10/10 for the doggy ice-cream our boys loved it. The cafe is a great stop off point after a dog walk in the woods. The food and coffee are delicious and the staff are so welcoming. Well worth a visit.

On holiday in Cornwall and we wanted a Cornish cream tea. We found this was near where we were staying. What a fabulous find… family run cafe with home made cakes… It’s just inside the Woods ( hence the name).. and a stones throw away from the car park. This cream tea was the best we have ever had and we have had a few! Just gorgeous and such value for money, two warm freshly baked scones and a mug of tea. We both chose to have a fruit and a plain one.. plenty of cream and plenty of jam. Couldn’t finish mine so they kindly gave me a box to take away! Lovely staff lovely place. Definitely recommend.

I live locally and have visited this cafe for years. Unfortunately after a change of front of house management it has lost its appeal and family feel for me. I visited here after picking my 4 year old daughter up from the local school, arriving at 1525pm for cake and a drink. It was a windy, cold and raining day and on arrival at the cafe, which is clearly advertised as open until 4pm, we were met with a large A frame board informing us that the toilet and cafe is now closed for sitting indoors and a takeaway drink was all that could be made. Having paid £4 for the parking for half an hour already, and having a disappointed little girl in tow, (Once acknowledged as the team were stood chatting to one another on arrival) i highlighted that the sofa area within the cafe was free, there was two other tables who had only just started their cream teas and clearly were going to be there a while and we would be gone by 4pm as were only having a cake and cup of tea/juice treat. We were told no we couldnt sit there in the free space and 'the best they could offer' was a takeaway cup and cake to sit outside in the freezing cold marquee area and pouring down rain. Because of the constant stream of visitors to Cardinham woods and the captive audience Woods Cafe have become complacent in their offering and customer service. If you get the opportunity to clean the cafe and toilets and there are no customers so you go home on time at 4pm each day, all the better, but if you advertise you are open until 4pm and then turn people away prior to that simply because it may mean you have to serve them, then I think you need to look at yourselves. We went up the road and tried Cobys Cafe at Stable Art for the first time which I thank Woods Cafe for as if it wasnt for their rubbish customer service we'd have never sought out. We have since been back twice to Cobys Cafe for lunch and cake and have recommended it to others.

Great spot for a coffee and flapjack. Cardinham woods is a very well organised forestry commission site. Good for walking and great for mountain biking. Cafe set up for this with dogs welcome inside and outside marquee style space if you want that. Nice and reasonably priced coffee flapjacks and cakes that seemed to be locally produced and fresh. All in all lovely spot for a coffee and warm up Think they did lunch stuff too if you fancy bigger eats

A great little place in beautiful woods. It was easy to find although down a narrow lane, and there was plentiful parking (pay and display). We found a seat inside despite there being 9 of us and 4 dogs. The food was great, we had sandwiches, soup and the buddha bowl followed by cream teas (one of the best we have come across in Cornwall). The staff were friendly and helpful and we had an altogether lovely experience which we will certainly repeat in the future.

Pretty little cafe, warm and inviting with the open fire; good location for something to eat/ drink after a walk in Cardinham Woods. We visited between Christmas and New Year, prior to visiting we checked opening times online for that day that were 10.30-4, and said takeaway only after 3.30. We arrived at just before 3 so we had plenty of time for coffee and cake, which looked really tasty. When we went to order we were told takeaway only. The weather wasn’t great and we were with with friends; and the purpose of our visit was to sit and enjoy our coffee after our walk, and had purposely planned and left time to do so. We asked even if in takeaway cups etc if we could drink them inside where it was warm and dry and were told no and would have to wait outside to collect takeaway. She said they had been too busy all day and had had enough today. Having worked in hospitality, I understand how hard it is when busy, but if you have advertised your opening hours, these should be adhered to. If you intend to do takeaway from 3, or have variable opening times, this needs to be disclosed. We were really disappointed as were others in the queue, such a shame.

Having been here a few years ago when I had the best veggie Christmas sandwich possibly ever, I was really disappointed to come back this time and see there was no veggie version of their big Christmas sandwich. The meat eaters really enjoyed theirs but with no veggie one and 2 out of 3 vegetarian options (other than soup) out of stock I was left with a cheese sandwich for £9.95. Accompanied with some very stale crisps and some limp leaves, I can’t really see how you justify that price for a dry cheese sandwich anyway, let alone compared to the fully stuffed Christmas one at the same price. Just disappointing when all it needed was a swap for veggie sausages or some Brie (which was what the stunnin old veggie one had!) And I felt robbed blind!

Just a short drive from our Airbnb, down a single track road though, but lots of passing places, to the beautiful woods. The café is there. You do have to pay for parking £3 for 2 hours. 2 adults had a cream tea, shared one, so one scone each & had an extra tea, the scones were big and delicious, cross between a cookie & a scone, crunchy outside & served warm, plenty of cream and jam too. I had green tea which is what I always drink, it came in a mug with a huge tea bag, way to strong for the amount of water in the mug, asked for a pot of water, which came & was only half full 🤔 should have in my opinion come in a big tea pot FULL of water initially, waste of a lovely tea bag. Would definitely recommend this place, we had planned a walk in the woods afterwards but it was pouring with rain when we exited the café.

Excellent cafe in the heart of Cardinham Woods. Perfect for a long walks end, for lunch or maybe coffee and cake. The food is fresh and tasty. There is in and outdoor seating and places for the children to play. They have a great specials board as well as an excellent menu. The sausage sandwich is a must if it’s on the specials board when you go. Try the cream tea, which is a meal in itself. The staff are lovely, friendly and do everything to be helpful.

I’ve been coming here for years and have always had coffees served in cups. Today I opted for a take away as we wanted to get on our way. I waited 25 minutes for a latte and a hot chocolate. That wasn’t the sad part however. My latte came in an 8f oz cup (just 235 ml of liquid) for £3.40. Just glad I decided not to splash out £3.80 for a chai latte!!! Had I known the size of the cup before ordering I wouldn’t have bothered. I’m not comparing to Costa or Starbucks either but most places that serve hot drinks to takeaway use a 12f oz cup minimum. Flask it is next time.

We come to Cardinham every week as we are fortunate to live close by.The scones are second to none and we are looking forward to when the plates and cups return but happy with them in a box for now. I read a couple of reviews saying that prices are too high and I have to say that imo they are spot on for the quality of the produce and baking. If I can make 2 observations and one request ? - Dont put a sign up asking people to wear masks for the safety of patrons and staff when we are met with maskless staff on entry- I appreciate that they are no longer manditory but if they wont wear them to protect me - then mine comes off too. Sandwiches are fantastic but do agree that the ham / cheese could be a tad thicker as the bread is delicious. Our request is - can we please have larger coffee options ? You have the large cups for tea - would be great to have latte in them pleaseYour bacon scones are to die for - do hope they are not seasonal. Well done to all the team working there - we have seen some very rude patrons giving them a hard time over the summer - not necessary.Keep doing what you are doing and see you next week (weather permitting) !

I am not a local...but am a yearly visitor to the cafe, when we ride the trails on our holiday. Have noticed a few changes this year and last. We used to love the pulled pork bun, but the menu has been dramatically pruned this year and last and it has disappeared and there is not much choice. The prices also seem much higher...probably to cover the cost of the radio beepers and the packaging. The cafe now feels like a fortress and feels a little unwelcoming. I am trying to be supportive as there may be personal reasons for this. The food quality is reasonable...but the value for money is poor these days I feel. I hope it recovers it's original charm when covid releases its grip...but this is now the second year it has been like this.

Myself and my support bubble had a enjoyable walk around Cardinham woods and decided to Grab a spot of lunch in the cafe. It looks great and very cute. We headed inside and they asked if we were from the same household. My friend explained that we were a support bubble (2 of my friends live together and I live on my own), she lady quite rudely said “we don’t do support bubbles”. We asked if we could sit outside in the marquee as there were 3 tables and it was empty as it was tipping it down and she said no rather bluntly. As far as I am aware support bubbles count as a single household? On top of that it was clear that there were other support bubbles eating indoors. She told us we had to sit on a outdoors table. She didn’t offer us a towel or anything to wipe down the bench or table. It was absolutely tipping it down and we were soaked through. The food menu was great however. Lots of choice and reasonably priced. We sat outside getting drenched while the marque still remained empty for a good 25 mins. We had ordered food and drinks and decided to sit in the empty marque as it just seemed absolutely ridiculous. The hot chocolate wasn’t great, a bit like puddle water but nice to have something warm. We came to Cardinham mainly to stop at the cafe, which normal serves the most incredible food - however things clearly have changed. The iced latte was not iced, and also had quite a disgusting layer of film on the top, suggesting the milk had been left out in the heat. My friend was unable to drink it, it was that unappetising.I also felt £3.95 for a scone was a huge amount of money, but was even more disappointed to find that it got me a teaspoon of jam and the scone crumbled immediately. Just so disappointing with what is normally delicious food. They would also benefit from doing something about the wasp issues. We had to take our food back to the car after being bombarded with five/six wasps. There are so many options of how to set humane traps - I know this is an issue as it was a problem the last time we came. It really spoils the atmosphere and enjoyment of being outside in such a lovely scenic area.

Having visited near by Lanhydrock, we had planned to visit Cardinham Woods and have lunch at Wood's Cafe. It was an excellent decision.Due to Covid, you had to queue before being served at the hatch. Service was timely - yes you had to queue but they had systems in place to get people served as quickly as possible. No-one got impatient. There was a good selection of lunches and cakes. The lunches came in 'fixed' boxes i.e. you couldn't ask for things to be swapped or taken out. But that kept it simple and helped with the service. The three of us had the special of the day: bacon scones with cream cheese and bacon jam. It really did look like a cream tea!!!! It was unusual and very delicious. My husband and I had the blueberry and white chocolate cheesecake for pud and my mum had a generous slice of cherry Bakewell tart. All homemade and all wonderful.Everything was served in cardboard boxes which could then be recycled. It was just wonderful - highly recommend.

Visited here with my son and our dog and ordered (eventually) a savoury cream tea for two. When we arrived I saw the board outside had nothing written next to 'Food wait:' so assumed there wasn't a significant wait for food...queued for 15 minutes to order and once I had placed the order, was told it could take 15-20 minutes. I should have left then, but thought as I had come so far...The pots of tea arrived straight away- fair enough, but with a 20 minute wait for the cream tea, meant that it was finished by the time the food arrived. After 15 minutes I asked a member of staff how much longer our order would be and sure enough, it appeared. It was a lovely savoury cream tea, generous portions of chutney and cream cheese and delicious scones. However, common sense tells me that it shouldn't take that long to put two scones on a plate- I appreciate that they were fresh, but nevertheless, I have waited for less time in restaurants for a fresh steak than we did for two scones. As our food arrived, a family near us with a toddler and a baby cancelled their cream tea order as 20 minutes was too long a wait. This cafe is in a wonderful location and the food looks great- but you really need to sort your service out!

Visited in early January and we visit everytime we go to Cornwall. From the sandwiches to the cakes everything is amazing. In particular the Cream teas. They are the best we have had in Cornwall. The cafe has such a warm feel ,perfect finish after a long dog walk. Can't wait to come back.

Always come back to Woods. Either popping in to get a coffee to walk around with. Or collapsing on the sofa after a walk. Love that they have oat milk available and are dog friendly!

Just been to Woods for the second time and it was just as good. The food is what really makes this cafe special; it is all home made and absolutely gorgeous. I had the beef stew and it was delicious!

I visited the cafe after a walk with 2 babies in a double buggy. It was quite difficult to fit through the door. Took a seat by the fire which was really lovely. I was a little disappointed that no one came to offer to take my order from the table. I was struggling with 2 babies, there was only one other group on there and there was plentiful staff. In the end I had to leave because one of the babies was crying inconsolably and the staff were really helpful at getting me out of the door with my food and coffee in takeaway pots. Bit of a shame they weren’t as helpful and friendly while I was there as when I was leaving... Once I got to eat the cheese scones, they were incredibly nice! I would definitely return for these again, but maybe when I’m baby free.

This is a great cafe - lots of seating outside, most of which means you can keep an eye on your children in the play park, and not too cluttered inside despite being small. The food was sensational; I had heard great things about it and it didn’t disappoint! The sandwiches we had were amazing - I had sausage and caramelised red onion and they were lovely sausages, it was delicious! The children’s meals are great - the sandwiches come with carrot sticks and other healthy nibbles. There are lots of toys in a box which really helped keep the kids quiet at the table. I’d highly recommend for everyone; my boss even had a business meeting there a while ago!

We were going to beautiful Cardinham Woods for a nice winter walk with the family. This cafe had been recommended to us and we were in for a treat. We all had cream teas outside in the crisp cold winter morning...beautiful crumbly scones with clotted cream and jam with a good pot of tea. Lovely setting beneath the woods, and a great way of re-charging the batteries after a nice walk, or as we did, filling our bellies first before trying to walk off the calories afterwards with a long walk in the pictoresque woods. The inside area is not that big but lovely and cosy. Highly recommended!!

After our walk with the pooches today we had a welcome break in this café. Coffee all round and shortbread biscuits. All very good and served with a smile The coffee was a little pricey for a large cup so we opted for the regular. Other than that we had a cosy chat on the comfy sofa’s and enjoyed the atmosphere.

The setting of Woods Cafe in Cardinham Woods is idyllic and the quality of the food and service was outstanding. I had a ploughman’s lunch which was beautifully plated. The cheeses were excellent, the bread very fresh, and the salad and homemade pickles were outstanding. My wife had a slow cooked steak sandwich (it may be called something different on the menu!) which by all accounts was delicious. Orders are placed inside, with customers giving their table numbers. This makes for an efficient and easy ordering process. My Lavazza coffee arrived promptly, and as food is freshly prepared for each order the meal took a little longer. I was very surprised when one of the staff came to apologise for the “length of time” that it had taken to bring my meal and offered a complimentary refill - I hadn’t felt that the service had been slow at all and consequently didn’t feel justified in taking advantage of the offer! Well done Woods Café - from two very satisfied South African guests!

Although a little over priced, this cafe serves a variety of very tasty dishes - from sandwiches through to homemade soups, ciabattas and much more! Lots of choice if your gluten free and vegan! Perfect after getting lost in the woods!

We came here for a nice walk in the woods with the dog and then came to cafe for a coffee, the drinks were ok but we thought the cakes were a bit dry, apart from that it was ok but very busy.

Lovely lovely place. Lots of choice of where to sit: inside; outside undercover; outside by the river. Food on offer spot on for post walk refreshments. I had pulled pork in Baker Tom ciabatta with bar-b-que sauce and coleslaw; Barney (cockapoo) had a sausage roll. Also had a sakted caramel hot chocolate. Delicious. All of it. Friendly staff. Great surrondings.

We were looking for a nice stop on the way back from the Lizard to Hertfordshire, read the reviews of the cream teams and thought it would be a good stop. We were not disappointed! The cream tea was incredible! The setting was beautiful and the customer service was fantastic. Would recommend this as a stop if you’re travelling but also worth making a journey to. The walks in the surrounding woods looked lovely, but sadly not enough time to make the most of it.

Stopped here for lunch after completing the Zog trail. There were lots of outdoor tables to choose from, both in the sun and shade to suit everyone. Despite a queue out of the door, our drinks and food arrived quickly. Our pulled pork sandwiches were delicious, with tasty homemade coleslaw and dressed salad leaves. The only thing more delicious was the ice cream we had afterwards! It was perhaps a little pricey but the food was definitely worth it.

After a lovely walk we stopped for lunch which kind of progressed into afternoon tea as well! We did a walk with friends we hadn't seen for a while, and so it was natural that we spent a long time chatting and eating, The lunch menu was good our party enjoyed the pulled pork and ham sandwiches. We progressed into afternoon tea of cream tea cakes and scones. All in all a great afternoon spent in a really relaxing atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional.

I found this place due to the great reviews on Trip Advisor, and I'm sure it is if you have plenty of cash. For a regular fella on a budget, over £7 for a cheese sandwich is pretty excessive. If you're minted go, if on a budget - don't. Pop into Aldi or Lidl in Bodmin then munch on cheap treats in the woods (which are lovely). I just had a cuppa tea in the end....

We called on our way home had a fabulous cream tea, walked the dog through the woods, service was good, food very good and staff friendly. We also noticed some DIY bbq's by the stream, quite a few of them. Would be great for bbq and a paddle for kids. We will be back. Excellent.

After a brutal ride around Cardinham Woods (Hells Teeth is a killer!), decided we needed sustenance. Halloumi fries, Quesadillas and Brisket sandwich. Where to start? Fries tasted homemade served with onion jam, amazing. Definitely homemade quesadillas, fantastic flavour and plenty of them, but the best.....brisket sandwich. OMG...to die for. Loaded with meat and spicy sauce and all served with fresh salad. Great tea in mugs, coffee and soft drinks. You're missing out if you don't try them. Free tap water and plenty of water bowls for dogs too.

Amazing cream tea......and this was after a delicious lunch (1 x sausage sandwich and 1 x pulled pork ciabatta). Ridiculously delicious cream tea with 2 huge scones, one regular scone and one fruit scone. Also really good home made blueberry cordial and lovely, friendly staff. If you visit Cardinham Woods you’d be foolish to miss this absolute gem.

Had a welcome coffee and brunch following our walk around the forest. The staff and food were excellent, although the signage outside could do with being a little more explicit, as it was unclear if they were open and only trying the door did we find out.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
