My son and I decided to give the newly refurbished Woodman a try. Wow . Firstly a lovely clean and welcoming atmosphere Food was served within a short time after ordering and was delicious .and all the staff were very polite and cheerful. The outside garden at the rear is amazing . We will be back soon. .

Really enjoyed it here. The salt and pepper and chilli chicken was lovely. Much better than I expected. Service was good too.

The pub looks nice but it was very cold with no heating on. The barman Thomas was very friendly and nice. However he was on.his own, serving drinks and taking food orders. Having to make the coffees and take them to the table. It meant customers waiting a long time to be served. The pub was quite busy and so understaffed. The coffee served in tiny cups was not very hot especially after adding cold milk. The food was very nice and reasonably priced.

First time visiting here since it re-opened following the refurbishment. Interior is much better and a lot cleaner. We had 3 soft drinks and 3 Sunday lunches ( 2 beef and 1 turkey) total cost £51 so not cheap by any means! Meals arrived piping hot, roast potatoes were nice, peas, carrots were also good but broccoli was under cooked. There is a serving of cauliflower cheese that comes in a small pot this was disappointing the cauliflower was also under cooked and the sauce was tasteless without a hint of cheese. There was a generous serving of beef but on mine well over half of it was inedible as it was fat and gristle. When asked if our meals were ok I did point this out to the waitress who said she would tell the chef and that was the last we heard about it 🤷‍♀️. On the whole I would not recommend here for Sunday lunch. ☹️

Came for a meal Thursday, pub lovely beer ok can't say the same for our meal, starter bought out with the main, not even the starter we ordered, our steaks were as tough as old shoe leather and half the chips weren't cooked through. A huge disappointment.

Food and service was excellent, Saffran who waited on our table was very efficient and extremely polite.

It’s been a long time since we visited this venue, after seeing that it had a major refurbishment we decided to give it a try. Staff were extremely helpful and polite especially Saffran who waited on our table, food was very well presented and tasted great. We gave it 4 stars as there were only 10 people in the pub as it was early but there was a table of four ladies who were very loud and were constantly swearing at each other. As they were sitting directly in front of the bar I expected someone to have a word with the group. Don’t let this put you off trying the pub as this group will not always be in and we will certainly be going back.

First visit since the refub and lovely it is too. Menu offers a good and varied choice. We had food from the lunchtime menu, which was superb value for the money. Highly recommend is the Halloumi with hot honey, in a wrap. Bar staff on arrival were very attentive, sorry didn't get his name, and our server Tom was very friendly, polite and helpful. Looking forward to visiting again.

Lovely refurbished local pub, so nice to see it busy, decor looks so nice, this was very much needed for the community. Staff were very attentive and polite. Food has improved, will definitely be coming here more often.

It was a family birthday meal with my daughter and Grandchildren. My husband and I had a meal in there the day it reopened and thought the food was nice and good value for the money.

After a £650,000.00 refurbishment I came into this establishment on its day of re-opening. I can safely say that the investment was well and truly needed. This is now one of the busiest pubs in the whole of Wolverhampton.

Excellent Sunday lunch, beef rib amazing. Staff very attentive and friendly. Prices really good. Can’t wait to see it after the makeover.

Good food friendly staff good atmospere good pub grub not overpriced but the price of the drinks make it to some a over priced meal for familys where drinks are dearer than the food.

I can't understand why the Carlsberg lager is 80p dearer than the Harrowby arms 2 miles away.

Today we celebrated twenty years since we first met, so wanted a nice lunchtime meal out to celebrate. Hadn't been to the Woodman Inn for over five years and have to admit we were pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely superb, with everything cooked to perfection, in fact my wife said it was probably the best steak she had ever eaten, which is praise indeed. I had the Halloumi flatbread with Tikka sauce which was extremely mouth watering. The side dishes of chips and onion rings were perfectly cooked too. We finished off with two ice cream sundaes that had Mars and Maltesers pieces in them. If you have a sweet tooth I can truly recommend those Sundaes. The staff in there are extremely friendly, really helpful, attentive and really make for a welcoming atmosphere, which is really what you want to celebrate a special occasion. The prices are extremely competitive, so will certainly be returning there again.

Haven't been to the Woodman for quite sometime, but after recommendations from a friend I decided to take my family there for a Sunday teatime treat. Will we go back again' Yes most definitely...Good food, reasonably priced with a great range of Beers & Cider. The Three lads that were working behind the bar and front of house were a credit to the Pub, very polite & attentive...nothing was too much trouble. Thanks Guys for a lovely afternoon.

Great food. Great drinks. Great staff. Couple of things out of stick but that's not a big deal. Alternatives were had and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Tandoori Temptress burger is an absolute must, wow. Will definitely return.

This pub is a little gem. The food is delicious and exceptional value for money with various deals on offer most days of the week. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We have been coming to this pub, off and on,for over thirty years and have never been disappointed in either the quality of the food on offer or the friendliness of the staff. If you're in the area and looking for a welcoming place to eat where good quality, tasty food is served and the assurance of excellent, friendly, customer service, then there is nowhere better, in our opinion, than The Woodman at Codsall.

Poor menu choices for Vegetarians. Staff are brusk, when asked about menu. So we left. Dog friendly but not welcoming to all people.

Been a regular for a number of years now (9 ISH) and seen GM"s / staff come and go but can honestly say the current staff members are spot on! All helpful, friendly and IF any issues will resolve straight away. Fantastic team and believe a new GM is due after losing Dom who was a FANTASTIC GM ! Lets hope the new GM carries the positive momentum on 👍🏼

We love the Woodman, Jo the barmaid is always very welcoming and friendly and goes the extra mile. We forgot to order a starter for our daughter she sorted out in seconds, no drama. Great service.

Went for a birthday meal with my family, the food was delicious and the service was quick. Staff were very welcoming and polite.

Recently came in with my husband for some cheeky midweek food as we didn't want to cook haha! My god I'm glad we did, from the service, to the atmosphere to the food - just beautiful. Will definetly be coming back.

Great food, 3 year old fussy eater finished everything 🎉. Staff friendly. Above review just under a year ago Not sure what happened but went to the woodman inn today and food standards have slipped I ordered a ribeye and was mostly fat and tasteless... My daughter had the chick n mix and left most of the chick as it tasted like cardboard and was dry. Please do something about the quality not good when your local goes down hill. Staff friendly

Been a while since I have been to the Woodman but I was pleasantly surprised. Service was good and the food came out really quickly and when it did it was also delicious. Went again and not as good as the first time, no burgers available, staple food for a pub like this so was surprised. Table sitting near were swearing and being rude so not really recommend it you have small children.

Absolutely a lovely evening. The atmosphere was so welcoming. Food- hot and well presented. My ribeye steak cooked to perfection, mixed grill lovely. Staff were happy, cheerful and couldn’t do enough. We will be back!!!

Popped into the Woodman Inn on Sunday, part of Greene King. Pretty quiet for a Sunday especially with football been shown. Ordered turkey carvery via the Greene King app but told that the turkey was gone so opted for beef instead. Only £8.49 for the meal and a cup of tea for £2.19. Food was good though meat seemed very square shaped. There were only 2-3 vegan main meals available on the menu. Service was reasonably quick. Gents was a bit smelly though looked clean. Plenty of TVs on the wall showing the footie.

The Woodman has recently changed management. The food is great and the service is excellent

Popped in with a few mates to watch the football and had a friendly atmosphere. Never met the boss before but he made a point of coming over to introduce himself. All the staff were also very friendly. Only had a light meal but it hit the spot and tasted lovely.

Having been here several times over some years, we expected the same standard and service. Unfortunately we were very disappointed on this occasion. The three of us ordered our meals which were all different. One had Hunters Chicken, another had Steak and ale pie and the third had gammon on a skillet. When the meals arrived the gammon was not served on a skillet missing the onion rings, the Steak and ale pie the pastry casing was to thick and dry. As for the Hunter's chicken well what can I say. It was ordered with mashed potato which looked greenish the chicken breasts was in fact one breast cut in half with a very small amount of cheese and barbecue sauce. It was returned as it looked extremely unappetising and not to the the description of the menu. When I asked a member of the staff for some mustard I was told that they had run out as well as the onion rings. One ordering further drinks they had also run out of lemon's. From a replacement meal of Steak and ale pie, beans were ordered instead of peas but no bean's arrived on the dish but peas. For a pub of this size and being very popular the standard has greatly dropped even under new management. This destroyed the whole evening as in previous visits it has been excellent. To make matters worse there was also a power cut.

We popped in for lunch today. I had Fish and Chips, my husband had the Vegetarian Garlic mushroom and cheese tart. The meals were on the 2 for £11.99 menu. Amazing value and good portions. The fish was exceptionally nice, so fresh and lovely thin and crispy battered. Both meals came out quickly and were served hot! Honestly couldn’t fault it. Lee who brought out our meals was attentive, nice and polite. Shall definitely be going again.

Positives? The two staff serving were great, very polite. That's the good bit over with sadly. The food took a long time considering the place wasn't busy and the best I can say about it would be that it was edible, the "signature" Jamaican chicken stew looked very little like the picture, there was very little effort made. None of the sliced spring onions, chillies, peppers as described, was just some tasteless chunks of chicken in a rather stodgy brown gloop. We added peri peri sauce to it to give it some moisture and taste. No-one came round to ask how the food was so I didn't get the chance to talk about it to a member of staff until we had eaten (we were very hungry and didn't feel like running around trying to find staff) and I'd paid, the guy behind the bar apologised and said they had recently had a new chef. An excuse we've heard before. It's just lucky for the pub that the nearby Chinese takeaway was closed last night or we would probably have left the food there and then. New (old) management, same old issues unfortunately.

Havent used this pub for visited some time, but good menu and food was served well, good portions especially as on a deal Staff pleasant. As a Wed and early evening, lounge was quiet. Only thing that let it down for me was the ladies. The ledge and skirting behind the door really needed a clean. And perhaps toilets need a regular recheck. But on the whole a pleasant meal. We will try to visit again when in the area.

Have been going quite regularly, it's dead easy to order on the app and we love the 2 meals for £11.49 offer, not only is it a great price but the food is really good too! Always steaming hot and tasty Service is quick too!

We had a lovely meal, the food was fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was extremely good, staff very friendly and attentive, the ale was gorgeous.

Well done to everyone at The Woodman, a great location for my birthday party. All my friends loved it. The staff were excellent and it made for a very good night.

Food poor, but what can we expect for the cheap prices. Most disappointing was the Speckled Hen beer. Terrible! Took it back to replace with Abbott Ale. Slightly better, but left half of it and didn't bother to replace.

The woodman is such an amazing place to be. When looking for a pub to go to where the staff are friendly, their food is top notch and the locals are lovely too then the woodman is the place to go. They hosted an amazing competition and a karaoke that made it such a good night. Love Dom and Amy. So when you're next in the area make sure to pop in and show them some love.

Went to celebrate 83rd birthday.starters were lovely, wings, Main course, my wifes Scampi was lovely, I had Rump Steak which I could not cut with steak knife. Supposed to be med- well done, Waitress said " Sorry"

Decided to grab some dinner about 1pm as we were passing by, we ordered the millionaire’s burger, fish and chips and lasagne with a side of chips. All of the chips must have been yesterdays leftovers especially since we were one of the first people to order, as they were all brown, shrivelled and rubbery. The mushy peas were crusty and dry and the lasagne (or lack of as there was barely any there) was burnt. The best thing about the entire visit was leaving! Cost £40 for three pops and three crap small portions of food.
