As already mentioned by others, this in my opinion is the best Chinese take away in Southport. We love our chinese food and struggle to find decent food thats not packed with MSG and gloopy sauces, but Woks Cooking is great every time. Bargain is the dinner boxes, feeds two people. Chowmein is great, as is the Wonton soup, Wartap chicken, crispy duck pancakes, salt and pepper ribs, and many other things we've tried here.

Re the good reputation of the take away decided to try it this week / the spare ribs were in like a gravy thin sauce and poor quality ribs with two knuckle portions and then two types of fried rice very bland and very little content .The quantities were good but the quality very poor . We must have picked a bad night ?

I have been using this Chinese takeaway ( and chip shop) for the last 10 years plus now, and I have never been disappointed yet. They have a great number of meals to chose. I enjoy the Chicken Mappo meals while my wife likes the chow mein and spicy crispy chicken wings. I can't understand why there are no more reviews on this site I live near Hesketh Park about 5 minutes away by car. If you haven't tried Woks Cooking yet you won't be disappointed. It's a Peking and Cantonese takeaway. Plus fish and chips etc.

I visited this restaurant in early December with my friend, were were after a relaxing few hours and a great restaurant experience not had chinese for a while. When we entered the restaurant we noticed how cold the temperature was, it was only 6pm so we thought maybe but hadn't been open long. We ordered a beer each from the waitress and then very soon after was asked 3 times if we were Ready to order , a bit pressured we thought. Also the wine list had disappeared from the table and had to ask twice for it. We ordered our banquet and awaited our soup, this was tasteless, iv never had to add salt to chicken & Sweetcorn soup! Our red wine arrived and it was freezing cold! I mentioned this to the waitress and she said "well it's not been in the fridge". Our combination course of ribs, spring rolls and seaweed was really nice but the mains were not, tough pork balls and chewy chicken. Untill we asked for a break the meal was very rushed. We didn't enjoy the experience and won't be returning.

This place is a hidden gem. Food is amazing, plenty of it and reasonably priced. We ate the three course evening meal for £14.99 per head, tasty and hot. The sweet and sour chicken I have not tasted anything better anywhere.

Visited here on the 27th October for my birthday. Didn’t book. Plenty of room. Staff so friendly and welcoming. Went out of their way to help my husband who was in a wheelchair. The food was amazing.!!! I had the Sunday buffet. My husband had a duck meal. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The buffet was continually been topped up. They do charge extra if you leave an excessive amount of food and I don’t blame them. Sadly I saw a couple scrapping food in to containers under the table . Obviously done it before.😡😡
