Wood Oven in Barking and Dagenham

Went there for my baby turning 1 and iftar. Was running late, so told them to get my food ready for when I get there which they did do. The food was amazing, the best Turkish I had in a while, even the drinks were on point, just was missing fizz. But then closer to the time of going home my partner and baby were looking out the window and she had touched the window (as a baby would do) one of the waiters came to my partner and asked him not to let the baby touch the window and that she has made the window dirty. This was very upsetting as she is only a baby! That had ruined the rest of our evening and experience of choosing Wood Oven to dine in.

Food was too salty , meat was so chewy and hard not tinder . Overall food was not good , ambiance was good. They took almost 30 min to prepare after that lamb was so hard and chewy and salty . All excitement gone .

I just had dinner with my friends. I am very satisfied, nice service, delicious fresh food and good atmosphere! Thank you very much, I will come again! I recommend to everyone!

Food was good and the inside environment was so nice. But they just took only cash, it’s so annoying. I don’t know why most of the restaurant owners doing this. Nowadays most of the people don’t carry cash with them. Because of those restaurants owners, we need to go outside to withdraw the money after finishing food. It’s so stupidity. They should allow both cash and card. They couldn’t force the customers to give them cash instead of card payment due to the reason that they can give less tax and vat to Government. Government should do any particular rules due to this kind of harassment to general public.

I think the food quality is good but the portion size was disappointing. I don't think it is good value for money

Food level and service have massively gone down. Prices are gone up. No more complimentary tea and sweets. Always takes cash - no card payments. Won't recommend

Baklava was old and disgusting. Stored in a pizza box and tasted spicy and was soggy, had to throw it away after a single bite. Feeling sick. Huge hygeine concerns for this place.

Stuff very welcome. Portion for 4 people could feed 6 people. Prices fear.

Excellent meal and good service

Excellent service. cash machine is inside the restaurant so easy to get cash, the food was first rate and staff were brilliant and everything was 5 star treatment. Will definitely come back for more and the staff treat you like your a film star. Triple AAA rating from me guys keep up the good work.

Restaurant run by Turks in the center of Barking. We were full on our England adventure. Food kebabs are amazing. The appetizers served on the side are also great. And on top of that, Turkish style tea. What more?

Food was very delicious, service was quick, i was surprised when they said they dont Accept cards . They have an ATM machine inside the restaurant from which you have to withdraw cash and give it to them .

We are coming to this place since 2017 and we never disappointed. Staff is very friendly and the food is very tasty. Price is good for value. The payment is always with cash and they have a cash machine inside which is not problem. We will come back another day for a lunch or dinner with the family.

Worst experience in my life, the food was disgusting and the meat overcooked almost burnt plus it had a funny taste, to many condiments on like they tried to cover that the food was old( run out) and so expensive, for to small bottles of water £7. You can buy them from the shop with £1 both. Never again.

I took family and friends for my brother birthday, but the rice was 1 or 2 days old, literally the rice was gone off. Staff was really friendly but it was all ruined.

Ordered a take away, chicken shish medium was ok but 4 pieces of chicken. Lamb shish was really chewy and had 5 pieces but only one was edible. Lamb chops fine and veggi kebab was ok.

We had a nice welcome, which was lovely. The waiter was very kind to direct us quickly to a table. However, the food was not appealing. There were 3 of us, but they only gave one small serving of bread and salad. We were meant to eat the bread with mayonnaise as opposed to humous. My aubergine said it comes with salad and rice. I got the rice, but the salad was apparently the salad we initially received with the bread. The waiter was very rude when we enquired about the salad as I am a salad lover. We were very disappointed. The chicken donner was not spiced up, just served as it is. All in all, the experience wasn't worth the money we paid. I am NEVER going back.

It was my family’s first visit to the restaurant and after reading previous reviews I was a bit sceptical but the service was even better than the food. We ordered two large doners one chicken, one meat and one extra meat medium doner. The chicken was nice but the meats flavour was a bit strong not particularly my taste but my husband enjoyed it, the bulgar, rice and cacik were all tasty as well as the complimentary bread, tea and baklava. I would recommend buying medium as large and medium were nearly the same portion size. All the staff made sure we was comfortable and have everything we need. Ozan was quick to help when I informed him that the meat was not to my liking and kept both my girls entertained. He bought lollipops to the kids and and even did a cheeky magic trick. I would definitely be returning and Ozan even promised to do up the salad the way I want it next time with extra pomegranate dressing and some sumac! Lovely friendly staff, service and decent priced Turkish cuisine. Elek(I’m sorry if the name is wrong) was also very friendly and bubbly, she was smiley and polite. The restaurant was clean and quite presentable too!

The smiling face and sincerity of the people serving the tables, the Turkish-speaking friend who I guessed to be the head waiter, and the Albanian girl waiter who served us could not make up for the salt in the bulgur pilaf and Adana kebab. Even though I paid the meal fee because I was invited, it was because it was close to my shop. Since I didn't recommend it, I behaved like a guise in front of my son and my ex-wife, in order not to disturb their peace and the peace of the customers and employees in the restaurant. I ate the food even though I was cursing and forcing some of it. I ate it. This must be the price of paying close to £70 and getting a lot of food. Of course, I will not give up going, I am writing this with the expectation that the owner of the place will read this comment. Someone needs to remind the chef that people should not add so much salt to the food. It is difficult to write these here as a tradesman, but the purpose of this platform is to warn the others and make them take precautions, there is no bad intention here.

just outstanding service. there’s restaurants that make it known from the door you aren’t welcome there because they too busy or something. this dude welcome us with open arms practically pulled us in, politely, smiled, smashed 5 tables together for us 20 and served the f out of us. the staff circled the tables regularly without bothering us. just a great experience. their lamb soup was likely best very tender, reminds me of romanian tripe soup. will smash again when in london.

My wife and I went to the restaurant to order takeaway. The staff and the chef are helpful, given us different choices to sort out our need. The staff are friendly. The food is amazing.

The food was delicious. The wood oven special platter was cooked to perfection and the service was first class.

Kinda pricey in comparsion to other restaurants nearby but absolutely tasty! Soft meat and perfectly seasoned. The portions may be a bit too small for some people but for me it’s definitely enough. You can only pay with cash and since we‘re from Germany, we didn’t have any pounds with us. The waiter was super friendly and we were able to pay with Euros :) Would recommend!

I was there Tuesday night and great food and the manager was great. Although some of the waiters were clearly annoyed that I had come in about an hour before closing despite the fact I was finished way before official closing time. I also saw the other waitress behind the bar look over disapprovingly when people were still there about 30 minutes before closing. The waiter was visibly annoyed with another table and even at one point did a chit chat sign with his hands basically saying the other table are talking way too much and should just leave. Sets a really bad vibe and I felt very rushed , given Bill without asking and coming over to collect drinks even before they're finished. No tip left for this reason . Shame as owner and chefs are great just rude and unwelcoming waiters/waitresses.

It was really good ! The meat is exceptional, I particularly recommend the marinated lamb skewers. The staff is friendly and intentional, thank you for everything 😋

If anything it seems like they rely on the convenience of being in a busy area a bit too much as I don’t see them pushing for that 5th star.

Ordered chicken platter for £50. The platter was meant to have doner and we had no doner on it. When asked the waiter he it our fault why we didn’t mention earlier. First of all we thought it probably was underneath the rice and also if something is missing it’s the restaurant duty to let the customer know instead of not serving it at all. The waiter did apologize the behavior did not reflect that. I was really keen to try this place for a while however really disappointed.

Very very good place!! You can't go out without still being hungry 🤯. No matter what you order you will get free Turkish bread, sauces and salad! I recommend the BBQ lamb chops which were succulent.

An East London gem! Homey decor, generous portions, attentive service. All that along with the outstanding Turkish cuisine. Possibly the best Turkish food we’ve had outside of Turkey (and we’ve had quite a bit around London). Thank you for taking good care of us.

I wanted to eat barbecue. They recommend me plate for £45. I took off and was surprised that there were not the ribs! It were only bones without meat! Kebab and chicken were good. But too little. I didn’t want to order rice as well! But it was with rice! So, for £45 you will have a lot of rice, bones, good chicken and a little of lamb. And red sauce was no fresh at all!!! Maybe , because there is too hot. Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures, because I was so shocked! I read the reviews and happy that I didn’t sit in the middle of restaurant! It would be much more expensive for me!!!

The Restuarent is a shady one. They don’t accept card payment and even says they have cash machine inside the Restuarent forcing customer to pay cash. They are just doing this not to pay VAT. Good is very pricy and on the top they are not paying vat by charging customer cash, that means a very greedy owner.

Good Turkish restaurant right next to Barking station. If anything it seems like they rely on the convenience of being in a busy area a bit too much as I don’t see them pushing for that 5th star (over 1000 reviews on here and they average exactly 4.0). Food was tasty and reasonably priced, decor was pleasant if not inspiring. It’s a bit annoying they only accept cash, but if that doesn’t work for you they have a free to use ATM inside the restaurant(!) and allow direct bank transfers. Nice venue and a great selection of food. Staff friendly and helpful. Prices a little high and can only pay with cash but there is a cash dispenser in the restaurant which is very helpful.

Hugely disappointing. Gave this place a go rather than my usual and regretted it. Vegetarian kebab was nice (but flavourless) but was not aware that you had to order rice separately - hate it when restaurants do this. Salad could have done with onions. Halloumi was soaking with oil. Won’t order from here again.

To begin with, the waiter was pressuring us to order the food and when we finally ordered, he began to treat us badly just because we did not understand his accent very well, he told us that we were stressing him out and whether we knew how to speak English or not. One of us told him that he was being rude and he didn't care. The worst attention I have received in a restaurant of that "quality". I wouldn't like to call it racist, but that was how we were treated in that place.

The waiter was super rude and all of a sudden started criticizing our English. The waiter with big beard should be fired!

I spotted this restaurant yesterday when walking to my hotel in torrential rain. I decided to call in today on my way back to the hotel, and so glad I did. Excellent service, hopefully only quiet because of my timing, and food that was delicious. I can heartily recommend this restaurant.

Very disappointed by the experience visiting this restaurant. We order taramasalad but we got no complimentary bread. We had to ask 4 times for the bread to eat our starters and between 3 people we got only FIVE SLICES of bread. We asked the staff for more but we never got eany. For dinner we took a shearing platter for 56£ and we good a massive pile of rice and bulgur and a bit of meat. What we got it did tasted ok but it's not value for money. The staff priority was the Turkish clientele and then others. I will not go back there again. There are other better places to spend my money and be treated fairly and equally as a customer.

We went for official lunch, they increased the price recently thats why we just asking them why so expensive. Unfortunately because of this they served us very badly. We used go there frquently but we dont think we will go ever again. As a customer we have full right to ask for price. Not every customer by born rich.

Top notch Turkish restaurant. We shared three mains: lamb chops, chicken wings, and sea bass fillet. All were cooked to perfection. The highlights amongst the meze starters included the aubergine and the mushrooms. Service was attentive and efficient without being intrusive. No photos of the food, as we were focused on eating it! But I did find a moment to snap the decor!

Mouthwatering flavours. Stomach and hearts content. Do try their platters which has a mix of everything.

Won’t go again. Only dined here because of a painful lack of choice in Barking. Only told cash only once we’d sat down and ordered. Ridiculous. Put a sign up that clearly states that before people make the choice to enter or join 2023 and accept card. I don’t care about your ulterior motives. There’s a freaking cash machine inside the restaurant. That…is frankly bizarre. The prices are exorbitant and one can find restaurants of far higher acclaim, better quality of food and service in central London for similar prices or less. Where do you get off charging such ludicrousness. Next, the service. I found the staff barring a lady server to be somewhat phoney, bristling with attitude and uninterested. And when asked if I could have some ice with my drink, he returned with what can only be described as two snowflakes. Food, not too bad but not at all worth the cost, not even close. I really can’t understand how this place is in business. Do yourself a favour and go to a kebab shop.

Amazing food and service, really good charcoal flavor and delicious aroma. Generous portions- we ordered tamara and falaffel, the creamy chicken and the lamb, they we're all to die for.

We went here for a family get together and considering we had quite a few peoole with us including babies we had a great time. The service was good, friendly and looked after us during the whole meal even with some nuisance customers in the resteraunt. The food we got a variety of food and all in all it was very tasty. Mixed grill was great lots to try and good flavour on most of the meats although I do feel it was a little to much rice that filled it out but that's a minor detail. Bread kept coming throughout the meal alongside chilli sauce and garlic and all were as you would expect nothing fancy but good flavour. Tarama was nice and the salads were really good with lots of flavours coming out. All in all it was a good meal but made better by great service.

Loved the food- ordered the full platter, the meat was very flavoursome 10/10. Service was also 10/10, they were very friendly, and accommodating. I liked the atmosphere too. Overall, lovely experience, would come back again.

There are generally some good options, some special treasures, but they all leave you wanting more. Ladies and gentlemen, this is it. This is the one. This is the place you've been looking for. Fancy a holiday in Turkey? Cancel it and come here instead. The level of attention to detail was incredible, the dishes constructed with absolute care, and the freshness... It was fresh alright 👌🏼 The staff were incredibly friendly, and very accommodating, and the chefs took every dish to the next level. I had to try it all, I need to come back again and again. If you're looking for something special, great value for money, and an absolutely incredible taste sensation, an explosion of flavour, a celebration of culture and cuisine, get down here immediately. This is as good as it gets, and it's bloody good at that.

Delicious Turkish food right outside Barking station. Absolutely HUGE portions. Everything was absolutely delicious. All the meat was so tasty and flavorful, I loved the chicken doner. great cocktails, a wide variety of menu options. I warmly recommend it to everyone who wants to eat full.

Delicious kebabs here. I'd recommend a platter as they are a sight to behold. Delicious bread and sides too! I would return in a flash and would make it a point to ask for the adani to be slightly less cooked - I like my meat a little soft. Rustom recommends
