Absolutely disgusting experience! Service and food we're shocking! We took my in-laws there who have travelled down from England, we ordered dirty fries, club sandwiches and the ham and cheese baguette! The baguettes ranged from soggy, crispy and dry! The dirty fries were dry with barley any sauce or cheese!! We asked for more and they brought a tiny bit for two! It was freezing cold and tasteless! The dirty fries were nearly £10 I'll upload a picture for you! As our food comes and we started eating it a waitress came to clean the table and asked us to pass her the empty glasses, we declined as we were eating! We found it difficult to communicate with them due to their lack of English! We expressed our disappointment and we didn't even get an apology! We will never return again!

Such a shame as this has a great location and captive audience with all the walkers and visitors to the National Trust coast. We were visiting from Norfolk to see our family in the area and had a lovely walk along the cliff, so decided to have lunch, which was a terrible mistake. The food was “thrown at us” by an obviously disinterested male member of staff, who had about as much personality as one of the cold chips on our plates! The “loaded” chips had a mediocre amount of cheese and cheese sauce, so we asked for some additional cheese sauce. However, the thimble full of cold orange stuff they brought had no taste or resemblance to cheese sauce. The baguettes for the club sandwiches varied between dry and hard to soggy, so had obviously been frozen and reheated. Even though you provide a table number with your order, we noticed that the front of house staff repeatedly took food to the wrong table and not one of them had a smile or ounce of personality. They asked to clear or table while some were still eating, which we declined and when the guy eventually came back to clear the table, my wife told him the food was not good, but she might as well have been talking to the table as there was no acknowledgement etc. Then the girl reappeared and proceeded to wipe down our tables while we were still drinking. Needless to say, we will not be returning and would not recommend this place.

Awful food in the pub, £20 for frozen fish and chips. Scandalous prices really when you can’t cook chips. Plenty of places to eat around gower, don’t waste your money here. Could hear loads of people around us complaining about the food. Seriously it’s rubbish, rock bottom pub grub at high end prices. Gutting really as it would be a cracking spot to finish a nice walk but I’d advise getting back in your car and heading somewhere else for food.

Absolutely awful food. Frozen microwaved rubbish! Fish & chips were inedible. Supposedly home made desserts that were microwaved (boiling on outside and freezing the middle) Kids meals were all horrible and nobody could eat the chips, the prices being charged they should be ashamed. We’ve not been here for a while but previously had lovely food and the restaurant was always full. It was empty today and now we know why. You cannot charge those prices and serve such awful frozen badly cooked food, people will just never come back. We certainly won’t be. Such a stunning walk, what a waste!

We loved our stay as the views are fantastic however the price of the rooms are way above the standard provided. We paid extra for the sea views but found the quality of the room quite disappointing and not worth the money . You simply get a few sachets of tea and coffee and not even any biscuits. The room was very small and basic . The food was good but once again elevated prices due to the location. The staff were excellent which in some ways equals out the excessive costs to stay .

Spectacular views great location! Lovely cosy rustic interior. Clean and good variety of food that was well presented, cooked well and tasty after long walks exploring. We had fish & chips. Facilities were clean. No dogs inside pub only outside on veranda that’s ok in good weather with amazing views of the beach and bay. Great verity of ales and beers. Friendly staff. Value for money. Children welcomed and catered for. Added Historical interest was very interesting

Sitting outside in the sun the views are stunning, great place for a drink, food was classic pub grub, nothing special but tasty, big portions and compared the central England very good value. Bit of a pain queuing at the bar with just the 2 gents serving (who were working very hard), but food was served fairly quickly and friendly to table. Nice range of beers. Very Dog friendly outside, plenty of bowls and water available.

Probably the best location in the world... I am a Swansea resident and have been for 8 years. I've been here several times. First up it overlooks rhosilli bay... Which I itself is a major plus. The staff here are brilliant. Friendly. Chatty. Efficient. Attentive. Even the owner is a nice guy. I ordered the Welsh Rarebit and traditional fish and chips. The starter was lovely. The salad fresh and tasty. The Rarebit was lovely.. Only slight criticism would be it was quite soft. The chutney was amazing. The fish and chips next. Firstly the chips are second to none. Triple cooked and done so to a high standard. The fish batter was perfect and the size of the fish was huge! Again only a slight critique... The fish itself was quite soggy but perfectly edible. I've been here multiple times and will continue to do so. It's location, staff and food are of a high quality. Don't delay... Go visit today!

Can’t comment on the food because they wouldn’t let us in with our dog. It was a bitterly cold and windy day, midweek lunchtime in January, the bar had a wooden and tiled floor (not at all polished) and the large bar /restaurant area (which had fantastic views) was virtually empty. Really can’t see why they would say we had to eat outside - we refused and ate elsewhere.

Being on my own, it was hard to reserve a table for me, which needed to be done before an order was placed, but in the end some people let me share theirs. I queued for 20 mins to place an order, to then find that the food would take 45 mins to an hour so I walked out. Yes, I understand this was the first sunny day for ages, but I can’t be the only solo diner who wouldn’t be able to reserve a table first.

After a long day exploring rockpools on Rhosilli beach then walking across the causeway and climbing worms head, this pub was perfectly positioned for a much needed rest and rehydrate. We stopped for dinner with our 7 year old daughter and she had kids chicken nuggets (of course) with chips and beans. The portion size was excellent and she finished the lot! My partner had Gluten free Fish and chips with mushy peas.... The fish was huge and the batter was fantastic even for GF. I had the whole hog burger which was another level of deliciousness! Pork burger, black pudding, bacon, mustard..... Heaven! Plenty of outdoor seating (picnic style benches but the comfier kind) and DOGS ARE WELCOME OUTSIDE.... ignore the review recently saying they aren't. P.s check the specials board near the bar before ordering as theres more then on the normal menu.

This place is trading very much on what is most probably the most outstanding view on the Gower, if only the food was anywhere near as good. I ordered the Welsh Rarebit expecting some lovely thick slices of bread oozing with melted cheese. What could be easier? What i got was some very dry slices of thin French stick with a thin layer of something dry and brown, with no visible or taste of cheese, see picture. It was served with a sticky small pot of pickle on the side which st least made it edible, just. My partner’s loaded fries were dry thick cut frozen oven chips with some bits of bacon, sour cream and a small amount of cheese. Nearly £9 each an utter rip off. We will admire the view from the car park next time and take a picnic. Suffice to say we would not return or recommend.

Booked a table for 5 for lunch but when we got there, they hadn't reserved a table. The woman behind bar looked vacant at us when we walked in. She started putting tables together but we had a dog so she said we had could only sit out side. It was raining out and the dog was an assistance dog,, so we sat in bar area. To cut a story short, the service was not good and waiter kept stretching over me to hand plates out, even though he could have walked around table and placed people's meals in front of them. When one of our party had nearly finished he stood waiting for plate. My husband went outside to vape and after he came back in out of rain, a member of staff came to table to tell him not to vape in pub, even though he hadn't. 10 minutes later she came back and said no dogs allowed even though it was explained about it being an assistance dog, obviously she didn't believe us as she wanted proof it was. Food was oK but presentation was not thought of when they served the meal. If you go there to eat don't expect good service or food well presented on plate. I would avoid the steak as it was nothing special but the fish and chips, faggots and peas and also loaded fries were all tasty.

Within minutes a waitress appeared and took a food order, I thought great we can eat and go watch the sunset perfect. 45 minutes later as the sun was setting the food arrived the 8oz burger was about 5oz and looked microwaved, the bun was nice, it was bun, lettuce, burger and cheese which was an extra £1.50 no relish and a few chips a bit crazy for the £13 price tag (including the cheese) my partner had a five been chilli which she said was lovely. Hard to understand why there are so many snide reviews about this place. The location is second to none, and the rooms are perfectly adequate for the price. Think of it as a pub with rooms - rather than expecting a swish hotel - and you won’t be disappointed. Certainly we enjoyed it as much as better rated inns nearby. The family rooms were all booked for our dates so we ended up with three rooms, all of which were pleasant and with great views. Breakfast was good, as was the evening meal we had, although we did find the choice a little limited. It was extremely windy on our visit, so sadly the outside terrace had to stay closed - we’ll come back hopefully on a day when it’s open and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. The views were outstanding, the service friendly and helpful, and the rest - all absolutely fine.

Our experience was one of the worse experiences of customer service EVER! We arrived at the entrance to the pub/ hotel at 7.35pm, where there was a notice to remain patient and advice that customers would be served as soon as service was available. After ten minutes a waitress explained that the wait would be a further 10 minutes. We sought confirmation that food would be served and told it would. I asked if I could take a chair and sit in the queue as i have a disability and needed to sit down. I was told to sit down where I was. I waited. A waitress came and invited us to our table. We sat down. She returned to ask us what we would like - “the menu please” - “ we are not serving food after 8pm” It was 7.55pm but this made no difference. The waitress apologised as we left. We were hungry. As we exited my partner spoke to the Landlord to explain we had waited for nearly 30 minutes. The Landlord said this was impossible as he had let someone in at 7.50pm. This simply wasn’t true (unless it was at another entrance). My partner said he had a parking ticket to confirm our arrival. The ONLY thing to recommend this hotel/ restaurant is the view. the service is appalling. As I sat waiting to be shown to our table, a waitress was complaining about customers and their attitudes. Unbelievable. If you want a good view and a long wait and very poor service, by all means head to this restaurant. If you want a friendly service and delicious pizza, head to the Lookout =- MUCH better. And look at the view from the car park!

Started off well as the view of the bay is stunning from the outside seating area and we were served pretty quickly, ordered our food and drinks and the drinks turned up first, pretty quickly again so no problems there or with the drinks, it was when the food turned up it was a huge disappointment, it came in takeaway cardboards boxes with wooden cutlery and was was quiet frankly bl%*dy awful I had an 8oz "steak" burger with smoked just about cooked sloppy bacon and Welsh chedder and it was completely tasteless, the rocket and tomato was the only thing that had any flavour!! Pretty poor fare at full pub food prices. I'd avoid for anything else but a drink if you are thinking of making a visit.

Friendly staff who with just a little prompting were happy to help as we sat on its outside terraced area….but that is where any positives stopped. The mush served up in cardboard boxes using wooden knives and forks was probably the worst pub food I have ever eaten.Bosses here ought to be thoroughly ashamed at what their kitchens are sending out to unsuspecting punters. Appalling doesn’t even begin to go there.Avoid and go elsewhere is my recommendation!

Firstly what a view!! Great service and food. Even though served in takeaway boxes. Great end to my day. Lovely and will bring the family next time we’re down here.

Can't beat the view, service a little slow but friendly waiter. Could do with sun umbrellas on more of the outdoor tables.

When we arrived we stood waiting to be seated as notice stated, we were barked at by the server to input contact info and told to sit anywhere and he would be over to take our order. We sat down and waited and waited and more people came in and orders were taken... and we waited and waited and more people came in and their orders taken. I tried to get the chaps attention to take our order as we were not allowed to go to the bar. He looked at me several times yet ignored me and still people were coming in and getting their orders taken. After 20+ minutes of being obviously ignored we walked out ! Dreadful experience l wouldn’t recommend going there at all unless you just want to sit at a table looking at views with no food or drink order taken and to be rudely ignored !!! We found another delightful place to eat The look out a little further up who knows how to treat customers and make them feel welcome and the food was delightful. I would recommend you eat there instead and give this place a complete miss !! Wouldn’t give it any stars but in order to publish my review I have reluctantly given it one star !

Stopped in here for some much needed refreshments following a day on the Rhossilli beach. Service was fabulous, got it off to a tee with the current restrictions. Friendly staff and awesome views.

This meal was the worst meal I have ever had. My wife and I both had the cod, chips and mushy peas. The meal was presented in a cardboard box with wooden knives and forks. Eating the food was so difficult that we ended up eating it with our fingers, just like McDonalds, not a restaurant. The batter on the fish was too greasy that we left it. The chips were like crisps so we left that as well. The peas soaked into the paper so I was picking up and eating paper with the peas. We both left our meals. Drinks were in a plastic container that were so thin and flimsy that I needed two hands to take a drink. I complained to the waiter and he said that he would tell the chef at the end of his shift as he was too busy. I doubt very much if my grievances were passed on.There are many eating places in this small village, give this one a wide birth.

Arrived and not surprised had to queue to enter which was fine. One way system through the bar to find a table outside. No explanation from bar staff given so have to go out and queue again to order drinks. Take a photo of the menu on your way through as this will prevent you from having to queue twice (drinks then food) Food was very average - won’t be rushing back. Also, the tables didn’t look like they were sanitised between customers, plates left on tables and having to ask staff to remove them which was done without even a wipe down Better to take a picnic and sit on the grass - same view. Such a shame as this hotel has the best view

Beautiful views and fantastic walks, had lunch which was just ok but the cheesy garlic bread was so tasty. The area is absolutely breathtaking and if you haven’t been your missing out. There was a very large car park and it was £6. All day .

This pub is worth going to simply to sit outside and enjoy the view with a drink. It is a few years since I have been and am very surprised that it still seems to offer a very basic meal experience and tatty facilities. At some stage it will be bought up and spruced up and available only to those with very deep pockets. Do go while you can the view is breathtaking.

We visited on Mon 24 Aug 20 and were looking forward to a nice lunch. The restaurant was not taking part in the Help Out scheme. The choices on the board were very limited for us, and we decided to just have the prawn cocktail and sides of garlic bread. It was the first prawn cocktail I've had which did not have Marie Rose or mayonnaise sauce. We could have mayonnaise in a sachet, but that is not the same. It was also quite pricey. Will we go again - most certainly not. The view is wonderful, but take sandwiches or a picnic and save yourself money.

The food has seriously gone down hill since last year. We got boxed fish and chips, okay thats the same in most places these days but the chips were nearly charcoal they were so well done and fish was a small factory produced fillet. The chippy in the nearby village produces a far better dish for alot less. The view is nice but the food abysmal.

The fish and chips was fairly average, not much better than a chippy. It was 'takeaway' too, so presented in a cardboard box for which you paid nearly £12. As it was 'takeaway' even though you were sitting on sight and it was delivered to your table, it didn't qualify for 'Eat Out to Help Out'. It had the atmosphere of a slightly chavvy pub, fine if you like that sort of thing in 2020. Could do with a re-furb.We only ate here because it was the last place open - we would probably have got our food from the nearby takeaway and sat on the grass with the same view!

Unfortunately they obviously don’t care about the quality of food as the view is beautiful. I had the chicken curry, very dry chicken, limited sauce and £11! Partner had prawn salad and garlic mushrooms, not much food and poor tasting. My son had chicken nuggets and chips, only had 5 tiny pieces of chicken. Go for a lovely drink but avoid the food.

Visit here about once a year and always makes me chuckle at how nothing ever changes. As the title says the whole point of this place is the superb view and the chance to have a drink overlooking some absolutely stunning scenery.Don’t eat anything and don’t allow yourself to get disappointed at the bored-looking employees who stand behind the bar and eye you with suspicion as you dare to walk into their public bar, the old-fashioned décor, terrible service and rude demeanour (in the main) of the majority of staff. Just buy a drink and make your way out on to the patio area. Enjoy the view. Then leave.Yesterday’s ‘entertainment’ came in the form of an older guy (owner?) remonstrating with a group of customers who had dared to bring a dog with them. Firstly accused them of bringing their own food with them – turns out it was a little tub of dog treats. Then told them they were sat in the wrong place - despite there being no signs to say that. His aggressive manner escalated the situation and the whole party ended up leaving. I wonder how many times a week that happens? From what I can see (and what a lot of reviews seem to suggest) I doubt they’re really bothered at the loss of trade. I assume most customers are passing tourists and are unlikely to come back. I suspect the establishment wouldn’t last very long if it had to rely on regular, returning customers.Great view though

We visited here on the 28th July, I had fish, chips and mushy peas, my husband a burger and daughter chicken burger. The food was well cooked and very generous portions, the chips were homemade and gorgeous. The chicken burger was just pure chicken Brest. We felt they were very organised and helpful as they had only been open for a couple of weeks serving ‘takeaway’ food. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. If we had seen the previous review may have given it a miss. Would highly recommend and the views are simply stunning from the outside terrace.

We visited here and went through entrance. Hand sanitizer on way in and ordered our drinks. Whilst outside no one was cleaning the tables properly and when we did ask he used a wet cloth. I then went to use the toilet to be told that they were closed and to use the national trust ones at the bottom of carpark. These toilets we not cleaned all day and were filthy. Even had a sign saying use at your own risk. Waiters clearly had no guidance how to serve food during these times. My advice would be to go to the king Arthur hotel. Much better prepared and run. Also food was much nicer there.

This pub definitely has the best sunset in wales. Its cosy inside but the main attraction is the view from the outside which is unbeatable. Because of this drinks are a lttle more expensive. Some staff could be more friendly but others are really nice. Serves really good lcal beer such as gower gold and gower power

Ok, I haven't steak and ale pies in all the restaurants in Wales, but during our two week trip, this was clearly the best that I had. Flaky crust top, no fat on the beef, delicious gravy. I thought it was amazing. It's a great place for lunch when walking the coast trail.

We ate here for most of the nights of our week's stay, including our wedding anniversary. The staff were always really lovely and accommodating. The restaurant was sometimes quiet, sometimes busy. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice. And the wine was reasonably priced. Enjoyed the whole experience.

We came for a sunday lunch. Food was terrible. The yorkshire pudding was dry and bland, and the meat was very undercooked. The vegetables were cold and there was a very small portion for the three of us. There was barely any gravy and we had to ask for another serving. The decoration wasn't too interesting. The view was good, though. Makes it a 2 star. Don't come here, only come if you want the view. If you are here for a good meal, don't come here.

Scampi and chips were fine. 2 x fish cakes were gorgeous, but the chips with them were awful. They were bitty and hard and more like 'batter bits'; they looked like the dregs that fall through the basket in the fryer. The staff were quite unfriendly and the woman who brought the food to the table didn't even speak! Doubtful we will visit again. Shame.

Terribly slow service unless of course your a friend of the blonde lady with glasses serving at 10.30 am 19/1/24 and you want to chat about things . I have to be honest , I didn't like the way she served a young guy in front of the blonde lady in front of me . When he asked for a pasty she seemed to find the way he asked to be amusing and smirked at the blonde . When he left she started to serve this lady but stopped put her elbows on the counter, cupped her face in her hands and started to have a full blown conversation. Then it appears as your a friend you get free extras oh and don't forget a blank collectors card that she'll fill up for you while you wait . I turned around to the guy behind me who looking at me raised his eyes and I said loud enough to be heard . '' Maybe we should have a conversation about how our day is going and pass the time while we wait '' . Eventually it was my turn to be served with a spitted '' Yes '' ? Really not a pleasant experience in my opinion and I'm sorry I stopped at this branch .

Not safe for people with food allergies. None of the staff members had any understanding what gluten was. I had to explain I couldn’t eat bread, flour, wheat etc and they then brought me a salad with couscous. I asked them for a fresh salad but I don’t think they understood how serious an issue this is for me. I have been unwell since. The service was very substandard in other respects. It felt like it was all of their first days at work. I think this cafe would benefit from decent management and training staff. It’s gone really downhill since I remember it from years ago. The cutlery was all dirty, as were the glasses. None of the tables were clean. Really disappointed

Fish was ok but no bigger than the other ones in the heater unit, soggy chips were ok. This is the most expensive fish/chips/curry sauce /battered sausage I’ve ever had. Friendly staff but £26.40 was not worth the cost.
