Booked a table as could not get in anywhere else on a Thursday evening. Not been before so did not know what to expect. We sat outside on a lovely terrace with a gorgeous view. The menu was typical pub food with a number of specials. I could not my lamb and mint burger - good size portions and delivered hot. Great indoor soft play centre for young children - free with an adult meal. Try giving it a go if you want a peaceful meal in a lovely setting.

What a beautiful meal! It was quiet on a Wednesday night, but delicious food and excellent service ( especially from Chloe, on the phone and when we arrived). We sat on the terrace on a lovely evening and the service was great. Mussels, fish and chips and steak burger were all delicious. We will definitely be back x

Nipped in for some food today (Sunday) as we had spotted their facebook page. Really glad we did. The service was brilliant, staff really friendly and keen to do everything they could for you. Good selection of drinks and the food was really impressive in quality, value and portion size. We both had the brisket of beef which was delicious and a proper feast!!! We visit this area at least once a year and never knew about this hidden gem.....we will definitely be back! 10/10

Well all I can say is what a massive sh*t show!! Absolute awful experience! There were no staff there to greet you as you come in or to instruct you on what to do with ordering, wether it was table service or if you order at the bar. When we eventually just got fed up of waiting and just went to the bar ourselves as we realised no one was coming to us, the food took almost an hour to get to us, it wasn’t busy there either. The menu said £8 for a roast peppered beef sourdough bap with red onion chutney, what arrived was white bread with shop bought slices of beef thrown in and no chutney……no salad, no crisps……£8 for a completely plain sandwich with absolutely NOTHING with it, we were shocked to say the least!! When the waitress came to collect our plates, she asked if we were finished, she didn’t bother asking if everything was okay or if we enjoyed, so we told her how appalled we were with the state of our food and how honestly disgusting it was, she looked at us dead in the eyes, gave half a smile, and walked off, she didn’t say a word…….absolutely disgusting service, disgusting prices and even worse food, would NEVER EVER recommend, especially not to families!!

We went for our anniversary meal with our family and as always were given a friendly welcome by all the staff and especially Nick and Nerys. All our meals were absolutely delicious but our bellies were beaten by the epic homemade onion rings... they were amazing though! Can never fault the place, staff or service. We had our wedding reception there 16 years ago, as did my sister's and other family members over the years. Always a lovely experience to go for a quick drink, meal or celebratory occasion. Looking forward to our next visit.

We came across this hotel by chance and what a delightful hotel. Very good welcome, by pleasant staff, though they were busy with a wedding display open day. We opted for the Fish and chips sourced locally. Good sized portions with mouthwatering fish with lovely crispy batter. Chips were well cooked and crispy as well. Too large portions to have a sweet.

Phoned to book a table for 12, a mix of kids and adults and told the chef would be unable to cook for us as there were too many of us! No recommendations of coming in early/later to accomodate - just a plain no, we wont serve you. What a way to loose business! And being local, will definitely be spreading the message!! Very disappointing!

We ate at Woodland's Hall while staying at an AirBnB in Edern. The staff were friendly and attentive, and service was efficient. As a vegetarian, choice of main courses can often be quite limited in hotel restaurants, but I had a good range of options and chose a Penang style curry that was excellent. Fellow diners were equally happy with their meals. Overall the price was reasonable and there were beautiful views from the grounds towards the interior of the peninsula.

Having reserved a table we arrived at 6:30 to find our table wasn't ready. We stood for 15 minutes waiting to be seated and needed to ask for the table to be cleaned again. The menu looked appetising and was extensive giving plenty of choice for our meal. There was no table service so I went to the desk with our order. I was met by a young lady who greeted me with a sullen face and grunted responses. She clearly did not want to be there. I then had to go to the bar to order drinks where the member of staff was much more friendly. We waited around 45 minutes for our starters which were very disappointing. After our starters we waited another 45 minutes for our main course . Other guests had already left without having food. I must say that the guests who left probably made the best move. None of the food we ordered was particularly appealing and it definitely didn't meet the expectations set out in the menu descriptions. Had it not been for the fact that 50% of our meal was being covered by HMRC I would have come away feeling robbed. Even after the 50% discount it was over-priced. Not once were we asked if things were ok with the food or service. Some of the staff could do with a period at charm school although I do appreciate it must be demoralising dealing with complaining customers on a regular basis which I am sure is something they have to do. Won't be rushing back.

This place does what it tries to do extremely well. The fittings are out of date, and it has the air of a knackered 90s golf club, but the food is passable, and for a family of five with a screaming baby, the combination of great facilities for kids with a very friendly lady in charge means that we'd come back here happily for a no-frills evening out.

We went to Woodlands Hall Hotel - Gwesty Plas y Goedlen/The Orchard - Y Berllan – in Edern for tenth wedding anniversary celebration with the family, have been dying to find a reason to go there and sample Chef Nick Grimes cooking which we had heard so much about. Some reviews say its dated but we went for the food and the atmosphere was great. Well we were not disappointed, we were given a lovely greeting by his wife Nerys ordered drinks sat at our table to study the menu and the specials board. We ordered our food with variations as we have a couple of fussy eaters in our family! Settled down and the food arrived on proper hot white plates, for Starters we had the special of: Ring of black pudding with bacon on top and then 4 king scallops on top of that with pepper sauce – absolutely delicious; Tandoori Chicken on skewers (if we are honest a little dry); Battered squid rings and sauce (if we are honest chewy and overcooked) – but they did take this off the bill and apologised after all we all know sometime things do go wrong so this was brill; Pan fried Halloumi with cherry tomato jam a lovely touch and also delicious. For Mains my wife had the Double pressed pulled pork with crushed pots and that the Wafer was in fact Pork Crackling – massive portion and very scrummy mummy; my daughter had Baby Rack of Ribs WOW again a massive portion; my son had Cheesey Pasta Penne (the fuss pot) all the other ingredients left out like tomato etc he really enjoyed this; I had the special Red snapper on roasted peppers (which gave it a sweet flavour) and sliced potatoes again a huge portion; we also had Homemade Vegetable Lasagne which was very cheesey; and the Homemade Beef Lasagne also a great choice. Naturally as it was a celebration so we had to have desserts and all elected to have cheese cake of differing types from their massive selection. Great service, reasonably price, brilliant food and even the chef came out to see if everything was OK which of course it was. It was very relaxed and quiet (set in its own grounds. The Hotel has a children’s play area for families with younger children. The Woodlands is definitely worth as visit – suggest you book and we will definitely go back there to try the Sunday lunch which si supposed to be very good. Thank you Nick and Nerys, until next time, thanks for a lovely celebration meal on an auspicious occasion, check out their menus on their web site for other dishes.

Hidden away down a country lane the setting of this hotel is lovely. Lots of trees with seating around. Lovely entrance conservatory perfect for sitting chatting and admiring the scenery or as I was on my own to sit with a coffee (or something stronger) and read a book or peruse the many leaflets of local attractions provided. My room was a small twin allocated at no additional cost from the single I had booked. Very comfy beds with nice linen. All usual facilities - en suite shower room, tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer etc. A good well cooked full breakfast was served with choice of cereals fruit and toast. Lunch and Dinner Menu's were innovative with a range of choices and beautifully presented. Nice choice of wines by the glass to accompany and desserts were to die for. There was a separate children's room which had a large indoor play area for little ones. Outside was a huge grassed area (field really) with outdoor seating and some play equipment. From the dining room a nice terrace provided outdoor seating which led led down to the playing field. All the staff were lovely very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and never felt awkward even though I was travelling solo.

We enjoyed many good meals out on our recent holiday in the Llyn peninsula, but this place was way below the general standard. After reading the reviews here we decided to give it a try, hoping that the food would make up for what was badly lacking in atmosphere and appearance. Sadly the meal was as dismal as the surroundings, even though we waited a considerable time for the food to be prepared and there was no pressure on the staff (the place was nearly empty). We definitely should have paid more heed to the warning signs and less heed to TripAdvisor.

We ate here twice over the bank holiday weekend as we use to visit regularly many years ago and friends had recently recommended it. The dining area has had a huge extension added at the back to include an indoor children's play area and there is also an outdoor children's play area. The hotel is set in a lovely woodland setting (hence the hotel name!) In the peaceful village of Edern on the beautiful (weather permitting) Llyn peninsula. The food is not overly expensive (around £12 for a curry/lasagne) and there is plenty of it and a varied choice of menu and is freshly prepared so there is a bit of a wait after ordering. Well worth a visit, also seems to be dog friendly as we were greeted by 3 spaniels on our way from the car park.

I was looking for late notice accommodation near Abersoch and found the Woodland's Hall Hotel. It is 13 miles from Abersoch but being on the north side of the peninsular it was considerably cheaper than the hotels in either Pwllheli or Criccieth, and well worth the short drive. I stayed in room 7, which was very comfortable and quiet. I was made to feel very welcome. The Woodland's Hotel is much more than a restaurant and wedding venue. As my title suggests, the facilities are fantastic and very under advertised in an area where there's not a lot to do on a rainy day - brilliant soft play area and outside park that my 3 and 5 year old children loved. The food took well over an hour to arrive which was a pain when first orders were at 6, we waited until well after 7 for the meals to arrive. The kids meals were fine, as you'd expect from a children's menu (all deep fried with baked beaks). The main meals however were the worst we've seen in a long time. We ordered fish and chips off the specials menu, the fish and chips seemed fine (aside from the hairs we found garnishing the plate) but bizarrely, they were served squashed onto half the plate, the other half consisted of a dried up finely chopped pepper salad, a rehydrated wedge of lemon, some horrendously sweet mint pea mush (NOT mushy peas or puree), some coleslaw with a skin on and a shot glass with what I suspect should have been tartare sauce but lacked any of the flavour or ingredients of tartare. Consequently, my husband and I were up for the night in a rather grim situation on a camp site... no need for further details! PLEASE Woodland's, sort out the food as you've got the potential to be fantastic with such a great place!

We were lucky enough to have our wedding at the Woodlands on Saturday the 20th of June, and I only have praise for the food, service and overall atmosphere.Firstly, Nerys was just divine and went out of our way to make our day as special as possible.Secondly, The food was out of this world. I had a lot of foodie guests and was very concerned a about meeting their high standards, which were surpassed! All said they would eat there again in a heart beat (remember we had over 90 guests eating and each praised the food!).Thirdly, the kids loved every second of the indoor play area, the park outside and how lovely and kind the staff were to them.Basically, If we were to do our wedding all over again, the first thing we'd certainly do is book the Woodlands as our venue. They even let the hungover bride and groomhave their breakfast late!!!Thanks Everyone at the Woodlands for giving us the wedding we always wanted.Ceri and Aaron Lewisxxx

Having heard rave reviews from family about the food, we ventured out on Saturday, April 12th, 2014. Ordered a starter and 3 main meals. Sat down to wait and waited and waited for an hour for the starter to make an entrance. 20 minutes later the main courses arrived, my daughter and I had ordered the battered cod and chips and pureed peas. Well what a disaster, the batter was over cooked, a dark brown and hard. Chips of the oven ready variety were either over cooked or raw. No pureed peas. No one ventured over to ask whether we were happy with the food and when we left there was no one around to complain to. The meal and drinks for 3 of us cost over £50.

awful room ,dead spiders hanging in webs must have been there ages! bathroom door would not shut, toilet lid broken. shower not working, was informed that I could use the room above for shower if wished, no one came to mend shower while we were there 3 days! tiny flies found in sink and behind curtain in bathroom. The bathroom floor creaked and the décor was dated, ceiling in bedroom was peeling and a tiny television was perched on top of the wardrobe ,the whole place needs updating. woke the first morning to find that we were the only ones in the hotel doors locked, no lights! no staff! no breakfast, it reminded me of the movie The Shining!!!.apologies were given(over slepted) the breakfast were poor and scant orange juice for the children, none offered for adults, choice of only 2 cereals altogether the worst breakfast I have encountered for a very long time .On the plus side the staff were very friendly and nice and the indoor play area good I cannot comment on the bar meals as I did not feel like eating there after sampling breakfast!

My partner and I have eaten here a few times, both with and without our kids with us.The play area is good for kids of all ages and our one year old loved playing in the ball pit area thats suitable for smaller kids.It says on the website they wont sacrifice good food for time, be prepared to wait a while, its worth the wait though.

Just had a fabulous week at the Woodlands. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was first class and the owners and staff very welcoming. I recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to North Wales.

It was a bit quiet, but as the only guests during off peak this was to be expected. Staff were helpfull, even with last minute changes. The rooms were large and spacious, even if the decor was a bit old fashioned, and were clean and warm. The food was very good.

Good for family atmosphere, food a bit average but reasonably priced, not top of my list. Friendly staff and a place for kids to play.

Visited Woodlands hotel for a late lunch and opportunity for the children to play in what they describe on their website to be a safe environment. Ordered 3 steak Burgers with steak chips onion rings etc etc etc and 4 childrens meals. Bread had been defrosted so was soggy on one side and very dry on the other... so dry and hard you couldn t eat it. Taste of burger itself was disgusting - very vinegary and not right. After a word with one of the owners to ask what was in the burger and explain it was awful and that I'd have to leave it... she had the good business manner ( NOT ) to say it was a chef special recipe and 'OK' if i wanted to leave it. All 3 burgers were left - even my husband's meal!!! My son left his kids burger, other son left rather spicy sausage for a child's meal and most of the chips which were over cooked and crispy to eat. Children s play area was nice but 5 minutes into their play there came the shock news that they were closing for the afternoon.... lights out and a rather impolite reply when asked for the lights to be switched back on for us to use their toilets...... no wonder it's quiet there. Pick up your socks guys... you can t treat guests like this and expect them to return......

Ideal location for children's parties - soft play area, good children's menu, great service - not tried the main restaurant yet but will do one day.

We stopped here for lunch and sat outside looking over the harbour with a great view of the bridge. The service was very good and the staff welcoming and friendly. We soon had our lunch which were freshly made sandwiches with salad and crisps. Delicious! Glad to have eaten here and enjoy the lovely views!.
