Woodins Shades in City of London, Westminster

I attended Woodins Shades on Thursday 6th December 2024 for a works do and had a brilliant time! The pub has a great vibe about it, the staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We were there for a Christmas do, so they were catering for around 40 people, which is demanding in itself, we were upstairs on the first floor. Food was served promptly and hot, it was tasty and well presented, with decent portion size. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout, checking if there was anything we needed including further drinks. When I left for the evening and came down the stairs, the pub was absolutely buzzing. This is the first time I have been in Woodins for a number of years, but it will definitely be one I will be visiting more regularly when in the City. A huge thank you to all the lovely staff for making us feel so welcome and looking after us so well, we had a great time!

We visited here for a few drinks on a work night out. The pub was pretty busy but we managed to find a table. The beer tasted good and they were flowing all night

One of many pubs around Liverpool street. Normally pretty reliable for sport, beers are always reasonable, staff were a bit off when I was asking if rugby was going to be played....but hey busy I suppose

Went on a night out with friends, good atmosphere, good people,.but as someone who lives outside of London everything is expensive.

El último pub en nuestro día de Victoria & Shoreditch. Este pub estaba animado un sábado por la noche con algunas buenas canciones de cangala de fondo. Casi terminamos nuestras pintas antes de saltar en un taxi negro y volver a descansar con la cabeza cansada (directamente en el piso del taxi en el caso de James).

Ten minute wait at the bar. Rude and sullen staff, and despite being asked to pay first, not one but two (ale) beers then discovered to be off, leaving me with no choice of drink. Nowhere to sit. Go somewhere else.

Service not so bad but clearing not so good very few customers at the time but plenty of empty glasses on the tables

Good atmosphere but slow service

A great alternative to Hamilton Halls or Dirty Dicks

Pub nothing more. The waitress didn't know her menu and everything we asked for wasn't there!

Absolutely terrible food! We had a roast chicken dinner (far from cheap) - the roast potatoes were frozen, the stuffing balls were frozen, the veg consisted of frozen parsnips, 2 stems of ‘very wilted’ overcooked broccoli, and undercooked carrots. The best thing on the plate was the Yorkshire pudding! Would never go there again and if I could have given ‘no stars’ I would have!!

It was a good experience in woodins. I went there at 7.30 pm. It is two storeys building, I went to the dining . Dining is very nicely decorated and plenty of space. I ordered beef shin pie. It served with gravy, carrots, mash potato. It was so delicious, shin pie is topped with crispy pastry. The service was so good. I got my food on time. Hope I will visit woodins again to enjoy the delicious pub food

Popped in here for a drink after a long day visiting London. Perfect location for a nice cold Cider or two before getting on the train to head home. Nice pub, good Cider.

I was here at 8pm on a Sunday evening and it was quiet. Despite that it took time to get served which was disappointing. This pub has a nice decor and is spread out on two floors. I opted for a 12yo double Balvenie scotch at £10.60. They did have four casl ales. The downstairs toilet was closed so I had to use the unpleasant upstairs toilet with it's wet floor. They do offer food although I did not eat. This is a nice pub, I will give it another go and hope for better service.

Visited late lunchtime so the crush had dispersed. Popular pub so expect a crowd at busy times. Sandwiches come with fries chips or salad so be sure you're hungry.

Ali served me today. She was so friendly and welcoming that in made the whole experience better. We had fish and chips and it was amazing. Would definitely recommend to friend.

Food (from what we got) was excellent. Such a great traditional London experience. The service was the worst I’ve ever had a restaurant. We waiting over 45 mins for our dessert. With barely and communication from the 2 female servers. When we told them we were going to leave, and we would like to pay for our meal and just not the dessert(which we never ended up receiving) they were somewhat rude and didn’t understand. There we others in there that were having the same problem. They weren’t super busy, but seemed to not have things organized or ready. I would suggest going somehwhere else if you need a traditional London meal

Husband ordered steak on Friday night and got food poisoning. The steak was overly seasoned and I’m wondering whether the chef was masking it being off.

We had a great time here; the staff were friendly and it's a nice outdoor seating area.

Prices are too high for the portions, 9 for a small slice of bread with an egg on top and 4 for a small Coke, really not worth it, still hungry lol

Best English breakfast I’ve had in a while. Pairs well with a Spanish lager

Fish & chips are good, but the fish is thoroughly saturated with fat. Decent beer. Bathrooms to be renovated.

We went to the front of the place at 11 in the evening, even though we did not drink any alcohol, they said you are too drunk, you cannot enter. We thought about whether it was full, but 5 people entered after us, we need to ask them how they can decide this. It was a little rude and disrespectful.

went for dinner 10.8.2024 went upstairs and sat and read the menus - nothing happened - after 20 minutes asked the bar staff who then said you have to order at the bar and they are too busy for table service. and if you order food it is a 30 minute wait. forget it there are plenty of other places locally. have been before and it was good. they need staff who know their job and can understand you. downstairs was not busy and staff should have been directed to help out upstairs with the food.

Popped in after I finished work for a bite to eat. The burger was delicious and the service was quick and Tracey was fab. Will be back again.

Fantastic venue just to meet up with friends for drinks at lunch or evening drinks and to have lunch/dinner all so with family in the upstairs restaurant. All the staff are welcoming and you also get served quickly, the management team are an always there to help. Great on a Saturday night when they have a live DJ at the venue. Also they are taking bookings for parties and for Christmas lunch.

What a lovely pub. My friend and I popped in there yesterday. We had drinks and food. The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and the service was top notch. Would highly recommend.

Ordered food as part of a large group. Rest of my table were served their food and I waited patiently for my food. After about half an hour nothing. I asked at the bar and after speaking to two servers they finally admitted they hadn't ordered the food. No apology, they even tried to suggest a communication error on my part! Wouldn't recommend their chaotic service.

This is a popular pub in the area. We sat upstairs which is much nicer than downstairs. Service was friendly and helpful (got table service). Ordered the sharing board which was good for two people (the others had already eaten and recommended the pies). Each of the components was tasty. Especially the duck croquettes. The padron peppers weren’t too big and had a good coating of salt. The chorizo was decent. Overall I liked it and would go back for a pie.

I went there today with my friend's to watch the England game and a nice lady named Maiya served us quickly and efficiently whilst always having a smile on her face.

Went here for England Vs Switzerland and had a great time. The time for drinks and food to arrive was swift. One employee, Maiya worked well and efficiently to bring our drinks and food over and was so kind. We had a lovely time and the atmosphere was top tier.

Meet up with my 'old' district nurse colleagues for lunch 2-3 times a year and we always come here. There are other places but nice and quiet upstairs so we can hear each other, nice selection of food, and staff always great. This visit was no different. Luis was so lovely. Coped with our staggered arrivals, and checked out gluten free options with the chef for one of our party. Thanks Luis. We'll be back!

Went there for the England v Switzerland game and it is one of the best pub experiences I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was great and service was very quick, specifically a worker, Maiya. She was very quick with serving me and my friends our drink, despite the crowded area she would manage to collect glasses without trouble and overall she was very polite

Don’t visit pubs too often however this one had a cool atmosphere. I was a bit indecisive on what to order but maiya was really patient with me which I greatly appreciate 😭 She made the experience really nice, I think I found my go to spot!

Such a lovely pub, child friendly too. Had the pleasure of meeting Ellen (manager) and she goes above and beyond. The food is so tasty and always a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend popping in. See you again soon.
