I like Woodys cafe and we often pop in for breakfast. Good honest food and nothing is too much trouble. Proprietor and staff are friendly and welcoming which counts for a lot also.

This was our first time here (wife is off to craft club over the road) the food was hot, tasty, and filling. We definitely call here for breakfast on craft days.

I have been visiting woody’s cafe for over 10 years & it is by far my favourite fry up in the world. Brilliant value as well, the hunger buster is £5.20 & only gone up 20p since I have been going. Always cooked perfectly & the owners & staff are always friendly. Must visit to see how good the fry up’s truly are.

We work locally and had a power cut for a long time so popped to Woodys for some bacon sarnies and hot drinks ... they were amazing ...lovely bread, bacon cooked to order we nearly went straight back for more. We’ve since returned and we will be regulars ! Well done Woodys and thanks for the drinks

Went into Woodys last week for the first time, and chose it as it was convenient for the mate who I was meeting and I. I won’t hurry back to be honest. The staff are friendly enough but the service was slow and the food average, a,though The has browns were so overcooked that when I attacked them with my cutlery bits flew everywhere , they were that crisp and solid. The rest was okay, but no more than that, and at £5.20 for more or less 2 of everything you can’t really moan although a cup of tea was extra. Personally I would sooner pay a couple of quid more and enjoy a better breakfast.

Poped in for breakfast , as I had to buy something from toolstation opposite. I ordered breakfast and paid , sat down and waited....... 45 mins later !!! My very poor breakfast arrived , not hot! I was so hungry after waiting so long , I just ate it ! Other people were complaining as they also was waiting so long! So busy , also lots of telephone orders were being picked up 😩 So I will not return to this cafe.( the waitress did apologise for how long I had to wait for breakfast)

Woody's is the correctly spelled name, despite the superfluous "Caffe" (sic), of this good cafe but unfortunately others have reviewed it as "WOODIES". q.v. Consistently good honest food and value. Friendly welcome. Wish it stayed open later than the usual 3 p.m.

This is a great little café which serves delicious breakfasts and lunches. It tends to cater for the tradesman but always makes you feel welcome. The food is cooked to order and is always fresh and hot. The bacon sandwiches are our favourites and we tend to have the car washed at the place next door while we have a breakfast. One we have recommended to all our friends.

I wasn’t going to write this review as I appreciate a negative review can really affect a small independent business like this, but after reading the other negative reviews it sounds like my experience wasn’t an isolated incident so the owner/manager needs to take notice. When I walked in there was a sign saying “please wait to be seated” but no one around. I waited a good 5 minutes before a young girl came to the counter and said very condescendingly “oh, just a table for one?” One of the main reasons I had decided to come here was because of a sign out the front advertising milkshakes. I asked what flavours they had but was told “no we only do them in summer.” Okay then. False advertising. I then noticed the specials board which advertised the cake of the day as white chocolate fudge cake. Thinking that sounded great I asked for that. “No we don’t have that” I was told. Okay then. More false advertising. At this point I wanted to say “you know what, I’ll just go then” but I felt awkward so asked what selection of cakes they did have. Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, apple crumble.... what a basic selection! No carrot cake, no red velvet, and no chocolate. I decided to go for the coffee and walnut. When it came time to pay, I realised I only had about £3 in change but I had my debit card and 2 credit cards on me and clearly wasn’t trying to steal a slice of cake. I thought a slice of cake couldn’t possibly be more than £3 anyway, especially as Maxwell’s Cafe over the road does delicious cakes for £2 a slice. Wrong. £3.50 for a slice of cake. The minimum for card payments is £5, which is understandable. But my god the look the woman gave me when I asked if there’s a cash machine nearby. She made me feel like a criminal! She was so rude and made the situation unbearably awkward. I was standing there with my purse, obviously not trying to dine and dash. I even said to her “look I’ll just pay you £5 for the cake”. I felt so humiliated. I was made to feel absolutely awful from the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out. It’s such a shame as I had been thinking about coming for afternoon tea with friends here but I won’t be stepping foot in here again. Not after being treated like that.

Great food and service. Beetroot Panna Cotta was a great starter - light but depth of flavour. Halibut perfectly cooked. Steak cooked as ordered and fabulous chips! Menu was excellent with great choices - good choice and reasonably priced wine menu Attentive service and good value for money. The restaurant looks superb and is well located.
