Wongs Chinese Takaway in Leicester

Not ordered from Wong's for years, ordered as takeaway near my partners as stopping a few days, ordered a chefs special fried rice and chicken chow mein for both of us on 18/01/24, food just as good as I remember hmm better than where I live, was going to order from around the corner from partners, but decided to order from here a couple of miles away not disappointed taste and looks as good from a few years ago "consitancy"order very quick ordered just gone 5pm ish, promt service. Ps 5 star food hygiene 👍😉.. "Thank you for a tasty takeaway!"

Ordered the egg fried rice, which was completely bland, ordered the king prawns in black bean sauce; was watery and the prawns were soggy and tasteless. Also ordered the salt and pepper chicken which was disgusting. The chicken was dry and hard and there was so much garlic.

Never had sweet and sour sauce that was like jelly before, it did not have anything like onion or pineapple at all. Fried rice like a stodgy mass. Most went in the bin.

I ordered our takeaway meal at 17.40 it gave me a delivery time of 18.40 .. it is now 19.35 and it is still not here.. the restaurant are not answering The phone and I cannot cancel the order. .. disgusting .. never again will I use just eat or Wong’s

Very disappointing will never happen again. Not the quality qualified for a restaurant. Dont do the mistake to go there

50 years in this country, have chinese meal 6-10 times a year, ordered 4 different dishes toningh, One better than the Other, this was the best ever Chinese Takaway, , thanku Wongs, Cole

We have ordered here a few times (via just eat) and the food has always been delicious, on time or early and very fresh! Would definitely recommend! Beautiful food, thank you x

Ordered my meal that has hardly changed in over two year and got wrong meal. How on earth can they get House Special Chow Mein mixed up with House Special Fried Rice ???. No idea how but they did. Big difference between rice and noodles if you ask me. Sorry to say that after being a LOYAL customer for some time now they have lost me as a loyal customer. They offered no apologies and insisted we made the error. I will be looking for a new home delivery.

We haven't eaten from here for a long time but this was delivered quickly and the food was of good quality.

We used to eat at this takeaway for at least 20 years...the all of a sudden the interior in the shop changed, windows opened up. We thought it was a refurb. However, the Original owners are no longer present and it has been taken over by someone else operating under the same name. I am disappointed that the original owners let the new owners use the same name. The food is average, but that original Wong's taste is no where to be found.

Been using wongs for Years by far the best but not any more tasteless, greasy and hard chicken it used to melt in your mouth, the gravy was to die for but not now thick lumpy and tasteless will not be using anymore such a shame

So I last reviewed this takeaway 4 few years ago with a five star rating as it used to be without doubt the best chinese takeaway in Leicester. However like all good things they have to come to an end....... The owners have decided to take a well earned retirement after over 30 years and the takeaway has now changed ownership. We used them this weekend just gone and was a little disappointed So the menu has had an overhaul now looks like your usual takeaway menu shiney glossy type and i suspect at some point the business will change name as although the menu still says wongs at the top. they have also added "Jade Garden" just below. delivery is now offered but we collected as were unaware of the ownership change until we collected our order and we prefer to collect as we know our food is not left standing while waiting to be delivered. So upon collecting our order a portion of Egg fried rice was missing, this is the first time EVER they have got any of our order wrong and we have used them for around 24 years now, so considering this was the first time we had used them since the change of ownership and the only time our order has ever been wrong does not look good to start with. the rice was in the usual foil container however all other food is now served in the plastic containers which i dont think keeps the food as hot for the journey home. The egg fried rice was more greasy than it had ever been and was overcooked and clumpy but it tasted ok i guess. the chicken satay and house special fried rice dishes have completely changed taste the sauce in the satay is completely different and is now quite sweet and becomes sickley the more you eat. the food did not stay hot until the last mouthful like it used to under the previous owners, and was generally colder than it used to be. the menu now has many more different dishes, Which is not necessarily a good thing as it would appear the new owners are focussing on quantity and not quality. So under the original owners i would say the food was second to none but now under the new ownerships i would say less than average at best. Either way I wont be back in a hurry.

We have always had great food and service at Wong's. They are very accommodating with dietary needs and were happy for us to leave gluten free soy sauce for them and o use when we ordered. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

Tried this on the off chance last month and found this place to provide great service, great food and at such and affordable price too. Thumbs up!

I , like the other reviewers to date , have been using this takeaway for approximately 20 years. I eat regularly at some of the best chinese restaurants anywhere and can honestly say this is the only chinese takeaway I would use , except when they are closed or on holiday.

I've used this takeaway for around 25 years. The food is always top notch. Service times can be varied as they are so popular. But then you woud expect to wait for quality. Just lovely. Shame there is no delivery service. Would be prepared to pay a bit extra for this service because they are so good.

Best Chinese takeaway in the area. Over the last 15 years we have tried the rest but always return to the best. Food piping hot, delicious and well presented. Shame they don't deliver..... But then again that's my husbands problem!!!

This is without doubt the best Chinese takeaway you will find in the area, they get a 5* hygiene rating from the council, I have used them for the last 20 years and every time the food has been spot on, 100% order accuracy 100% of the time, Amazing quality food, piping hot even after a 5 min drive home, they don't deliver but I would not entertain any other Chinese takeaway.
