Wongs in Ipswich

Seaweed was awful, like a child made it. Fried greens covered in white sugar, 0 out of 10. Beef in blackbean sauce dry as dust, beef good quality but no sauce 5/10. Crispy belly pork, crispy beef and fried rice 10/10. Seaweed was a joke!

Ordered a wet vegetable chow mein was banging thank you, food was fresh hot and good size for the price ( how about a 8 UK pounds one in a bigger tub ) would have liked more vegetables, but was really nice and full of flavour vegetables where crunchy and well seasoned all round good job will be trying something else soon keep up the epic job chefs.

Lady serving was very pleasant, however they do only take cash. (Luckily there's a cash point at the garage). Wasn't offered prawn crackers like at my usual Chinese. Crab soup was delicious but the rice and chow mein were VERY dry. Won't be returning.

Had the special fried rice. Very boring and bland. Lots of burnt bits of rice in it. Nice chunks of chicken & ham though. Just all a bit tasteless. Doubt we’ll go here again.

Haven't been to Wongs in a while and I won't be going back. I ordered satay chicken main thing, and the chicken was gone off! The chicken choi mein was bland and mushy. The sweet and sour Hong Kong style was tasteless. So overpriced for absolutely awful food. I'd fire whoever is looking after their kitchen. Never ever going back.

Wongs used to be very good. We've not been here for a takeaway for a while. Unfortunately it was absolutely awful. Tasteless and watery. The sweet 'n' sour chicken hong kong style was nearly all carrots! Not good value, infact terrible. We gave it to our dogs! We won't return! There must be much better places!

Excellent food as always very tasty

2 mains and a boiled rice £20!!! Small portions too. When did takeaways become sooooo expensive. Boiled rice was hard and had obviously been sitting there for ages and the curry was inedible. The sauce was so peppery you couldn't eat it without getting hiccups. 6 prawns in the curry!. Complete waste of money and not remotely enjoyable. Won't be back.

Awesome food as always, can never go wrong with a Wongs.

Awful. Food was really greasy. Pancake rolls dripping in oil, film of oil on our curries and fried chicken looked like it had been fried more than once. This was really disappointing as previous meal had been very pleasant. Only went to Wongs as usual chinese was closed. To top it off, spent the evening on the toilet.

Worst Chinese takeaway we’ve had in sometime. Only ordered from Wongs as it’s local and our regular takeaway was closed. Small, overpriced portions and that taste far from freshly cooked. Crispy wonton almost burnt or cooked in very old oil. Crispy Chilli beef that tasted stale, also possibly cooked in old oil. Salt and chilli squid was chewy and tasteless. Sweet and sour chicken and Kung Po king prawn looked and tasted the same. Both were served with over cooked peas, carrots and green peppers in a sickly sweet and bright orange sauce, indiscernible from each other. The chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce was watery and flavourless, with the same carrots and peas and some bamboo shoots thrown in too. I suspect the chicken and veg were precooked then the sauce added as it went in the takeaway container. The same for the sweet & sour and Kung Po. The only thing that wasn’t entirely disappointing was the beef chow mein. The best part of our dinner was the egg fried rice my partner cooked at home!

It used to be value for money but now the containers have got smaller and the prices ridiculous you can’t pay by card which is ridiculous now really gone down hill

Absolutely disgusted. I asked for extra soy sauce with a chicken soft noodle but wasn’t given and the food was drier than sawdust. Took food back and the most rude and arrogant member of staff insisted she read my order back and I didn’t ask for it - I know what I ordered ! . After unnecessary arguing and arrogance she reluctantly agreed to do the order again. I said forget it - I know what I ordered just give me my money back. Horrible staff, rude, arrogant and poor service providing below average like warm food - AVOID !!!

Lots of gluten free options but the two dishes I ordered were bland and tasteless with very chewy tough meat. Expensive & cash only too. Unlikely to go back or recommend.

Used to be our favourite Chinese Takeaway (which we used weekly) but, although staff are still friendly, the food is now very greasy and oily making it no longer enjoyable.

Ordered 5 mains, only 1 was reasonably flavoured the rest was just bland food, with no flavour. Nowhere near authentic Chinese. Probably accustomed to sweet & sour chicken balls for the masses. Even the Chow Mein was dried out and flavourless. Not cheap either & cash only. Should be outlawed, are they paying taxes?

Lovely front of house staff and beautiful food

Our first time using Wongs , we phoned to place an order after looking up local Chinese who did crispy seaweed, the lady we spoke to was wonderful, explained that although it says online they deliver they actually don't, she gave us an alternative but because she was so wonderful we decided to place our order with Wongs & collect it. We ordered crispy fried seaweed Beef curry & rice BBQ spare ribs Chips Sweet & sour chicken balls & received complimentary prawn crackers. Once home & served we did not even think to take photos as the food was delicious, tasted authentic , generous portions, a taste & texture sensation to the point I ate more than I probably should have as it was exceptional! Highly recommend using Wongs if you want an old school traditional Chinese meal.

I've always believed a sign of a good Chinese takeaway is the fact they don't do any form of delivery and yet this place is still always busy! Great food every time!

I wouldn't even give them one star my dad went in to collect an order and when he stuttered the lady on the front laughed and said "did you forget your own name" and when confronted about this she first of all denied it all then eventually admitted it and said she can only apologise. Safe to say they have lost some very loyal customers and will be taking this further

This used to be one of the best on the town (my opinion). However the last couple of years I've been here twice and it's really average. The food is kinda tasteless now, hence why it has not been my go to places for years. The price does not reflect the food anymore as way too expensive. Also you can only pay with cash!!! it's 2022!!!

Chicken and sweetcorn soup average and very salty. Chicken curry - very basic and not authentic and lacking in any sort of flavour. Szechuan chilli king prawn - battered rubbery prawns absolute trash. Egg fried rice over cooked and did not appear to be fresh. How do they get away with it? Are people stupid? Or do they not have any taste buds? TAKE MY ADVICE - stay away from these quick draw c(r)ooks - you are better off buying ready meals from Tesco or Sainsburys and spend half the amount.

Walked in and looked around waiting area and kitchen looked very clean and nicely lit. My order was taken by a very friendly smiley lady, ordered BBQ ribs in sauce and BBQ ribs with salt & pepper. Had to pay in cash as no cards are excepted. Five of six minutes later order arrived. Away I go, when I get home 10 minutes later and took a bit of the ribs disappointment set in. Both container of ribs were tough and tasted stale and freezer burned. Tried several pieces but had to submit. Won't have the ribs again.

Luckily I phoned my order through to the shop. It was a Saturday night at about 5.45pm and was very busy. A friendly welcome and a slight wait for the food which was expected due to the queue. The food was of excellent quality and very tasty. I would definitely go back again.

Ive known for a while its not as good as it used to be but wow it really has gone down hill. The Singapore noodles tasted burnt and were oily. And the spring rolls??? Well I know that's what we ordered, but that's not what they are, dripping in oil and not sure what pastry they'd used and the only thing in them was beansprouts. Not worth the cost or the after taste.

Cash only... Which is crazy these days. My wife had crispi chilli beef and fried rice which was okay. I had King Prawn Curry and it was totally overwhelmed by Star Anise taste and I did not enjoy it. I won't get a take away from here again.

Amazing food, large queue of people outside of shop with many like myself told the order would be ready in ten minutes. No way to collect food orders in the warmer, you just have to wait whilst those ahead choose from the menu. Difficult!

Not very good. Edible, but too sweet. My order was wrong, unfortunately, but I suppose that can happen anywhere . Only use in emergencies.

Always fast and only 15min return trip to Woodbridge, handy when all the chinese take aways are closed Mon/Tues. Sadly prawn crackers are extra now almost £2 no matter the spend but thats the times

This is possibly the worst Chinese we have ever bought, I can't say eaten as most of it was thrown away!! Completely tasteless, greasy and a complete waste of £50!!!

Terrible food. Reheated chips from lunchtime, so hard and obviously re-heated. Why would you do that wongs? I had mushroom chow mein and it had two pieces of meat in (I do not eat meat) I had to throw it away along with two disgusting portions of chips. Waste of money. Wongs used to be the best but very hit and miss. We will be giving this a miss from now on.

We live miles away out in the country, but we don't mind driving a long way into Ipswich to get a takeaway meal from Wongs. We enjoy it so much and it is well worth the drive.

Our visit to wongs today was a surprise . Fthe spring roll was dripping fat suffice to say there was a desert spoon of oil in the bottom of the bag , the crispy beef was simply crispy , the ribs were either cool or stinking hot , the special rice was ..... Stodgy , the duck you had to shred yourself while your increasingly undesirable food got even cooler , the sweet and sour wasn't either with the sauce having a distinctive vinegar taste and so thin you had a job to coat the pork balls ........... I suppose the positive conclusion to our visit is that we'll never darken the doorway of this establishment again . Strongly advise people to keep away .

Ordered a take away this evening, arrived and they had got the order wrong so left the other 2 dishes on side whilst they re done the wrong dish, size of the dishes very small and the duck dish full of fat, also cold by the time we got it home, called them up to complain and was told they would give us 15% off next order!! There will be no next order, their prices not much different to Trongs and that’s where I will go again in future! All in all terrible and still hungry

I use Wong’s regularly, always really good, the beef in ginger and spring onions is really tasty, and shrimp soft noodle was very good. Never had bad meal yet.

Wow, this was such a delicious take away. We were in Woodbridge and everywhere was closed and Wongs was a pleasant surprise! The sweet and sour prawns were so yummy and the seaweed was perfect too. Very impressed and I will be returning.

We just got this takeaway from here and the food is disgusting and bad service so I will report them as there food is not nice and they don't answer the phone so we can tell them about so this is my views to everyone is not to order from here as you might get ill

Usually have good meals here. But tonight the chicken & chips meal was of poor quality. Chicken was small & hardly any meat on it! Usually large chicken pieces with lots of meat.

As takeaways go this is a really good option for Chinese. Always freshly prepared and the kitchens can be seen from the waiting area. Tasty and quickly prepared.

Have tried all the local Chinese takeaways but decided to drive to Wongs after good reviews... first visit was excellent with tasty food, fair prices, good portions and served in foil trays rather than sweaty plastic. After that visit, I thought "YES, that's our Chinese and there's a reason it has been running for 40 years"..... however, second visit was totally different as the food was tasteless, chicken was tough and pork was hairy. Inconsistent.

Normally go here but tonight the swat and sour hong Kong style tasteless chicken with no batter/coating really dry . Sorry as normally enjoy from here chips were good wouldn’t rush back after disappointing meal tonight
