Disgusting slimy chips, horrible batter that stuck to the paper, awful shop that needs redecorating and organisation. Don't waste your money here

I went to the shop this evening and I am a regular customer.The young blonde lady greeted with me you here for a delivery.She made a generalisation that I was a just eat delivery driver .she has done this a few times to me .I find this very wrong and and insulting that due to my ethnicity i am a working for just eat .I called in to complain and asked to speak to the Owner .She said it was her...I know this to be untrue as i know the owners .So she is pretending to be the owner will be taking this complaint further and making sure that this racist business does not have my custom no longer .really disappointed.I do hope the owners will read this and reprimand this lady .

Absolutely awful food honestly the worst fish and chips i have ever had. Chips had been reheated but badly. Fish was very overcooked despite being covered in slimy batter. The fish was stuck to the wrapping paper and had to be scraped off due to the disgusting batter which was bright yellow.. The fish portion was a medium but actually quite small. It really was not edible and went into the bin not eaten

Due to closure of a nearby Fish & Chip shop I decided to try to get a takeaway from this place. Service was a bit lacking, probably due to a new girl helping. However the 2 lots of fish & chips that I bought, were not only dearer than the other shop, BUT were the worst ones I have ever had, by far.

This is the second time in 4 years thought might have improved but sadly no the fish was dry and tasted old probably from dinner left over the chips were not much better bring bk the couple who used to run it won't be going there again il use Mr chippy by west Worthing stn 👍👍👍

We have used worthing fisheries on numerous occasions with no issue. However we ordered a delivery from here at 5.15 via Just Eat - initial delivery time 6.20-6.40 - no problem. Estimated delivery kept being pushed back. Eventually at 7.15 we spoke directly to Worthing fisheries to get a realistic eta for our food and were told courier might collect at 7.45. We were told if we weren’t happy we should cancel our order - then we were told that it was a just eat issue and they had no control - I’m sorry but if you use a delivery service then it is your issue as bad service affects your business. I understand issues arise but it is the way they are dealt with that determines whether or not we go back and use someone’s services again. I’m sorry to say that we won’t be using worthing fisheries again.

Preordered 6 meals (adults and children) over the phone. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Massive bonus is that the chips and fish are gluten free. Portions insanely generous. Thanks!

Bad food, terrible customer service, have been a customer for years, unfortunately this eatery has gone massively downhill and the food is sub standard.

The last 3 times have not been up to its usual standard. Which is a shame as there fish and chips are usually great

Literally horrendous, inedible and had to go in the bin. I think it’s put me off fish and chips for life. It’s a shame as it used to be good. The oil was pouring off the fish, the chips were like a pile of mash (tried to save in the air fryer to no avail)

2nd time ordering online and having delivered excellent the huss is amazing delivery time excellent best fish and chips ive had in a while would not hesitate to reccomend

I Have owned three fish and chip shops between Rustington and Goring in the past 25 years. So I think I know what I am talking about. We are now retired. As you can imagine we don't eat fish and chips very often. This shop is by far the best in worthing. The portion size and value for money is second to none. We will be back.

Been going here for almost 40 years, last two owners I can remember for last 25 years or so were amazing. Was always fresh, pretty much cooked to order which is why it was always busy. I have not been for a little while but from the faces and quality of the food I guess it has been sold. New owners certainly not as good a fryer as previous owners. Food is part cooked put in top box and thrown into the oil to ‘refresh’ when ordered. Guessing the oils are not changed as regularly either from the quality. Maybe the owner will read this and take in the spirit intended and not cut corners in future. Shame as was the best around for many years.

After trying a number of places we have for some time settled on Worthing Fisheries as the best for quality and value. Often telephone our order in which is always taken with friendliness and efficiency. There appears to be a new owner who has thankfully maintained the previous excellent staff and the quality of the food. There can be no greater testimony than customers are prepared to queue outside even in the most inclement weather. Throughly recommend.

The food is lush and great prices and the service is amazing to. This chip did what we wanted unlike the rubbish in littlehampton. But this place is epic and we will be back! 5 stars all day long 🙌🏻

Worthing Fisheries is always our first choice for take-away. They give generous portions & vegan options (sausages, nuggets, burgers etc). I'd love if they were able to offer a vegan fish alternative but the battered sausages are great nonetheless! The girls in there are also chatty & lovely, and service is always prompt even in busy times.

Went at lunch time , staff miserable, chips soggy and the batter was orange in colour, didn't taste very nice. I Would not recommend this chip shop to others

my family and I have been using this chip shop for about 3 years now. the food is always delicious and you get plenty of chips. The staff is extremely friendly and hardworking always having a smile on their face despite the queue being quite long. Thoroughly recommended, lovely food and very reasonable prices and definitely worth queueing for.

Very good fish and chips and a great senior portion. Good selection and current Covid restrictions are observed. Parking is a bit difficult.

Save your time and money and go elsewhere! The food here is absolutely horrendous, even the dog turned her nose up at the chips! The fish is dripping with fat and extremely soggy, the chips are undercooked (raw) no amount of ketchup, salt or vinegar will save them! Any food that leaves a fatty greasy film on your tongue should not be eaten!Staff are beyond rude and really shouldn’t be in a public facing job!

Food dried out and inedible. Asked for fresh and was told to F..K Off and told I must have Bi Polar if I thought the food was stale. The woman was quite disgusting and the man who was coooking also joined in with the abuse. I see on Google reviews multiple peolpe report having been sworn at and I urge locals to boycot this place until the owner returns from Portugal and sacks the pair she left to run here business into the ground

A friend and I stopped here for a bite to eat. It was fantastic. Battered sausage and chips. Loads of chips which were very nice and the battered sausage too. Lots of vinegar added on request! The lady that served us was very pleasant. We enjoyed our meal and will return.

Our delivery turned up but they hadn’t sent the chips or the cans of drinks that we ordered. We phoned to say they would be sent out straight away. 30 minutes later (considering the takeaway itself only took 15 minutes to arrive) it still wasn’t here so I phoned up to be spoken to very rudely by a young girl who said their main priority was face to face customers which I find bizarre considering we are going through a pandemic. I said our food has been on the side for 30 minutes to her reply was “there’s no reason for you not to start your food and eat your chips when they arrive”. The rest of the delivery arrived whilst I was still on the phone and informed them they had forgotten the drinks we had ordered and her reply was “we aren’t sending our delivery boy out for a 3rd time so oh well” and put the phone down. The food was therefore cold and we found the fish to be very greasy

just wanted to let people know about the way I have just been treated at Worthing Fisheries in. I have been going there for years and always had great service. Last night we had an awful takeout. Fish was grey, onion rings soggy, chicken pie was rock hard. I just phoned today to let the manager know we were not that happy, I didnt want any money or anything and he told me to f***off and not to go back there. I was so so shocked someone could behave in such an unprofessional manner. I certainly would not go back there again and advise others not to either.

This amazing chip shop now delivers. The fish and chips are delicious and you don't have to wait long. They are reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. At this moment in time with lockdown I say 'thanks for feeding us' 😊

Lovely food. We had a vegan burger, battered cod, beef and onion pie, battered sausage and a beef burger all with chips which were all nice. There also offer vegan quorn sausages and quorn nuggets.

My god I love a chip and this is the place to go!! After moving here two years ago we do occasionally treat ourselves and this so far has been the best we’ve had. My partner never liked fish but felt daring with trying his first here!! And he loved it!! 10/10 so far so good !

Our family has driven the extra distance to this fish & chip shop for over a decade now - their white fish is deliciously cooked in the perfect batter and their chips are spot on. My wife often has the scampi which is also very good. A very friendly family business and it's always worth queuing for a few minutes..... its popularity speaks volumes.

My family have been customers since i was very young, always good, customer service amazing and fast too. Great portions and good value.

I had a Seniors Cod and Chips here and when I got home the chips were cold and the Cod tasted overcooked with chewy flesh and very crispy batter. I must admit that I liked the batter so maybe I'll ask for a bag of scraps next time. I think that maybe the fish had been cooked a while ago.If you go here on a Friday there is always a long queue and wait which is worth it as the food is always good then. Maybe they operate better under pressure so I'll bear that in mind in future. Would still go again.

I have been going to this Fish & Chip shop for several years now, always good food from here. Very friendly people who run it. The amount of people queuing out of the door sometimes shows how good this place is!

Grabbed fish n chips for me and the kids the other night and thought I'd go here. Now for clarity I don't go here because the qs are normally out the door (which is a good sign) I just hate waiting that's all.Drove past and saw a few people inside and dived in. Friendly staff super efficient.I got the seafood basket which I highly reccomemd my daughter got nuggets and chips and my son got the fish cake kids meal.Everything was very nice and tasted fresh. The chip portions are big. We wasted more than we could eat (this is a first world problem)Looking forward to the seafood basket again.

been using worthing fisheries on George 5 avenue for many years and think these guys do a great job. excellent and friendly service with a smile , super product . well done we will be coming back often

We always had lovely fish and chips from Worthing Fisheries. Last Sunday we had cod and chips and it was truly awful, the batter was hard and greasy, the fish was dry and the chips were more like steamed than fried. There were different people serving and I wonder if it has changed hands or new management. I’m not happy to try again I’m afraid and it was money wasted because we hardly ate any of it.

Great Huss / rock salmon and chips with seating outside. More food than I could eat a a very reasonable price. Local parking is reasonable.

busy chip shop opposite the toby carvery at goring, good size portions and nice fillets of fish, with big white flakes rather than reconstituted grey fish mush you find in some cheap shops in rough areas. Nice batter too. Very busy shop but they do seem to have got more staff now or they're shaping themselves better, so quicker service. Oh and they're open mondays as well, which is great.

A good fish & chip shop with a lot of choices in terms of fish size, the great thing is that they do provide a smaller fish and chip supper for those who don't want a massive meal. This is over and above the Senior option they also provide. It is great when a place provides for smaller eaters charging a bit less as opposed to only providing for the larger eaters and it saves waste. More places should follow this example. I will be coming back.

been here a few times as it's round the corner from my house... always so nice, not greasy, staff are nice, place looks clean.. also they confirmed that their oil that they fry the chips in is vegan.. amazing!! so nice , will always come back..

Had take away portion of chips which was great. Week later went for fish and chips queues always outside so thought it was a sure bet would be good. Chips lovely, fish however was very greasey and chewy. Will revert back to usual chippy.

This takeaway is always popular and offers a great meal at a reasonable price Its worth asking if they have skate in, as it is divine

If I’m in town I always head for this fish and chip shop they do really nice fish and chips, must cook in good oil. Clean and staff are very fast, so food is always hot. On nice day you can sit outside as right near the pier or take away

I have spoken to at least 3 people who love this place, and I have seen the queue out the door a few times but I was totally underwhelmed.

Love this place, great portion size for the price. Delicious. The queue out of the door on a Friday night should be praise enough, luckily I dive in the pub over the road for a few hours to avoid it ;)

I absolutely love it here, the food is superb! Staff are lovely and the place is clean. Definitely the best fish and chip shop I've ever been to in my life.

I have had numerous take aways here over the past few years & it was always good. However, I am sad to say, this weeks food was not good at all. In fact, I threw most of it away. My husbands fish was greasy and mainly soggy batter, the chips were soft and only just cooked enough. No crispy ones at all. Such as a shame as this used to be the best chippie in Worthing.

We're having our kitchen done so whilst this is going on our lives consists of take away and ready meals, this chippy is by far the best, chips are a great, portion size is by far bigger than you expect, we order the mini fish and chips and even that's massive, I ordered two, one for my son and one for my daughter, both of them couldn't manage it, for my son with a big appetite that's quite a achievement!!! When ordering be aware of the portion size, a mini fish would serve two children, I would order a medium chips and split it in two.

I've been on a bit of a Fish and Chip binge this week, and while passing through Worthing stopped at Worthing Fisheries. Large Cod and Chips and two tubs of Mushy Peas for less than £10! Thats is a bargain price for down south. The Cod was a nice big freshly fried portion, and the chips freshly fried too. Smothered in salt and vinegar. I ambitiously tried to finish them while parked up in the car, but go nowhere near. Instead finished them off for supper. Lovely and well recommended.

I have been coming here for years when I visit Worthing on business. The couple who run this place are extremely nice and always friendly. Chips are fantastic! Am very happy to recommend this take-away to other people :-)

Have been coming here for fish and chips the whole time I have lived in Worthing (17 years) and I would never go anywhere else. The family who own the shop are so friendly and always greet with a friendly smile and hello. The price is very reasonable and portion size is always more than enough. Overall the best in Worthing

I had used this shop regularly and really enjoyed the food in the past. I put up with the chaotic ordering and delays as I felt the food was worth it. More recently, the quality of the fish had degraded, the batter was soggy and the portions reduced. I commented on the reduced portions and was charged extra to top it up. Not the best customer service for a regular customer. On the up side, husband and wife team work hard and I hope this constructive criticism will be taken on board. I hope to retry the wares at a later date, there are other fish and chip shops that provide as good a meal!

After our chip shop of choice changed hands and went downhill we have cast around for another good one to fill its place and we think we have found it. Always busy and the portions are plentiful and freshly cooked. Another bonus is that they do gravy!

Really enjoyed this, only thing I would say was that we had fish that was already sat there and I'd prefer to enjoy it fresh out of the fryer. Food was delicious though either way!

Eaten here many times, the last time we ordered food for 6 people and annoyingly the young girl who took our order did not write anything down. We paid over £25 and got home to find a whole meal of fish and chips missing!

Food is freshly cooked, potions are huge and they have good veggie options. Friendly service. Highly recommended

As in title we're vegan, called ahead to check the oil they use (they use peanut oil) and if they used a separate fryer. They were so friendly and accommodating and obviously yes they did!

Food is good don't get me wrong.. but they have this thing about not writing down your order which leaves it open to your order being wrong or items missing (especially when busy) And doesn't help that they have new staff frequently who seem to be the ones that have to take your order and aren't fully trained and familiar with the menu.

If we find ourselves in the area we always try and visit the Worthing Fisheries. I think it is one of the best chippys around. It can get very busy on a Saturday night but the staff are well practiced and do what they can to get the orders sorted out swiftly. That can be a challenge when you see the size of some of the orders! Despite this the fish is always cooked to perfection and the chips are just right.

All i can say is this is the best fish and chips you will find anywhere. AMAZING. Not just fish and chips but veggie alternatives, kids options , pies.....etc Beautifuĺly fresh cooked fish, the best chips in the world and a family business, really friendly and welcoming.

We take away every Friday evening and sometimes in the week too, and the Fish and Chips are superb, as well as the Battered sausages and Curry Pancake rolls.....you know is very good when you see the queues outside on a Friday night that almost goes to the road....served quickly though and thoroughly worth a slight wait for. Top stuff.

This is the only fish and chip shop we use now, even though it isn't in our locality. Why? It's simply the best! Food always fresh and tasty, wonderful proprietors, good value, open unbelievable hours!!!!

Sat outside in lovely sunshine and had a "Chippy Tea". Always a queue which is always a good sign. Excellent service, tasted all the better for sitting outside eating out of the paper wrapper.

Sat outside in the sun eating amazing fish n chips , large portion sand freshest fish , we were visiting Worthing and cycling and these fish n chips were worth the cycle , staff very friendly too 👍🏻 don't go anywhere else .

Worthing fisheries is a wonderful fish and chip shop that often has queues out the door, the staff stay friendly and organised they remember exactly what you ordered of the top of there head and serve the best fish and chips around! we have often tried closer fish and chip shops for the distance however Worthing fisheries is by far the best!

Be prepared to queue but it's worth it. Mother batter is always crisp and crunchy, not soggy and the chips are great. Hot and fresh. Lovely

We always get our fish n chips from this shop and we have never had a grumble yet with the quality of the food. My only grip is the lady owner who takes your order as soon as you enter, then you end up repeating the order several times and particularly if its a large order.

I love this place! I think the couple who own it are Portuguese. Never had a bad carry out. Queues tell you a lot about the quality but I live close by and it is easy to slip in at a quiet but seldom moment

This is not my closest Fish & Chip Shop but I always go there! The fish is of a really good quality with a tasty batter. The chip portions are large and the cost is considerably cheaper than most others in the area. Husband and Wife run, you always get a cheerful welcome so, overall, you just can't really go wrong!

Started using this Fish & Chips shop over three years ago. The product is the best around by far and at a fair price. The owners are a lovely couple too! Certainly not the closest to where I live but worth going out of my way for.

Great food, fish can be a but oily but very good. One gripe is been going here years but this year the sausages have changed and taste terrible. Not sure why but it has put me off.
