Abysmal - avoid at all costs 🤬 A couple years ago this was passable. However, nowadays it's terrible. I had to get full refund last month after a shockingly bad meal. Today I discovered they've rebranded and changed menu, so I gave it another try: wish I hadn't. 'Indonesian fried noodles' was literally unseasoned packet ramen, squirt of sambal on the bottom, few flakes of dried onion, a fried egg and two slices of SPAM!!?? Total rip. RiPieces Wokness 🤦🏽‍♂️💥

Disappointing and probably dangerous for health. The food was off. Visibly and olfactory passed its consumable time long ago. When brought food back, the lady gave another set. Only to open at home and find out that noodles taste of a toilet cleaner... I think pine

Huge portions but duck chow mein was bland. Soup and wings were nice. Only weird thing is packaging - weirdly put the chow mein wrapped in tin foil into a chip box which made it messy getting out. Why not use a plastic takeaway box like everything else

The spring rolls were not nice. The wrapper was too thick and not fully cooked through and the filling was very bland. The sesame prawn toast was tasty, as was the skewered chicken satay.

First time ordering from here and very impressed. Food was so flavourful and the portion sizes were great, would definitely recommend the BBQ ribs and the Tofu & Pak Choi in Garlic Sauce!

Some of the batter was empty and didn’t have chicken in it at all. For £7.20, the portion was ridiculously small and we were only able to eat 1/3 of the portion. When I messaged Wokness, they offered me a 10% discount on my next order, which just isn’t worth it. We paid £37 pounds for our meal.. so would only have had under 4 pounds compensation. I won’t be ordering again.

A hour and a half from order to delivery. I don't get takeaway often now so this was supposed to be a treat. Tiny pieces of dry overcooked chicken in all but one of the chicken balls.

Food quality wasn’t good & the delivery guy kept getting lost

Excellent portions and variety of veg in the noodles. They arrived hot and stayed hot a while, well packed. If the veg and tofu, in particular, could just be in cut into smaller pieces they'd be much easier to eat, some of us have small bites, others are not so proficient with chopsticks.

The absolute best special fried rice I have ever tasted!

Chicken was slimy and seemed to have been frozen and defrosted before "cooking" and the sauce was VERY watery I see some reviews saying "best Chinese in Edinburgh", really?? Have you tried any other Chinese takeaways? Polite delivery driver but I won't ever get anything from wokness again. New fortune cookie is the best Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh FYI.

Delivery time was long but probably because its sunday and they have very busy time. But food.... its the best chinese food I ever eat plus big portions. Briliant.

Arrived hot, considering how far away you are, good points. Nicely cooked, eg carrots perfect. Chose all vegetarian dishes today could have a few more not tofu options. I was concerned the spicy aubergine would be too much for my parent but they didn't even, notice; either the spices didn't go in this time or the spice scale is way off. Aubergines were not spicy. Nice but duller than prefered by all but parent. Similar on garlic which was also meagre. We had just the right amount of food to fill all 4 happily.

The chips are like chippy chips and just the overall taste wasn’t good and wasn’t particularly hot

Wokness is my go to Chinese takeaway. Always tasty and arrives in good time. The very generous portions make it excellent value for money. Keep up the good work guys 🤗

Best special fried rice ever! Huge portion full of mixed meats / prawns and loads of fresh veg & mushrooms - very tasty & will definitely order again!

For me personally, this is the best Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh. Very big portions with affordable prices make it a very unique and worthy place! The food is very tasty and the owners always respond to any additional special requests that I might have. Totally recommend this place!

I usually love this place . Price jumped up £2 for basic chicken curry fried rice and the chicken was odd not usually quality . Disappointing to be honest :(

Delivery man so kind and food delicious

Prices have nearly doubled in a couple of years and the quality has gone badly downhill. Several dishes are now basically just a mixture of gristle and salty mush.

Not one to complain but the food was awful. Had the sweet and sour fish and it was slimy, wet and greasy. To be fair I don’t even think it was fish… not feeling too great and I only had a little of it. Never again.

Restaurant sent out wrong item, I ordered Tofu and Veg Chow Mein - received Udon Chow Mein. Sadly, I cannot eat Udon noodles. However all food was very tasty, vibrant and fresh. Excellent portion sizes too.

Favourite Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh. I always order the 1/4 duck and pancakes and salt and chilli chips and they are unreal, both incredible sized portions! Totally recommend

The portion sizes are HUGE! I was so full after my starter. The chicken wings were really big, really tasty and lots of them. Chow Mein has the thick egg noodles, also really tasty.

Honestly? This was the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. First time ordering from here. Shredded chilli beef > weirdest experience of my life. Looked like shredded chilli beef, but no chilli, no beef. No idea how they achieved such convincing shapes. Very suspect. Lemon chicken. Chicken was hard and dry. Sharp in places. Defo not fresh. Chicken and black bean sauce. Watery. Chicken as above. Veggie spring rolls, really nice!! Standard frozen party food. Honestly, please avoid. After a few bites we eyeballed each other and pushed our plates away. Really gutted as we were all super hungry after a day of hard graft.

Asked for Chicken Curry. It was curry and there was some chicken but I think it was a different item as it was full of chunky mushrooms and potatoes, peas and carrots and far too many large onions. Wouldn’t have again. Normally a Chinese curry is chicken breast and a curry sauce. The chicken and sweetcorn soup I’ve had better. The prawn crackers were over singed.

Very late delivery, time frame not given until you've ordered and paid. 1/2 duck came ready chopped up and was barely 1/5 of a duck. Which was actually a good thing because it was dry and tasteless. The chicken was an absolute shocker, tough as old boots. Ribs were all bone and gristle. Trying to think of something positive to say ..... err, nope. Nothing. Won't be going back, there's far better in the near vicinity.

Good quality food & value for money. We recently moved and got our usual order from this place (our new local) and it is about twice as much food as we're used to!!! I love that they use "fresh" tofu, and the tingly spices (sechuan peppers?) were an experience. Salt and chilli chips = delicious, but other dishes could have had a bit more flavour. It's good quality food, maybe not the best we're used to, but definitely good/great and I would recommend for food in the area.

I never leave a review but feel I like I have to say how amazing their veg fried rice is. Being a vegetarian it’s hard to find a good fried rice and this is the best veg fried rice I have had in a long time. Portions are massive as well…best Chinese in Edinburgh

Unfortunately the duck I ordered was basically a container full of pieces of fat. I know duck is a fatty meat but the little meat in there, was placed conveniently on top of a mountain of pineapple and huge chunks of fat. I had to throw it away. First and last time at Wok, unfortunately.

Very good and very fast delivery. The Spring Rolls are excellent.

Best Chinese food in Edinburgh!

Food is always delicious and quality is always brilliant! Delivery driver was very friendly and food arrived early!

1st time using this take away as our usual the New Xian was shut. Ordered Aromatic crispy duck (1/2) and it came already off the bone with not much quality or quantity. The Honey ribs and the Salt n Chili ribs lacked any real flavor. The special fried rice although it seemed a huge portion was served in a odd manner. A huge omelets type egg spread over the top of what was a pretty tasteless mound of mixed veg and chewy meats. Very disappointing. May have caught them on a bad day ? who knows ?

One of the better chinese restaurants in edinburgh, the salt and pepper wings meet my high expectations and prices are very reasonable for Edinburgh, but it’s only a 4 star for now because of a few things. The salt and pepper chips have a good flavour, but the chips themselves are slacking, they are a little cardboardy and usually a bit cold, I have yet to find good all-round salt and pepper chips in Edinburgh but Wokness is one of the better options. A lot of the meat in various dishes is also quite fatty, not an issue for some but as someone who can’t stand the texture of fat this is a big issue. We ordered a 1/4 portion of duck pancakes, and the duck was pre-shred and extremely fatty. I had to pick at the duck to remove the fat and almost 1/3 of what was included wasn’t usable. However, this place definitely worth trying if you’re looking for a good-value and tasty place to eat, but if like me, you’re from outside Edinburgh and are used to really high quality takeaways and are on the hunt for an amazing chinese, you might be a little disappointed by some of the items.

Incredible. Food delivered 20 minutes earlier than expected. The food was also delicious, spring rolls were crispy (which is hard to come by these days), everything was on point. Arguably, one of the best Chinese takeaways I've had, ever!

After waiting an hour and 20 minues for my food to arrive for the scheduled time, I had to wait a further 15 minutes for the site to tell me it had been order. I chased this and received a text it would then arrive an hour after the original scheduled time. A little annoyed I phone them, no answer so I phoned again. The woman who spoke with me firstly didn't utter any words at all, I had to speak to see if anyone had actually answered, then the first thing she said was your order is on its way- she didn't even know who I was, she then said she had phoned the wrong person. I had to quickly react to make sure the phone was not put down before I could ask for an update. Someone else came onto the phone and explained it had been exceptionally busy, about 50 people ordered the same time as I did and they only had one cook. The food was ok, not worth the wait and was certainly dampened by the overall experience. They were also very stingy with their prawn crackers.

Fried rice was really really stodgy. Horrific. Never seen anything like it in my life. We had 4 chicken fried rices so whole meal ruined. If it wasn’t for pandemic I would have brought it back.

Delivery was estimated to be over an hour and then was delayed on top of that. But when it did get here it was hot and tasty. Thank you!

Really like the food, portions fairly standard. I always feel the sauces are are bit lighter and tastier than our local Chinese.

Ordered half a crispy duck and were given ridiculously small proportion that could only fill half the pancakes at a push. Also sweet and sour tasted like viniger. Only positive part were chicken balls. Very disappointed and left hungry 😣

Was really looking forward to this but what a disappointment. The batter and chips were soggy and the horrible processed chicken made it inedible for me. Won’t be using again.

Food took 2 hours to arrive. Was not as advertised and was stone cold. Awful.

There was no beef in the shredded beef lol and everything else was cold and gross. We’ve ordered here before and it was so nice but this is definitely the worst Chinese I’ve had!

Original delivery time we were given was 1 hour 30 minutes but it was over 2 hours before it came. Shredded beef with honey and chilli sauce was quite watery and had way too much chilli in it. Struggled to finish it as it overpowered it. Special chow main was very bland my other half had to add salt and pepper to it which he never does with any Chinese meal. Very disappointed tonight. Portion size of prawn crackers is pathetic. There were only about 8 crackers in it
