This place was terrible. We booked our dinner a week in advance and arrived on time, only to find 3 other groups waiting to be sat for the same timed reservation ahead of us. After waiting for 35 minutes we went to the wonderful restaurant Solti just 30 seconds away. Not once did the staff even speak to us, let alone apologise or offer any advice on how long we'd have to wait FOR OUR RESERVATION. Would NOT recommend

This was so disappointing, the food was average and the service shocking! We waited two hours for food, when it arrived it was basic and during the wait Deliveroo coming in and out with food. The lady on the front apologized lots however it didn’t make the food come any quicker. Avoid avoid avoid!!! Ruined night!!!

Visited on a whim on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were so friendly and the menu was great value for city centre venue in Edinburgh! My partner said the Korma was the best he had had. Will be taking a trip to their restaurant in London when I’m home! They kindly gave me a discount card when I mentioned I would go there.

Last night (Saturday 15th) my girlfriend and I had a booking at the Kamasutra Edinburgh to celebrate our anniversary. We have been to kamasutra in Glasgow and absolutely love the food. Last night, the food didn’t disappoint- it was fantastic.However- I am a wheelchair user with a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as brittle bones. My girlfriend booked the table because it mentioned on the website that there was wheelchair access. When we arrived, Chloe entered the restaurant to ask where the accessible entrance was only to be told that there wasn’t one and the only entrance was the 3 steps down then onto a landing, then 3 steps up into the restaurant. I managed to get off my chair and with help from my partner we were able to get in. When we were in the restaurant, I discovered that there was a disabled toilet and I also noticed a fire exit with lots of general rubbish and chairs etc in front of the door. Again, I asked the waiter when we were leaving if we could leave via the accessible entrance because there was a disabled toilet I thought there must have been an entrance. I questioned the fire exit and the waiter said they couldn’t use the fire exit as they needed to keep the door jammed shut because of “the robbers”. The man couldn’t really understand my point. I then got out my chair and with the help of my girlfriend, left the restaurant via the stairs.Extremely disappointed at this and embarrassed that this happened. If it wasn’t for the fact we had previously booked the place because of a busy Saturday night in Edinburgh, we would have went else where. I have attached photos to support my review and I welcome any further correspondence from a manager of the restaurant as soon as possible.

Visited this restaurant with family when we went to Scotland for holiday in August 2020. It is a small restaurant, with traditional decor. The staff were friendly and the services was exceptional . The food was delicious. The portion size were reasonable to the price. It was quite clean . Overall it was good environment . An experience to remember. Will definitely visit again when I go to Edinburgh.

Este edificio solía albergar un restaurante sucio con mala comida y mal servicio.¡Qué cambio!Las porciones más pequeñas son realmente buenas y le permiten pedir algunos platos para una fiesta y tener una muestra de todos ellos.El servicio es muy atento y para las personas como yo que no comen demasiado, siguen siendo tan agradables como si hubiéramos pedido una gran cantidad de comida. También estuvieron felices de explicar qué platos son los más picantes (en cuanto a especias) y los ingredientes de cada uno.No ser extrañado.

Stunning place. Great service and great price. Had two onion bajis and poppadom, pashwari nann, two curries korma and tikka. Really stunning with pilau rice with chips. Good price for two and Good beer. Would recommend and return.

I cannot speak for all dishes but the only place I've had better dhal makhani is in dheli! Everything is rich creamy and flavoursome! We've always found the service to be very attentive despite what other reviews say.

*NOT FOLLOWING SOCIAL DISTANCING* if you care one bit about following social distancing do not dine here. Packed in and felt very uncomfortable from the offset and left. I aired my concerns and it wasn't taken seriously. I cannot comment on food only social distancing rules. Profit over health guidance. Will not be coming here again

Tengo que pedir menús después de 10 minutos de estar sentado y solo obtuve 1, así que pedí otro. No se dan menús de papel como otros restaurantes, por lo que no se preocupan mucho por Covid. La comida estuvo bien. Le faltaba sabor teniendo en cuenta que era indio. No elegiría ir aquí de nuevo. Ambos dan punta a la izquierda. El lugar necesita una buena limpieza. . . los suelos estaban resbalosos y pegajosos. Los baños estaban asquerosos

We were staying nearby and often just walk out to pick a place to eat. We base it on what the place looks like and a quick look at the menu. We do like Indian especially if its not just a curry house. We were not disappointed with this one.

This restaurant has great ambience with the best food serving. Dishes here have been great in taste also good hospitality that has been a great visit would definitely recommend to my friends

Visited this Place on suggestion of friend the food tastes great and the staff are so hospitable. The Ambience is top is pleasant for fine dining definitely would suggest this place and love to have their lamb biryani again😋.

Best everyday Indian food in Edinburgh without doubt. Tapas style means you can experiment a little and always keep a spot for your fab dish. Daily specials, prompt service, competitive pricing and amazing food keeps this place busy all the time!! Book in advance !! Defently we will back soon.

Very nice restaurant, excellent service high quality food, I went with two friends on a last Friday night it was very busy even though we got our food on time. Highly qualified staff and helped a lot in finalizing the food and the management was simply awesome even in the peak hours they handle the customers very goodI'll suggest you to visit the restaurant and enjoy the food

Thoroughly enjoyed our curry, catered highly to vegetarian options, offering majority of dishes to be made vegetarian! Service was really good, attentive and friendly. The flavours of the curry were incredible, definitely recommend!

Went for a leaving meal for someone leaving work so quiet a large group. We all agreed the food for me and for me was the best curry ever. Been back since with my wife and she agrees. Amazing.

Enjoyed a nice starter and a dent curry here, my wife's chicken tikka massala had chilies in though meaning it was too hot for her to enjoy and therefore she didn't finish it.

Visited with my family last night and we order chicken tikka masala my daughter loved it and the staff was very friendly this is not the first time we are visiting. I hope this was the best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh with a lot of different dishes with reasonable prices

We visited Kama Sutra at 16 Drummond Street, Edinburgh , eh8 9tx on Sunday 24th November. We only ordered from the indo tapas menu but we both enjoyed our meal that much that I felt I had to let everyone know where to go for a fantastic Indian meal that doesn't cost the earth. The service was exceptional. Will definitely visit again when we return to Edinburgh.

Our first choice Indian Restaurant was full so going by Trip Advisor reviews tried the Kama Sutra.

Authentic and rustic food where every meal tastes different. If I lived in Edinburgh I would probably move in. The Tikka Paneer, chilli chick peas, lamb saag and aloe gobi just amazing. Seriously if you like a bit of spice you have to try!

Los trozos de pollo eran de gran calidad, y la salsa fue la mejor que he probado en mi vida. Y las otras dos comidas fueron igual de buenas. La anfitriona fue muy conversadora y se rió con nuestro hijo. Definitivamente regresaremos cuando volvamos a Edimburgo

This was recommended to us and I'm glad it was. Don't be fooled by the unassuming appearance of the place, the food is spectacular. Particular fan of the lamb chops which were a unique preparation.

Ran in here between shows and we were very lucky we did. Excellent service and advice from the staff. One of our group is Asian and liked the food very much. The name could put some people off but ...

The butter chicken, saag paneer, and lamb vindaloo were spectacular - spicy, complex flavors and fresh ingredients. Service was a bit slow, but they were quite busy.

Visiting during the Edinburgh Festival, the place was very busy. However, I got a table for one and the service was efficient and reasonably quick. My beer was cold but pricey. The Chicken Dansak was hot and of a decent quantity. I decided to just have a Naan bread with it, but it was served on a cold plate with no covering and it went cold quite quickly and then wasn't nearly so appetising.

Très bonne cuisine, les prix sont correctes mais attention a ne pas payé de supplément par erreur par exemple le riz n'est pas compris dans les plats, vous le payez en plus comme l'eau même du robinet.

Is it me or have lots of ‘curry houses’ massively upped their game recently? Kamasutra’s offerings were absolutely stunning. We tried about 6 ot 7 dishes and without exception they were unique, fresh and utterly delicious! Add to this some great service and you have a must-visit restaurant that will blow you away!

Came here on a whim with no preconceived ideas about the establishment. I was alone exploring the city and was seated by the window so I could look out while I ate. I ordered three tapas items plus rice, not knowing how big the portions would be. I got veggie pakora, chicken tikka satay, and butter chicken. Added a side of rice. It was some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. Every dish was phenomenal. Portions were big and i could have honestly done fine with one item+rice. The chicken was lean with no fat, gristle or bone. Service was good. Atmosphere pleasant. The butter chicken was TO DIE FOR.

Visited twice during the Fringe - due to the quality of the dishes. We cook a lot of Asian dishes at home and at this restaurant you could really taste all the different spices in each of our choices. The service is lovely too - everyone was very friendly. It was interesting to see that the owner was always on hand to check the dishes before they were served - so spot on quality control. When we commented during our second visit, he kindly showed us all of the spices he uses and how he blends his own spice recipe.

We are in Edinburgh for holiday and the fringe and decided we were interested in an Indian meal. We found Kamasutra near our fringe venue and were seated without a wait. The waiter helped us select a variety of tapas for the six of us. We had various levels of spice, some meat and some veggie plates. Some of us enjoyed the Kingfisher and Cobra Indian beers. We would recommend.

Visited today without a reservation, what a great find ,fantastic tasting food and well priced , wasnt sure about it being a tapas style restaurant, but gave it a try a we were not disappointed, tapas allowed us to taste a few dishes at reasonable prices.good service and attentive waiters.

Really enjoyed the food and took advantage of the option to have 2 curries by ordering small portions.

On a whim I fancied some, checked out a few Asian restaurants, and this looked the part. Friendly welcoming staff, authentic atmosphere and a handsome menu. Seek kebab to die for. Lamb dansak tender and tasty.

We stopped here for lunch in between shows at the Edinburgh Fringe. The menu was varied with small and large servings avaialable. I ordered a Paneer Sizzler which usually comes with a spicy sauce but on request they changed the sauce to a Korma for me. Would definitely recommend a meal here.

I was here for dinner with 4 friends. We were first given the wrong bill, but I had already paid when I realised, I mentioned it to a staff member who aggressively disagreed with me. I said “this is not our bill” “yes it is” “we didn’t order these things” “this is your bill” - it was not our bill. We paid the difference, with no apologies from the staff and left. Once we got home we realised we’d be charged £8 for 2 starters we never ordered or were served. Definitely won’t be returning here.

Went there on a Wednesday evening, 2 starters, a bottle of wine and 3 mains (small portions). The gravy on all 3 (chicken bhoona, rogan lamb and veg curry) was the same. Food was not exciting at all....thought it would live up to the exotic name of the restaurant. Staff was friendly but indifferent. Won't recommend.

Having read tripadvisor reviews and looked at the menu, it seemed a good spot for dinner.

Service in this restaurant is very good and the food is mouthwatering. Must visit if you are looking for an indian place to eat.

I went through India once upon a time. I like their tradition, and especially food. I like the way they use all spices in food. I found different varieties of food. The same food I tasted here. Really good food makes my day remember those days again.

We have visited this place in the evening for Indian dinner. It is hard to find desi food in Edinburg. Place was well decorated as it's walls were adorned with ancient Indian paintings. Although the place was dimly lit and but vibe was desi. We ordered curries with naan and it tasted decent. Staff was well behaved and we were satisfied with the overall quality.

Hi yesterday night me and my friends went to kamasutra restaurant Edinburgh it was a amazing dinner night the food was really delicious and sophisticated staff over there and we had a couple of drinks to chill up and had a great wonderful bday night over there. Just per default we ended up one evening in this restaurant. We shared 3 different kind of starters with Naan bred . What an amazing taste! In addition friendly servants.

Don't be concerned at the name of this restaurant it's very very good and not tacky.

We had been to this hotel for dinner and had very tasty dishes in buffet. The manager and staffs were very co operative. Economical rates.

Booked online. When we arrived waitress looked at us and didn't seem to understand when we told her we had a booking. We were told just to choose any table. Music very loud but was turned down when requested. First courses were ok. My wife ordered chicken tikka massala which looked and tasted sweet and like chicken korma. The naan bread was not at all soft but hard and crisp. The coffee was as weak as dishwater. The men's toilet left a lot to be desired - 2 of the urinals when flushed almost overflowed, in fact one was leaking into a bucket placed underneath, and still had not started to drain away when I left the toilet. Two of the 3 hot water taps would not turn on. Altogether not an experience we will seek to repeat. We used to go to the Kama Soutra when it was in Lothian Road and loved it.

Recommended by a colleague. So glad I followed it up. An excellent dining experience. Superb fish lahori with a selection of dishes from the tapas menu. You should go. I'll be trying the Glasgow restaurant soon.

I found this restaurant through TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. Our waiter, Raj, was excellent in recommending us the best dishes from the cuisine and everything was excellent. Thank you for a great dinner experience. Don't miss out on this place if you visit Edinburgh. The butterchicken with garlic bread was my personal favorite. There were some delicious starters as well but I don't remember their names.

Situato leggermente fuori dai soliti percorsi "da turisti" ma comunque a pochi minuti da Royal Mile questo locale offre ottimo cibo indiano in un ambiente carino.

This was truly one of the worst. Watered down beers, no tables cleaned, toilets filthy, kitchen even worse (so unacceptable considering the place was empty) I even asked the chef why and he looked up from his phone and laughed. Ultimate bad service, loop warm lamb, paratha was from 1600's. A personal favourite, when staff handed out cutlery, fingering every part and placing just past the messy table, the balance between the wet area and edge of the table was superb.

We had an amazing dinner here! Between two of us we had poppadoms, two starters, three tapas portions curries, one rice and naan. It was lovely to try lots of different things which were all amazing and we left very full! The prices are pretty reasonable but we used a Dine card which made it even better!

Un enfoque ligeramente diferente al indio aquí con las tapas. Pero no te dejes engañar, eso no significa pequeño. Los tres platos recomendados entre dos más arroz y pan eran abundantes. Los sabores son increíbles y la carne tan tierna. El servicio fue perfecto. Buena selección de bebidas. Mi esposa vegetariana estaba más que feliz.

Este es un excelente restaurante para visitar, con grandes porciones, personal amable y excelente comida. Yo se lo recomendaría a cualquiera.

5 of us came for a pre booked meal. I have to say that the food tapas style was really excellent, but the service need a bit of improvement. The Staff were polite and helpful but once we had ordered we were left alone for rather longer than we would have liked, SO this rather let the evening down, as the food was so good and the right portion size as well. Please improve the service but I will go again for the food..

Had a great meal when our party of 10 descended without a reservation. Nice range of offerings including tapas sized plates. Prepared very well and seemed to be freshly cooked.

Visited this lovely restaurant lately and was not disappointed , the menu was great , so many dishes to choose from , we had 2 vegetarian dishes , 2 chicken dishes and 2 lamb dishes , they were all so good and the peshwari band were gorgeous , staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble , would definitely pay another visit !

While the food was ok the restaurant was freezing, so cold that we all had to wear our coats to keep warm . The waitress told us there was a problem with the boilers but on a cold Saturday evening this was unacceptable. We had booked the restaurant as it was a rugby weekend and everywhere was busy so were immensely disappointed . The food was ok but please, please , please sort the heating out!

Summed it up in the title not much else to say other than they do the best dahl makhani ive had outside of india. Also would like them to have the 560 ml bottles of magners rather than the 330.

Visited this evening and seemed to be very nice interior until we noticed that the windows and sills were very dirty and not cleaned for a while right on the edge of our table.! Chef was very accomodating when making me my naan bread which was not on the menu. Food was good until my other half pulled out a huge piece of cellophane wrapping from the middle of her salad. Upon notifying the staff they took it away and nothing else was said, not even an apology or a hint of a discount on the bill, which put a damper on the evening.. Needless to say very unhappy and wouldn't return here. Real shame as it has great potential.

Best Indian food we have had for some time. Absolutely lovely daal’s, curries and breads. Brilliant meal!
