a lovely ambiance thanks to its talented staff, a comfortable cosy environment and really good food and drink. Somewhere you always feel welcome and valued as customers. A real find.

What an absolute gem, as locals we hadn’t visited for many years but after a trawl through reviews decided we wanted to sample the lovely food. We sat in the delightful courtyard and our waitress was attentive and utterly lovely. The food was absolutely delicious, it was hot, decent sized portions and was absolutely gorgeous. We finished every single mouthful, the Philly cheesesteak and gordal fried olives really were the highlights. What a lovely atmosphere, setting, menu and staff. Thank you :)

Food was mediocre, service was awful and I did not feel welcome. They also gave me a drink with flies in it. Then rinsed the glass out and asked “Do you mind if I give you the same glass, I just rinsed it out” Wouldn’t recommend to anyone And an old lady with dark hair I beloved her name is Tina, was adamant on charging me for said drink. We have had a lovely time at the Imperial Arms having a super Sunday roast. Now I have been a vegetarian for 45 years- I hate Sunday roasts BUT this has changed me! I had the Goats Cheese Nut Roast with Yorkshire pudding, veg, gravy - absolutely gorgeous! Horseradish is amazing - home made. We also had a lovely bottle of red wine. The atmosphere is lovely. But the main plus apart from the food is the staff. They work very hard and are super friendly and incredibly efficient. This is a definite go to pub restaurant!

Last Sunday we went for a roast at the Impy with family. We introduce as many friends and family members to the pub as the food and service is always exceptional. On this particular occasion, one of the chefs had an unforeseen emergency which meant there was a backlog in the kitchen. We just wanted to highlight how amazingly the team all pulled together with the pub and Bistro being fully booked. We were updated throughout and they offered olives and bread for the table whilst waiting. Hats off to the kitchen staff as we can only imagine the pressure to turn out so many meals consecutively with a chef down. In the scheme of things the wait was minimal and everyone was enjoying their drinks and chatting. Believe you me the wait was worth it. The roasts as usual were outstanding. The lovely landlady, Tina, and her team co-ordinated everything seamlessly. Tina took the time to check tables to make sure everyone was happy. It was my brother and nephew's first time to the Imperial Arms. They live all the way out on the Kent coast but they said they would do the long round trip again just to have a famous Impy Roast which speaks volumes :).

We were told there was a wait as the chef had an emergency and had to take her partner to hospital. We had some lovely prawns and hummus to tide us over until lunch arrived. By far it was the best roast we have had in any restaurant. All higher welfare meat and homemade yorkys. Finished off with some scrummy sticky toffee puds. Although we had to wait I would not hesitate to return Thankyou to all the staff at the Imperial Arms

Have been once before and it was good so booked it for my 60th and my sons birthday for family and friends . Had preordered as requested about 10 days before . I am vegan and was told that they didn’t have the vegan roast as a member of staff was ill and they had had 15 other vegans so they had run out . I really don’t think so !!! It was the woman’s attitude that got me , I was offered just the vegetables that I was assured was very nice and basically I should be happy with that . At the end I was given a burger which was really not nice . Everyone’s dinner came with gravy on which to be honest people prefer a gravy boat and to put their own on . Some of the food was hot and some cold . So to be honest it spoilt our birthdays to a degree and I wouldn’t be recommending them

Roast dinner: one of the best we had. Excellent vfm, great variety and a decent portion. Beef was cooked perfectly. Same for drinks and desserts. We would like a bit more variety in the desserts but those in the menu will absolutely do the job. Service was good and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. The decor is pluralistic and eclectic, definitely more enjoyable than most pubs. The caveat: at the bistro, there was a lingering frying smell (it is adjacent to the kitchen), which means our hair and clothes smelly slightly. Additionally, the door does not close easily (it is a historic building after all), which means when inconsiderate people walk in/out and don't close it behind them, it is quite cold/drafty.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we're greeted by a welcoming, attentive team who clearly take incredible pride in running the pub. The decor is unbelievable and the owners have made sure the 1700's historic pub has been kept beautifully. There is a great selection of drinks including a very reasonable wine list and some great real ales. The food is exceptional and way above a "standard" pub offering. The whole menu is fantastic but the burgers really stand out and should definitely be tried when visiting. A huge thanks to Alan and the team for a great visit, here's to many more.

Was so looking forward to our couples meal out for Sunday lunch as had been reccomended . On entry lovely cosy eater with warm feel to it, staff all very nice and efficient . I ordered the goats cheese nut roast and was quite disappointed with it, the nut roast seemed not to have any ingredients in it as listed on menu ie mushrooms hazelnuts but seemed to be mostly carrot suede and turnip with hardly any nut content, the huge Yorkshire was over cooked dry and tasted burnt, the parsnips were soggy and not roasted, and the rest was Luke warm. Not one to complain but I did mention this to the waitress. I hardly ate anything and was suprised it was not taken off bill. My husband had beef who said it was very nice but once again same problem with Yorkshire pudding and again tepid not hot . Shame as nice cosy eatery and would have returned

We had a wonderful pre-Christmas Sunday dinner in the bistro today. Absolutely delicious roasts, both meat and vegetarian, and lovely desserts. We were especially impressed with the service here and the effort everyone put in to make sure we had a good time. I asked for a glass of wine that has recently been taken off the wine list and not only did they track down the last bottle for me in the pub they put through my two glasses as house wines which was beyond what I could ever expect! They also happily brought us an extra boat of gravy for the table, and paid some extra attention to our 3 year old son which was also appreciated. We have already booked in again to take our in laws in a few weeks’ time and look forward to trying the regular menu. If the Sunday roasts are anything to go by I’m sure it will be delicious!

My mother and I had a wonderful experience at The Imperial Arms last Sunday; the first time either of us had ever been there. From the moment we phoned to reserve a table, the staff treated us very kindly, and the menu really drew us in, with such a high priority placed on where the food comes from, such as the high welfare meats, organic vegetables, great Vegan options and also gluten free gravy and Yorkshire puddings as additional choices, which is very rare to find. There's a lovely courtyard, which made us feel like we were on holiday, and the waitress Amber was so hospitable and sweet, as was Russell, who gave us great advice about the wine. May 2024 - This was a repeat holiday to Chislehurst and we were not having a good visit - so much so we were not going to return to the town. After a trip to the Caves, we stood outside the Imperial Arms Pub debating to eat lunch there or not. I am so glad we did! Amber greeted us as soon as we walked into the door, and the pub landlord started cracking jokes from behind the bar. My partner and I are huge fans of traditional pubs and this did not disappoint. I had the sampling of the Argentinian Empanadas with Chimichurri sauce and even though the waitress misheard and gave me Pumpkin and Corn instead of Beef, they ended up being my favorite of the lot. The parking lot is small, but we were walking. The beer/cider offering is not the most varied, but I found something to session. The décor is dark, but inviting. We were already sold on the place and decided to come back for dinner, when the waitress asked us if we were in town the next day as it was Fish Day. Literally, they do fish one day a week, when it is fresh! How could we resist? For dinner, my partner had the Burger and I had the Korean BBQ Chicken Sandwich - gone in 10 minutes and I had to wash my hands! It was as flavorful as it was messy. We had the Chocolate Torte for dessert. We returned the next day for a farewell Fish meal. When the waitress set the menu down, I was like, "We are definitely having the fish," to which she replied, "No - there is a whole menu of fresh fish dishes." I perused with my heart set of fish and chips until I hit the last items listed - Griddled Haddock. Now, there was a lot with this description that made me leery, Samphire [never had before] and crisped potatoes sitting in a broth [crispy in liquid :/], but I had trusted the chef to this point, so I went for it. I have eaten in NYC and London and all over the place, but this is one of the best dishes I have ever had. It was so amazing that I asked to see the Chef. Weird - but they had delivered 3 amazing meals, so I wanted to give thanks!. The Chef was not the tall guy in a big white hat that I was picturing, the "She-f" was a lovely lady in a t-shirt, knocking out amazing dishes in a small kitchen. Simply Magic! Was an amazing experience all around and a great value for money. We will definitely be back to Chislehurst for the sole purpose of eating at the Imperial Arms Pub again!

We had great food and the staff were very helpful and patient with us as we chatted amongst friends for a long period. Highly recommend. Parking is a little difficult as there is only a small car park. There is a convenient bus stop nearby.

A lovely pub with outdoor seating in a beautiful little courtyard. Burgers were amazing and very fresh. The veggie chilli was a little disappointing, a little bland for my taste. The big plus is the staff, all very, very polite, helpful and a good sense of humour. It's definitely a place to visit.

Beautiful old pub with lovely food! We sat in the external courtyard surrounded with flowers... And a cute, nosy boxer watching from his garden up above! 😂 Sydney was our wonderful, friendly and vivacious bar/waitress. The perfect blend of attentiveness, information and patience she ran up and down the stairs to the kitchen to check ingredients and availability for our friend and was graciousness itself- deserving of 5 stars already! Our party had-Thai chicken curry (friend had allergies this was g/f & milk free) Old Hill steak burger-"oh wow this is good! I think this is one of the best burgers I've had in a long time!" and the Korean Chicken burger-looks bizarre on arrival but "oh yum! So tasty! Oh the sweet crispy onion topping.... Mmm! I would definitely a) have this again b) return here especially for this!" It was just the right degree of 'a bit different' and with the v tasty variety of flavours and textures ie the Asian slaw. All plates completely cleared-not a regular occurrence! Desert was a sticky toffee pudding: light and not too sweet- our friend had never had it before (due to allergies but it was g/f and Milk free) declared "This is the best desert I've had in a loooong time!" (ice cream was separate due to milk allergy as sharing desert-bit full! Lol) Everyone in, and serving was so helpful & friendly- and v welcoming. Pub at weekends also has a Bistro also open: giving 3 dining options. Limited Parking on a slope. A mobile got left- staff were fantastic, contacting us by email to let us know. A new favourite destination for us! Massive thank you to the Imperial arms team-from front of house to chef... a winning combination!

We had a party of 17 for our daughter's 40th birthday in the Bistro function room. With the need for various dietary requirements this was the venue that offered the most varied menu and we were not disappointed. With our own bar and attentive staff I would highly recommend this venue for a small celebration. Thank you Amber you were a star!

I am usually sceptical about roasts especially if my sister who is not much of an eater has recommended it. I was pleasantly surprised and everything was delicious. The food was well seasoned and the lamb so tender. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for. The staff were ever so kind and generous. If there is one thing I could change, it would be having an option of vegetarian stuffing. Other than that, I am certainly becoming a regular as I am pretty local.

Booked into the Bistro Restaurant. Unfortunately we were placed on the table in the corner between the door and the kitchen swing door. It was very busy and draughty which made it unpleasant. Staff were unsympathetic. Shame as food and service were otherwise good.

The Imperial Arms was recommended to me and I’m glad I travelled 300 miles from Lancashire to eat there. It was worth every mile!

Wow. It's probably the best beef roast I have had out. The meat was so tender and flavourful. It was a delicious. Very good value for money and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Service was very good. If I had 1 little niggle, it was that you feel very on top of the tables next to you.

Lovely welcome from Joan at this historic pub near Chislehurst station. We went for the Korean chicken burger with fries x2. Both were superb, crunchy tender coated chilli with a lovely mild sweet chilli sauce. Golden crunchy fires with a salad garnish. Will certainly return...
