Had a meal today with my friend and we both had homemade seafood pie. It was interesting, it described it as having a creamy dill and parsley sauce. Obviously the sauce had split as it was like water and as for honey roast parsnips, no taste at all in fact think they were just boiled. Sad experience.

Fantastic week's stay at this hotel. Beautiful outlook over the solent and gorgeous sunsets. Rooms were lovely, comfy beds and good amenities We did intend to go out each evening for a meal but the food was so good and by the time we returned from our days out, we ate here every night. Good entertainment on Monday and Tuesday nights, Nathan organised both and they were very well done and great fun. Would highly recommend. Liam did ask for constructive criticism and the only thing I would say is WRITE THINGS DOWN, he'll know what I mean

We arrived late on Sunday at about 1.30, and were pleasantly suprised to find there were plenty of tables, even though the restaurant was busy. We had roast beef. It was nicely presented with a large yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, parsnips, and gravy. A side of red cabbage, brocoli and carrots. We splashed out extra for a bowl of very delicious cauliflower cheese. £16 for the roast and I recall about £4 for cauliflower cheese. It was very tasty and we will certainly visit again. My only small niggle is that the gravy was already on the plate. I prefer a jug of gravy. Service was fairly basic, but pleasant. The hotel is literally overlooking the sea and it looks like there's a nice walk to be had here. We were going on to a family occasion, and didn't have the time to explore, but we certainly will next time.

The Sunday Dinner was poor. Thin slices o over cooked roast beef and reheated roast potatoes. An inadequate serving of gravy. The roast puds were dry and crispy. All of that cost £16 for an adult and £12 for a child. On the plus side the London Pride was good and its a good location and view. There was a deal on the white wine. All in all we won't go again.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights (separate review) whilst exploring the Isle of Wight and were going to eat in Newport the second night, but so enjoyed our meal on the first night that decided to return to the hotel for our evening meal. I particularly was appreciative of the vegetarian options. I occasionally eat fish when veg options are unappealing but no need for that in this hotel restaurant. First night I went for the Chinese Salt and Pepper tofu dish. Made me think there are definitely vegetarians on the staff to create a dish as interesting as this. Served with miso broccoli, sesame mangetout, red pepper and udon noodles this was a really tasty and unusual option. Second night I opted for the Roasted red pepper, chilli + vodka tagliatelle. Again an interesting tasty variation on a tagliatelle dish. No idea how much vodka was in it but I wasn’t about to be driving anywhere so didn’t matter.😀 Some nice local ales on cask to accompany food as well. Mrs Manxseasider, as a card-carrying carnivore, is easier to please and enjoyed her Coconut chicken curry and then Lamb and apricot pie next day.

Lovely food and a great view, particularly the sunset. Our waitress was very attentive but the meal out was ruined by a group of staff behind us swearing loudly throughout our dinner and being very affronted when customers came to the bar. Such a shame as we were so looking forward to it but ended up eating quickly and leaving early. Not very family friendly.

Very rarely can I say that everything about an evening was perfect but I can about our experience at The Woodvale. The staff could not have been more attentive, especially around the special dietary needs of two of the party. Later in the evening the owner was at the bar and bought us all a drink, a cracking guy called Simon (was the spitting image of Billy the electrician from DIY SOS) who really knows how to run a top class establishment. I highly recommend you visit if you can.

To start with they couldn’t do a flat white coffee so we had to make do with a normal coffee. Then we ordered food from the main menu which was three times goujons of fish. This was 1 pm in the afternoon and from the mains menu and they run out the place was empty so we had to make do with scampi for six pieces of scampi and chips we were offered Fish fingers !! When the food eventually arrived, only half the table had the food. The other dish was waiting in the kitchen for For some time I have to ask for it. Everything seem to be slapdash under inspiring and I’ve had a bit of food at a Wetherspoons. Extremely disappointing as this place was recommended by a friend who lives nearby.

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years and I have to say with a heavy heart, after last night's dinner with friends it will be a long time before we go again. The decor has been given a face lift which is good. Sadly though, we waited well over an hour for our food which was well under par compared to previous visits. The gammon was dry and rubbery, and the roast dinners were over cooked and microwaved. We were so disappointed with the table staff's attitude and the quality of our meals, we paid and left without our usual deserts, coffees and additional drinks.

We visited Cowes for the weekend to watch SailGP racing. Not having been to Cowes before, we looked up hotels in the area and found The Woodvale. As this was Cowes Week we realised that space would be a premium so booked our stay, not knowing anything about the hotel. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel, staff and accommodation. The rooms were of a good size with all the extras you would want, including a sea view. However, the stairs to the second floor were a bit of a challenge as they were steep and narrow. A lift would have been perfect, although space would inhibit this I think. The breakfasts were excellent, with a varied menu cooked to order, the food and coffee was very fresh and tasty. We loved the bar/restaurant as it had the feel of a local rustic pub which was very comfortable and overlooked the sea. The main downside for us was the distance into Cowes, it was walkable and we enjoyed the walk there, with wind assistance, although the walk back was a challenge almost too much to bear, thank goodness for the various benches to take a rest. The wind was so strong that all Saturday racing had to be cancelled. If you want a hotel away from the hustle and bustle of central Cowes, this is perfect. I would certainly recommend a stay here.

I visited here on the recommendation of a local and was sadly disappointed. I will start with the positive and that was the speed with which my starter of crab and gruyere tart arrived. It was tasty and enjoyable. I had chosen to have a starter with some chips as wasn’t very hungry.

This is a great pub, down the hill from us, and a regular haunt. Live music by some good local musicians, excellent beers and friendly (mostly) service, I would recommend this to anyone. I love the nachos (quite “American style” with large portions of cheese and chilli) and the burgers, but they have favourite English dishes too, including a fish and chips made with Gurnard, a local fish. If the weather is good, the large terrace is a beautiful spot.

Chose small lasagne and that's what I got. It was ok. Nothing to rave about. Perhaps a bit flavourless

My wife and I decided to have our wedding reception at the Solent Suite at the Woodvale. Kevin and his team promised a lot but not only did they deliver but more than exceeded all our expectations. The setting was just right for us as a place which was formal enough for what we wanted but relaxed enough that we could all let our hair down after the meal and have a disco with the sun setting over the Solent.

We had lunch here, booked last minute. The food and service were great. The burger and waffle were lovely. We booked last minute and were accommodated. Would definitely go back. The views were great too.

This place has the best drinking view of the solent in my opinion. Sunset is particularly lovely. However, this was a sunday lunch visit.

Went here on a hot, sunny Sunday around midday. Unsurprisingly a lot of the indoor tables were reserved but a few were available. We sat outdoors where there is a nice selection of both covered and uncovered seating across multiple levels.

Went on a Sunday before going to the ciniworld on the complex. Waited 40 minutes for two pizza and 2 garlic bread with cheese. Pizza turned up 1st ( stone cold ) followed by starters 10 minutes later ( stone cold ) and I had encouraged the other two members of the party to eat at pizza hut because of my experience on the mainland. Obviously this was a bad idea , I would have thought as a chain they would all be the same or similar, how wrong was I. DONT waste your money or your time in this place , you'd probably find a hotter and more nutritional meal in a McDonald's waste food bin.

We had a super Sunday lunch here after strolling through the botanical gardens. the chef Michael Jackson (yes, really!) cooked a delicious roast beef for my husband & did a special sea bass for me. Very attentive service from friendly staff & really good wine by the glass in pleasant surroundings, with the sun streaming into the restaurant.

Popped in for a quick lunch with a toddler and unfortunately the experience was very poor. Fish and chips were inedible - dripping in grease. Roasted veg panini, asked to be warmed and came back deconstructed and floppy. Every coffee cup was dirty and cutlery was grubby too. Thankfully they offered a refund but didn’t seem to want to listen to why we were unhappy - a big shame as sister store in Lake is always good.

Popped by for a Hot Drink & Snack after walking the dog on the beach. Very friendly staff, very welcoming and nice hot drinks which were reasonably priced for the size of the mugs. We definitely recommend visiting.
