Long wait, batter on fish was awfull

I've always loved the food at the Wolstanton chippy...always tasty and the staff are always extremely kind....I would happily go alot more often but my wife has this habit of taking my hard earned money (It's ok they all do that to us guys). Never had an issues at all over the years of going to the chippy..keep up the awesome work! I've been in here quite a few times this month and i must say the service has been incredible, the staff are friendly and the food is quick and tasty, the chips are amazing as well as the pizza and curry sauce. The prices of the food is a good price for a local chippy and it's a good choice if you're hungry but don't have alot to spend on food or takeaway. Another thing I must add is that when I went in today the lady remembered my order which made my night, I highly recommend this fish and chip bar if you're hungry and want a quick bite to eat. Excellent service 10/10!

We have multiple fried woodlice in our chips - DISGUSTING! Took them back to the shop, the man was vile and angry & chucked a £5 note at me! Will NEVER go there again. My girls haven’t been able to eat chippy chips again since this incident.

If it were possible to give a negative rating, I would! I ordered this evening for the first time and the delivery came as per the estimated time frame. On unwrapping the food however, we were disgusted... Donner meat and chips - cold and swimmingly greasy / Large fish in breadcrumbs with chips - cold and greasy fish, also cold chips / small fuss and chips "special" - grossly soggy and greasy batter and again, cold chips. When I rang, I was told "I cooked them fresh. I cook many and no one else complained." and then he put down the phone on me! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO PRIDE IN HIS FOOD. Needless to say, that chip shop supper went to the dog and we will certainly never use this chip shop again (and I use the term "chip shop" very loosely). Steer clear is my honest advice.

Ordered fish and chips, the fish was off, smelt horrible and also contained worms(see photos) . When questioning the owner her admitted there was a problem with the fish and had said ”report him and he’ll report the people he buys the fish from” Disgusting service and disgusting food. He continued to serve the fish to other customers!

I ordered and paid for a large chips, they wrapped this in paper for me and spent 5 minutes on the phone arguing with me that that’s their portion size and that’s their large. I don’t know in what universe what’s in this picture is a large. Mind you no chips were eaten from this, I had just unwrapped the package after wandering why it was so small.

I'm really disappointed. Purchased 2 fish suppers and spent just under £20. The shop itself is now looking really grubby and neglected. Their phone line doesn't work, you can't hear them at all & it's been like that for months. The female who served us tonight wore a headscarf that was absolutely filthy, covered in stains. The food itself was not the standard it has always been, the chips nowhere near as nice as they used to be, the fish was greasy and bland. I've supported this chippy for years, but sadly, it's quality has declined and I'm afraid i will be on the lookout for an alternative tasty supper. It's really disappointing as it has previously been the best in the area.

First time here and ordered chips cheese and doner myself and a few other bits for the family. All the food was smothered in grease and everything undercooked. The doner meat was mushy and nearly raw. Complete waste of over £20 going here. Never again especially when there’s a few good kebab houses in wolstanton. Can’t actually believe how gross the food actually was. Majority of it was binned saying people felt sick. I wouldn’t bother even entertaining the thought of the place if you’re reading this review

Think we have to accept these days that a traditional 'chippy tea' is not cheap ... you'll be spending best part of £20 for two meals and a drink wherever you go. But, this is the chippy I'll always spend my £20 in. Favourite.. meat/pot pie, chips, gravy... mmmmm everytime!

Called their last night had small fish and chips plus to sort out last Friday overcharging the girl who works there overcharged me by 95p i mentioned it to her it went over her head so watch out she doesn't you

Only tried the pizzas so far, but really good and really cheap. There are better pizzas out there for sure, but £ for £, they are the best

This place is grim and the people are rude, my boyfriend is a vegetarian and ordered chips and gravy, we started eating and he found a sausage at the bottom of his food and stopped eating, I rang up to let them know and hoping for a remake, they told me we ordered sausage while I’m looking at our order, then told me he didn’t put a sausage in the tray while I was looking at it, he said he’d look at the cameras (even though he supposedly made our order to check) and will call me back but hasn’t, rude.

Chicken is peng juicy first time having it second time was rank rock hard chicken delivery an hr n half wont be using again

Don't follow instructions which you leave on their website and call you a lier saying I didn't leave any. So either their website messed up or they did. Rude staff on the phone calling me a lier and put the phone down on me. 0 stars if I could. Oh and delivery was very late and also food was burnt 👍

I wouldn't even give 1 star if I could. Black hair found halfway through my chips lady said I will pass u to my manager, the man then answers refusing he's the manager after telling him what happened. Then tells me manager is gary. He refused to do anything and said sometimes it happens!. Absolutely disgusted with the manager and hygiene and he ended up putting the phone down and now they aren't answering!. Absolutely disgusted!.

Breaded fish has been soggy with oil last two times - guessing oil not hot enough

Would not even give this place 1 star if I could, we ordered 2 large fish and chips tonight. The first fish had several large bones in it and the second had what can only be described as a large piece of grit in it.... both got chucked wouldn't feed the food there to my dog. As I'm sure he values his teeth just as much as me.

Ordered food at the counter which was wrong once we got home . I rang them about it. They had written my order down wrong. Out of 4 orders only one was right . They asked if I'd ring back after they'd found the order. I rang back 5 minutes later and the lady I spoke to said they'd read me the order and I'd accepted it. That's fine, but there was still part of the order wrong . They took my number and said they'd ring back in 10 minutes. I rang them half an hour later and the owner said it was my mistake not hers and put the phone down. I went into the chippy as they'd put the phone down on me, and asked for a refund. They said I couldn't have a refund because I'd told then on the phone that I'd managed to sort some of the meals out so my family had eaten. The only way I can get a refund is if I brought all the food back to them. I said I would, but after walking home from there for the 2nd time , and running around after their mistakes, I'm giving up! Shocking service from the owner! I shouldn't have to run around after their mistakes!

Disgusting service! Ordered, paid for and was told delivery time-chased order 35 mind later and was told by a very obnoxious lady that they had no order despite having recieved our payment! No help was given and we were basically told it was tough and they wudnt help us!!!! I have 2 very hungry little girls and i am extremely disappointed and totally fuming! Will never use again!

The food was around 30 minutes late, so it took a total of 90 minutes from ordering to getting my food order. The pizza was stone cold. The fish and chips were a congealed mass and were also cold. The fish and chips looked as if they had been compressed in the plastic bag under some pressure. I also think the fat/oil they use has a bad taste and the smell puts you off eating them. Not very appetizing. It is a shame, since once I had thrown the food in the bin, the fish broke and it did look god quality. However, you should not have to put the food in the bin to make it look edible. A total waste of time and money. I ended up having toast. Very nice it was too.

every time I order from here they get the order wrong .i say I’ll never go back but end up returning a few months later .Im not sure what kind of fat they cook the food in but but it’s discusting and makes my stomach churn .

0/0 absolute diabolical worst order I have ever made.... the management team I have never had to argue and repeat myself so Much in one conversation. How unprofessional... Food was cold there was hair in the food.. Not to mention they charged £4.25 for a kids size protion of mix meat no chips no sauce salad nothing !!!! Then went to ask why he tried to argue with me and tell me its my fault !!! Disgusting establishment ....... ow and not mention that it arrived in grease paper with litrally oil dripping through the paper.... if I was you I would never ever order from there !!!! Its vile !!!! It just be shut down or needs the food hygiene professionals to take a propa look. Which I will be calling them to complain !!! This establishemt needs shutting down !!!!

Huge portion of chips which were undercooked and soggy and so much paper wrapped around and around them, that the paper stuck to chips and ended up throwing half of them away. And sooo greasy! Would be preferable to have a smaller, better cooked portion. And what is the food fried in?! Taste was awful. Breast of chicken decent size, but like dried-up old leather. Fish was undercooked and tasteless. The majority of our meal was binned. Was expensive considering the quality and was like throwing money away!

Nipped in here tonight for the first time ever as all my usual chippy's were closed. Chips done to perfection and fish is the best I've had in a long time and jist melted in my mouth! Definitely coming again!!!

One star to many! Ordered one pizza, 1 kebab, 1 chips, one piece of sf chicken and a chicken special at 6.15pm. At 7.20 this still hadn't arrived, i rang to enquire and was told that it was out with the driver for delivery. We live a 5 minute drive away. At 7.40 still no food, 3 starving kids and a growling husband. So again i ring, this time im told that it hasnt even been cooked yet! I was told it would be with me within the next 15 minutes and that they would send a free bottle of coke as a good will. WOW! Thanks. Food finally arrived at 8pm. If you can call it food. Kebab was stone cold and looked anything other than appetizing. The chicken was non existent... it was bone with sf coating and the pizza was from yesterday. No apologies. 20 quid up the swan. Needless to say. NEVER AGAIN. If you like wasting money and going hungry then enjoy!

Best fish and chips around. I went there to get the kids there tea, they had a good selection of kids meals and the service was very quick. When the kids got there food they ate it all and asked for more. Will definitely be going back there soon

We received our food and a part of the order had processed through wrong. When my housemate called to resolve the situation we were put through to a man who was so rude i cannot even describe. He refused to co-operate with us, telling us we were responsible for the mistake and not the shop. There was no reasoning with him and he would not come to any sort of compromise for giving us the wrong order. We were hung up on twice which is just terrible service and so rude, we have never been treated with such disrespectful, childish behaviour. I will not be ordering from here again.

Genuinely best chippy ever! We come here regularly especially on a Sunday for battered chips, and chicken kebabs are the best.

Chips can be a bit soggy but generally ok

We have supported the current management for a year now, and experienced mixed standards. Sadly, they keep re-heating unsold chips and despite being politely told, it seems they don't really take notice. Huge (unwanted) quantities are given but the quality sometimes as low as it gets. Been an English chippy user for over 60 years now so I think I'm able to judge! Just returned the latest meal collected .. and closed the book. If anyone tried it and found it OK, good - but we certainly wont be back. --

Probably the best chippy in the area. Food is always well cooked and the portions are gigantic. A really great place to treat yourself on the weekend
