Great place for fish and chips.

Would never go back chip's hard and dry uneatable at least the birds on wollaton Park had a look and walked by wait to see if the squirrels are interested not an April fool joke

My brother got me this chip cob from Wollaton fish bar. The chips were nice all be abit sweaty but the cob was squashed and falling to pieces it was that drenched with oil. Not enough sauce used. Should take better care wrapping and let the chips drain. Won't buy from here again!

Had chicken strips and chips as a lunchtime treat while in the area. Chicken was really fresh, chips were too, staff were efficient and polite. Definitely pop in again when next around 👌

The best fish and chips in the UK. I always order it without breadcrumbs and keep it that way.

Go here often but choose mid week, Fridays the chips often are a little underdone but they are perfect during the week

Only place to go when you want quality fish and chips

This is by far the best fish and chip shop in the Midlands. I travel 14 miles to come here for the amazing fish with perfect batter. The fish are huge too compared with anywhere else. The staff are all lovely too.

Excellent!!! been going here since we were kids. Haven't found anywhere better and I now live in Kent. Best kebab shop around. We come back here everytime we visit our parents in Nottingham. 100% recommend. Best kebab meat and chips there is!

Great chippy. Good quality grub. Sometimes a small fast moving queue because of high popularity which is a good sign in my book. Close to bus stops, Wollaton Park, Wheelhouse pub and there is usually free parking outside although limited at busy times. ☆☆☆☆☆ all the way 👍

Asked for salt and vinegar twice, but didn't taste it. Fish was soggy aswell. Won't be coming here no more!

Fish dry ( £8.50), chips soggy and undercooked....pea's dyed and soapy tasting.....has this place been taken over? Used this place before won't be using again.....poor quality .

I called in to order for collection. Two lovely ladies on the phone were so patient with my questions and getting the order right. Was ready to pick up by the time I arrived. They plate it up when I arrived to be sure they make no mistake with my order which I appreciated. When paying, my phone app to pay didn't seem to go thru but the gentleman Costas was kind to help make the payment system work to solve the situation. In the meantime, they put the food to keep it warm while the payment was sorted so they have attention to details also. I am grateful for their kind addition to the order. Overall I had a very good experience. The place was recommended by a friend as being the best for fish and chips from many tried. As a person who was convinced that there is no better food than the one cooked at home, I was surprised by the meal. Haddock was cooked all thru but not dry with a nice crunchy coat. I will certainly keep it in mind to go again there. Thank you for everything.

Bought fish and chips for two. Returned home to find my fish wet,grey and not as I expected it to be. The chips were soggy. Some year back the fish seemed suspect. I later returned and it was fine...for a time. Now,it's downhill. The meal went in the bin. Too suspect to digest. Who knows water it was a one off. Rather get something from the supermarket. Sad really

I have been using this chip shop for at least 20yrs unfortunately I went in tonight and order 3 cartons of curry sauce alongside chips etc. Clearly it was the end of the evening and they didn’t have enough curry to complete my order but instead of just saying so they instead took the curry in the back and massively watered it down to what was essentially coloured water. absolutely disgusting. It was the older women (owner) who did this and the young girl who served me could hardly keep a straight face. Unfortunately I didn’t realise what had happened until I got home. such a shame because always been a good chippy in the past. I won’t use again.

This is normally my favourite chip shop, I am very surprised at how bad the chips were. Did they change anything to make them go from the best to the worse?

I had chicken kebab meat and chips at and chips at lunchtime and I can honestly say and I can honestly say probably the best kebab meeting best kebab meat and chips I've ever had no grease no Greece at all fantastic meal fantastic meal

We ordered chips with two fish bites which were big and tasty,lovely food and wasn't expensive so will go there again whilst in the area next

Good quality fish and Chips with good portions. Nice friendy staff. (Note, I do know of someone who is currently working here and is well looked after). They now take credit card payments (Hurrah) rather than just cash. We go here more ofthen than the award winning Cod Scallops because it is local, good quality and reasonable priced.

Always good. Go in every Tuesday after football.

Chips over charged and dry. doner kebab hard gritty bits init greasy as hell small portion size chicken kebab dry made me ill soggy battered sausage never again went in the bin even my dog didn't eat the meat and that's saying something

We return to wollaton Fish bar and are very pleased to see they have stepped up their game, there is now card payments available and the friendly staff are giving grate portions again ! Best fish n chips in the area - no contest ! We always have to have a fritter with our fish n chips- they're fab!! Try their kebabs too. Good portion sizes and good food - we wouldn't go anywhere else. Very efficient and friendly staff. Even if there's a queue it doesn't take long to be served. Now take card payments over £5. Top place !!

The best fish I have ever tasted, moist, freshly cooked crispy light batter. The tater fritters are out of this world. I am a regular & so are lots of other people. Quick service from quality servers. Yum yum!

Excellent fish and chip shop and they also have some of the best fried chicken strips I have had. Been coming here on and off for 15 years and used to drive to get food here even when I lived on the opposite part of town. Do yourself a favor and try the chicken strips here!

Had to repeat my order 5 times, kept repeating it back to me completely different woman that served me was really rude was like she was trying to show off or something and food very average

We're regulars here but the annoyance that keeps cropping up is being charged different rates for the same things we order, 1 x large haddock and 1 x large chips £12.20 this time, seems the people on the tills depending whose working.

Dreadfully small kebabs and low rent sausages. I am not impressed. Also costs so much. Try elsewhere has really downhill.

*Update I have been informed by a contact who asked about the segregation of vegetarian items (eg chips) from non vegetarian items (eg fish) in cooking. They were told by staff that the products were cooked in the same oil. Now either they lied to me or my informant was looking to blacken the name of this fish bar. In my experience, often companies will lie to customers about segregation, so I'm inclined to believe my informant. However, if someone from the fish bar can confirm what the actual policy is, for all to see on here (Google Reviews,) I'm more than willing to change my stance. My Original, 4 Star Review Great that they cook the fish and chips in separate friers and use vegetable oil. It's a big thing for us (unhealthy) vegetarians. Good sized portions, too. Only one complaint is that the chips did seem a little over done for my taste. Otherwise, 5 stars.

As of 23rd July 2022 visited Wollaton Fish Bar, at 18:15. Very disappointing today. Used to be a great F&C shop,great quality and piping hot and good portions. But quality has gone down so has the portions sizes and MASSIVE price hikes. According to their online Google menu a large Cod was £4.90 now after calling them today is now £7.80. A small cod was £3.30 now and £5.50. They said the menu images on Google are wrong so why do they not remove them! Their large chips were more like small when opened so they have cut portions sizes, so the quantity and quality has gone down and prices have massively increased, large chips used to be £2.90 now £4.40, and peas also gone up from 0.90p to £1.20p. Also the small fish weighed in at 271grams and large was weighed in at 274grams, was told its down to the batter, what an excuse, just 3 grams difference between small fish and large, what is a medium size then 272.5g? The fish sizes also looked the same, will try and post pictures soon. So just a short time ago cost it cost £12.05p (bigger portions) today cost £18.80, that's a massive 56% increase. WOW Wow.... 😢😢😢 Cheaper now to go for a pub meal now. Won't be going again for a very long time, these places. If they have increased their prices and reduced sizing so substantially will not survive and close, so they need to watch out as people will vote with their feet as the cost of living tightens, as going out and buying a take away will become a luxury. Nearly £20 for 2 F&Cs and one small peas!! 🤔🤔 Conclusion - will NOT be returning back to WFB neither to any other F&c shops if this is the prices they are charging now, how much will it go up by too? Would rather sit down in a pub and get served for the same price or less as pubs are more competitive. On top of this the product was fairly cold, just warm..certainly I am sorry, will start to feel the pinch and go down hill, and they will get their karma as less and less people will purchase from them and other F&C shops.. Very disappointed with the re-fried and very oily chips. One time this shop used to serve the best fish and chips. Now it depends on what is left over and then re-heated and served to customers. Better to go to the newly opened Mother Hubbard chip shop near by.

Fish had no taste.chips were OK.

Had to wait for food to be cooked but that was a bonus, fresh and hot. Parking can be difficult. Busy at times. Food tastes great. Will return next time I'm in the area.

We have been coming to this fish and chip shop for years and it has never let us down. Just remember that it is cash only.

Not too sure if this was a specialty or not but if you do see this on the menu I would highly recommend their new spin off of fish and chips. Nay chips and fish ;D

Dry dead chips and the rest of the food

If you live in Nottingham and want a place to get the best Fish n' Chips in town then look no further than the Wollaton Fish Bar. The fish is just so worth the visit. Its literally all fish coated in crispy batter. Pleasant staff and very clean establishment that has recently been refurbished. Busy on a Friday night, but the wait time is not too long. On occasion parking csn be a little tricky, but hey its not the end of the world. They also sell nice Kababs, try the Kabab mixed special. Happy eating....

Below average taste, fish is bland and chips oily/salty. Nothing special, tastes like it’s all refried. George’s tradition is a better option for fish and chips

Good quality food, worth the drive

The owner Terry has been taking much time out and leaving his kids to run it. When he's there the food is great but when he's not it can be a different story. Dry untasty chips and chicken kebab meet that can taste soapy plus smaller portions. Never retire Terry!

Stopped in last week on drive home, but the shop doesn't accept card payments which is bizarre in 2021. Couldn't see a nearby cash point within walking distance. Might be great but will go elsewhere.
