Empire Restaurant in Sefton

Visited here on the 27th October for my birthday. Didn’t book. Plenty of room. Staff so friendly and welcoming. Went out of their way to help my husband who was in a wheelchair. The food was amazing.!!! I had the Sunday buffet. My husband had a duck meal. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The buffet was continually been topped up. They do charge extra if you leave an excessive amount of food and I don’t blame them. Sadly I saw a couple scrapping food in to containers under the table . Obviously done it before.😡😡

I had a lovely meal here and such good value very delicious. Mr seows service was exceptional from beginning to end everything was taken care of he truly is a a kind young gentleman

I had the Early Bird Special with some friends and it was delicious! The pork pring rolls are so juicy, then had the chicken friend rice which you can never go wrong with. To top it off, a lovely vanilla ice cream with a wafer. Very friendly and helpful staff and a favourite place to go.

Had the Early Bird lunch menu. The crisp chicken samosas were undeniably small but tasty. However the chicken and assorted veg curry was delicious - the rice came in its own container and there was plenty of curry and rice! Had the banana fritter to complete a very good value meal. The service was very attentive too - the food arrived hot which is always welcome! Thanks again!

The food was amazing. I highly recommend going if you're in the area, we will go again next time we are in southport

I was told by a friend to go and give this place a try I wish I hadn’t bothered got there around 18:30 for Chinese buffet most of what was left was the left overs every main dish on display was just was just containers of sauce when I asked if they were replacing them they said coming soon. Overall most of the food was very average at best I’ve had far better from my local Chinese takeaway needless to say I won’t be returning

Prices have shot up and portions are a lot smaller

While visiting Southport, we had planned to eat at a Spanish tapas bar but were thwarted when we found that it had gone out of business six days earlier. We spotted the Empire just across the road and decided to give it a try. Good call! The restaurant is large, comfortable and well appointed. All staff are oriental (Chinese, Malay, Indonesian etc) and, while a few don't speak English, all are extremely pleasant and efficient. The menu is huge and it would challenge anyone to fail to find something to tempt the taste buds. My duck in orange sauce was, possibly, the best that I've ever had and my wife's selection of dishes was excellent too. As is often the case with Chinese restaurants, the value is excellent and, if anything, the cost seems low for this quality of food. My only regret is that we live 150 miles away as, otherwise, we'd be visiting the Empire more regularly.

It's my birthday and I've wanted a Chinese for months as I've been on a diet, so I ordered a plain chow mein, as in the normal but with no meat, I got what can only be described as a tub of dried up hay, no bean sprouts or onions just dried up noodles. The chicken balls we ordered were nice but the sweet and sour sauce had spilled inside the bag as the lid was broken and not secured, my husband ordered a special curry and got a chicken curry. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.

Absolutely superb food! So good we returned the night after. Exceptional service, brilliant staff ( Samantha-I’ll use my spoon in future!🤣). Even had Benedictine behind the bar! Wow! Highly recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous food! Staff are so helpful and friendly! Had bbq spare ribs, chicken curry and chips, mixed meat curry, egg fried rice, sticky toffee pudding, bowl of ice-cream, Great prices went in for lunch, First time we have been, when we are in Southport next time will be definitely going there again, Highly recommended!

We nearly didn't go in when we saw the buffet through the window as not our thing, but they had a normal menu too. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and all the staff were incredibly attentive. One of the best Chinese restaurants I've been in.

My wife bought voucher for our 54 th anniversary just for a taster.Let me tell you,we waited ages to be served and as we only wanted a drink the staff were not interested at all.Weonly used Hali of the £50 voucher, so we were told no credit would be allowed, so we had to pay anyway.What a complete rip off. We advise people not to get caught out as we did.

The best Chinese in Southport. Food is all freshly prepared and extremely high quality. Great vegan and gluten free selection - all clearly marked on the menu. Staff are very knowledgeable.

I was on holiday with family and was looking to eat Chinese and found this place down the side street and was treated with a warm welcome. Once seated we placed our order and got drinks. They have a fish tank and it was full of beautiful fish, which kept the child entertained for a while. Once food came we were left to enjoy crispy duck, rice, chips, crackers, chicken noodles. All served and presented nicely. All the food was delicious and hot. Staff checked in on us but not over powering. It was nice big place set out lovely. All staff polite and engaged with us.

Reasonably good quality buffet. A good selection of starters, mains and desserts. Not bad at all.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an excellent experience at EMPIRE The service was top-notch, and the cleanliness of the establishment was impeccable. A special shoutout to our waiter, Jame, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!

Sunday buffet, no thanks, we were going to select dishes from the menu. We were parked at the back of the restaurant next to the toilets and a stack of furniture and forgotten about. Didn't look too promising so we left

I usually quickly research before choosing a restaurant but this was last minute and we were hungry! The outside is a little tired so I was pleasantly surprised when I entered that this is a lovely restaurant inside, clearly popular as it was very busy. We hadn’t booked but the staff were lovely, polite and welcoming and found us a table within five minutes or so while we sat and waited. The menu is extensive and the food is absolutely excellent. Duck was spot on and the fillet steak is not the usual thin slices but good thick sizzling pieces of steak. Big portions as everyone has said, and they kindly cooked salt and pepper wings for our seven year old with no chillis and he devoured them! All the staff were friendly, attentive and quick to handle all requests… (extra ice straight away, allowing our son to eat a lolly we’d previously bought him while we finished our wine!, etc) fantastic restaurant and we will definitely be back when we are next in Southport. Thank you!

We were greeted with a very friendly smile. The staff were all very kind and welcoming. Our meals were absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were huge. I had Dim sum, Thai Pattaya rice and mixed rendang curry. My parents had 2 early bird specials served to us by a lovely smiley lady. We were made to feel very special. Should we be going back to Southport, this will definitely be our first choice for food. Thank you.

Enjoy going for lunch here with my partner. We have been a few times now and the food has always been very nice. It is very good value and I have no hesitation in recommending it. A bonus is the large fish tank at the back of the restaurant containing several Koi carp. It's very relaxing to watch.

Get there on a Sunday at 12, it's all you can eat buffet time, nice selection of dishes, shredded duck, siu mai etc etc, be there or be square 👌

Not been in for a while but came in yesterday for the Sunday buffet. Food was of good quality, plenty of choice and very tasty. Something for everyone, and pleasant, efficient service from the friendly staff, who were busy keeping everything topped up. We all love the icecream machine! Recommended.

The house special fried noodle is a good option for you to have all the ingredients into a single dish. Crispy noodle is highly recommended as you may find it interesting if you seldom have Chinese cuisine. For fried rice, I guess Yang Chow fried rice would be a better option if you are not an egg lover.

Worst food ever tasted, also very cramped buffet area, why don't you locate it by fish tank? The price for the buffet was £13.50, I guess its true, you get what you pay for! Never setting foot in this place again!

Excellent service and excellent food. Doesn't look much from the outside, but once you enter, looks can be misleading! Food is all freshly cooked and piping hot. Good choice of dishes and not overpriced. Well worth a visit!!
