We had booked a Christmas meal for five people, but when we turned up, we were told we should have pre-booked it. However, when I booked it, we were not told about the pre-orderibg requirements, and we found out that other customers had experienced the same problem. They did in the end give one colleague a Christmas lunch as they were cooking it for another table. However, overall, there were parts of that meal that were inedible. The two people that had the scampi were also very disappointed, and all around, the chips were from a packet and poor. We did have a bottle of prosecco and a couple of other drinks but a bill of £200 for the five of us was the final straw. We will not be returning.

We had a group of 15 for christmas… never an easy night. The food was gorgeous. And our server Mia made us feel so at home, was constantly making sure we were okay. Kept us topped up on drinks and was so kind! Couldn’t recommend more and we traveled from the other side of Bromley Thank you Mia and the bistro team!

We love Fish Friday and last visited in November following my throat surgery as it was my dream goal to eat the delicious fish served here when I was being fed by a tube throughout the summer months. We came with friends and all 4 meals were outstanding. The service from Ella was excellent too. She was very kind and attentive and made the evening special. Can't wait to come back for more beer battered haddock. It really is the best I've ever eaten. Thank you for helping me to achieve my goal 🙏 ❤

I used to visit the Imperial Arms frequently, drawn in by the great food and outstanding customer service from Russell and another lady. A few months ago, I went back and noticed a significant decline in the customer service, with Russell nowhere to be seen. I later heard that he no longer works there, which was really disappointing, as he truly lifted the place up. Please come back, Russell!

Sirloin with all the trimmings was fantastic with a monster Yorkie and a nice selection of veg. The best Nut Roast on the plant was the cry from the Nutty bird so some endorsement and I'd back it as when I tried some I temporarily went insane and thought I'd give up meat. Cauli cheese was good too but we were so stuffed it became our desert. Is this the best Sunday Roast in England dunno! But it's very much up there! Will be back.

Group of 7. Given table in main bar. Pub itself was traditional but a bit scruffy. The staff were very friendly and quite efficient. Food was underwhelming. I had the burger. Not the biggest or best pub burger. Came with an underwhelming amount of fries. Same true for everyone’s meal except the battered haddock. That looked amazing. If visiting have the fish and chips and I think you will have a good experience

Lovely setting in the bistro.. Great service. Vegan and lamb roast dinners were delicious. Sadly I couldn’t say the same for the vegetarian goat cheese roast option. Very sickly and sloppy. I couldn’t eat it which made the meal expensive for what I had. If you are vegetarian I would advise going for the vegan option and asking for a standard Yorkshire pudding which I really wish I did. Wasn’t asked how was my meal so didn’t get to leave feedback but leaving here so you have the heads up.

As we all do I very much relied on reviews to determine whether I should book a table for Sunday lunch. Although the reviews were good we as a party of 9 found the sunday lunch to be very disapointing and totally over priced for what we received. The food was a plated meal and was luke warm. I think I counted 3 potatoes and a small amount of mixed veg. What made it even worse was that they had run out of lamb and cauliflower cheese. We certainly wont be going back in a hurry. We were very impressed with our experience at the pub on a Friday around 2:30pm. We were there on Fish Friday and ate the haddock fish and chips, it was delicious. Sadly my milestone birthday meal was marred by the lack of service and atmosphere, though the majority of my party of 10 thought the food was very good. The main problem was the delay of more than 40mins in getting the starters on the table, which could so easily have been softened if we'd received an apology, some info on how long to go and someone checking to see if we needed anything. ( It was Sunday lunch, at the end of the session in the Bistro, so not busy by the time we were seated after 20mins wait in pub, and only us there by time meal started after another 20mins. Definitely didn't deserve service charge, but needed to get back to the rest of my party at home at that point. Very disappointing, won't be going back or recommending for larger group.

Celebrated our anniversary here, first time visit for Sunday roast. Ate in the Bistro, lovely intimate historic building. Service attentive and friendly. I ordered the beef, hubby the pork. Absolutely outstanding. My test of a good roast is the quality of Yorkshire as it’s hard to do well on mass throughout the day. Top marks, soft, chewy centre, crispy top, enormous. Then it’s the roasties - although not at crispy as I would have liked, sweet and worth the calories. Beef was sublime with yellow buttery fat. Husbands pork was pullable and the crackling super salty and crispy. Add that the apple sauce was deliciously thyme flavoured. I’d perhaps have gravy on the side in future as I’m a bit particular about too much sauce. Deserts - STP totally sublime - light as a feather, super toffee heaven with a lovely vanilla pod icecream. We will be back totally loved it ❤️

Last Sunday we went for a roast at the Impy with family. We introduce as many friends and family members to the pub as the food and service is always exceptional. On this particular occasion, one of the chefs had an unforeseen emergency which meant there was a backlog in the kitchen. We just wanted to highlight how amazingly the team all pulled together with the pub and Bistro being fully booked. We were updated throughout and they offered olives and bread for the table whilst waiting. Hats off to the kitchen staff as we can only imagine the pressure to turn out so many meals consecutively with a chef down. In the scheme of things the wait was minimal and everyone was enjoying their drinks and chatting. Believe you me the wait was worth it. The roasts as usual were outstanding. The lovely landlady, Tina, and her team co-ordinated everything seamlessly. Tina took the time to check tables to make sure everyone was happy. It was my brother and nephew's first time to the Imperial Arms. They live all the way out on the Kent coast but they said they would do the long round trip again just to have a famous Impy Roast which speaks volumes :).

I am vegan and was told that they didn’t have the vegan roast as a member of staff was ill and they had had 15 other vegans so they had run out . I really don’t think so !!! It was the woman’s attitude that got me , I was offered just the vegetables that I was assured was very nice and basically I should be happy with that . At the end I was given a burger which was really not nice . Everyone’s dinner came with gravy on which to be honest people prefer a gravy boat and to put their own on . Some of the food was hot and some cold . So to be honest it spoilt our birthdays to a degree and I wouldn’t be recommending them

Roast dinner: one of the best we had. Excellent vfm, great variety and a decent portion. Beef was cooked perfectly. Same for drinks and desserts. We would like a bit more variety in the desserts but those in the menu will absolutely do the job. Service was good and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. The decor is pluralistic and eclectic, definitely more enjoyable than most pubs. The caveat: at the bistro, there was a lingering frying smell (it is adjacent to the kitchen), which means our hair and clothes smelly slightly. Additionally, the door does not close easily (it is a historic building after all), which means when inconsiderate people walk in/out and don't close it behind them, it is quite cold/drafty.

We had a wonderful pre-Christmas Sunday dinner in the bistro today. Absolutely delicious roasts, both meat and vegetarian, and lovely desserts. We were especially impressed with the service here and the effort everyone put in to make sure we had a good time. I asked for a glass of wine that has recently been taken off the wine list and not only did they track down the last bottle for me in the pub they put through my two glasses as house wines which was beyond what I could ever expect! They also happily brought us an extra boat of gravy for the table, and paid some extra attention to our 3 year old son which was also appreciated. We have already booked in again to take our in laws in a few weeks’ time and look forward to trying the regular menu. If the Sunday roasts are anything to go by I’m sure it will be delicious!

We had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends. The staff very helpful. The food was good and we had two vegans who were catered for very well. Good portions and a good selection of wine. Would recommend it.

The imperial arms is the most welcoming pub I’ve ever been in, we ordered the roast and was advised to have the lobster starter, well after all of the Mitchellin star restaurants we’ve dined in this was well up there ! Amazing the flavours were incredible, then the roast, the melt in the mouth beef the crispy roast potatoes and the gravy was the best I’ve ever had! This is a must !! I don’t usually review restaurants but this deserves a review it’s unbelievable the flavours was the best I’ve ever had !! You have to book in advance but it’s so worth it book it now !!! 5star is an understatement!!

The staff were delightfully helpful, made room for us in the Bistro with a last minute booking. I see why they describe their Sunday roast as award winning, crispy potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding, beautiful pink, thick sirloin beef and lovely gravey. We made the mistake of filling up on the artisan bread to start with (again, lovely). Would definitely recommend for a Sunday lunch if you are in the area. We were so full there was no room for desert sadly, will try next time!

Have tried all the best Fish&Chip places Including Rick Stein’s in Padstow, Devon and Poppy’s in and around London but The Imperial Arms on a Friday takes First Prize. Staff and atmosphere second to none.

Should of been told bistro hired out and 6 of us had to sit in pub with loud people and dogs eating our meal. Waited over a hour for starters when main meal eventually arrived was good but experience of night not good wouldn't go back.

Firstly I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff Amber and Sydney, and Sarah so welcoming, a traditional pub which are few and far between these days, I had heard from a neighbour that the roasts are the best around but I’m very hard to to please usually ! I have dined in the finest restaurants in London, and I have to say the roast beef is the best I’ve ever had, home made horse radish and the potatoes were delicious I can’t think of a place I’ve ever had better ! I feel so strongly that this place is well worth a visit that I had to get on here and shout about it, so friendly and unbeatable food ! A must !

We tried this pub today for the first time and wow what can I say food was great! The waiter had saved some dishes for the last tables booked which was a lovely touch. Lamb was cooked to perfection, vegetables were cooked as they should be and gravy was very flavourful. We finished strong with some great desserts. Sticky toffee pudding comes highly recommended and the cheesecake was apparently better than I make at home (cheeky!). We really enjoyed the food and the service is exemplary. We will return very soon.

My boyfriend and I came for a roast and it was honestly amazing! Everything tasted so fresh & high quality. Russel was our waiter and he had a beef roast & cauliflower cheese reserved “just incase” and thank god he did.. it was the best. All of the staff are so friendly - we cannot wait to go back. Thank you!

Sadly always come here. Today we ordered food and drinks. Went to pay but appears the card machines are down. Whilst my mother was drinking her hot chocolate they removed it from her and took my nephews food away from him. Claimed it was her credit card that wasnt working yet we tried 3 different cards all which have money on We would have gone to get cash out but instead left as they were exceptionally rude. It wasnt our fault there machines suddenly were not working. But werr made to feel like it was. Will not be returning. No need for such rude behaviour.

5* all round! My friends and I chose The Chelsfield for it's reviews and photos. Although the pub is close to the station (and not far from Orpington station) it is much much nicer than a classic station pub. It is beautifully decorated, with a cosy fire and in a great location, off the main road with good parking and the service was great, with friendly staff. And now to the most important aspect - the food. For context, we are 3 very fussy middle aged women from central London with high expectations.... and we were blown away! All 3 of us described our meals as sensational and better than any restaurant food that we had had in London. We even asked to meet the chef and thank her. Two of us had the lamb rump and the other the salmon and noodles with some vegetable sides and can thoroughly recommend!
