This used to be the very best fish & chip bar in Worthing but it has now changed and the order we had we could not eat - the lady in the shop admitted that no-one could eat the plaice swimming in oil and said you may as well take it for free for the cat!!! I wrote a really bad review telling the absolute truth about this place as it is now - not as it used to be - and my review was not printed ??? This is the worst you will ever find anywhere - should not be in business.....

Always excellent friendly service. The fish & chips are SUPERB! Very large portions. Tried other places but find Heene to be the most consistent!

Beautiful food, and very generous portions of cod & chips. The oil used is obviously very fresh, and the chips are the best in Worthing. Crispy and made with gorgeous potatoes. My daughter thought that the sausage was amazing. We wouldn't go anywhere else since finding this little gem. Very friendly owners also. We would highly recommend.

Poor fish on a 2022 visit, and they don’t take card payments despite advertising on JustEat. Avoid, there are many better places in Worthing.

I regularly go to this fish and chip shop and I have always had a good experience. The food doesn’t hang around as the owner cooks the fish when you get there. The portion size for the chips is amazing too, so even with the small portion, you definitely get more than you would expect. The fish batter is nicely cooked and tasty. It’s also great to see this chippy is run by a family, who are kind and always welcome me with a smile and greeting when I go in there. At the end of the day, this isn’t a chippy trying to be all fancy and upmarket, they just cook good food and I’m never disappointed. If you visit here you’ll be supporting a local family run business.

chips are always under cooked to the point they are crunchy and have to be finished off in an oven and he cant batter a fish because theres always raw batter left after he finishes due to over coating the fish and as someone who lives in the area his shop is im also sick of him feeding the seagulls in the road because the other day one got hit by a car which was bound to happen if your feeding them in the road and chaos was caused on the roads and by pedestrians who all had to work together to catch the poor frightened bird so it could be humanly put down and he just gets in his car and drives off leaving all us to clean up his mess. he didn't help catch it and to take the bird to grove lodge to be humanly put down a poor women had to get out of bed with covid to collect it and take it to grove lodge. i would put up with a lot more of his rubbish if his food was half decent but its insult to injury that the guy who provides horrible food is also a pain in the backside to live near. if your gonna be a pain in the backside you better at least have good food to make up for it. but nope.

We had takeaway fish and chips from here and were very happy. It’s a few moments stroll from the beach, and the shop was super clean. The fish was Fresh, the batter wasn’t greasy, and the chips tasted of potatoes! All in all very delicious. Be aware it’s cash only but there is a cash point very close by.

Well, three stars is generous as far as the food, decor and ambiance are concerned, but the owner is so gentle and enthusiastic that two stars seems a bit mean. If the internet was working and we had read some of the reviews we wouldn’t have gone. As it is we waded though the chunks of onion that accompanied the popadoms, the salmon that tasted dry and too fishy for its own good, the sag paneer, bizarre for its lack of cheese. Worse of all was the doughy disc of supposed garlic nan so poor. Best thing was the kind prawn delight, hardly a delight but pretty good all the same.

Lovely spot especially if you can get an outside table. Shame the windows have the bars across but can still see the sea and beach. Food and drink is of the cheap and cheerful price point. We had cheese burger and chips, the burger was a very good size and tasty. They have cakes, cookies and other snacks, all far cheaper than other venues locally. The staff are lovely, so polite, chatty, and efficient. It makes a change to have such good service these days. We have been back a few times recently because we enjoyed the food and service. It's not for everyone, but the prices more than reflect that. My only negative would be the opening hours don't necessarily match that advertised online.

I have visited this cafe twice now with my father in law who is in a wheelchair and frail. Both times the staff have been so welcoming, not minding me doing furniture moving to get dad into a spot where he will be happy. They have also been very understanding about my requests for the way dads drinks are made. We haven't eaten there yet, but the food looks lovely and everyone I have seen has cleared their plates. They also have a children's play area for younger children. I would recommend this cafe to everyone.

We were going to eat in the cafe, but were put off by the number of uncleared tables. The whole place looked a mess! And it wasn't even a busy time! And the customer toilets ( at least in the gents ) were a disgrace. There was no toilet paper in the WCs, the one soap dispenser was empty and one of the two hand dryers wasn't working.
