Beirut in Edinburgh, City of

We stopped off here yesterday afternoon (Sunday) after a trip to the Festival theatre. The restaurant was quiet and we actually had the place to ourselves. I don't think that was a true reflection of how good this place was though. The decor is lovely. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely beautiful and there was plenty of it. We had a mixed grill (lamb and chicken) and the chicken kebab. Both dishes were melt in the mouth and a taste semsation. The dishes came served with bread, sauces, a small salad and light and fluffy rice. I certainly ate more than I probably should have, as it was that good! The main meals will set you back at least £20 a head as Edinburgh prices go but worth every penny on this occasion. We like trying new places so don't return to the same place often but we'll be keeping Beirut in mind for our next visit to the theatre. Definitely worth a visit for their outstanding food.

Booked for Saturday night because it’s close to 10 Hill Place hotel . Reasonable price for Edinburgh standards - BYOB a bonus. Delicious food .

Super amazing food, atmosphere, and somehow even better service. The waiter was very nice, the food was so good I could barely stop eating even when I definitely should have, and the portions were worth the price. Will definitely go again and highly recommend!

Went here for dinner after exploring. The city and was well worth it! The food was presented amazingly and was very tasty. Try out the traditional Lebanese coffee, and don’t forget to get some baklava! Our sever was amazing and brought us the desert for free after knowing it was my first time trying Lebanese cuisine.

I ordered shish tawook and meat kebab, which came with each order, a small amount of rice, and a tabbouleh salad. By mistake, they brought me fattoush, and to whomever I spoke to immediately without discussion, they changed it and brought me tabbouleh 👍🏻.

Fresh and tasty food. Plenty of dairy free and gluten free as well as vegan options. The vegan ice cream was so tasty

Such arrogant Waiters. Misbehave. Made us wait for like an hour still wasn't sorry about that.

We waited for around 1.5 hours for our food but no one even bothered to serve us with anything. Waiters have too much attitude and they gave us our starters after 20 minutes. After that they didnt even bithered to pick up the plates or cane back to us for checking up on us. After 40 minutes they said food will be ready in 10 minutes and even after 90 minutes wait they were still saying to wait for 5 minutes. We didnt get food and they were not even sorry. They had a very bad attitude. Not recommended

Arrogant, Lazy and unprofessional staff. After an hour’s wait they told us it will take another 5 minutes. After 5 minutes they said it will take 5 more minutes. When we tried to leave they didn’t even apologize. When we asked that you are not even sorry for ruining our saturday night, they said “No we are not sorry” with a straight face. I wish there was a negative rating option.

The food is delicious, especially the kebab, rice and tabbouleh, and the service is excellent, especially from the young man, Yamen, who was kind and helpful

We had the set menu for 2 and it was really really good and it had great portions! perfectly cooked chicken, etc We will come back!

Great restaurant in an historic building. Good range of mezze and main courses. Lots of choice for vegetarians and gluten-free diets are well catered for.

Our request was a tea 🫖 and it’s not so bad , But the young man's behavior was rude and completely uncooperative.

We are regulars here so would recommend, but disappointed this week when we were told we could only have table for an hour 15 'because it was August'. We ended up all driving for such a short slot, arrived to find place was empty and there was no push for us to leave at all. Which was good...but we would have eaten and drunk (ie spent) a lot more if we hadn't had that unwelcoming steer when booking.

Great food and good price, rating is because being chased put of table after 1hr of a 2 hr booking because it was the festival. As a local it would be interesting if you need our trade in the winter months or whether you we happy to shoo us away

Habíamos reservado esta comida hace aproximadamente un mes para un cumpleaños, antes del espectáculo Fringe. No podíamos quejarnos de la comida y el servicio hasta que, a mitad de bocado de nuestro baclava, nos pidieron que nos fuéramos. La razón... había una cola afuera esperando mesas y estaba lloviendo. Habíamos tenido un total de 50 minutos para nuestra comida. No es suficiente Beirut. Definitivamente no volveremos!

Great food, everything we ordered authentic, cooked over embers with excellent flavor. Highly recommended Lebanese restaurant. Everything was 10. And the service was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Even though it was such a busy evening. The staff made sure you had an amazing experience and the best service in the town. Food quantity is decent and you cannot go wrong. Definitely visit these guys while in Edinburgh.

The place smells like cooking gas because the chairs are close to the kitchen The curtains contribute to the smell of food and the smell of the kitchen sticking to the place. The food is very good. I ordered grape leaves with oil and they came to me hot and spicy instead of cold. The salads need more olive oil as they are somewhat dry.

El servicio fue un poco inconsistente, y nos decepcionamos cuando el gerente trajo la factura (promedio para la ciudad, no la más barata) sin que preguntáramos y sugerimos que nos mudáramos a otra mesa para continuar charlando después de terminar nuestra cena. Somos italianos y disfrutamos charlando después de nuestra comida, así que esto fue apagado - poniendo

Entorno encantador, personal amable, la comida estaba bien, el servicio era un poco errático, muy decepcionado mientras todavía comía para ser presentado con la factura y pidió que se mueva a otra mesa para terminar nuestra comida y bebidas, cuando nos negamos el gerente se stroppy y se disculpó por no explicar que tenían un límite de tiempo de una hora y media en la mesa al comienzo del servicio, pero todavía esperaba que nos moviéramos. No nos ofrecieron postres , nos hicimos cargo del servicio de la factura debido a esto y probablemente no volveremos.

Great food and experience, one point down for the price, it was a bit pricy compared to the portion

Visited during the festival when they were obviously very busy. That said the food was average at best. Very little flavour in the minced lamb dishes ant the stews felt like a portion was ladled out of a big pot into a bowl. 3 meatballs in a bowl of tomato sauce with a spoon of rice was also not value for money at £18. Starters also expensive at £6-8 for a dish of yogurt or hummus.

An absolute winner every time. We have been eating at Beirut for 10 years and it never disappoints. Great place for larger groups too, birthday celebrations, etc.

The food is substandard, the restaurant is mediocre, I do not recommend it.

After a stressful day, I had amazing food at this place visited for the first time. Having hummus with bread and a cappuccino was truly delightful, especially since I had been experiencing severe headaches and tiredness from a full day of activities. It was a relaxing experience that made my day much better. Thank you for contributing to such a wonderful end to my day.

Dishes are okay The service is also like that if there were many employees, we would not have had to get up more than once to get a spoon or a cup 😅 The restaurant is ordinary, but there is something unbeatable about it On top of that, the service is bad. They put a charge service on them and they refused to remove it, knowing that it was our right and we were forced to pay for it 😅 Should we go back to him again? no

Excellent Lebanese food, we tried Mutabel, Waraq Enab, Tabouleh, Kebbah, Kabab Khiskhash & Fish Siyadiah . The food was above excellent Highly recommended

Ordered mixed grill: the best of them was chicken - the meat kebab was average, the meat was not good.. the rice was nice - the fattoush salad was nice - the potatoes were nice and the potato sauce was also nice.. the service was excellent.

To be honest, it is an Arabic restaurant and delicious food, especially the shish tawook with delicious appetizers and halloumi, and its price is very reasonable and the staff service is very nice ❤️

Here for a pre-theatre bite and it was absolutely outstanding value. The service was superb, with an extremely friendly, helpful and thoughtful waitress. The best stuffed vine leaves we've had for a long time, very tasty mains, and really delicate baklava and mint tea to finish. Being BYOB was an added bonus. And we couldn't believe how cheap the final bill was. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I'm Lebanese and was very excited about an authentic Lebanese restaurant in Edinburgh. The food in this place was pretty good but the service stunk. We got there and there was a large party of people speaking Arabic. They were given the royal treatment while we were largely ignored. I will NEVER go here again.

Lovely surroundings and pleasant staff ,but food was average, mixed grill was dry and lacking Iin flavour. Lamb was tough, but chicken and lamb kebabs was lovely and moist.

We absolutely love this place! Second time here during our visit to Edinburgh. The restaurants recently renovated so warm and inviting. Food is outstanding. We like to come and get a bunch a small plates. Always fantastic. Every year we come to Edinburgh this restaurant is on our list. Never disappoints. A good value for money. We love this place!

Great Lebanese kebabs and staff.

We were 3 generation party of nine ages 9- 70.All of us loved everything about our visit to Beirut.They were very happy to allow us to bring a birthday cake( adding fantastic Baklava ) but that was the end of the evening.2 mixed vegetable platters as starters , 4 mixed grills, a chicken dish, lovely salads and 5 plates of chips The meats were great and plentiful( a doggy bag was needed!) .Lebanese coffees .They also allow you to bring your own wine..The food was matched by the welcome and service by All.We will be back- hopefully very soon.

We came out for a pre-theatre dinner and really enjoyed our experience. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. There are a range of alcoholic drinks on the menu (a little overpriced) but it is BYOB so would recommend making use of that. I didn’t get photos of everything but would recommend the hummus with lamb, baba ganoush, halloumi and mixed grill platter (photographed). The mixed grill platter is definitely a sharer course. The rice served with the platter was unreal, so so good. The staff were honest when we asked if dishes were big enough for two which was appreciated. Ironically, we ordered way too much of the Lebanese bread but it was great for dipping. The atmosphere was great, it was full by 6pm on a Saturday night and I loved the theming of the restaurant and the music. We will definitely be back again!

A halal food restaurant. The food was very delicious. I recommend trying the grilled meat. The meat is better than the chicken. Trying the vegetable moussaka is very good. The service was excellent. The staff was helpful. The atmosphere was calm. They gave us free dessert with coffee. I recommend trying it. The prices are somewhat average.

Great place, been meaning to go for ages and wasn't disappointed. Good range of food. I've always liked Lebanese food and this is good Lebanese food. Good range of food for vegan, vegetarian and fish,meat dishes. Update: it was so good we took the whole family the next weekend.

Wonderful meal at Beirut this week. We were welcomed by a friendly waiter who took time to offer his thoughts on Lebanese beer, which we tried after his recommendation. It was lovely and light! Complimenting the food so well. The food! Where to begin? It smelled incredible, it tasted even better and there was more than enough of it. I think I'll be dreaming of the chicken until the next time I am lucky enough to visit this restaurant. The prices are so reasonable given the restaurant is in the city centre. We were served complimentary baklava to end our meal, which was a really nice touch. It was also delicious, just like the rest of the meal. Can't wait to visit again when I'm next in Edinburgh!

My wife and I visited here on Wednesday 3rd January, at around 8pm. When we arrived the restaurant was very quiet but it soon started to fill up. We had a very attentive server, who offered us some Lebanese beer, rather than the usual choice. We are glad that he offered this as it was a lovely change and complemented the food well. To start we had hommus and batata harra, both well were presented and very delicious. A nice gap was left between the starters and the mains, we had shish tawouk and the chicken wrap. Once again both were delicious and the portions were very generous. I am very happy that we visited here and we will definitely return when we are next in Edinburgh. Thank you!

Eat here roughly every 3 months. Love it! Always order the 2 person sharing platter. Loads more food than 2 people can eat! Food great, service attentive. Can't fault!
