Exquisite fish and seafood on the Worthing seafront! Excellent menu and daily specials, friendly staff and good recommendations from the owners! Try the fishcakes or their famous Old School prawn cocktail or any of the daily fish specials, brill, monkfish... not to be missed!

First time eating in at Crabshack, normally we eat on the terrace, but it was fantastic. Awesome soundtrack. Great food as always. Was hopeful that there would be a whole fish on the specials menu - was rewarded with a brill. Absolutely spectacular, the sticky toffee pudding also fabulous. Can't wait for another trip to the south coast to visit again 🤤

Finally managed to get a table at this popular spot and now I understand why! Exceptional food and service in a rustic setting, we had the Sicilian-inspired fish stew which is probably the best dish we’ve had on the south coast so far, plenty of fish and seafood and more than enough ciabatta to mop up the broth — I came close to licking my plate.

Visited at lunchtime with family. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were generous. We ordered the smoked salmon, calamari, seafood stew, and kids fish and chips. Staff were brilliant and friendly. Only improvement was we waited quite a long time for the food. From sit down to food arriving we waited an hour.

Very overpriced food , most of the food we ordered there was little cooking involved, most served cold we did not get impressed at all ,as I am a chef myself,I eat out often. But very delightful waiter(ess)The only positive thing about this restaurant. I will not eat there again.

A Hidden Gem by the Sea I had never been to Worthing before, but I visited for a professional reason. After finishing my work, I decided to look for somewhere to eat before heading back to London. I parked by the seaside and enjoyed a short walk along the pebbled beach, taking some photos of seagulls, before coming across The Crab Shack, which looked very inviting. From the moment I entered, the staff were incredibly welcoming, making me feel at ease even though I was dining alone. I ordered the pan roasted whole brill with a lemon and caper butter sauce served with skinny fries : it was simply outstanding – reminiscent of the Dover sole and chips I often used to have as a child. The sauce was particularly wonderful, and I enjoyed it so much I wished I could have ordered a second portion! I would highly recommend The Crab Shack for its excellent food, friendly service, and lovely seaside location. The fresh produce really stood out. I visited in early October and was told it can get extremely busy in the summer, so I was fortunate to enjoy a quieter experience. Whether for lunch or any other meal, The Crab Shack is definitely worth a visit if you're in Worthing. For those you need to know, no dogs allowed.

How have we lived on the south coast for over three years and not eaten at this restaurant? Although not a particularly large menu there is plenty of delicious fare for anyone who likes seafood and nothing that we ordered disappointed. The food was well cooked, well presented and served in good time by staff who obviously cared about their customers. We will most certainly be visiting this restaurant again.

Myself and my partner have been coming here for the past 3 years for our date nights, special occasions, birthdays and anniversaries. This is our go to restaurant for fabulous seafood and wonderful atmosphere. It’s lovely that staff seem to remember us over the years despite perhaps only coming 2-3 times a year on average; they always warmly greet us as though no time has passed since our last visit and offer to place us at our ‘regular’ table at the head of the indoor seating area. It’s lovely, to come here for any situation. The food is always phenomenal. Seasonal changes to the menu and specials always piquing our interest (and tastebuds), but our go to favourites always seem to make a return to the menu which we appreciate too so we’re never left unsatisfied regardless of time of year/season. We highly recommend the crispy squid and cockle and shrimp popcorn for starters, and the korean gochujang hake burger for main. But equally everything we’ve ever had here has been a wonderful dining and taste experience. Don’t skip out on the cocktails and boozy puds too! We ever look forward to our next visit, we only wish we discovered this place sooner! 🦀❤️

When I visit my friend we will always book the crab shack as the food is to die for. We have never had a bad experience. This time I couldn't believe how expensive my bill was £116.05. We know the cost of the fish plate, but the price of the spirits were very very pricey. We had two drinks each. Posh Gin £23 a Diet Coke £5.50. Premium Spirit £17. Note the price of drinks before ordering. Had I known we were getting Posh and Premium spirits I wouldn't of chose those. How can you justify these prices. Especially Coke come on for that price I could of purchased at least 3 litre bottles from even the most expensive supermarkets.

Really nice beachfront restaurant. Grest fish beautifully cooked. Good service. Booking essential at busy times. We paid £75 per head, for three course dinner with wine which was great value.

The food was very nice as always. The ‘old school’ prawn cocktail was delicious. The crispy squid portion seemed smaller this time. We were asked if I would like ketchup or mayo for fries. Having answered yes to mayo - a tiny amount appeared in a little paper cup. This was ok but to then be charged an extra 50p on the bill was a joke. Surely this should be included in the service to customers. Little things like this take the edge of a nice meal and quite unnecessary I think

We recently visited the CrabShack and I must say, it was delightful. I am not a sea-food person by any means however, the CrabShack managed to change that with their exquisite ways of preparing & delivering their food. I could have gone for a swim in the atlantic ocean & joined the array of sea-life shortly after consuming the platter they offer on their menu. A friend recommended we visit and boy are we glad we did. Great food matched with caring service.

Having read reviews and as a lover of all seafood, we arrived looking forward to a nice lunch. Our waitress ( and the waiter who brought our orders) were lovely. Our starters of Crispy Squid and Prawn Cocktail were nice, as was our bottle of house white. My wife ordered the prawns and crevettes as a main and I ordered the Sicilian Fish Stew. My wife enjoyed her main and the flavours of the fish stew were great. However, the stew, advertised in the menu as ‘packed with prawns, crevettes and surf clams, actually consisted of three of each, as well as the bream fillet. I mentioned this to the waitress ( without causing a fuss) and she said that she would tell the owner. We finished our meal and wine and despite being in the restaurant for another 20-30 minutes, nobody came to discuss my feedback. We paid our bill and left feeling disappointed and not valued as customers. Unlikely to return

The food was good worth the try

The fish platter is sensational, great variety, wonderful flavours and most importantly you can taste how fresh the fish is! This is a special treat for fish lovers and excellent value, be warned the platter is huge! Friendly and welcoming service, with a relaxed vibe, a very enjoyable evening out in Worthing. Great selection of drinks too, specially the cocktails!

Went out for lunch with my family, this is a great place to hind away from the sun. The food tasted well seasoned and fresh, uplifting atmosphere and friendly staff. Nothing special but would still recommend.👍🏼

We have been here a few times, this last visit was our first for lunch. Generally good food here, service on this occasion not quite up to usual standard, one of servers was a bit off. I tried the Korean haddock burger as it sounded like a good lunch option, it was generous which made it a bit challenging to eat as a burger, very nice seeded bun, the sauce did make it a bit squelchy to eat, and it was too sweet for my liking.

I remember the Proclaimers song - I would walk five hundred miles. Well I would walk a jolly long way for the Crispy Squid. Absolutely delightful. Jacob served table and he did an excellent job. He is just perfect for this happy warm restaurant. Great food, great fun and a beautiful way to spend an hour or two.

Got told to move on as we only wanted drinks and they had ‘lots of bookings’. 8 empty tables and would only have been 30 mins so very short sighted and frankly quite rude, therefore glad not to give them our hard earned cash! We won’t darken their door again…PS DOES SAY ‘BEACH BAR’ ON FACE OF ESTABLISHMENT AND ONLY A DRINKS MENU ON TABLE!!!

I went on my own for lunch , I was welcomed in and altho i hadnt booked they found me a table . The food was exceptional , so fresh and tasty I will def go back even tho I live two and a half hours away!

The food was good the owner was brash and dismissive .. I asked for crispy chips and he said they always are ! They weren’t and I kindly mentioned it, I was ignored! Disgraceful and Charging £45 for lobster, I rest my case.. insult to injury he was carrying a large tray up high with 3 full glasses, he got distracted and dropped the tray. He said it was the wind! The drinks fell next to me and lumps of ice on the floor. I’m disabled and walk with a cane, lumps of ice around my feet and they took so long to clear it all up. I could’ve slipped. He looked down looking if I got splashed and again dismissed what happened and no apology told me I was fine. My jeans and shoes were wert he walked away after he said he didn’t see anything.WOW I will NOT be going there again. I feel vindicated. It ruined my lunch out this is about the owner and my experience.

Yummy food, friendly staff, one must reserve a table before hand, can't just walk in... Would have loved more seafood main courses... Had some very good desserts so there was no need to go elsewhere for desserts. Thanks for the experience.

Very disappointing, had been curious about this place and finally tried it for the first time. Food took over an hour to come out without any warning it would take so long or acknowledgement in between. When we asked them it finally came out a bit later and was very average, lobster roll was £30 and looked like half a roll with a side of sauce. Over priced and over rated, don’t waste your time, walk a bit further to the pier and go to Perch, so much nicer there!

I have given Crabshack 4 stars on a previous visit. I had a plaice and chips on my recent visit and it was the best plaice with a sauce and it was outstanding. I went with my family and all agreed the same, fabulous quality and service.

Outstanding food, worth every penny

Had a lovely lunch with my partner and son. Shared the plate for two and ordered cockle and shrimp popcorn which was delicious. Food was great and generous (though the hot prawns with chorizo were overcooked sitting in the hot sauce). Friendly service. We'd definitely go back again and try other items on the menu.

If I could give more stars I would. Lovely staff, fantastic food, interesting drinks choice and surprisingly reasonable prices. Part of our order got delivered to another table - they owned the mistake, made it into a conversation piece, accepted the banter and mickey taking that resulted (and indeed entered into it) and...it didn't matter. I mean, we're not the type to make a big deal out of human error anyway, but the fact that they took ownership rather than making excuses or even lying (as has happened elsewhere) made it just spot on. Loved it. Will definitely go back.

Visited 1st August. Food was fantastic, good quality ingredients and big portions. The prawn cocktail was great and really good value. Cockle popcorn was so tasty and could have eaten 2 portions as so nice. Friendly staff and and a nice vibe. Advise to boom well in advance as always busy. Looking forward to our next meal.

The platter for 2 was good but not much fresh fish on there it does explain on the menu but only had 2 prawns to de shell. Rest was fried fish or frittata. The crab was very fishy (grey in colour) overall not really worth £60 but it was a nice experience. Staff were excellent

What a great spot! We were a group of 4 friends and our time here couldn’t have been more perfect. The menu is fabulous… and delivered on taste, not just looks! We had the seafood sharing platter which was devine. Washed down with some beautifully crafted cocktails - there was nothing not to enjoy. The service was attentive but not intense and we were not hurried. We are looking forward to returning soon:) Book in advance - it gets popular!

Food was delicious and wonderfully presented. Everything was good except my emotions. I feel really sorry for my two yorkies who were commented as not behaved. Yes they barked a lot. Yes they might affect other diners. Yes you, the waitress with a long-face, was intimidated by them. Yes you are right! I could not say I was unhappy when you told me not to bring my dogs next time. Yes I will not come back. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant if you have a dog who behaves.

Just a fabulous lunch at CrabShack, shared squid, then had the king prawn tacos - gorgeous! Partner had the prawn and chorizo which he loved , esp the spice ! Service so personable, friendly and attentive but never rushed nor pushy. A perfect lunch in every way ! Keep up the good work !

Decided on the spur of the moment to visit Worthing. We tied to book online, nothing available. Sarah took our number and called us as promised. The food is very good and smooth speedy service from Beck. Our 3rd visit never been let down.

Do not be put off visiting this excellent restaurant thinking I can't go because I don't like crab. The menu is fish and hugely varied so caters for everyone. It's not cheap but neither is it expensive given the excellent food, service and ambience. I was chatting to Trudi who was managing the restaurant the night we visited and praised her for the excellent staff and food. If you're ever planning to be in or close by to Worthing make sure you add this restaurant as a place to visit. You will not be disappointed.

Came for dinner a couple of weeks back. Our whole experience was ruined by the barman - potentially the owner? I order a small wine with soda. When it arrived it tasted strange so I let the waitress know and asked if perhaps tonic or lemonade had been used instead of soda. She took it back to the bar and a man brought it back and quite firmly told me all that was in my drink was wine and soda. I didn't want to make a scene so said ok. When the waitress came back she asked if I was OK and I said well it doesn't taste like usual but just wanted to try and enjoy a very rare date night. She went off and then returned to tell us it was in fact tonic water, that someone had put tonic in the soda by accident or something and passed on the man's apologies. I then got the correct drink which tasted good and was given on the house. The man however didn't come back to apologise, considering he was so quick to come over and tell me I was wrong, it spoke volumes that he didn't want to come back and apologise that there was a mistake. The waitress was really lovely, the food was OK but we won't be returning following this experience.

Great place to have seafood. I had the special menu, one of the crab menu and the spicy shrimp pil pil. The shrimp was great, the sauce of the fish was amazing, but the crab was a bit underwhelming. It was a good experience but a bit overpriced.

I visited on Saturday for an impromptu seafood lunch. The staff were really friendly, there was a great vibe in the restaurant, and the food was fantastic. The staff took the time to interact with our autistic daughter, encouraging her to eat her fish (which she did) and rewarding herv with some ice cream. We even tried oysters for the first time which I loved but my wife didn't.

Had a Korean hake burger for a change, It was delicious and would definitely recommend it. Don't go there enough, so we will have to make more effort.

Over-rated, over-priced and rude staff with for too much attitude. This review is based on multiple experiences by ourselves and several neighbours. Took visitors from California there 2 days ago, and they couldn’t believe how bad this place was. It was rather embarrassing for us Despite Crab Shack being local for us, none of us are going back there.

First time here. Just popped in for a quick drink and snack. Seated outside and not great weather but with the awning and heaters it was very pleasant. Blankets were also provided on each chair - nice touch. Just had a lager and popcorn cockles and shrimps. Served with mayo and wedge of lemon. Very enjoyable. Owners are also lovely. Will be coming back with the whole family for something more substantial soon.

Went for dinner, our first visit to this restaurant. Had crab cakes and squid starters, with fish stew and Sussex smokey haddock pie. Truly delicious, the flavours were bloody lovely and we eat every morsel. Really really great food washed down with several nice beers.

Good food. Choose Carefully otherwise too much of it can be fried. Try the Fish stews. There are good options on the specials board. Perfect spot after a long walk from Brighton.

Having read in the local press about the Crab Shack's award for Best Sussex Restaurant ( for the second year running) my wife and I, having failed to find a last minute table for Sunday lunchtime service through their booking engine, we took a chance and drove down from Horsham. It was rammed, but they kindly found us a table within 15 minutes So, so glad they did - we tried their sharing Fish Plate for 2 - we reckoned it would illustrate their skills well enough It was marvellous, and so generous, washed down with a glass or two of their pleasant wine offerings Service was lovely, and everybody had a smile on their face - we felt so lucky We will make sure we book next time - oh yes, there will most certainly be a next time, and soon!!

The most beautiful lunch. Clean, fresh oysters followed up by equally fresh and delicious crab, bream and prawns. Wines were the perfect accompaniment and the service was absolutely lovely. Cannot recommend this place enough.
