Athena in Nottingham

Had the mixed kebab from here and it was amazing from start to finish I would highly recommend Athena to friends and family good food with good service

When you visit the chipshop they are really slow when you phone a order for collection they are really slow and when you order for delivery they are still slow really don't understand why this establishment is so slow they should not be doing delivery service for what I had it should have been delivered quicker and guess what it's only a Monday night . If it was Friday I could understand .don't think I'll be using this chippy no more and the food is really nice but can't wait this long for chips unbelievable.????sorry athena ..but you need to up the tempo .

Been coming here years foods always been amazing , unfortunately my last visit the quality of the donner meat is now very poor quality they have clearly changed suppliers for cheaper. Avoid the donner, chips ok thou.

Obviously last night's chips reheated! Dried up and not much of them. Penny pinching has lost them future custom. Won't be going there again, other better chippies in the vicinity.

Went in quite early lunchtime. Got chips wrapped. Got them home. Taste like left over chips from last night.

Food was okay and freshly cooked alittle wait.. Nice staff though very talkative

Really tasty fresh fish and chips, I waited for them to cook up and I'm glad I did as it was fantastic. Very nice staff, all smiling and welcoming. Will be there as soon as I'm in the area!

Absolutely amazing food 💯. Would recommend 👍.The workers there were extremely kind and the food was excellent ✅. I liked how there was a variety of different food choices and not just your average fish and chips! In my opinion, this is the best chippy in the area👌!

This place was nice when it opened.. haven't been in long time decide to go after work and wow it was shocking biggest waste of money iv ever spent, the server was fine but honestly if I was eating in and seen my food I would of got a refund I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone I would of been better of just giving my money to the people outside aldi because this food went straight in the bin, never ever again will I go there

Two times I’ve come to this shop, The same person has served me both times (a lady in a vans top today) and both times when I’ve asked for salt and vinegar she hasn’t put it on. Both times she’s served me in a rude manner without even smiling or trying to be kind. I do not understand how she is working at this shop. The first time I ordered she told me that I should’ve asked for salt and vinegar and I replied that she asked the other people in the shop if they wanted it so I assumed she too would ask me (which she didn’t) today when I came in about 7pm, I specifically told her 3 cheeseburgers all with salt and vinegar and one with sweet chilli sauce, after repeating the same thing several times, she was still incapable of doing what I asked for. All the other staff in there are lovely - bar this one woman. I hope you teach her some basic customer service skills and simple listening skills. Aside from this the food is always tasty

We are quite a distance away but on the night nothing seemed to be available. So we decided to order, not sure if we could with the distance. The quality and service here was great and the food was still warm! We like to try new places but think we will be sticking with this one!! 5*s we used Uber but think we will be going direct in futures seeing that they have a website.

Ordered a couple of times now & loved it both times. Ordered on the website & collected at the arranged time. Food was freshly prepared & tasted great. Staff were lovely too. Will be returning :-)

Discusting attitude from staff because they got my order totally wrong so I received 2 bags of chips and a sausage for £26.90

Highly recommend. We ordered today and it came on time and was red hot . Was well presented in its own box . Was delicious . Sorry to the delivery driver , such a lovely lady with a big smile but had no change . Will tip next time , I promise .

Partner has just been after not going for awhile. And wished he hadnt. This used to be a nice chip shop, but since the previous owners have left its gone badly downhill. It doesnt matter what time of day you go the chips always look old and are bad

avoid if you can or youll loose your money and time. ive put an order on uber app for pick up. when my partner was in restaurant he been informed that he need to wait because the order was not ready and that was about 30min after ive put an order. after 15min food was ready to pick up and my partner paid by cash as normally. on next day i find out that i paid twice. try to contact with Athena but opening time on web/ internet its not real. drop an email to uber and has been told that my monet not leaft my account and everything will be back to normal after few days. now i find out that there was a transition for the same amount ofmoney what i paid on collection. i never had a problems like that before but my account need to be closed after ill get my money back thats for sure

Ordered though Uber Eats but all the food was Stone cold.

Food nice but service is poor and you don't get what you ask for- have visited twice recently both times me and my partner both had mixed meat and chips and first time only got chicken and the second only got Donna meat with almost no salad

A bit slow but that is because they cook the food (fish and chips at least) to order to keep the food fresh. Great of you don't mind being a little patient.

Had chips and peas the other day and it was barely edible.

I ordered some Fish, Chips, Peas and a Roast Chicken, the food was amazing I would definitely order from here again. My food was a bit late but a member of staff from Athena Fish Bar had the decency to ring me an apologies and inform me that my food was on its way. When delivered the driver was friendly.

Placed an order bank Holiday Monday after checking on the website and the website stating it opens at 11.30am including bank Holidays. Order went through, money went out my account, received order confirmation and collection time. Got to shop at stated time, and it was shut. Waited another 10 mins and no signs of it even opening. Tried phoning, no answer. Sent an email and still received nothing back. So I'm almost £10 down and had to go hungry whilst at work due to having no more money on my bank card, and wasted my lunch half hour trying to get food from here. Very unhappy.

Tryed for first time after new owners and all i can say lovely !! fish was so fresh got told its never frozen which is excellent and the donor meat and chip was fantastic will be back.

Ordered yesterday. Didn't butter the bread properly. Its putting marge / butter on bread! Easy. If you can't be bothered to give me the respect as a paying customer I'll go elsewhere.

Only half of our order came which wasn’t very hot Sent someone else’s order instead of the cod and chips and then told us to keep it When they sent out the cod and chip the fish was soggy and had to reheat it in the oven

Food was late, when i rang 20 mins after delivery time i got told it was out for delivery then 30min later it turns up! Was a regular customer at athenas but not now....at least val and bill got deliveries done on time! On the plus side the delivery guy was polite and couldn't apologise enough!

I placed an order tonight and waited for along time. So decided to ring up to see if our order was on its way. And found out that the person who delivered it had given my order to the wrong address and they said that they had taken the order and eaten it. So all I'm going to say is i won't be ordering from them again

Always supported Athena, when it's good it's great. Uncooked chips went in the bin. What's the point of sending them to people in that state? Just too inconsistent.

My usual place for kebabs wasn’t open for lunch so went for this place. Pleased to say I wasn’t disappointed, in fact, this is my new go to place from now on. Order was 30 mins early but received a courtesy call to see if this was ok which it was. Kebab was really tasty , nice n friendly delivery driver. Spot on all round, thanks 👍

ive been on liquid food since 5 sept last night ordered chicken kebab,,,omdays fantastic tonight cod,,chips sausage gravy,,,,,best ive had even from here im now on my way to eating solid food delivery person was very pleasant 100% recommend and thank you so much

First of all your food is hot and fresh, but your personal hygiene standards are very poor! No hair nets , no beard snoods, false nails, false eyelashes, not wearing gloves, no mask/ visors, makeup and some members of staff wearing are Inappropriate clothing. it’s not good to walk In and see this when my dad and I work In a food environment

I was kept up to date with my order via text message, and the fish and chips were great.

They were very quick with the delivery, but not to the detriment of the food. It arrived hot, and was one of the best kebabs I've had in a long while. The kids loved their chips, they must have as they all got eaten! Thank you, I'll see you again

First time I used them. I had large cod which could easily feed two people my missus had a kebab which was really nice and the chips mmm.

Food is decent. The only problem was that the lady preparing our me kept touching her hair! They didn't have hair nets, hats or gloves. I think that in this currently pandemic their hygiene levels should be stricter

First time ordering here and I’m very disappointed the whole order diddnt taste good at all the pie was dry the gravy was lumpy very thick the peas were hard in the middle the chips wasn’t to bad and they sold me a bottle of coke cola for 1.50 and when it arrived it said 1.29 on the bottle I’m very disappointed and won’t be ordering here again

Really good Fish & chips! Haddock was delicious, batter was crisp & light and not at all greasy, chips were well cooked and really tasty & the curry sauce was spot on. Restaurant were really on the ball, I accidentally ordered small cod instead of small chips & they called me because they realised it must have been a mistake - thank you! Will definitely be ordering again, very impressed.

Wow if that’s a small fish and chips I can’t imagine what a large would be. Generous portions of all. Tasty and hot and delivered on time although seemed a long delivery time but definitely worth the weight.

Food was cold kebab meat was hard and dry and the bottle of coke was the wrong price on the app it was £1.50 but the bottle said £1.29 watch the price they are ripping people off

I placed my order around 6.30pm and the delivery time showed as 7.20pm but on the confirmation it had changed to 7.50pm which I was ok with but it still hadn't arrived by 8.10pm so I checked the order status and the delivery time had changed to 8.40pm. When the driver eventually arrived around 8.30pm he was very apologetic. The meal was well worth the wait - the large fish would have easily fed two people and the two regular chips would have stretched to 4 or 5 people. It was hot, delicious, better than expected and well worth the wait.

The fish was very large and thick but the batter was cooked outside but not the fish side it was a bit soggy. The fillet burgers were great. They are very generous with the portions. Only problem was the order came with missing chips phoned up and advised would deliver ASAP. Then noticed missing curry which I paid for at door at the 1st delivery cause I left it off of order and phoned up to add to order. I then tried to phone to advise missing curry sauce but the phone was continously engaged. Was waiting for chips redelivery but did not think they had been delivered so i called it a day. Went outside approximately 2 1/2 hours later when daughter leaving house to find chips on doorstep. Had received no notification that it had been delivered. I have no idea how long the chips had been outside. It had rained sometime and i don't know if the chips were outside at the time. Whilst the chips were outside anything could had happened to them. When I found the chips I put them straight in the bin. The delivery driver has been great previously and always knocked to let me know that the delivery had been made. Not sure what happened on the redelivery.
