Angry rude manager, young with longish hair. Not good customer skills, looks like he hates his job. Won't be returning. Rather go to coal and cotton

It seemed to anger the bar manager when I asked about why the fires were not lit (6 degrees outside). He told me it's summer now so get used to it. Slightly saddening really as we went over to Barton Arms and their fires were in, but I love the old hall. Never had this issue before. Hopefully they'll sort it soon. Regardless of the season, it's cold in Manchester very, very often and heat is not a luxury despite what the politicians say.

Enjoyed a meal with eight friends today at Worsley Old Hall. Excellent service from Olivia, she was smart, kind, professional, friendly and she provided a great service. Nothing was too much trouble, a great asset to your company. I would recommend for a relaxed atmosphere and great food. Thank you. Adrian

Today marked our first visit to the establishment, which was notably busy upon our arrival. We did not pre-book a table, as we were unfamiliar with the reservation procedure. However, the barman, who appeared to be the manager, went above and beyond to accommodate us and engaged us in lighthearted banter. This was a refreshing contrast to some nearby locations where staff seemed overwhelmed during busy times. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the operation of this venue was impressively smooth and efficient. We were able to enjoy drinks at the bar while awaiting a table. Almost immediately, a table became available, and we were seated without delay. The food and drink offerings were excellent, with a quick turnaround for our orders and a vast selection that included both standard and real ales. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, this experience was enjoyable and seems to cater well to patrons seeking a relaxed yet lively dining environment. I would highly recommend this establishment to others; it is unlikely to disappoint.

Our family of six celebrated my husband’s birthday today at Worsley Old Hall. We arrived at 1.30pm and although it was very busy, we were very well looked after by Thomas who made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. He smiled throughout! There was something on the menu for everyone, resulting in 6 clean plates. I have Coeliac Disease and rarely get such a good choice of gluten free meals as I had today. It’s a lovely building in a nice setting. We had a very enjoyable time.

What a lovely meal in a formal but comfortable atmosphere. Thomas was the perfect waiter and attended to all our needs. The food was delicious and there was ample choice for our Gluten Intolerant member. We brought our own gluten free cake and there was no issue with Thomas bringing it to the table with all the candles aglow. Some staff even joined in the singing! We had some vouchers from a previous visit which made a significant dent in the bill too. All in all, it couldn't have gone better. Thanks to all the staff for their great service.

Myself and 2 friends decided to celebrate our successful cancer treatment at The Christie by going out for a meal. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The meal was delicious, served with a smile, and when asked if this was a special occasion we told the waitress about 2 of us undergoing successful treatment at the Christie. She was so moved by our story she wanted to celebrate with us and reduced our bill with a considerable discount. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, the food was well prepared and delicious, the service was second to none, and each of us felt that we'd had a perfect evening. Thank you Worsley Old Hall for a wonderful meal we won't forget

We recently dined at Worsley Old Hall with my family, and I must say it was an very pleasant experience. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a lively atmosphere that added to the great experience of our evening. The pub is notable for being dog-friendly, with many furry friends also enjoying the vibe. There are restaurant tables throughout the outer rooms, making it a perfect spot for both families and dog owners. Even though it was busy, we managed to book a table online in advance. We arrived slightly earlier than our reservation, and the friendly waitress encouraged us to enjoy a drink at the bar while our table was made ready. The drink selection was impressive, with a variety of tasty beers and ales alongside the usual lagers. I particularly enjoyed sampling several keg ales, with the “Road Trippin Extra Pale” was excellent. Once seated, we quickly ordered food for the kids, which arrived promptly. For starters, my wife opted for the pate, and she followed it up with the slow-roasted tandoori lamb for her main course. I chose the beef croquettes and the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce and a side of buttered vegetables. We paired our mains with a lovely glass of Rioja wine, and all the food was fantastic. We shared delicious profiteroles for desert. The service at Worsley Old Hall was exceptional. We felt warmly welcomed from the moment we entered until we left. However, I did notice that with the restaurant being busy, it took about 20 minutes to receive our drinks when ordered at the table. I found that retrieving drinks myself at the bar was much quicker. The pub is conveniently located next to the Delta Hotel where we were staying. A note for larger groups: they require telephone bookings and deposits for tables of ten or more. I did attempt to call several times but wasn't able to reach anyone; perhaps booking in person would be a more effective option. In summary, thank you, Worsley Old Hall, for a fantastic evening! I can’t wait to return.

Went here with my family in November 2024. We were sat in the back room to the left near the fire. The room was freezing and one of our party kept his Coat on. Service was great as usual and so were the drinks. Can’t fault the food either. However… WTF? Why oh why do you serve hot food on cold plates? Am I missing something? Does a warm plate make the food taste bad? Is it not good restaurant etiquite to use warm plates? Is it something a chef insists on? It just makes no sense. Half way through my meal my peppercorn sauce was cold from the freezing plate. If this is the way it should be then I will gladly apologise and remove this review immediately and ask for a warm plate personally next time.

This was to be a special day as our eldest Daughter and her Husband had flown in from Canada, and had been recommended this restaurant for lunch, and our youngest Daughter and her Husband all met here, along with my Husband and myself. We had travelled an hour and a half to get there, We hadn't seen our Daughter and Husband for 2 years, so this was to be a special Christmas meeting. What an absolute disappointment it was. I ordered the Turkey dinner. It was Turkey roll, 3 slices, with a piece of what I think was stuffing on top, and a minute pig in blanket. there were 3 sprouts, a small amount of green cabbage, and a spoonful of pickled red cabbage, and a small amount of mashed potato that would easily have fit on a desert spoon. there were 3 what I think were roast potatoes, but they tasted a few days old, and they were a funny colour, so I only tried half of one. They tasted as bad as they looked, the vegetables weren't cooked, so I had to leave them all, the mashed potato I only tried a bit, and it tasted like packet mash. Everything was only warm. it looked terrible, and tasted terrible. My Husband ordered a Sirloin steak, no steak knife was present, and the ordinary table knife wouldn't cut it. He'd asked for it to be cooked medium, but it was Black on both sides, and raw in the middle, and was very thin. He asked for a steak knife, and when it was brought to him, it wouldn't cut the meat, and he had to try and tear it into pieces, he said it wasn't really eatable, but he was hungry, so ate it. It was also cold. Every portion served was the size of a childrens portion. when the waitress started clearing the plates, she asked me if I had finished, as I had left nearly all of the meal. So, I explained very quietly how bad the food looked and tasted, she said she would report it in the kitchen, but I heard no more. Any chef who prided himself on his cookery would have come out of his kitchen to find out personally what was wrong. Our Daughter was the only one who enjoyed her lunch, as it was vegan, all the rest of us ( 5 ) complained about the meal. My Canadian son-in-law had the Fish and chips, expecting a good piece of Cod or Haddock, only to be told it was Hake, which is a lot cheaper. He said he would try it, and said it didn't taste too good. At the prices this restaurant charges we expected a decent Christmas meal, but all we got was rubbish. To say we were all disappointed is putting it mildly. I have sent a message to the restaurant, which was acknowledged to have been received, this was Wednesday, the 4th. but have heard nothing further. I do wish I had taken pictures of the meals, but didn't have my phone or camera with me. I do think the chef was having a day off, and someone very inexperienced was doing the meals. Yours Faithfully, Patricia Ball.

A beautiful building with a nice, large garden. Lovely staff. But the food was somewhat underwhelming. My 'Light Bite' meal was just that! One ½ slice of ciabatta bread, with two tiny pieces of spinach and 9 mushroom pieces, which if I had put them together, equated to maybe just 3 mushrooms. This cost £12.25 and was not worth it. The food order got mixed up which meant ½ of our party had to wait for their meals. Would not bother to order food here again. But would call for a drink as the staff are so nice.

I visit the Marriott a fair bit, and always make a point of visiting the Worsley Old Hall. The food is always delightful, the service is friendly and efficient, and it’s a beautiful building making for a very pleasant dining experience.

Our first visit in a couple of years to Worsley Old Hall delivered a pleasant meal, served by friendly staff. Whilst the main bar area was very busy and lively, the dining room to the side provided a relaxed setting to enjoy our meal, which included starters of crispy calamari and marinated feta, mains of feather of beef and pork belly, with a side of fries, and deserts of sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee. All were very good and reasonably priced. Whilst we enjoyed a bottle of tempranillo and the Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, my dining partner was a little disappointed that there are no cocktails on the menu at Worsley Old Hall. All in our meal and drinks came in at under £120, which was good value.

Very busy for a midweek late afternoon/early evening. Recently reopened after refurbishment of premises. No Ladies Toilets on ground floor but first floor rest-room is impressive. Visited with a group and no individual bills available...could be embarrassing as menu items were wide ranging in cost. Drinks: soft , non-alcoholic, and alcoholic were very expensive....£9 for a standard glass of house white wine. Perhaps I am out of touch but I did not feel that Worsley Old Hall is not a good option for a family visit. Lovely setting in pretty grounds. Adequate car-parking.

Been coming here for many years, way back to when they used to have Jacobite evenings with traditional mead! So that's some time ... I always find it relaxing and nothing is too much trouble. I love the fact people can bring their dogs too. Kids are welcome too, but there's not lots of things for them to do, except run around and enjoy the lawns, which is nice as it means you can hear yourselves talking and kids quietly laughing in the background. The grounds are lovely too. Can be difficult to park though, particularly in summer months, and there's not always enough shade if you sit out in summer either. Food is always hot, they've changed the menu recently and it's a little more expensive than it used to be, but the food is good, and plenty of it.
