Came here to work and use the ‘pub desk’ facility. Really friendly staff (who can’t do enough for you) nice quiet area to work and great quality for £10! Access to WiFi, plug sockets and parking is available. Would definitely recommend!

They hardly had any food on the menu, no steak, no mix grills, hash browns changed for waffles, not great.

Friendly welcome, helpfully directed towards the dog friendly area, quick service with good food. We were really well looked after. We were really well looked after by the team (including Liam, Daisy, Emily and Claire). Hash browns in a chicken burger is also an absolute game-changer! So good we went back the next day for tea again.

Staff are very accommodating, if they can help you they will, service with a smile too. The view over the countryside is lovely, and the place itself has loads of character. We will surely return!

Hadn’t been here for a good few years, since it was a 2 for 1 pub. Thought we’d give it a try. I wish we hadn’t! There were items missing off our plates that were listed on the menu and the food was either cold or burnt to a crisp. I complained and both plates were taken back to the kitchen but when brought out, there were still items missing and things that were hot before were now cold as they didn’t redo the whole plate. So we had fresh chips which had been cold but the meat was now cold. We didn’t bother complaining again due to the time it had taken to get these plates back and the fact we had to pick up our son from work at 9pm. Definitely won’t be back here again. It’s a shame as it’s in a beautiful location, but the chef is awful. I spoke to my neighbour the following day and she said she’d been and the food was dreadful too so it’s not a one off thing.

Booked a table of 8 at 6pm We’ve been to the Wolferstan arms before mainly for special occasions. We visited on the 26th August which I booked a table 3 days prior to coming, it was for my mom’s 70th birthday. On arrival there was no one to greet us as there use to be, I had to go round to the bar to find someone to say we was there and also had booked a table. We was just told our table was round by the front door. There was no customer service showing us to our table I was also told there’s no steaks, mix grills, steak pies, chicken kebabs, as it’s been a busy weekend and we’ve nothing left. Having Worked in the industry myself you always expect to be busy at bank holidays and always order more. Also make sure there’s an order in for the Monday for extra food. Any way we all managed to find something we wanted to eat, my husband went to order up at the bar which last time we had a waitress take our order so when he came back I said you haven’t paid yet as I’ve got childrens voucher. But he’d already paid. He did go back up and ask if they could put the vouchers thru, but he was told it’s too late and wasn’t very helpful at all. My fault really for thinking they would do a tab for us as normally we would have puddings after our dinner and more drinks. Sadley not on this occasion, the food was “ok” the fish batter tasted like Yorkshire pudding batter, chips were little skinny fries which I would normally give to children, we was asked if our food was ok when they was picking the plates up, nothing that could really be done at that time. Should Be asked during the meal. Not sure if the management has changed since March as our last visit was lovely, food was hot and tastey service fantastic. But unfortunately not this occasion. I shall definitely be looking for somewhere else to go on our next meal out.

Fantastic service from all staff on our visit, they were welcoming, helpful, polite and communicated well. Although a couple of items were unavailable on the menu staff were helpful with finding alternatives. When my dad had to rechoose his pudding the chef even went to the trouble of surprising him with a happy birthday plate and the staff even sung too, it was a lovely touch and a surprise to us all. The food was lovely, cooked to perfection and portions plentiful. We have always enjoyed our visits here it's great value for money, great setting and fantastic staff! We will be back again. My lasagne was cold in the middle, not much left on the menu either. Was very quiet but staff are friendly and helpful.

Lovely pub run by a great team. Friendly, inviting and lovely place to be. And the quiz is a great excuse to get out the house for an evening.

We've just visited for the first time and unfortunately it wasn't a pleasant visit. Other than the guy showing us to our seat, the rest of the staff seemed miserable and not welcoming. The Sunday roast was awful and wasn't warm. Tasted like it had been standing there ages and over cooked and mist of it was inedible. Partner asked for a half roast chicken and got a chicken breast. Waste of £45 Edited Your response to say we were informed of the chicken breast isn't true, We were not informed at all. The people next to us who were served at the same time got a half chicken roast. We originally asked for beef which we were informed there wasn't any left which was fine but we were not informed about the chicken breast. Regardless, the rest wasn't wasn't even satisfactory

Visited with my friend and we both had the kebab and fries. This was doner meat or chicken on a flat bread with salad and fries (we had one of each) the fries were rock hard and you could snap them and the meat portions were measly the doner meat you could barely fit in the bottom of a tea cup.. they were like burnt shavings and I had to use them sparingly with the flat bread and salad. Can’t fault the staff they did change the chips but I was disappointed to be honest with the portion size of the meat and probably won’t return in a hurry.

First visit to this pub, friendly and attentive staff, great atmosphere and lovely well presented food. All in all a smashing lunchtime visit.

The meal took over an hour to be served No waitress service now , going onto order at the bar . The chicken was dry the fries were to crispy . No knifes or forks on tables had to help our selves . Fish and chips were nice burgers were good . But we have had better service here before so very disappointed.

Popped in for a beer on way home.... Unfortunately no cask ale on offer.... again.... Staff as usual excellent, but what used to be an excellent local still not back to where it used to be...can only try so many times before giving up

Came here on Sunday 18th August to celebrate my nieces 18th birthday. The food was fab and the service was even better. Nothing was too much trouble and my niece had a great time. Thank you to Liam, Claire, Danie and Emily.

Been here a few times in the past few weeks. The staff are friendly and the food is good. It's a Marstons pub so the standard is as expected. As its on a hill there's a decent view from the rear garden too!

Was a quiet afternoon, doing the rounds visiting relations, called for a couple of pints of Guiness. Will go again when back on the mainland.

Have a bigger gluten-free menu than what is shown online, and surprisingly, it was tasty even though most gluten-free foods aren't. Kids loved the park and wouldn't eat so they could play. Food was hot, quick to arrive, and tasty.

The lunch menu is not value for money as it was really small for what you pay. It's a shame the 2 for 1 offer went too. The vegetable chilli and chips was like a kid's portion size.

Visit whilsth travelling through the area,had a chicken Salad and a prawn Marie ,thr garden area was lovely and the service was great .Was served by Emma and attentiveness made the expirience even better ! Would definitely return .

Had my daughter’s 16th birthday meal here reserved a table for 8 today and I cannot recommend here enough. The staff are extremely helpful and polite. Service was fast, food came out hot and each meal accommodated to as requested, good value for money and absolutely delicious!!! Small park for my youngest daughter to play on, plenty of seating areas. The staff brought out my daughters cake and sang happy birthday. Will 1000% be returning here. Thankyou to each and every member of staff for such an enjoyable dining experience.

Great filling food with fast service.

A prior online booking was placed on the previous Thursday for a table for 3 at 19:00 on Sunday 2nd June 2024. We arrived to find abject chaos around a milling half-dressed and decidedly lower rank queue at the bar basically baying for orders, whist any attempt to establish communication with the Bar Staff insofar as Table allocation was concerned, met with a frosty monosyllabic response. Already somewhat discouraged, we sat down at a very tight Table seating arrangement, only to discover that over half of the Menu was unavailable due to stock issues - no provision available of food for a lactose intolerant diabetic guest due to the 'Out of Stock' situation. Not once were we approached to ask if we needed help.We sat uncomfortably for 35 minutes and drank up before I called it quits - we were not going to 'throw good money after bad' in allowing this operational decacle to empty our pockets any further... Overhearing us, guests on a neighbouring table stated that they were experiencing similar issues, having been told that their choice of Sunday Roast was not available - and were genuinely upset and insulted by the ignorance shown towards customers. A lack of Table Service and indifferent/nonchalant staff (never asked if we had enjoyed our visit, nor questioned why we were leaving a booked table when I went to pay for the drinks we consumed) put the seal on the deal. We'll never return, nor will we risk damaging trust and relations with friends colleagues other than to be brutally honest about a broken and disjointed, non-friendly operation that needs urgent refurbishing, staff training or replacement, and a sustainable stock supply of menu items that meet the needs of all, and does not discriminate under the 2010 Equality Act by way of absence and a casual brush off... For the benefit of doubt, and in acknowledging an earlier response to my initial review, it seems that this establishment has since undergone a 'change of management' - in a very similar story to that meeting critiques of another nearby and troubled establishment run under the same Brewery control:The Gate Inn at Amington. If this is the best that Marstons Brewery can come up (given that that they had spent a previous month letter-bombing potential consumers in nearby Tamworth for both establishments), then I suggest that they stop wasting everyone's time and ruining expectations by shutting down such embarrassments, and passing the premises onto decent independent publicans or restaurateurs who wish to make a going concern of such prime spots. If zero or negative review stars could be awarded, this would be a -10 with whistles and bells!

Such a friendly and welcoming local. The staff are always cheerful and happy to help, they remember our orders from previous visits and Dani specifically was amazing and even remembered special requirements some of our party have with our order.

Came out to celebrate a family birthday and had a wonderful evening. Out server Danie couldn't do enough for us. There was a little wait for the food and they couldn't apologise enough even though we understood. Food was very good quality and good value for money

Been a few times over the last few weeks and my previous visits were OK. We visited as a party of 6 on Monday 15th July, the restaurant was really quiet, firstly my husbands defence card discount was forgotten to be added to the bill. We told the girl to not worry about it. Then when the brought the food out I pointed out they had forgotten the side of onion rings that were ordered. All we got 5 mins later was sorry we forget. No offer of a refund but not even a drink to replace the onion rings (I was drinking pepsi) Won't be back until they can sort out the recent issues I had been warned about

Had a lovely meal for our anniversary 2nite, very nice it was, steak with the salad and fish and chips, not been for a while, seems a lot better than last time.

Lovely pub with typical pub grub. Gluten free food was top tier though!! Good selection and staff are so lovely. Daisy served us and couldn't do enough for us. Will absolutely be returning!!

We booked a table for 6pm with two young children, on ordering at 6.15 we were told there was a 45 min wait for food. We asked if the children’s meals could come first but were told it’ll be 45 mins. After 45 mins I enquired again and was told they would rush the food for my daughter as she’d ordered off the u5s menu. Out starters emerged after 50 minutes with my daughters food. We then had to wait another hour before our mains arrived - we asked repeatedly for updates and kept being told 10 minutes otherwise we would have left. By the time the food arrived my daughter was asleep on my lap and my son (just 7) was in tears he was so hungry. The front of house staff were doing their best and were very apologetic but 2 hours wait for some very average food is unacceptable especially when we’d booked for an early time. We were visiting the area and will return but will definitely never be dining here again!

Best fish and chips we have had for a long time and served by very helpful staff.

Came here for the first time after moving back to area, when we arrived we were told there was a 35-40 minute wait for food but we actually waited over 1 and a 1/2 hours with no communication from staff to explain or apologise. When food came it was lovely but again another long wait for puddings to be served staff seemed sparse, the experience was poor which was a shame we won't be rushing back anytime soon I'm afraid.

Yorkshire puddings on the children's meals were extremely overcooked, everything else was on point.

A great pub in the outer part of Tamworth. A very comprehensive menu, reasonably priced, beautifully cooked & presented. Staff very attentive without being intrusive. Very happy experience. We will be back very soon

There were 2 members of floor staff and clearly more guests than anticipated. They were both running round balancing guests between the 2 of them. Despite how rushed off their feet they were they were very attentive and made sure everyone had the attention needed. Big well done to them both!!

Great place for a bite to eat. Recommend the surf and turf or a mixed grill. food cooked to perfection. little bit of a wait for food but was told and we're aware about this.

Ate here earlier today and had scampi along with a lasagne. The food had amazing, however there was a 40 ish minute wait in food but was told and made aware so we didn't mind due to a family emergency eith the chef. The food and service was great and will definitely return soon.

We waited over an hour and a half between ordering food and actually starting to get it, during that time nobody who worked there had come over to explain what was going on (we were told later it was a chef issue, if it was we should have been told right away rather than just left waiting). When the food did eventually start to arrive, some was very overcooked and dry (like it had been sat under a heat lamp for an hour). Also, there seemed to be a big delay between the first and last meal coming out, the people who had gotten the first meals had finished by the time the last one came out, that added to the disappointment as the point of going out was to have dinner together, not to watch each other while waiting for your own food. While I understand that things can happen that may cause delays in the food, it was rude to see people who ordered food 30 minutes after us get their food first, and it was disgusting that we were not informed of the delay once the kitchen realized it was going to be more than 10 minutes or so, and is it took over 90 minutes to get the food out, they certainly knew about the delay in plenty of time to inform us. Also, several of the staff joked about how long it had taken when the food was being delivered, again confirming they have no real interest in making a visit there a good experience for the customer. My recommendation would be don't go there and find somewhere who cares about their customers.

We have been many times over the years, never really having the experience we used to have back in the 90s. Each time we've visited, there has always been a few problems with the food, and never a problem with the service. Again, the floor staff were really good. It was busy, and we understood there would be a bit of a wait. We were told it would be approx 45 mins from ordering the food, and weere OK with that. That was at 640pm. 7.55pm, was when we recieved the food. My steak ( medium) was stone cold, as were the peas and the mushrooms. The steak knife and chips were hot. The wife's steak ( well done) was also stone cold, however her steak knife was also hot, as well as her chips etc.. The prawns ordered with my daughters dinner were either old pre frozen or not cooked properly as they were also cold too. We had waited so long for our dinners, I'd decided just to eat mine and not cause bother but realising the wife's steak wasn't cooked as ordered and cold, and the other issue of the prawns I raised my concerns with the staff. We had placed a 30% off voucher on our order prior to the order so was told they couldn't take any more money off, unusual but ok, if that's the policy then perhaps we shouldn't eat there again. They die offer dessert but waiting an hour for our food we'd had enough by then and was a little upset our experience hadn't changed. I'd like to know how much the owners would expect to pay for cold undercooked food or cold food While we appreciate the busy time, this should have been addressed by the extra staff needed to run a busy kitchen to keep the quality high and consistent. We won't be coming back, but it's bot the fault of the staff, more like an issue with kitchen and policy. A shame as we always used to eat there, and a shame as we'd given the place another chance to redeem itself. A damn shame.

Went for a family meal party of 13 the pub was only half full but waited 1hr 20mins for food. 3 meals inedible. Sunday roast cold and dry, Steak very fatty, dry and poor quality sent back and replaced with worse Steak other meals dry and generally not very nice overall a very poor experience will definitely NOT eat there again or recommend to anyone

Must admit haven't been here for years. Well that is now going to change. We had booked for a party of 9. The service we received was excellent, and the food was faultless. All starters were brought out together. Everything was fresh and hot. Haven't had breaded garlic mushrooms for years, but these were lovely. Then onto the main course. Again everything came out together, hot and fresh. Everyone said their meals were perfect. There was nothing we could fault honestly. Looking forward to going back again. Thank you all

Last time we came the food was fantastic so booked for Father’s Day. This time it was utterly disappointing. The food was poor, the service was extremely slow (and it wasn’t even busy!!) Feels like we’ve wasted money and will definitely not be back 👎🏻

Awful! Told as soon as we get there you need to leave after 2 hours not great greeting. 45 min wait on food not even busy in there Food terrible chicken dry and only barely a spoon full of bbq sauce on hunters chicken , child’s meal sausage was burnt to black on one side , packet mash potato , roast potato burnt , Yorkshire pudding burnt . Total waste of money will not be going back again .

My wife had to organise a wake for my mother in law’s funeral so she got in touch with The wolverston Arms, from the first contact, the planning, to the actual wake the service has been first class. Many who attended commented said how great the buffet food was and the choice on offer, and it all went down well. Thank you Josh and your team for your brilliant service and making the wake so enjoyable.

Had a mega mixed grill and it was cooked to perfection, the onion rings were a bit rubbish though they seem to have changed hopefully its only temporary as everything else was perfect

Chose a lite bite for lunch expecting a smallish meal but when served it was a very disappointing over priced tiny excuse. The cost didn't influence my choice I just fancied something smaller than a full sized main

Came in last week and was very busy. We were seated and served by liam who told us there would be a wait and 1 or 2 things unavailable which we were fine with. Food came and was very nice and came faster than what the wait actually was. Service was great as were constantly being checked to see if we were okay etc. Had a cookie brownie for dessert which I highly recommend. Great place, great staff and a great view!!

We arrived to be told most of the meats for the Sunday Roast were unavailable. We were seated next to the bar and kitchen doors, so had a constant stream of staff walking past. The macaroni cheese was unavailable. The orange J2O was unavailable. The chips I ordered did not arrive. The chilli was quite spicy, which I would usually avoid, but was the only thing on the menu I could eat as I needed a gluten free meal that was vegan. We've been numerous times over the last few years and thus was definitely our worst experience by far.

Went for a Sunday roast on a whim, was told fully booked but the young lady who saw us (never caught her name unfortunately) managed to find us somewhere, she was incredibly friendly & helpful, even packaging up my daughters leftovers (as she was too interested in the onsite playground rather than eating!). The roast was delicious, big fluffy Yorkshire pud & tasty meat. Food came out quickly considering how busy they were & nice atmosphere too.

Very fun quiz night, had burgers as came with a drink on offer, the fries were lovely and the burger sauce completed the whole thing. We lost but still walked away with a pack of jam tarts! Will definitely return

I ordered the table to have dinner, when I arrived at the place I was told that the kitchen was closed, when it was only 8:45 on Saturday.When I asked for what reason, they told me that they had already started cleaning. Are you kidding or what? Do you start clean kitchen Saturday at 8.45pm?Be careful when you go out to eat in this pub especially to celebrate a birthday when the guests come and tell you that the kitchen is no longer working. The answer for the comment from pub: If you receive orders only until 20.45, then it says that the kitchen works until 20.45, but if the kitchen works until 21.00, then you must receive your order by 21.00.

Food not good. Side salad served in a hot bowl. Jacket potato cold. Steak chewy. Not enough chips. Should have had peas but forgotten. Would not recommend.
